Right! I think 99% of passengers just want to get to their destination safely. Not having a charger in their Uber isn't always a deal breaker.
Pretty sure my uber pool passengers will use the cords as dental floss.

wrong, some people will give drivers less than 5 stars for no good reason. Tip the driver and you are all set.

Agree that pax love the chargers. Disagree that they will bring more tips. I have easy access fast chargers for the pax. Yes they verbally thank me for them. But tips did not increase.
Tips are based on your personality and the direction of the conversation. The Powapod has started many conversations for me. Just charge your phone before you reach the airport, give it a quick charge, it's four times faster......you never want to be caught with an empty phone...just a few lines that show you care and start the conversation. In SUV and LUX I get tips all day long.
I'm gng to be getting bcuz am gng 2 get signs made that say I have available. But I also think my tips are not gng 2 increase significantly, but hopefully a lil more than current bcuz I don't get tipped very often and I don't try hard, I just try to drive well
Good idea but not for rideshare... children will pull on them and eventually it will break. Drunk people will mess around with it. I purchased a 4 foot multi phone charger on amazon it has 2 iPhone ports, galaxy and android. Soon as they request a charge I simply hand the cord to them where it is plugged in up front. This will prevent any theft of it as well as insuring the children and drunks won’t damage the charger. Good video tho.
I justwonder what kind of parents would let their little monsters mess with someone else's personal property. That's ridiculous.

The first day I installed my powerpods I picked up a young lady from the airport and when she got in the car she realized she for got her charger for her Mac Book Pro on the plane. She said she had some important work to do before she got to her destination. I showed her the PowerPod which had a USB-C for her MacBook. She was surprised and she got to work. When we got to her destination she then thanked me with a Cash tip. I didn't think it was nothing until I saw what she gave me and I said to her Miss you gave me too much and then she said no please keep it. You have no idea what kind of trouble you got me out of. It was a $100.00 Tip. Thank You Torsten for putting out this video. You are the Greatest my Friend. God Bless You and your Family.

I use handheld power banks that I keep up front. One totally for iOS devices and a second for any usb device. With those they are my personal ones and the cords where extra ones I had. No extra cost and never stolen as it’s up front with me at all time.
I stopped doing anything extra for passengers, they never tip you or give 5 stars for anything, it just matters who the person is, some people tip regardless others never tip

I'm a 4.90 rating & never had this device. My theory is, "If it works, don't fix it." Customers are only going to be in your car for average of 20-30 minutes & their phone is not going to need charging. If it does, that's on them. Any device that has those recoil springs usually break after the first time somebody pulls it to far. I also don't like the fact you have to raise the Headrest because now your blocking your passengers view.
I’ve been through two of these. The iPhone cord worked for about 10 minutes on both.
The pax do think it’s great, but then it’s a big let down when they learn the iPhone cord doesn’t work. I put an adapter on the mini USB so they have something.
They should have another version that has an extra lightning cable in case there is an extra iphone that needs charging. But this is awesome and looks clean.

The Iphone connection was dead out of the package not sure if I should get another or buy the 120$ one on Amazon with pouch and shorter cords any ideas please let me know.
Ordered one here in Brisbane Australia but really disappointed when it arrived as connection holder wasn't compatible with the headrest pipe in my KIA Cerato SLI sedan. I have found a workaround but it isn't the best. Hopefully it will not fall off when I start driving.

For $40, I'm cool on this item. I think I'll stick with my $2 4-in-1 multi charge cables from China. I could only imagine if some rowdy passenger breaks one of the cables on this, or one of the cables eventually develop a short in it from being pulled on, that's $40 down the drain. And good luck trying to figure out which passenger broke it. I don't agree that this will increase tips. Save the $40 and tip yourself $40.

i just have multiple usb ports from several cigarette lighter adapters and 3-4 cables in the glove compartment. my car has a 110v outlet in the back (ford escape) so i just bought a 3 usb port plug in charger for 10 bucks i keep it in the glovebox though when not needed.
So are the cords replaceable, I've yet to have a USB USBC or lightning plug last longer than 6-8months, even handling gently...

