I just bought a white and black yamaha cart and it came with a tan top. I didn't want to spend 300 for a black top he was charging. So I had the same idea to use bedliner to paint it! I'm glad I found this video!
It's still held up perfectly after years now. Not a scratch or a chip.
Would have liked to see the finished product....looks like it was going pretty good
Yes, came out perfect. I tried putting it at end I thought, but was dark. It has been completed for over a year and still looks like I just did it.
I used that same paint on the lower half of the front and rear cowl on my golf cart. Got a question for you: did the tip get clogged up for you while you were spraying? That's the only thing that has kept me from tackling my roof. I wound up going through two extra cans of spray because after I got half way through the can, the texture started clogging the tip and I couldn't get it cleaned.
No, the tips never did clog on me. I went through the cans pretty quickly. It's been a good year almost since I have done it, still not a scratch or chip or anything.
I’m looking at painting my roof, not sure as to with paint i need, would you recommend flat or satin? Also my wife’s dad who does auto body, said he’s done a ton of golf carts and best thing to do is spray roof with bulldog adhesion promoter then spray it with an acrylic enamel paint.
Bedliner seems best for these plastic roofs. I did this a couple years ago and not even a chip or scratch yet. Just prep really well.
Did you add a clear coat finish? I did my roof in a similar fashion but it rubs off pretty easily.
No clear coat. This has been on over a year now. It has hit branches and other stuff but no chips and no rubbing off. I even tried scratching it with my nail very hard and nothing. Has held up great. It's all in the decreasing and prep.
What cleaner did you spray on prior to sanding? I couldn’t read the bottle.
I use the totally awesome cleaner/degreaser that you can get from dollar tree. It works great. Any cleaner/degreaser should do fine though.
👍👍👍
Thank you.
I’m curious to know how the roof is doing now?
It's still held up perfectly, not a chip or scratch.
I have the same roof. How many cans of liner did you use?
I think it was 6 cans
@@Erik740t Holy crap..that stuff is 14 bucks a can at Home Depot....x6
Hows it holding up after a few months?
Not a scratch or chip on it. The prep is the most important part
Did you use an adhesive promoter
No, I didn't.
How many cans did you use?

@@Erik740t Wait, above you answered 6?
Wat kind of black paint was that?
It's bed liner
@@Erik740t I wanted to try this, but got nervous as Rustoleum says not to use that on plastic, its for metal only....But after your video, think I'm gonna do it.
@@Erik740t Rustoleum brand?
