Ran across Yellow Spot in a speakeasy in Dallas recently. Was absolutely blown away. The flavors are only rivaled with the finish. You can just tell it is of high quality in all aspects. All of a sudden I wasn't disapointed they were out of E.H. Taylor any more.
I just caught your "Spot" vids this last week so decided to go after the Yellow because of seeing this and your overwhelmingly positive rec. I'm primarily on the Scotch train but I've had a couple Red Breasts, 12 and 15. So I went on the hunt and just had my first pour. This was worth it and it didn't disappoint.
If any of you are travelling, the best value Yellow Spot is 60 euro at Dublin airport. In the US the price is crazy high at around $120. Whatever you pay it is indeed wonderful stuff and there is always a bottle on my shelf.
Just picked up a bottle of Yellow spot to start off my friends first group tasting club. We normally do a Thursday night pissa and whiskey night at our local bar but with covid, we decided to start our own tasting. As I said, I found a bottle of yellow spot for $82 at the Reno costco and will christen our new monthly gathering. Cheers.
Man, this sure sounds like a really nice Irish Whiskey. Unfortunately I have no experience with any of the spot whiskey's, I may have to change that. Cheers Bill, great review.
It’s a great whiskey, and it has a very broad appeal. Won’t find many people who don’t like it. I was relieved to find I prefer it to the 15. It’s a steal at $75.
Wow this Yellow Spot is fantastic. Its my 1st bottle in the spot series and I love it. Its delicate with notes of honey and citrus touch of oak the sherry comes thru but doesn't dominate this is one fine sipper
I’m new to Irish whiskey. So far, the Green Spot is my favorite. But I think you just convinced me to buy a Yellow Spot! My local retailer thanks you. My wife curses you! 😁 Cheers!
thanks for the review, I just picked it up at costco a hour ago after seeing your review. going to find out how it compares to redbreast 15, same price range. I got yellow spot for 79.99 at costco....
I have been listening to your channel for about the past year - and always appreciate your clear straight forward and educational reviews. I have an unopened bottle of this one that I got after really enjoying a dram several years ago - but it’s been some time since I’ve had my last taste. Your review motivated me to pick up a second bottle of the Yellow Spot. Its been sitting in my shopping cart for awhile now, and watching your review finally put me over the edge - I literally just pulled the trigger! Thanks and all the best! GaryK
I think Spot Whiskey needs to pay me a commission! I'm happy to hear you've been enjoying the channel for so long! That's wonderful. I hope you enjoy it :)
I don't tend to like sherry finish on anything other than peated scotch but I seem to remember liking Yellow Spot quite a bit when i did an impromptu irish whiskey tasting around last St. Pattys day. Must be that the bourbon and malaga carry it for me. Guess I better revisit it.
Another great video!! Because I'm early this time, I'd like to ask something I won't get the chance to on other times. How often do you buy new bottles?? And how often do you drink (casually)/taste whiskey(for videos or to make notes)? Love your videos ♥️
Thanks Krupal! Full transparency, I get a good amount of bottles sent to me at this point. Aside from that I personally buy a bottle probably once or twice a month. I drink probably 3 nights a week.
@@TheWhiskeyDictionary That's good to hear :) I really like your videos, especially because of how friendly you are in them. Just getting into whiskey so your videos are really amazing to watch. I really thought you'd be drinking more often but 3 nights a week seems just about right and in the sweet spot.
It's easy to get carried away drinking. I see it in some of my fellow WhiskeyTubers and I see it in some of my fans... I tend to only overdrink on live streams, aside from that I will often go a week without a drink, but when I'm researching for a video I will have a couple of drams.
Opened a bottle last week, it is a very nice whisky and I paid for it arround 65$. Would I pay a 100$ for this one? I think for that price you can find better ones, but Yellow Spot 12 is indeed good whisky.
@@TheWhiskeyDictionary yellow spot or redbreast 15? since they're equal in price for me...have had redbreast 12 and 12 cask strength and love them both but none of the spots, though i did just pick up a green spot out of curiousity sake (on sale for $49) the other day lol
@@TheWhiskeyDictionary it’s cool you take the time to reply. This is a chuckle comment not a criticism, I watch all your stuff most of the time tasting with you

Interesting story there, Bill, about Yellow Spot. I didn't know it's history - but it's on my shopping list now.
I've just finished my bottle of YS this evening, it's a great whiskey.
Wonderful video as usual, thank you !

Nice job Bill. The Yellow Spot is a truly great Irish whiskey. One of my favourites. Sláinte.
Thanks!! I saw this bottle on the self and was straddling the fence! I heard all the accolades that you echoed so that is confirmation for me.
Yellow Spot is top shelf stuff! Agree 100% on the creme brulee and honey for sure! Solid review my friend!
Thanks Matt! I'm glad to hear it matches up with your notes!

I'm glad that you got such an awesome price on that
Would love to try this but 100 bucks is a bit steep. West Cork 12 year port or sherry cask is fabulous as a 12 year single malt Irish Whiskey fwiw

Love your reviews, and advice

One day I'll pay off my car loan and this is going to be my personal reward for it! I love Green Spot but I want to try all the spots.
How close are you?
@@TheWhiskeyDictionary I'm not close lol
I picked up four bottles lol. Yellow spot is my absolute favorite whiskey for the price. It really is hard to beat for $100 a bottle.
We're learning more about whiskey each day, thanks for the great review. Yellow Spot sounds like a winner.
It definitely is. I'm a big fan!
Great review. It's just under $100 here in Texas but definitely agree with you worth every damn penny.

Ah the perks of living in Ireland where I can get 2 bottles of this lovely whiskey for the price of one in the states !

I think your other recommended bottle over $100 was Glenmorangie Signet
Oooh yea. Oh man that's a good scotch

I'm surprised this is so expensive in the US. I can pick a bottle of yellow spot up for $79 CDN. Sometimes even less when it goes on sale.

Wow. $79? Where are you? BC LC is $110. That’s a steel at your price. But bulk.
