That's crazy how quiet and clean it is especially for the world's biggest city....New York city is half the size and is one of the loudest cities in the world.
Great video! Japan is the country i Adore! I've been in Japan especially in Tokyo 12times. Safety, politeness, cleanliness, culture, many things to do, to eat, to drink....it is a trip to the Future! It's better if you are talking Japanese like me but even if you don't know Japanese people are so polite to help you! Best Regards from Athens-Greece!
thats exactly what i was thinking "no loud honks or ppl talking" just very calm..wow surprised about that.. how lucky are you Gabe to travel to these fascinating place.. enjoy the week there in Tokyo..great video btw
It's great to see you're having an awesome time in Japan. It's impressive how clean Tokyo and quiet the city. I haven't been there since 1987. You should go to shinjuku, akihabara, roppongi and ginza district which are accessible by subway.
I visited Tokyo alone, knowing no one...just to go. I traveled by subway, bus and train all over Tokyo! Very safe! Beyond clean! Oh my goodness! Japanese people are beyond kind and helpful and polite! They will go out of their way to help! Just amazing! If at all possible you’ve got to visit ! Not to be missed! Polite! We don’t have to listen to their cell phones, not really talking on them in public, it’s considered rude...and it is! They wear 😷 if they are sick so they do not infect you!!! Unbelievable in today’s world! I love you Tokyo and I love your people! Thank you!
I like that a lot. Love the noise level. It's like most of the people wear similar attire also. Like a uniform almost. Very business casual. You're probably the brightest guy out there.
It’s such an organized city. It’s got so many restaurants that’s nice but, it’s difficult choosing one. Looks like a country I’d like to visit one day. Thanks for sharing your Japanese experience, Wonderful video. Keep them coming. I’ve watched most of them. Happy travels 😀
Very often I like seeing things unfold naturally without editing and loud music. But I did like the nice intro music you added here. Tokyo does looks amazing there.
This reminds me a bit of Ebisu. We were supposed to stay in Shibuya, and I ended up there because my friend booked the cheapest capsule hotel he could find in the area. I loved it because it had a more suburb feel with the great majority of people being locals. I didn't see any tourists apart from a couple at the capsule hotel. The area wasn't touristy at all, even though it had a ton of restaurants and really cool and interesting things to see. Nobody spoke English. I walked around late at night around 3/4 am since I couldn't sleep and I felt completely safe. In the morning I went back to several places that had interested me and it was just a lot of fun to people watch as the local Japanese people went about and started their day on a Wednesday morning. There were little kids, both girls and boys in their uniforms and backpacks walking and taking the train by themselves which was pretty surprising. The architecture was really something else too. Lots of slim and tall buildings next to each other with a mass criss cross of power lines on every other street in the more residential areas. It was quite an experience.
The best night view in Tokyo is, 1. The sky deck in Ropponki Hills(Absolutely the best) 2. Odaiba (Super beautiful rainbow bridge) 3. Minatomirai O-sanbashi (in Yokohama, 1h away from Tokyo by local train) Please visit one of them!
I notice you walk on the right side of the sidewalk (like an American). Everyone else going in your direction is walking on the left side of the sidewalk. 😉
i surely hope u went to the 2 major spots of Tokyo - Shibuya and Shinjuku!! The biggest insection in the world lies there in shibuya. Everyone flocks there to take a pic! Its amazing!!!
Fish and chips are the best. Was in S.Korea and couldn't eat anymore Korean food so came across 3 Irish pubs in one area and it became home for my last week :"D
Some recommendations: Shiba park and Zojo-ji temple next to the Tokyo Tower, Skytree Solamachi - free views of the city in upper floors rather than paying for Skytree view, Ippudo ramen. Enjoy!
Horse meat is just fine. Start with the horsemeat steak, then graduate to basashi. Seriously not too much different from beef. I stayed at the New Sanno Hotel and had basashi at some place on the main strip in Hiroo, and it was good times.
Hi Gabriel, It's still overwhelming to much stimulation you still need some direction with what you would like to do. Food alone looks like you have endless choices. It's just a massive place what makes it unique for a largest city is its very sprawled which maybe one of the reasons why its so quiet.
新橋(Shinbashi) has so many companies that's why this city is filled with office workers. it's a good place to find an affordable and good restaurants. But I've never heard there are some things to do for tourists...
looks like all of the office workers were out. travel all around the globe and its Fish & Chips at an Irish Pub in Japan, well It works, I too don't always eat the local food, I do try to try to eat at local and small businesses when I can I usually get a better meal and few stories which as a Photojournalist I always enjoy. Reminds of my Military times, I was stationed in England and my unit went to what was then West Germany and after checking in and getting settled, checked out the Gasthouses and restaurants a lot them went to McDonalds LOL I ended up having some Schnitzel which was very good.
Beautiful and clean city but it's soooo quiet. If a Mediterranean had to live there, in a few weeks would suffer from depression ! Would you come back in Greece for summer this year Gabriel ?
Hi ! I’m glad that you are enjoying your trip in Japan :) btw did you walk around Tokyo station and Marunouchi/Otemachi area ? It’s very sophisticated and beautiful area. Especially between Tokyo station and Otemachi station is really great ambiance. It’s a really cool business district and walking around there is really good, so I highly recommend that you go.
For you Cellphone service issues; go to your carrier’s website and check if your plan doesn’t support it. Do manual network search and select network manually if you think there is an issue with a particular network provider. People can definitely do international roaming in Japan. You must be missing out something. I read in one of the comments that you are using T-Mobile. I saw their website and they do support roaming in Japan. Call them to change your plan if it doesn’t support. I hope you are using newest mobile handsets which covers 4G frequency bands in Japan.
Yeah I talked to them right after I arrived and we walked through all the steps and it still didn't work. Not sure what's going on. Maybe an issue with the phone itself, which is an old phone a friend gave me because my other phone stopped working.
Gabriel Traveler If possible check the model number of your cellphone in settings and let me know. I can check if the handset has an issue. Do you get WiFi in various places of Tokyo ? You can consider iPhone 7 or 7 Plus. It is not expensive anymore and covers all bands. A full time traveler must possess a phone like this.
Hi Gab, been following you along with your Journey. If someone wants to starts making video what is an Gopro hero 6 alternative. Sjcam? or any other camera
Hello Gabriel. One question, from your travel experience, do you suppose all island countries are expensive? or is it only because of living standards.
Gabriel, hit up Tsukiji fish market. You’ll have proper sushi there. Get yourself a Suica card. It’ll be very helpful with transportation and you can keep reloading it with cash.
Gabriel Traveler actually, you’re not allowed in the wholesale area until after 9am. As for the tuna auctions, you’ll need to be up early for that. But the wholesale area is really cool because you might catch one of the shops slicing up a whole tuna and there’s lots of interesting seafood to see. Please also be careful of the guys on the carts. They’re working so just be mindful of them. If I may also suggest, try checking out Mt Takao. It’s west of Tokyo but not too far. It offers many hiking paths to the summit and there’s a beer garden up there too! It’s a nice escape from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo. Enjoy and have fun!

