Tool , best band ever !! Tour right four guys , Bass Justin Chancellor Guitar 🎸 Adam Jones, Percussion Danny aka “The Octopus “ Carey and headed by one of the greatest singers song writers on the planet 🌎 Maynard James Keenan. #TOOLARMY .. Lateralus is one of their top songs, but everything they record is Pure Gold ...
"Master of puppets" and "one" by Metallica 👍
The Mars Volta - viscera eyes
I see Tool, I click.
Yep
Yep
Yep yep
Every damn time....
You can help it you have to see the reaction
The song is about hypocrisy, pot calling the kettle black...
And the double entendre' of pot and being high.
Specifically about the hypocrisy within the court system of America’s handling of marijuana laws and low-level non-violent drug offenders for the past 80 years or so.
@@plexus thank you for bringing it home!
I've also heard some rumours that The Pot is Maynards reaction to Jimmy Page accusing him of copying some certain song lyrics from Led Zeppelin. Apparently Page criticized him for using the lyrics "cozened shades of indigo" and "lemon juice in your eye" in an earlier Tool song, saying that Maynard stole original lyrics from them. So, apparently Maynard proved that those particular lines weren't original to led Zeppelin. Those were actually common lines, especially the "lemon juice" line, with early blues musicians. So the song is basically him calling out Jimmy Page for accusing him of something that led Zeppelin was already guilty of. Now, obviously I don't know how true this is, but the story really makes the lyrics from The Pot make a lot of sense if this is truly about the beef between MJK and Jimmy Page. I still want to look deeper into this to see if it's true or not.
WOW RLY
I hope you understand the door you just opened for yourself. My life has never been the same since.
nice
naaaaaayyyy waaayy higihh!!!!! haaiiighhhhh
Agreeeeed!
^
If you think that's a door, just wait till you see what there really is to find.
This song is about hypocrites in courtrooms. Many members of the jury, lawyers, and judges often pass judgment and determine penalty of those who commit crimes that they themselves are guilty of too. It's the mentality that the overall court has when they punish those deemed guilty that makes them think they are superior and hold themselves above other people. The phrase "The Pot calling the Kettle Black" is an old European term for hypocrisy. The Pot in this case is a double entendre relating to both that phrase and drug intoxication.
It goes much deeper than you mentioned!!
Sorry I commented before seeing your Entire comment but can also relate how the Masses of this World are continuously manipulated by the powers that be Worldwide yet talking out both sides of their mouths by politicians and media as well!!
@The Black Queen
Hey friend! 🙌🏻😁🔥
@@andyandalex AYE!!!!!!! How you been? I assume this is Andy since Alex has his own account he uses to comment?
@The Black Queen
Yeah it’s Andy! Hope you’ve been well friend! 😁
Other than going back and starting at the beginning of the discography, this song is the best Tool entry point for most non-metal listeners, IMO.
It doesn’t overwhelm, but it impresses. It doesn’t give you 100% of what the band is capable of, but it is a good sampling of it.
BTW, I saw the world premiere of this song in 2006 at Coachella. Hearing Maynard open up a cappella and singing high like that was mind-boggling.
This. Comment. Perfect.
This is definitely a good entry level Tool song but believe me dude. They get waaaaay better. My opinion of course.
Check out 'Eulogy'.
He will have a lot of nothing to say after.
YES! Eulogy is the BEST!!
#1 favorite Tool song, without question. Glad someone else appreciated that one so much, so often overlooked! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Pneuma
I agree, good entry song
Bruh, if that scream at the end impressed you, wait til you hear The Grudge
Tommy Casual You got that right. Primal scream
Facts!
You mean Ticks and Leeches?
He holds that note for like 28 seconds, in the Grudge.
Wait til he hears their entire catalog.
Their music is a "tool" to open your mind...
Ooohhhh, now I get it!
That was always my interpretation too
Yet a lot of Tool fans are closeminded
@@IvefoundthetruthonMay And a lot are not, just like other groups of people.
Here is my tool journey...... Heard the bass line from the song Sober. 30 years ago from 1000 yards away on the second stage of lalapalooza. I have been hooked ever since.
I am 43 and your reaction is still what tool makes me feel
Haha, Jojo getting into one of the deepest Rabbit Holes, just please Jojo, I really really really Beg you, watch lyrics videos and not official videos, please for the sake of...
Well, welcome to Tool! Spiral Out!
Oh and the lyrics are most likely about Hypocrisy, pot calling the kettle black. Kangaroo court means a group of people hold a trial and punish the individual without due process or evidence, it might mean goverment and their representatives, judges, police and so on, send people to prison due having drugs, they also use themselves, well maybe. Liar, lawyer mirror for ya, what's the difference. Might be about DMT too..., the Song might even be a diss to Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin apparently accusing Tool of stealing riffs...it is Tool, just take whatever it means to you. Song means something else to every individual...xD
Kinda hard to since they've pretty much all been disabled after Tool hit streaming platforms
Honestly no, some of those lyrics videos are wrong and have distracting visuals. Peep the official audio, and have the lyrics off to the side from Genius
Exactly! Never rely on another's opinions, think for yourself, question everything
You were on such a right track until you brought up DMT and Jimmy Page... then you just squashed all your credibility.
@@plexus As said lyrics can have 1000 meanings to 1000 people, but I dont think that Jimmy Page diss is far fetched. Since Led Zeppelin was critical towards Tool and Pearl Jam, some other bands too, when they covered Led Zeppelin songs on their concerts. Led Zeppelin is known for being around courtrooms cause of plagiarism..like the song Whole Lotta Love, which is pretty much a rip-off of a song by Muddy Waters, and the Lemon song of Led zeppelin when they sing about squeezing lemon juice...vut they called the song Lemon song or something else I am not sure...hence the lyrics Eyehole deep in Muddy Waters, you practically raise the dead. Shades of cozened indigo...got lemon juice in your eyes. Muddy waters a band Zeppelin Ripped off, lemon juice another indication at zeppelin..some plagiarised artist were already dead at the time..hence raising dead...and indigo is a color apparently associated with the sign Taurus...which is zeppelin was once again blamed for ripping it off in Stairway to Heaven...so I am not sure why I would lose credibilty since this are facts. And I am just saying it might be about that. I am not claiming it is about that...who the hell knows exactly what it is about..Maynard I guess.
Every song has a deep, deep meaning that has a level of intelligence that many miss. They tell the same story with their instruments. Unlike anything. Phenomenal
And the band members are:
Danny Carey-drums
Justin Chancellor-bass
Maynard James Keenan-vocals
Adam Jones-guitar
Hope that helps.
Thanks for that I was looking for that info tool definitely rules
Tool is an entire mood. If you ain’t in “that” mood. Then... ya know. 🤷🏼♀️😂🤘🏼😉
Since Neil Peart of Rush died early this year Danny Carey of Tool is now the best drummer in the world. Pneuma Danny Carey drum cam video!
No bill Bruford Carl palmer Terry Bozzio and Billy Cobham's still alive so sorry Danny you're great but you're not them. Dannys 4 favorite drummers..... Well if you're counting Neil 5. And even Mr. Carey would tell you that. But modern drummers..... he and Tim Alexander from Primus are it.
No Minerva. Danny Carey is the best drummer in the world. Of course he'd say those cats are better. It'd be weird if he didn't in the sense of ego. But Danny is the best of all time. I believe he surpassed neil many years ago. I guess it's all a matter of opinion really. To me Danny Carey is the best drummer to have ever walked the planet. Although I respect your opinion too. I love people that love music
The thing that sets Danny apart from the others, except maybe Mike Portnoy is the fact that most of what Tool plays is odd time signatures, these guys are playing stuff most musicians can’t even wrap their minds around.
In your opinion of coarse...
Those two are my favorite drummers ever for sure, but if we’re talking pure skill on who is the greatest alive, clearly none of you have ever heard of Virgil Donati
The lead singer is Maynard from "A Perfect Circle", think you've reacted to their music also. Love this jam, the bass the differenct cord changes are insane same as Perfect Circle!
As a tool fan of 15 years, I love watching you trying to wrap your head around what’s going on... I’m still trying to wrap my head around what they’re doing.
Well that's reverend Maynard (Vocals), Justin (Bass), Adam (Lead), and Danny (Drum wizard). Listen to them with lyrics so you can decipher the songs for yourself.
Tool isn't just music, its a whole experience. I hope you enjoy exploring Tool as much as I have. The lead singer, Maynard, also sings in A Perfect Circle and another band called Puscifer.. so, the journey doesn't have to end with just Tool. Happy trails, friend.
Welcome to the rabbit hole that is Tool brother! Looking forward to more reactions. Spiral out 🌀
My man if you like this track..just wait until you hear every single song on every single Album they put out🔥🔥Tool is on another level
Well some i would say are definitely NOT worth a react video. Useful Idiot, Cesaro Summability, Disgustipated, Message to Harry Manback...
It's a deep thinker music
“46 and 2” is a must listen!!!
A bit higher grade for him at present... ease into it a bit. 😉
@@jaycordner3890 wym that's the first song from tool my dad showed me

