Your Right
As soon as the plane started nose diving straight down you can tell how quickly their thinking came into play. The fact that their LAST resort was to fly the plane inverted (upside down) to try and stabilize the horizontal wing is pretty bad ass. Both pilots had military air training and you can tell. Those pilots fought to stay on air till the very last seconds of their lives and the inevitable crashing into the water is just heartbreaking. This one has always stayed with me 😢 they gave it their all but sometimes it’s not enough.
This is the crash that gets to me the most.

Not really pilot error they did not know what was happening & were troubleshooting - caused some more issues created by airline NOT doing maintenance properly. Pilots were excellent they say

I live 20 minutes away from the memorial which is in Port Hueneme, California. The memorial is a sun dial that an architect built on the beach. On the dial, there is a heart placed exactly where the shadow of the hand would be pointing at 4:21 PM PST. That is the exact time the flight ended. Another feature on the dial is a few dolphins right next to the hand on dial. The dolphins are there because when the plane crashed, there were dolphins swimming there signaling that there were bodies of the victims. May the victims Rest In Peace 🕊
I lived in Santa Barbara at the time so this was very local news. Had no idea there was a memorial, will have to pay it a visit. This crash has always stood out as it must have been so terrifying for the passengers. Those pilots gave it all they could right up until the end.

Guys, if you don't know what happened was when the pilots said we're going in a dive. Not in the actual dive is just we lost vertical control so then the Alaska flight. 261 started going in a dive but it started to recover but it went in a bank angle. Then a nearby pilot told the ATC that the Alaska flight to 261 crashed into water
The fact that the movie flight was made because of this crash is wild
Without this crash there would have not been the movie flight

Airlines should seriously consider parachutes attached to the seat cushions that are already floatation devices. I’d rather take my chances jumping into the sky and trying to pull a chute than accepting my fate, at least i knew i had the power to try to survive
You would hit the fuselage and die or be drawn to the engines and die. Besides, parachutes only are effective above some heights and below some speeds; that's why they are not an option in these emergencies.
Most Airplane crashes happen during landings or takeoff, so they wouldn't be much help. PLus, at an altitude like that, there's no way you can open a aircraft door, especially in a dive like that.

@@kyletempura748Not really the design of the aircraft. AA committed a crime. People ahould have gone to prison for this. They falsified maintenance reports, they didn't do proper maintenance, they (AA) wouldn't allow an emergency landing so as not to delay flights and cut into profits. The pilots fought to control the plane to the very end, but this shouldn't have happened if ground crew did their jobs and the higher ups didn't value profit over the safety of their passengers and pilots.

They couldn’t, the vertical flap at the back of the plane would have left them all dead anyway, with ten minutes of a simple boom the plane was in full nose down, this move kept them in the sky a little longer.
