There is nothing marvelous about idols of demons and devils - and certainly no reason to feel honored and privileged to see this ugly thing. The sooner you come to your senses and realise this, the better.

My best friend was half Native and I grew up doing re-enactments with my family and had the privileged of living in the bush with the Natives, them teaching me how to hunt etc. Now that was 20 years ago and I still remember almost all of it. Eg. Heel-towing in moccasins so the other wildlife would think you're on four legs... just some of the coolest stuff ever. Love it, keep it up man.

I have always loved the Native American Indian , they have such a Special way of Communication , in the way they express their love on all the Land's from Canada all the way to as far as Mexico , that is as far as i have known of their existance on the American Continent ..
I am an Englishman by Birth , but have lived most of my life here in Australia , so I only know this Continent ..
i do like the way that the American Natives hold concerts in different areas of the country , just to show how diverse their culture is , & what they had to go through to get to where they are now ...
thank you for sharing this Great part of your life & that of the Totem carver's of your area ...

Nice. I used to live in Sitka Alaska. Some wonderful craftsmen from the local Tlinget tribe built and carved a huge totem from a yellow cedar. Several tour ships were in port and the newspaper said the totem would be raised at a certain time....when the hoards of rude folks arrived to see it go up, it was already up! The elders said, oh...we raised it on Indian time, not white time. : ) Beautiful.

I have a western Red Cedar ( Giant Arborvitae ) shingle that has 438 growth rings in about one foot in width and after I counted how many and how tight the growth is, I've kept it as a sample.
These trees are so large that the thin growth rings are still putting a tremendous amount of wood on the tree each year, because it may be like covering a football field or at least a large yard with several sheets of paper, and that growth is covering a large diameter and height plus all the branches.

Thank you for bringing us along for this special moment in time watching that pole being raised for all to view for who knows how long. I live in New England in a town that has a meeting house that was built in 1732. The meeting house was made in days when equipment was not known to exist. Yet when it was made the trees were used for the framing were traced back to the 1600s. Other trees were used from a local mountain to trace the age of the meeting house beams. I appreciate the love for the wood used to make a building that is still used as a house of worship today still.