“I don’t even know what to say about that”
Yeah...that will happen a LOT with Tool. 😉
And with their lyrics, their are usually multiple layers. The deeper you go, the more you find...and the more you grow.
Tool are masters of their craft. Amazing drums, guitars, vocals, and lyrics.
Welcome to the Tool Army my brother. Get ready to spiral out. 🤘
Man, I feel like we've been best friends for years after seeing your reaction to a very special part of my life. Thank you for this.
Hahaha, it so hilarious watching kids that have not been exposed to “real” music accidentally stumble onto Tool and then they give me a first row seat to watching their brains explode. This is a rabbit hole that never ends man, but totally worth it!!!!
It's the fucking best 😂😂😂
Word
this rabbit hole reaches the other side of the world.
while i don't enjoy most modern music music is music there is not real or fake music. let people enjoy what they want to
I love watching these to first watch people’s heads explode, and then watch them fall in love hard....
What he means when he says you have been high, hes talkin about standing on your soap box, not being stoned. The song is about hypocrites.
Jambi is one of Tools best.
Right in two is one of tools best.
You are both correct ☑
This is a comment that could really spiral out of control
Are there light waves streaming from your head too? Do you see that? Oohhh.......
@@jimmyg.6487 hi 👋 babe!!!! How did I know you'd be here !!!
Besides Rush, Tool is one of the best progressive rock bands in history... Danny Carey, the drummer is a massive fan of Neil Peart, the drummer of Rush. RIP Neil...
My 2 favorites maybe Ill change my name to Kaynard Meenan
@@timann80 Led Zeppelin is my favorite band, so it's kind of a tribute to both. But you can't go wrong with Tool either...
Rush and The Who are two of the least "rock-and-roll" bands to me. I just can't take them seriously. Musicianship? Sure it's there. The music just doesn't move me in any way.
"Besides Rush." Lmao. Pink Floyd shits all over Rush, just saying. LMAO.
rush is no where near the top of the list or anywhere near as good as Tool
Tool Army Here! Have fun! ❤❤
I like how, without even knowing, you're kinda dancing around the same way Maynard does on stage haha
TOOL is thoroughly psychedelic and deep. At some point you MUST DO "46 and 2"
46= current chromosomes in the human genome.
2= evolution/ assention.
( Do lyric videos then get into a couple of the videos)
Wow just spell it out for him why don't you? 🤦♂️
Hey, he’s a college boy now. This is his tutorial. In weirdness!
"They have really deep meanings in their lyrics, that I haven't quite figured out yet..." 🤣 Just wait, bro. You'll find that with most of their songs! Have a fun journey.👍
With Tool, lyrics are very necessary! They write some of the most in depth lyrics in music about very discussion-worthy topics. They are a very creative band! Now, a lot of people will tell you do lyric videos for them, but unfortunately, most of them were taken down when Tool's music was made available on streaming services. So just have the lyrics pulled up next to you. That way, you can do their music videos too (if it gets blocked, dispute it and they will release it). They don't have many videos, but the ones they do have are really artistic in nature. Most of them are actually directed by their guitarist Adam Jones who has a background in video production.
If you like Tool, check out Maynard's other bands, A Perfect Circle and Puscifer! All of them are deep. You'll be stuck in the rabbit hole that is Maynard James Keenan!
Don’t call the kettle black….ever
So happy to follow you on your new journey! Thoroughly enjoyed your Queen and Freddie journey. Thank you for doing these and being open minded about great music ❤️🎶
Decoding Tool songs can be quite a challenge. Their lyrics are seldom straightforward. They really make you think. But to me their musicianship is what makes them so special. Go down that Tool rabbit hole... you won't regret it!
If you're going to listen to Tool, the lyrics are Extremely important cause a message being sent!! Very Cerebral band!! HYPOCRISY is the message but goes Much deeper than that as well as most of their material!! Keep it up!!
"And band called Tool sounds like they be plenty of work."
Dude. You nailed it.
We need to be cognisant that he is still young... I find almost all the young reactors are not lyrically inclined.... They will have to mature and grow into the meanings behind each song..
If the scream got your attention, do the grudge! It got everything, deep lyrics, awesome vocals and instruments.. 👌
" Weeping shades of Cozened Indigo" meaning: "Cozen" (def: dishonest, false or fake to act with artful deceit) and "Indigo" is a plant used to make a dye for the color of dark blue . in this song the phrase "weeping shades of cozened Indigo" means; ' crying fake tears'. Then added in the kicker of "...Got lemon juice up in your...Eye' lemon juice or the spray from citrus rind is a way to force the eyes to cry.
its simply a brilliant reference.
I NEVER CLICKED A VIDEO SO FAST BRO! You’ve gotta hear Pneuma
Not only that, the drum cam live for Pneuma
Vic Firth drum cam of Danny playing Pneuma
Why Pneuma? It's mediocre at best
Easy... . Pneauma should be the finale...

