I actually love this little ship. I've gone through so many "starter" ships, as I've melted/upgraded to bigger things, but the C8X will always stay in my hanger, as its one of my most used ships. Yes I typically use it as a shuttle, but I've lost count of how many times I needed a small little shuttle to get from A to B and didn't feel like taking a hulking behemoth around. I also remember when the QT fuel almost felt infinite so you almost never had to refuel, even when you did, it was pocket change. I love the fact you can even call it from planet side landing pads, that are typically only used for ground vehicles.
This is actually one of my recommendations for a starter ship, depending on the pilot. Included among the introductory game loops are various kinds of delivery missions and the Pisces is a ship that can be parked at the stairs of almost anywhere. No mucking about as the courier nips in and out with boxes.
C8X is my favorite ship in the game. its convenience in current game loops is just unparalleled. you can land in any location and it is the fastest enter/exit of any ship in the game. it falls behind in combat, yeah, but that is only one of so many gameplay loops. and now with a Pulse, the Pisces is great for bunker missions too! (if you aren't emphasizing packrat looting). it also flies pretty quick in atmosphere too compared to a lot of ships. it is my number 3 recommended starter ship after the Nomad and Titan.
Whether it's a pledge or not, everyone should have one. Can be spawned at outposts, it's a quick claim and it's a fantastic point A to point B ship. It's fast as hell, which makes it a decent box runner, quick in and out for bunkers as long as the turrets aren't hostile. The C8X is kind of a badass little ship.
Still my favorite little ship to start with. 4scu storage and 4 s1 guns means i can fly in fast smack some bounties and take my spoils. I routinely take bounties with the stock loadout
I feel like the Pisces is more of an exploration ship, which would go inside a ship such as a 890J or Carrack, as you mentioned. 742QF is not bad at all, considering how small your ships is.. totaly agree, it's a shuttle (for the Carrack), NOT a Starter. For a Shuttle (in my beloved Carrack :) ) i really love it, like the shape, the internals, everything well thought out, just the stats are...nothing, compared to non-shuttles, but as such you shouldn't compare it to "real" ships, not fair. Not fair from CIG to sell this as a starter either, so... :D
Hahaha yes! I agree. As a shuttle it’s actually just fine, a ship easy to own and fun to fly. But not as a starter for a new player, this as a starter would be very difficult compared to the others.
I think it's a good ship... for a shuttle or a snub. Imho they shouldn't have made it a starter, and I'm still very disgusted by CIG for "making" C8X as an "upgraded C8" and sold it as an upgrade to Carrack owners.

Hahaha yes! I agree. As a shuttle it’s actually just fine, a ship easy to own and fun to fly. But not as a starter for a new player, this as a starter would be very difficult compared to the others.

It has hood ergonomics and a good cockpit experience. Just wish it wasn't so squishy for PVE.

I just bought the starter pack. Kinda wish I did my research before doing so. 😅
You can melt it for another one, but you will have to pay taxes again if you already did
