The song really isn't about the blessed herb. It's sort of a play on words. The song is actually in reference to the old saying "the pot calling the kettle black".

There's audio bleeding through at the beginning of the track (echoing the audio bleed on Zeppelin's Whole Lotta Love)
In 1985 Willie Dixon sued Led Zeppelin, claiming that Whole Lotta Love plagiarised his own You Need Love, which was released as a single by Muddy Waters in 1962. ("Eye hole deep in Muddy Waters.")
Jimmy Page was known for denigrating other bands for referencing his songs, despite Led Zeppelin themselves being involved in a string of lawsuits over copyright and plagiarism issues.
Many of the songwriters plagiarised by Page were deceased. ("Rob the grave", "Practically raised the dead.")
Stairway to Heaven contains the lyrics, "And my spirit is crying for leaving." The intro for this song was the subject of a major lawsuit when the band Spirit claimed it was lifted from their 1971 instrumental Taurus. Though the suit was not filed until 2014, the original's songwriter Randy Wolfe noted in 1997 that Zeppelin opened for Spirit on their first US tour, writing "people always ask me why Stairway to Heaven sounds exactly like Taurus". ("Weeping shades of cozened indigo" - the color indigo is often associated with spiritualism and especially with the zodiac sign Taurus.)
Zeppelin's The Lemon Song contains the lyrics, "Squeeze me baby, 'till the juice runs down my leg." In 1972, ARC music sued Led Zeppelin, claiming that they had plagiarised Chester Burnett (Howlin' Wolf) and a settlement was reached out of court. Chester Burnett is now given songwriting credit for The Lemon Song. ("Got lemon juice up in your eye.")
Jimmy Page's drug use was famous. In 2003 he said, "for me drugs were an integral part of the whole thing, right from the beginning, right to the end." It's notable that he also claimed, "I don't really remember much of what happened", a statement that might be used to defend Zeppelin's repeated plagiarism. My son auditioned in electric guitar for Berklee College of Music with Tool’s “Parabola”.... I don’t think they knew what hit them. A little different from the typical musical choices used for auditions- but it worked. He was accepted early- great song if you want to add it to the Tool reaction list 😁😁😁🔥🔥🔥

You can just pick any one of their songs and it will be greatness but one of my top favs will always be Aenima! PLEASE do that song🤞It is the epitome of everything I personally feel about the world and how it desperately needs the evil flushed out from it. You have no idea of the genius that is Maynard. When you discover what that man has accomplished and is still, it really makes you (or at least me) feel like such a lazy waste of space and it makes me want to get my ass up and start doing some shit that is worth while!!

The greatest all around musicians ive personally ever heard in my 52 years on this planet n i know all music except opera... ya i know a shit ton about jazz, counrty, rock blues, pop, metal, prog, death metal, black metal, disco, folk, soul, rap until abput 1990 and so on.. bla bla bla, my point is that theres no other bands that sound or write like tool.