Love your vids Gabriel. Just a quick tip on the language part. You can use ( mata ne ) which means "see you again "rather than "sayonara" which means you will go away forever and will never meet us again.
Thanks. Yeah I'd read that sayonara is no longer used, so I've made sure not to say that to anyone in person. Good to know about mata ne, although it's likely I won't remember and wouldn't say it correctly anyway, unless I hear someone say it to me. Learning Japanese will have to wait for another trip here.
So many shops and restaurants. How do they survive with all that competition. And Tokyo looks much more interesting than Osaka or Kyoto. Lots of hustle and bustle.
I am thinking about quitting my job in 5 months to travel to Japan and southeast Asia.japan for 1 month and Thailand etc for 3 months.have about 12000 Australian dollars and will be solo in Japan. Cool video you are an inspiration because you rely on no-one but you self. Travelling solo is so liberating. Will be checking out Myanmar after Japan have been told it's the most interesting country in Asia due to its lack of western influence.i am a 43 year old single Australian male and I want to enjoy life. Have worked for twenty years
Cool man, go for it, have an awesome trip! $12,000 AUS will last a long time in SE Asia. I'd like to see more of Myanmar, only spent a day there when I did a visa run from Thailand.
Really, you're in the Shimbashi neighborhood? If you see me around feel free to say hello. I ran into a couple viewers my first night here and we all went out for a beer. I'm going to be a bit too busy the next few days to make any more plans, but do feel free to say howdy.
Every city needs a piece of tokyo. This city is like heaven.
That's crazy how quiet and clean it is especially for the world's biggest city....New York city is half the size and is one of the loudest cities in the world.
You have obviously never been to India if you think NY is even close to the loudest.
Rex McArtor that's correct....never been.
Kay Flip WOW
Kay Flip lol. It sounds like it is car mating season there. They arent just horns, they are all novelty horns.
And it doesnt stop. 2am and you still hear it.
Great video! Japan is the country i Adore! I've been in Japan especially in Tokyo 12times.

We use to have that in America before diversity took over
It's such a busy place but so quiet and respectful. I love it! I can't wait to visit
Zak Wright You are always welcome:)🇯🇵
Ken narville
Lmao, getting little soft aren’t you?
I’ll also love to visit Japan.
Clean, calm n busy streets... Nice video Gabe ❤❤❤
Thanks Suru. :)
Japanese is the most civilised country in the world. They set an example to the rest of the world.
Excuse yourself. Please explain for the rude comment.

No Europeans are
Japanese people are so polite
So they don't get felt up during rush hours but the rest of the time?

Will you get groped on the Tokyo subway? Here's the answer (well, maybe):

Except guys by the black truck with the Japanese flag on it. They are right wing racists.

Oh yeah you’re all over this video too.
Korean should be ashamed you’ve been doing this for over five years.
It's great to see you're having an awesome time in Japan. It's impressive how clean Tokyo and quiet the city. I haven't been there since 1987. You should go to shinjuku, akihabara, roppongi and ginza district which are accessible by subway.

