- BUCKIN' HAS A FRIEND NAMED KEN BARNETT AND KEN ASKED HIM TO SHOW HOW HE COILS UP A ROPE ,, SO BUCKIN' BEIN' A MAN OF SERVICE,,,,,, WHAT DOES HE DO? HE COILS THE ROPE , A LITTLE QUICK AND DIRTY , BUT COILED NONE THE LESS..
Nice job. Clear instruction, economy of movement and then... the why to sink it all in. Really great.
Hey there Billy, that I say is a beauty...luv them tips and video,eh.👍👍🇨🇦👍👍
Coiling that rope is pure muscle memory. Thumb up to videos that showcase the muscle memory of an ol' logger.
Brilliant Billy, no faffing around and straight to the point. Just do it style. Keep playing those drums! respect from Scotland. Always interesting.
Hi Billy, thanks for demonstrating how to coil up a long length of rope, good one mate. This one has made my other methods now...obsolete.
Also thanks to Ken Barnett.
That was an awesome video! Wonderful explanation and demonstration there Buckin'! Stay safe my friend!
Thanks for the informative vid buckin. Always nice to see someone else’s tricks and technique
The way you're coiling your rope introduces twist in because you're going in one direction. Check out the over under coiling method or learn how to butterfly coil like rock climbing guys do. These methods prevent the rope twisting and make it muck easier to deploy tangle free.
You showed that in your logger habits video, I must have watched that part 3 or 4 times. Thanks for going over it and thanks Mr. Barnett for asking for it.
Mr.P
Thank you for this one, Buckin' ‼️👍
Hey great tutorial Buckin!! Hey if we can't get the rope coiled we can just work on getting the gullet out!! Be careful out there!!
I’m loving this channel. Going back and watching a lot of the older videos. Been out of work with a busted up foot since early December so I have a lot of free time. Buckin, thank you for helping me keep my sanity, boredom is a horrible thing. Thanks also for all the real world practical info you put out here. Most of all, thank you for the positivity you bring to us.
Super Video, Billy Ray.
It was nice to see how a long rope is properly wound up without twisting it.
Thank you for sharing.
My knowledge continues to grow thanks to you Mr. Smith
Hey Billy Ray, thanks for the help, the little things during your explanations make all the difference for me.
Very interesting video as normal. Welcome to any New subscribers enjoy the channel its brilliant and your in good hands with bucking Billy ray. Regards to everyone. Stay safe and warm folks
Exactly the way we roll our 5/8 arborplex. we also give it a lil twist it helps it lay right. We also started using the bags and its made it alot easier for the ground guys. The rope can be buried in branches at the base of the tree and not get tangled makes it nice. Thanks Billy
Hey Buckin, Isaacs Poppop here. Had to mention. I'm a Duffy too. Sat hey to Mike Duffy for me. Jerome Duffy ( Philly)
That was perfect, keep it up love working with ropes , thanks
Looking good Billy!!! Thanks for the tutorial. Thanks to Kenny Barnett too. Have a great day!
Awesome video!! I'll have to try it soon!! keep the chain sharp and the chips flying!!
awesome videos Billy. new subscriber but enjoying all your videos down here in Michigan.
That's very helpful!! I really enjoy these style of videos, lord knows you have plenty to teach the newbies like me👍👍
Ton of great energy!
very useful tip thanks! as a massage therapist and going to school for physical therapist assistant I like your body mechanics!! want to make it easy on your body so you don't hurt yourself!
we call it flaking the rope , our process for climbing ropes is the same except ew double the rope and start from the middle , then the twists come out themselves.
happy thanksgiving.
I fight with ropes everyday, saw you do this on your big dangerous maples video and have been doing it the past few days. I don't have the flippy bit down yet but getting there. Thanks for sharing the details of this process! have a good Thanksgiving!
Great coil technique Buckin! I'm going to try it out. Always used a double arm length spread coil and you're right, wears you out on a hot day.
nice, I'm used to coiling long line from working on stone crab boats, but I always like seeing things done smartly - not swinging the arms out and getting tired counts for a lot. each action adds up at the end of the day. thanks for another fun video
That's the way I do it also didn't know what the knot at the end was called cool to know! You can also use the door mirror on the truck when you got a 200ft 3/4in bull line! Lol
Mr B, you are so right.
And thanks for the twist emphasis to prevent fogure 8s.
very well explained - ohhhh at 7:03. I could hear the sweet missing "Buck Chick" ;-)
Love to you and be save - THOMAAAAS #BuckinImpressions
Thanks for this video. I just started climbing and had some trouble keeping my rope in check.
Unbelievable how effective this process is! For more years than I like to remember (most of which I can't) I've done the old throw your shoulder way out and by the time I'd get to the end of a long extension cord or a 200' 1/2 rope, shoulder is on fire. I've tried this process twice and how simple and easy. Uncoiled without a hitch. Work smart, not harder! Thanks Buckin'!
I'm used to coiling up cables and ropes that really like to twist up (data and A/V, performance sailing) flaking out the rope to start so there is no twist, and then alternating the twist as you bring it into coils is the easiest way to store ropes for easy deployment. (your way will leave it wanting to knot up if you just drop the coil on the ground and pull one end)
Thanks for the tip Woodman! Never knew it was that easy! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours and God bless.
I’m new to trees and I suck at coiling rope right now went out and bought some gonna give it some practice all weekend
Keeping ropes when not in use is my biggest challenge. I’m excited for this!
Buckin'!!! Most of my lines are in 5-gallon buckets (the standard, paint/spackle type). Keeps grease and fuel and saw chain off the lines...
(It's not as cool, but I swallow my pride, Lol😝)
This might even be good for your long Christmas light strings.
Perfect explanation! Thanks!
thanks for the shout out. nice job. with that video. yes. it's so important to know a proper way.
Great tip. I do it around the shoulders.
Buckin, a thought goes through my mind. This thought, I wonder how it would be workin on a job with you. I do remember in one video you said "If you are asked to get something off the truck, run,do not walk" I think working one day on the job with you would equal an entire year with "others" (this is a compliment).
Yes sir....well done.
Showing some man skills. Good video buckin
Hey buckin, if you walk maybe 20 ft away from the pile it will help with the pig tails. Also pay attention to which way a rigging line went through a porta wrap, or trunk wrap, and coil the opposite. Much love buddy
Ok I learned something there... thanks amigo, I'll be using that!
You the man. 90% of my ropes are in bags, but we use some cheap 3 strand almost daily for simple rigging. Excited to try the buckin way! Have a good thanksgiving (if that's a bc thing :)).
man!! love the twist at the end
thats nice ,always wondered how u kept your ropes so neat . thanks buckin. been hectic here ,behind almost 3 weeks of your .vids
I FORGIVE EASILY HA HAAA
Ahhh excellent buckin now my arms won't kill me after coiling up a rope or I saw a comment say that he uses a bucket great idea too
When I'm in an open area I just walk the length of the rope and it stops that from twisting on ya
You are the man love your video
I'm a new subscriber, watched a few of your videos that popped up from following August Hunicke. I'm a full time plumber, been climbing and falling for about 20 years though. I'm 100% self taught have never worked in the industry for anyone else. So little things like this help me along! I always kept all of my ropes in individual buckets, but that takes up a lot of space. I always had a 3/4" 200 ft rig line that was too big for any bucket! I just now coiled that big bastard up like you said and it works great! Pretty good size rope though, sad to say my arms are still tired! LOL!! keep em comin!
THX MITCH
That's cool. Thanks for the tutorial!
Wow I’m going to use this method. Cheers bud.
Hey, that's sweet! I'll remember that! 💡📋📌
Hey brother, I'd really be interested in the types of rope you use. That's what brought me to this video. Love the videos keep up the good work!
I'll have to try this on extension cords. Nothing like a pile of tangled extension cord.
Nice demo, Buckin', thanks! I too am way behind on vids - workin to catch up!
That's a great method!
just finding your channel, just saw some of your videos and I love the energy and personality you have ! keep it up man!

