I appreciate that they kept the minecart contraptions the same, separate from the trains. They both defiantly have their own use cases, as the big rail network is very static for efficiency reasons.

The trains are better for long distance logistics, and aesthetics, whereas the carts are better for farms, mining, any time you want external control, or any circumstance where you want to automatically make carts en mass. also cheaper.

I'm pretty sure the reason why the coocoo clock didn't work is that it wasn't powered with rotational force.
Either this or because of the game rule for stopping time progressing
@@yeah_boi321 Ive tested create above and beyond with DoDaylightCycle set to false and I can confirm the issue is that polart forgot to power the clock not that the time doesnt progress
@@rileyexistent8738 Correct. It just wasn't powered. If it had some rotation it would work fine.
Create really just setting the highest standards possible.
The thing i love most about the trains is they can run in unloaded chunks, which is something ive never seen before from a train mod. usually they will require chunk loaders, but this is so much more elegant for long distance travel.
This is a game changer for train infrastructure. No longer will teleporters be the only reasonable option

you can even do it with creepers. Still explodes and uh, how to get it in is another question entirely.
By the way, it's a mod, not a mod pack. I see this distinction missed by a lot of people when regarding large scale mods. Basically, a mod pack is when someone combines a bunch of separate mods into one big overhaul, whereas with a mod, everything is created by a single person or team. Large scale mods like Create tend to be much better than mod packs, because mod packs mix and match many different creators' visions, and tend to have some inconsistencies or mild incompatibilities.
@@peterlewis2178 You're right. Not sure why I said modpack. I guess I was mixing it up with Above and Beyond, or something. 😅
The new glue changes should be game-changing. It seems they aren't using entities anymore which would theoretically mean large moving creations do not lag anywhere near as much as they used to.
Afaik, they are still entities, but now instead of using like 50 of them to glue a contraption, you only use one or two, so much less lag

Looks like they still use entities, but now one entity can hande a rectangle area instad of just two blocks. Not a fan of this change, IMO it doesn't change anythying significantly.

My first idea with writing display information to a book, is to create a log of your factory.
Like, the information gets written from conveyors and funnels and such, and every minecraft day, at midnight, the page turns. So if you have a remote automatic factory, you can quickly glance through the log to see if everything is in order.
Now you just need ore deposits and you can play factorio in Minecraft!
As an avid factorio fan, I love the new create trains. Work exactly like I'd want them to. Just need to play around and see if the scheduling table will get messy when you have 50+ different stations, that would be a bummer, the interface is very minecrafty but not really too practical for longer lists it seems.

Honestly when I first saw this update, my immediate thought was "I'd love to play a modpack with just Create and Immersive Engineering in it." Imagine setting up excavators in distant ore deposits, running powerlines to them, and then having them deposit their ore in train depots to be shipped back to your base for processing. It's bringing back Railcraft, only 10x better!
@@suddenlysarablog and there is only a handfull of things create dont got that immisive does also theres the one mod allowing power generation for create so immserive can be powered in the same powerplants
to be fair you can basically create an ore deposit since Create has ways to build machines that generate things like infinite stone, iron, gold, etc.
I found out about this mod a few days ago, and I love seeing all this. One change I wish they did was to allow the steam engine and whistle to be placed elsewhere and connected with pipes.
It would allow players to make more diverse factory builds like having a separate boiler house with just one huge boiler and the engine or multiple engines placed around the factory building, instead of having to build several boiler and engine units that all need fuel and water.
Thats actually a really good idea!

Create devs really made the best railway builder in my opinion. It's as powerful as factorio's, and much easier to deal with than satisfactory in a 3D environement. Signals and stations being away from the rail is also perfect for thight spaces. Now I want to make my childhood dream of a train world~
A thing I started testing with trains is naming a few stations the same name. It seems that the train will choose any station of specified name, which means you can have multiple trains going to one station to enter it at once. This works good when you place the stations in places that will ensure that all like-named stations can do the same things, I.e. all 3 "kranowo cargo" stations have an item interface 10, 18 and 26 blocks from the station block, and fluid interfaces at 40, 54 and 68 blocks from the station block.
This ensures that no matter which specific station the train chooses the same thing will happen to it.

I think its also because he had the gamerule of doDaylightCycle false, so it can't actually calculate the time
@@cob2032 nah, when I tested it it was also set to false and it worked, the time was just stopped
btw the rose quartz lamps also output a redstone signal when on, so they can be used as a super useful restsone component!

