I like em,but I think you should make your bee space deeper so u can feed pollen patties and the bees have enough space to protect it from shb,but definitely not bashing I actually made some very close to these, good job!
I feed pollen patties and fondant in them. They are 3 inches deep on the interior which is plenty deep enough for patties and fondant. Luckily, we don't have SHB just yet. How deep do you make yours? Out of interest, why do they need to be deeper for SHB?
I cant believe I forgot to add that i use them as rhombus clearer boards. That was my main reason for making them! haha. I'm actually going senile! Make that 8 uses!
Thanks, Laurence great piece of kit, I've now got another project to undertake, I use English feeders and am thinking of drilling holes in my Eke's for gas VAP, problem solved, top man.
Never got back to this one - sorry. These work really well with the English feeders. They also double up as my clearer boards. Such a versatile piece of kit
I repurposed the wooden crown boards that fit my maisemore poly's. But only fixed 2" deep wood, maybe next time I'll do as you have, love that entrance disk. I originally wanted a Apigard eke and a space for fondant. Great video as usual.👍🐝🐝🐝
Just wanted to say that I really enjoy your videos I’m in the US in Kentucky and a lot of beekeeping information that you give also works over here because we have similar weather By the way I just subscribed so keep up the good work and I’ll be watching for more videos
Hi Ive put these on and I’m trying to use a rapid feeder but the circular rim under the feeder seems to big as it’s touching the frames underneath do the base of the feeder doesn’t sit flush to the base of the board. Does that make sense? Should I dremmel the rim on the feeder so it shorter ? Temporarily I inverted the box and place the feeder on top. The put a second box to cover but I’m not sure it will feed the well. Any ideas. I’m new to bee keeping !
I got the ply thickness as 0.75 inches but the sides what thickness are they please. The bee space is therefore 0.25 inches. I have in the past tried to reinvent the wheel, but it’s just not worth it, that’s why I am asking for the dimensions. Like the videos. Thanks
Sorry I am working in metric. Bee space rim is 8mm. Plywood can be any thickness. Wooden sides are 25mm thick and 75mm above the ply. Overall depth is 75mm + 18mm + 8mm
Hi Laurence is that 4x1 treated timber you use with 10mm ply? It just looks like planned timber? Also I use paradise honey bee boxes they have a top and bottom ridge that makes them interconnect, should I make these to fit around the external edge or to sit on the top ridge
Hi Paul. Its just planed timber. Any depth of ply works but 10-12mm is best compromise between longevity and weight. Either will work. Just need to make sure the edge of ply isnt exposed or it will start to delaminate

I make these too. But 3 inches deep. I use it all year round. I also have it so I can attach a rhombus bee clearer to it on the deeper side .

Mine are 4 inch deep on exterior and 3 inch deep on the inside
Thanks Lawrence plan to make a few up during the winter.
Good luck John. Let me know how you get on :)
Thanks great video I think I’ll be making some for myself they certainly look very handy.
Glad you enjoyed it Matthew

Hey John! Cheers for the sub and glad you enjoy the vids and find them useful! Happy new year!
Seems a straight forward design, but is there a video on how you put these together ?
Really interesting. Can I ask what are the dimensions / depths??
hi laurence did u do a video demo of building this
Hi

What is the dimensions of the board

What about a Canadian style clearing board
I have seen Canadian clearer boards but never actually used one. Are they effective?
Haircut!!!!!!!
Nearly a skin cut. A close shave indeed!! ;)