Remember to walk on the left. It’s opposite there. I caught myself doing it wrong too
Really enjoying your Japan vlogs. Love your no BS kind of portrayal of a city. Have fun and stay safe👍. We're missing you here in India.
Thank you for this video. Really made me relive my beautiful experience when I visited Tokyo 💕
Another great video from the master of world travel. Thanks Gabriel, I always enjoy your videos!
Wow..love the civility. So clean and quiet.
The city is so quiet...amazing
There are very few cars...
I like that a lot. Love the noise level. It's like most of the people wear similar attire also. Like a uniform almost. Very business casual. You're probably the brightest guy out there.
I meant that literally. You have on a bright blue shirt.
Hey man I highly recommend walking on the left side of the sidewalk in Tokyo. It annoys the locals to walk on the right like we do in the US
I'll keep it in mind!
Simply outstanding episode from Japan. Thanks..
Thank you for sharing your videos makes me worried. Excited for my time to visit in a few months 2023.
Streets are clean. Alleys are interesting, safe places to walk into and discover.
Beautiful for a city so big. No anxiety. Awsome. They got good going on.
So clean city,amazing
I love this type of video! Really gives you a pov of how it would really be like in real life to walk around the streets if you visited! Nice vid 👍🏼
So cool. Thank you for taking us with you Gabriel.
40 million, that's almost nine times the population of Ireland. Looks great. Can't get over how clean and quite it is.
Walking in back alleys was one of my favorite thing I did in Tokyo!
I was noticing how super clean and orderly it seems
Wonderful video! 💗 Greetings from London! 🇬🇧
I love your Japan videos. It's definitely a country I'd like to visit in the not too distant future. Thanks for inspiration. Greetings from Munich.
I liked that they have 2 sides for bicycles in the bicycles lane, its like a real separated street for bicycles.
I have to say even though Buddhism have its roots in India, it actually flowered in Japan. Such a beautiful city.
Very often I like seeing things unfold naturally without editing and loud music. But I did like the nice intro music you added here. Tokyo does looks amazing there.

Tokoyo is amazing. You add 2 vedios in the end screen, how do you chose them on what basis, just randomly?
I just pick a couple of my better videos somewhat randomly.
Wonderful country and people in Japan! I hope to go back again there, in 2019, after 12 years.
Tokyo looks amazing when night falls, I hope to visit someday.
You have to make videos from Shinjuku(at night) and Shibuya. Eat lots of sushi. Visit the Tokyo Skytree.
I Love Tokyo and Tokyo Loves Me!
Fish and chips are the best. Was in S.Korea and couldn't eat anymore Korean food so came across 3 Irish pubs in one area and it became home for my last week :"D
Good plan, I would probably do the same.
Definitely, on my travel list 👍
This video is the bees knees, i love you`re of the cuff stuff.
I'd love to stay a week in Tokyo! It's a wonderful city that has a lot to offer.
Some recommendations: Shiba park and Zojo-ji temple next to the Tokyo Tower, Skytree Solamachi - free views of the city in upper floors rather than paying for Skytree view, Ippudo ramen. Enjoy!
I just like the food there. It’s soooo good.
"Do you notice how quiet it is here in Japan?" 5 seconds later a car beeps its horn hahaha
It's so cool watching this knowing that we're in the same place at the same time. We're staying in Sugamo.
Japan is the place where i want to go and sleep its looks so peaceful lol
You have come here Tokyo at the hottest and most unpleasant season !!
I recommend you to come again after October :)
Horse meat is just fine. Start with the horsemeat steak, then graduate to basashi. Seriously not too much different from beef. I stayed at the New Sanno Hotel and had basashi at some place on the main strip in Hiroo, and it was good times.

Robot Restaurant - Shinjuku
Think I've said enough
Sssshhhh, you're not suppose to tell people.
EinkOLED - lol, it's a tourist attraction. Go to Tokyo Tantra or one of the other burlesque clubs, now you're talking.
Who doesn't love a restaurant named "Rump Gap"!! that would go over well in America. :)

Tao 道 means 'road'. A construction worker in Japan would stop hammering while you pass by.
Check out Shimokitazawa and Koenji.
You got to do the Tokyo Skytree! :)
I went there today actually, video coming soon. It was cloudy though so I didn't go to the top.
Wow amazing

Cool. Yes I went to Iceland a couple years ago: ua-cam.com/users/gabejedmosearch?query=Iceland
How clean are those streets and back alleys, with no graffiti, or overflowing skip bins and footpaths you could eat off
Some places are pretty dirty.
Japan is impressive. Please don't turn your camera so fast I get sea sick then.

I love all your videos
So many shops and restaurants. How do they survive with all that competition. And Tokyo looks much more interesting than Osaka or Kyoto. Lots of hustle and bustle.
Shimbashi is pretty sedate, going to be great getting reports from Shinjuku, Shibuya, Harajuku and around Tokyo.
And Akihabara
And Ikebukuro
Ally way in melbourne Australia are also cool places to explore. Some of the best in the world.
Great, I'll check them out when I go there.
