I wanted to see square G-Shock with MIP display but Casio made it very thick, it would be great if made something thiner for daily use.
Maybe a normal 5600e with MiP screen...

They delivered a Sportswatch/Fitnesstracker. This thing isn’t smart and way overpriced for what it actually provides. But ok, Gshock Fanboys will love it……

@@Nnnope ok, but why you call it first “smartwatch”? It only differs from other sports/fitness trackers by the 200m WR rating which is more a marketing feature than something really useful (divers not using a Casio Gshock either). Still, my opinion is: an overpriced Fanboy Gshock, horrible UI as all Casio MIP watches and a micro display

Tough solar (or at least solar powered and usb charge); bluetooth for notifications (but also radiocontrolled because is super cool); MIP display and you have a perfect timepiece. G-Shock square are the best and the most beautiful in the world but this one is full of stuff that others do better (and that I'm not interested in).
Does this watch model have a tide table calibrated by the cell phone application as well as other models in the G-Shock line?
that anxiety of those bland smartwatches, that is a paraphrase:
"a watch cant last long on someone's wrist if it tries to replace its smartphone companion entirely."
with this remastered square, it doesn't have that 'anxiety', very low profiled that lookers dont even cant tell its an ordinary watch with smarts.

another smart watch i own for the very same reason is Garmin Instinct Crossover Tactical, a watch i think the new Rangeman GPR-B1000 should become.
Tempted on picking up a DW-H5600 soon, as recently my GBD-100 died to water damage after a watchmaker misplaced the o-ring in a battery replacement.
By comparing the new manual and my experience with the GBD-100, these are the negatives that make me somewhat hesitant on this upgrade:
- The interface is incredibly slow to use, requiring to wait for the ~1hz screen refresh for every single input, including incrementing time values and now entering modes after selecting them.
This would be solved by having it process all given inputs separately from refreshing the screen and to increment in units of 10 when holding the button.
- The new app lacks a dark theme (white text on black background), which makes using the app at night disturbing to the very sleep quality it tracks.
It is better to make this an option in the app settings, or to only give a dark theme like G-Shock MOVE and other older apps.
- Sending activity data from the watch to the app has proven to be incredibly unreliable, once the watch misses a few synchronisation attempts the feature breaks completely.
Receiving notifications is reliable, so I know for sure that the Bluetooth connection is not the problem, thus it is a software issue in the app or watch.
- The lack of media controls is quite an omission, as it's much easier to use the pushers on a watch while sporting than to fumble with a phone's touch-screen, the latter misbehaving if it gets wet.

looking to purchase my first g-shock. Does anyone know if cases will be available to customize the look, or are we stuck with what we purchase? I'd want to swap out the straps or the bezels to have options.

Love the fact it's continuing the design language, but with this type of design, not being able to have touch screen it's what limiting it being a competitive smart watch, the proposition is a little akward
This is not meant to be a smartwatch neither a fitness tracker, can you get me a smartwatch that can take 200 m of water pressure or can be thrown from 10 feet?

A problem with touch-screens is that they suffer from ghost presses when wet, or require a weak plastic layer.
Neither would work for a G-SHOCK, these watches staying fully usable even when under water.
And Casio's watches are built like actual watches, with standard pushers and a loose module, which makes them more reliable and easy to maintain but also makes it harder to add a touch-screen.
People will go for apple watch lol , i love casio but I would not spend this much money

The only thing I think could have been made better was addition of better solar charging capabilities
The biggest plus was the battery life in Casio watches. People want the same watches with sharp displays. No smart please.

@@vinnividetti it's going to sell for $300 lol. Might as well just buy a real smart watch. I love Casio but they gotta price these things accordingly if they're to be taken seriously. Sure its more durable, but the features and functionality are a joke for the asking price.
If you make teh screen smaller it would be a great thing to finally not seeimg it well. Please put a bigger frame and more useless funcions. Take away the awfol solar charging. And please, let those horrible straps.