Im so honored to accompany you on your Journey to this tool ....
I have NEVER seen anyone be able to not headbang the 5th riff.. this guy is like a kid in a candy store I love it!
The best description of Maynard's voice I've read was from a Rolling Stone article back in '93, where the writer referred to it as "insect-like". I always thought that description captured both the quavery quality of his delivery as well as the creepy, sometimes droning timbre.
Must be guys. Almost every woman I know, myself included, finds Maynard's voice smooth as silk and panty-melting. I could listen to his voice all day every day - wait, I mostly do! There is exactly ZERO about his voice that is insect-like - what he uses when appropriate for what he is getting across is called "nasal" or "head voice" and he also has aspects of throat singing when he adds that background "mmmm" or "nnnn" sound before/around the word he is singing (most obvious in APC's "Three Libras"). It is sheer talent and control and mastery over his instrument.
Bro I’m impressed you nailed the head bobbing at the beginning, perfectly in time 🤘
You just opened up a box of crazy wrapped in amazing! It’s hard to get any better than Tool. These guys are on another level bro. You can listen to one song 20 times and find something new every time. True masters. These dudes are deep as fuck! 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
This was my first ever TOOL song too😄 - been in love with them ever since lol.
I suggested them for you. All members are fantastic at their craft - vocalist, drummer, bass, guitar, all of them!
Tool inspires all walks of life. We are one. It's a spiritual awekening, feeds the soul. This art will last forever.
That smile at 7:30 was priceless! So glad you got the tool experience:)