Nice video Billy. This'll new useful for extension chords too.
Great tutorial
Thanks for this both of you. I usually daisy chain but like this technique as well (must practice this).
EASY ON THE SHOULDERS
Good tip!

Pretty slick buddy
👍👍👍👍👍
Cool vid👍🏻
Awsome video man
i learn from u a lot!!
I have a 14mm 200" bull line. That thing is a pain to coil up
I got 400’ of double braid and kept the clear plastic it came in and just flake it in…bags round 80lb.
Speed mode🔥
I tried it and it's much easier than what I was doing Thanks so much
Pete W awesome brother thx
Hey. Buckin. Billy. Ray. I. watched. Your. Video. On. trimming. that. Japanese. maple. and. that. was. a. awsome. way. to. trim. I. was. just. wondering. if. you. can. trim. a. oak. tree. the. same. way

Great video on rope coiling. Hope I can find it again when it's time to practice. By the way what are you rubbing on the axe handles.
Watco Lee nothing but the good stuff I use it on all my woodworking projects love it
I went back over the last 6 or 8 videos did I miss something on how to get me one of those head socks stay safe get logs
great vids bud love your chainsaw collection and axes I'd love to have one, I just started restoring some old axes myself!how much for u to make an axe for me??
14 views and only 4 minutes out! I tell ya that is something haha
Yes, but what sort of rope is it???????
What rope brand do u use
do you have a video on knots?
NOT REALLY AHHHAHA GET IT NOT RE M ANYWAYS YA HAHAHAHAHAHAA
How do u tie up a 250 foot rope
By faking it down into a bucket. Lol.
(Some people call it "flaking", but in my Navy days, we used the two terms interchangeably)
the chainsaw collector 360 hey chainsaw what kind of chainsaws do you collect?
Figure 8 coils work much better than this. When you uncoil a figure 8 coil it won't get tangled.
over your shoulders mate way easier