Torsten, when the ride comes through the app, does it tell you that the trip is a Pre-Scheduled Trip before you accept it? Or is that just information you get from the rider after asking questions?
Exactly what I need! My current setup is cringeworthy! dangling ugly cables I need to keep worrying if they are going to go missing.
When I click that link to the Powapod website, it tells me it's not a safe link and that it contains malware. I don't see that Powapod on Amazon. But I do see other great looking fast chargers with 3 to 4 ports plus cords with splitters with different charging heads for different devices.

Went to POWAPOD site but I don't see it available for sale? Does that mean it's not sold there or they've run out of it? Even if the latter is the case, they could state so and put expected date it's going to be available. Also, it's not on Amazon for sale either.
Ordered on 9/15, the switched tracking from China EMS to USPS on 9/2. Thius was supposed to be delivered by the 3rd (9-14 business days). Today is the 5th and still no local USPS tracking. Last tracking info is: September 17, 2017, 1:54 pm Processed Through Facility GUANGZHOU EMS, CHINA. 3 weeks and it hasnt even hit the states?! I contacted them directly at PowaPod and there response was that the USPS was not predicatble and its just an estimate. true, but it hasnt even hit the states yet.

I bought this product. Since the iPhone charger plug is used the most, it stopped working after 3wks of service. Very dissatisfied with POWAPOD product. I've attempted to contact them for warranty information endings in negative response from them.

What happens if you sit on the other side in the rear seat?
When the young lady in the back says "do you know there is smoke coming out of your charger", it kinda grabs your attention. This happened after a previous passenger pulled the retractable wire so hard, the one of the three chargers stopped working, and the next person who wanted to use it was the young lady who saw the smoke. I very quickly removed the charger and threw it away and now use alternative methods with many more types of connectors. Be careful of this device, it's in a place that you cannot see it.
What would make it better is a cradle to set the phone in at eye level so they are not forgotten.
clbcl5 yeah I would tip my passengers not to leave their phone in my car. It's such a pain in the ass when they do.
you know what? i used to have of this, but there are some riders very aggressive, they pull by holding the wire instead of base, and they broke it. i now have a very simple usb charger.
A lot of times people forget to disconnect the cable and start leaving the cable with it. This ends up damaging the cable pretty fast. People will easily break these cables when they'll forget to disconnect them.

did you look at all factors? Driving style, clean inside, clean outside, music, temperature, route? Sometimes they are having a crap day and you are the recipient of their upset. It has nothing to do with you.

Not exactly the same thing... it kinda sorta works but looks pretty bad. For me its all about convenience for riders and drivers... drivers that they dont have to keep sharing their personal cable and worry about it going missing, and convenient for riders in that they don't have to carry around their cables wherever they go or have to beg us to use ours.. win win :) Brings a level of profesioanlism to the experience

I ordered 2 Powapods for my Explorer because I can carry 6 pax.
However, I have a problem. One of the units was defective. It shocked and burned me while installing.
Have you had any issues with defective units?
I have emailed Powapod Support twice with no reply. I would love to have it replaced because I’ve received multiple tips from pax for having the other charger. I want to have the second charger.

Torsten, this powapod looks so good I just ordered one. I just started with Uber a month ago in New Hampshire and using your tips I've got forty seven 5 star trips already in just eighty four rides. That's normal. About half of the passengers rate drivers, and they usually just rate 5 stars unless there's something you're doing that makes them feel uncomfortable.

Went out yesterday for the first time with Powapod installed. Got three positive comments before finding a rider had broken it. So will not be buying another. Cost me $75 to order from USA in Brisbane, Australia.

Looks professional and gets a lot of positive comments by riders, but its not reliable. Mine stopped working after 2 months, that seems to be the lifespan of the unit and the lightning cable would not retract. Its gonna take 5 weeks to get a replacement and I have to pay for shipping again. Sad part is there is no way to leave feedback on their website and people keep buying it. Powapod really needs to work on their quality. I hear alot of drivers are having the same issue
