- Welcome back to the workshop, friends! Today, we are adding rubber feet to the the end grain cutting boards. This will prevent them from sliding on the countertop. Yep, I made a mistake and its caught on camera. Check out the affiliate links below👇for the rubber feet and cutting board oil, I used on this project!

use drill press and stop gauge great videos
Same as Sidney. If you have a drill press, no, issue by using the stop dep the gauge.
first of all, sorry my english if it is not perfect. I make only end grain cutting boards ( nothing else :) ) and i had the same problem. So, i bought a drum sander. This tool make the difference. The product will became flat. Be sure to check the product if it s flat before you put the feet and the finish. And run the cutting board to the drum sander until it is flat. I didnt find another alternative to be PERFECT and i tried hard. So, buy if you can a drum sander and this will fix this problem for sure....Another thing that i want to say - when you did the final pattern of the cutting board, you say that you want straight lines alignment and you become a little bit dissapointed after gluing because it was not perfect aligment. I want to say you, that it is MUCH BETTER for cutting board to not be perfect aligment. The board it is more and more stable like this. Congratulations for everything!
Thanks for the suggestion! Sounds like very sound advice! What drum sander do you use?
@@lastingbuild1373 I have an affordable drum sander because even like this it is not few money for me. www.axminster.co.uk/axminster-trade-at406ds-drum-sander-106003
I dont know if you will find this in America, i am from Romania and this website it is from England. Axminster have quality products in my opinion.
But in America, i am sure that you will find much better drum sander and very similar with this (from my research, this kind of model it is the most affortable and i can say that is very popular also. In America you will find for sure something similar to Jet, Powermax, Grizzly or maybe another). And i think in America it is more cheap than Europe, but this is only a feeling :)
If you have in future more questions about end grain cutting boards, you can write me whenever you want on: faghiurageorge@gmail.com and if i know the answer, i will be happy to share with you.
And if you will be very passionate about cutting boards, one of the best cutting boards worker it is from Russia and have a popuplar youtube channel - MTM Wood. You will learn a lot from that guy. :)
Wish you all the best! :D
Always enjoyed and learning frome your videos and the "mistakes". We learn a lot frome the mistakes that we do and by tackling them even more
Jim you have a drill press behind you and you could have set it up with accurately there, that's what I use with my forester bits saves the wrist should they grab.
i wanted to yell at my screen, USE THE DRILL PRESS BEHIND YOU!
Drill Press!!!
use a drill press for consistency
Ditto Chuck and Sidney. Great video though.
A depth stop on the drill press would work pretty good for recessing the feet. Merry Christmas .
Merry Christmas!
Lol not much of a mistake Jim. I thought you were going to drill the holes on the wrong side or something! Nice branding iron
The tradesman and I were talking about how good your channel is doing! We’re your ears burning?
When I made the one for gifts a few years ago I used a fine hand file and removed a little bit of the high foot until the rock went away.
Good idea
Drilling the recess with a brace and bit would allow you to count revolutions. My 3/4 bit advances 1/16" per full revolution, this allows me to prefigure my depths.
Great idea! Never even crossed my mind!!
A drill press is one way, but my rigid cordless drill has a removable front handle, and a depth stop rod that fits into it. You could also use a router since it has a depth stop and you would be square.
Nice work Jim don’t understand the embarrassing thumbnail. Human !!
Thanks buddy!
