I’m 52 and I still remember the Japanese geta shoes we tried on in kindergarten, the ones with the two blocks on the bottom. I thought that was the neatest thing I had ever done, so far.

I don't feel that these shoes have a Japanese feel, but I think the way they are made is interesting.
The shape of these shoes is very different from that of geisha shoes, but they seem to resemble the shoes of oiran (courtesans). Oiran had to wear such high shoes because they were heavily decorated and dragged.

Потому что вы плохо знаете историю костюма. Традиционный вид обуви для богатых слоев населения европейских городов . Особенно итальянских. Цокколи, чопины, пьянелле. Носили их для того, чтоб не пачкать одежду в нечистотах струящихся по улицам. Средневековый европейский город - одно большое отхожее место

"Japanese Geisha Shoes" I think are called Zori or Geta and do not look like this. These would be classifoed as Chopines which were prevalant in Renaisance Italy and were based on the middle eastern bath house slippers but taken to extremes so that women could show off the full length of their gowns.
