I'm one of the ones who will be leaving soon. I'll be selling my business in late 2025 or early 2026 once I've tied up some loose ends. Then I'm off to live in Thailand. I've had enough of the UK.
Great video thanks for sharing this. Dubai is the NUMBER 1 location that the wealthier Brits are moving to right now. On freedom of speech, at least other countries are very clear about what you aren't allowed to say. Countries like the UK use vague terms like "offend" and "protected characteristic", so they can selectively choose who to prosecute.
I'm going through the reverse process. :)) I have lived in Thailand (Bangkok, Phuket), Indonesia - Bali, Malaysia (love Kuala Lumpur), Vietnam. Dubai too but not much time And now I decided to try London. I am an AI Engineer and I thought it was an interesting idea. I have a small startup and decided to move on global talent visa and start a company in UK. Am I making a mistake if the Brits themselves are leaving the UK? :)))
Taxes increasing, and it's not about to stop. Crime up too, and gov doing nothing about it. No border control. I cannot find a good reason to move to London for starting an IT startup, except perhaps the talent availability. But, in 2024, this is not so location-dependent anymore.

There is no mass immigration from India, they've been there for hundreds of years already. UK isn't Canada, Canada has mass immigration from India recently.
My husband and I were recently visiting Whistler 🇨🇦 (north of Vancouver) and we encountered so many expat UK youth working in many positions, right up to management. All that we talked to fled the UK post-BREXIT citing the decline for economic/career opportunities. I’m a dual citizen (🇬🇧/🇨🇦) … and it saddened me to learn all the details about their experiences/journeys. I wish them all well. I’m not sure anywhere is safe for young people these days. Also, in British Columbia, I’ve encountered more and more young couples who have recently moved to Canada, pushing prams, starting new families. But if you listened to right wing nutcases they’ll tell you Canada is collapsing.
Great video but I disagree with some of your views because there are still some small western countries where the standard of living is enviably high like the Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, Finland, Denmark, Luxemburg and Sweden. You're a Finn and Finland is extremely rich.
Finland is a cold shithole where you pay 60% tax, crime is going up, the state is bankrupt and healthcare isn't good anymore. Your views are based on outdated information from 2010.
HMRC doesn’t count crypto as a taxable currency or asset, you only owe the tax when you convert it into cash. So, when you left the uk your crypto was not a taxable asset. Now if you have definitely passed the Uk statuary residency test such that you are no longer obligated to UK taxes when you cash out your crypto you will not owe any taxes on it. But note: To escape the UK tax jurisdiction you it’s not enough to simply not be in the uk for x amount of days in a tax year, it involves proofing that you have moved the ‘centre of your life and business’ TO another tax jurisdiction. You must pick place say Dubai and setup residency there. See videos on leaving the uk or escaping uk tax. Understand the statutory residents test, try to meet any one of the first 3 automatically NONE resident criteria and you are free. Finally watch out for changes regarding crypto and uk tax. The government is so desperate for money they are discussing changing how HMRC perceives crypto. If you setup your life in another jurisdiction it doesn’t matter what they do. I’m not in crypto myself, my concern is I’m still 100% in the uk tax jurisdiction and the uk government is considering an exit tax which would essentially trap me permanently, if they do it they will probably not give any warning. So I’m gonna have to leave sooner than I ideally would have. This made me investigate how to quickly totally cut all ties to the uk to immediately become a none-tax resident (residency somewhere else, no uk bank accounts, no uk accommodation, accommodation in another country, not working in the uk, too many days in the uk, working 35 hours in another country).
