Yeah! Thanks Justin. It is a great book. I am glad that I decided to get it read. It is very worth the time. Weren't you one of them that recommended it several years ago??? If you were, thank you. Thanks for watching. Have a great week.
@billruttenberg yeah I talked about a long time ago but it pops up every now and then in other videos, I haven't seen anyone really not like it yet haha
Alaska was a good read. My favorite Michener, The Source (which I read on the beach over several days in 1969). Jefferson's Women was a good non-fiction book. I loved Peter the Great, Catherine the Great and Nicholas and Alexandra by Robert K. Massie.😊
I have The Source but have yet to read it. We are getting ready to read Peter the Great for a readalong with Historathon 2024. I am really excited about it. We are starting later this week! Thanks for watching. Have a great week.
Following your recommendation sometime back, I have got Michener's Hawaii and I am going to take it on next month. I am currently reading (and loving) Shogun so I certainly in the mood for huge blockbusters. All the best, Bill from James in the UK.
Thanks James! I really hope you enjoy Hawaii. I found it to be a great book. There is a long ocean travel sequence at the beginning of the book, so don't get discouraged. It is worth the wait. Good luck with it. I have never read Shogun. I have it, but haven't tackled it yet. I will some time in the future. Thanks for watching. Have a great weekend.
Welcome back, Bill. Another great selection of books. You can't go wrong with any of David McCullough's books, although my favorites are Brooklyn Bridge and the two biographies, Truman and John Adams. Robert Massie's Peter the Great was fascinating and his description of Moscow in the spring was almost lyrical. Although massive, it is an easy read because it is so entertaining. Michener's books are also fun to read, but be prepared to learn more than maybe you wanted to know, so have an interest in the topic before you begin.
Thanks Barbara. Michener does put a lot into his stories. Fortunately, I enjoy that part of his story telling. I like his connections between the past and the present. Thank you for watching. Have a great weekend.
Hey Jammie! There is never a good time like the present. We are doing a Peter the Great read a long on Voxer if you are interested. If you are, just let me know. Thanks for watching. Have a great week.
You HAVE had quite a summer, reading and otherwise. Sometimes I miss being able to do stuff. But other times I want to disappear into a dank cave to never be seen by mortal eyes again, so I suppose it all balances out. 🤪 D-Day has launched me on a mission to learn more about the World Wars, a subject I've read surprisingly little about since I've traditionally been drawn more to ancient and medieval history. The World Undone is definitely among the titles I hope to tackle soon. Edison sounds like one I would enjoy as well. Thanks for the video, and all the best with the new school year and your upcoming reads.
Thanks Bryan! I hope you read A World Undone. I think it would be right up your alley. Same as Edison. I love Edmund Morris's story telling ability. He is a great writer. As you read through more stuff on the world wars be sure to keep me updated. I would be interested to see what you are reading. I can always use another good recommendation. Thanks for watching. Have a great weekend.
You've been a busy guy. The trip to the amusement park sounds fun. The story about the kids beating up another kid wouldn't sit well with me either. The only Michener I've read is Centennial. I've been busy I guess in a different way. I've been house-sitting in two different houses for a few weeks. I finally just got a video posted. I bought, but haven't started, a book on General Pershing or someone like that, about WW1. I hope that it's good when I get to it.
Hey Melissa! Thanks for watching the video. I am glad that you got a chance to film some videos. I was wondering where you went. Sorry about the house sitting. Hope things get better. I am looking forward to your tag video on Tuesday. Thanks for creating it. Have a great weekend.
Good to see you again but I am envious of your weather. Yes, Dr. Frankenstein was the actual monster. I would reccommend Chesapeake first but also if you run across it, I would suggest The Bridges at Toko-Ri. It's about Navy pilots during the Korean War.
Oh buddy!, the weather has been beautiful this last week. 70º-80º is perfect!!! Love it. But, I am a realist. It will get extremely hot again in time for my football practices, LOL. Never fails. I think I have The Bridges at Toko-Ri ... pretty sure. If I do, I will try it first because it is smaller (correct??) and won't bog me down as much. With that said, I will tally your vote for Chesapeake. Thanks for watching. Have a great weekend.
I have Michener’s Poland, the convenant and centennial. I haven’t read any of his stuff but if I see one at the used book store I pick it up also John Jake’s I have 2 of his. I plan on reading them at some point. I was just looking at the Edison book at mackays. I will definitely get it if it’s still there. I recently got the Nathaniel philbrick book on Washington and Benedict Arnold. I know Erion really likes him so I picked one up. I had the Peter the great book I will participate because I keep Putting off reading it and now I have a reason to pick it up. I am currently reading an uncommon woman by Hannah paluka about empress Frederick. It’s an easy read nonfiction that I am really liking also reading Lafayette by Harlow Giles unger. I love reading about Lafayette, so beloved by Washington who called him son. I will start the David McCullough read along with the bridge. I never got the Johnstown flood but I will eventually. Your videos are never too long.
Hey Vickie! Thanks for watching and making it to the end of the video, LOL! It sounds like you got a lot of chunksters in store for your reading. Fortunately, they are all good books. Let me know how they go for you. Are you on the Voxer for the McCullough readalong? If so, I look forward to chatting in the comments. Have a great weekend.
I can't do spin rides either. I also get sick. I totally avoid them.
Glad you are enjoying A World Undone Bill!

Texas gets my vote.
Thank you for the vote. I will tally them all up soon. Thanks for watching. Have a great week.
Lots of interesting books on this list. I have the Alaska and Peter the Great book on my book shelf. Your making me really want to read them.

When you said Nick Carter, I thought of the Nick Carter from the boy band, Backstreet Boys. lol
LOL, that is exactly what my wife said! That's funny.
Thanks for watching. Have a great week.
Welcome back!! Excited 🎉
Thank you!! I hope to get a couple more filmed today. Fingers crossed.
Thanks for watching. Have a great weekend.
I didn’t like My Monticello either.