It’s entertaining watching people react to Tool for the first time. Every person I’ve witnessed that opened up with this song started getting hot 😄
The song lyrics is full of metaphors.
"Oh he's a SINGER singer." 😁

The Pot is very likely also TOOL'S version of a "diss track."
Hooker with a penis of AENAMA is their diss track.

Tool are low key like The Avengers for metal. Each member world renowned for their talent, put together.
Nothing better than watching someone slowly go down the prog rabbit hole for the first time

The song is seemingly about hypocrisy and those who often cannot see their own. Basically it's OK to have faults, but you should own them and not judge others when they exhibit the same faults. The musicians are an odd bunch, all very talented with many projects on the go simultaneously. Tool may have been the kicking off point for them in the industry, but nowadays it is the boiling pot for all they bring from elsewhere. The band has evolved massively over the nearly 30 years of active recording, and they are worth exploring further.
P. S. I found this video thanks to my admiration for this band, and I'm glad you got a great song to dive in with. Great video, have subscribed to see what else you do!

Hey man, you have one of the best bands here. Keep diggin' :)
Tool is the type of band that changes how you see music. You need to see the lyrics as well. Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Rage Against the Machine, Van Halen, Rush, etc.
Tool and Rage, deepest lyrics.
Good song to start with. They are a band that gets more and more enjoyable the more you listen to them. I was a casual fan for a long time before I got hooked right in and became one of those Tool superfans that used to annoy me.
Tool don't mess around man, they are they real deal