I'm glad that you've come back. Basically, update is very solid with steam technologies, however, would like to see some steam pipes just to ease the creation of some contraptions.

Engineer: For instance, how am I gonna stop some big mean Mother-Hubbard from tearin' me a structurally superfluous new behind? [A level 1 sentry turns around and shoots a sniper who was trying to creep up on the Engineer from behind.]
Engineer: The answer? Use a gun. And if that don't work, use more gun.
[Another level 3 sentry fired a salvo of rockets, blowing up someone offscreen.]

It is definitely nice to see you back again polartt, welcome back. and I would say my favorite feature would be the new trains, but then again we cant ignore how cute toughs whistles are and how nice they sound.
This mod update singlehandedly bought back my love and appreciation for trains

So happy you're back :) I personally love trains the most, their uses for advanced players are crazy I'm sure. Though they're limited for less technical players - like myself - and especially in small worlds they're even less useful with how big the tracks are. Display boards are fun but they are limited by design - can't put two things on a single line dynamically. Excited to see where these updates take the mod though.
FYI, you can also use a blaze burner for your train's driver, it looks quite cute :)

I saw that this wasn't mentioned in the video, however there are also recipe changes for many of the blocks including the casings, mechanical press and mixer and probably more!
how did they change
@@ember_falls the casings now need you to “apply” the material to a log, think stripping a log with an axe. But with an andesite alloy, copper sheet, brass sheet or the new sturdy sheet instead of an axe.
@@Paul-Marmet I kinda hate having to make an assembly line for every simple item but it's not that bad, as long as they don't bring that stupid machine thing from above & beyond into vanilla create

I don't, as A&B is a 1.16 pack and the full steam update is exclusive to .18
They won't update above and beyond, but it is possible they will release a second version or a new modpack

Idea for display boards, one quite obvious is making a train schedual on station with ETA of each train, and idea of lecterns is updated to-book storage information
It is a shame that Furnace Engines were fully removed. I would have just nerfed them a bit to encourage the use of proper Steam Engines, but still kept them around for very small medium-Stress generation.

Great video, especially on the new steam engines. Not sure if you noticed, but you can get 65,536 su out of the smaller 2x2 being 4 tall, plus using 4 steam engines connected together supported by 1 water pump. This would require 4 blaze burners and a mechanical arm to feed charcoal to each blaze. Prime the water pump with a hand crank, then let the system continue to pump water. It takes about 9 hand cranks to prime, at least in my testing of the new engine. Twice the older blast furnace setup' for just a starting configuration. I learned quite a bit from your video. Thanks for taking the time to put this video together.

If anyone was wondering to get the clock to work you must provide it with kinetic energy and have the display board hooked up
as soon as i saw the new boilers, my heart skipped a beat, i may have my MASSIVE love for nuclear power, but steam power will always hold a special place in my heart for just how good it is while being cheap and reliable. plus those piston animations! makes me dram of a world filled with steam. i dont think i heard any but with the sounds from the trains i can only guess that they have special sounds relating to steam and pressure venting. ASMR for an industrialist.
The writing to books seems awesome, I could see myself hooking up a system to make an automatic train log that I could review in the case of any problems. If I was smart enough, that is.
36:05 I think if they turned the saturation down/make it a bit more greyish it would be great for a train station floor

I made a create server with my friends, and the spawn area is essentially a global train station with information about everything, and a bunch of other stuff, like an automated store which also tracks transactions and items with display boards.
Create are such creative people. Not only are their mods probably some of the best mods out there, but they have a youtube channel with videos that are so creative. You just can't look away.
One think you could do with the lectern display compatibility is that you can have the book as a sort of ledger, and since it can be automatically updated, it will always be acurate

Wow such an amazing update, thanks for going through the changes, I love your content. There is MASSIVE potential in this update, and while I am super sad the Furnace Engine is gone, overall some great additions to such an amazing mod.
I was pretty excited and thought this was neat but then I realized you can send trains through nether portals and man... now I'm super excited for my nether express to pick up lava and travel back and forth to various stations in the world.

the animation on the trains is really amazing and smooth. cant wait to see these being used in create above and beyond.
It will take a long time to change the things in the mod pack to work with it because of all the custom recipes
I’m pretty sure above and beyond won’t be updated, since this update is only for 1.18.2 they simply can’t because there’s so many mods in the pack that they’d have to wait to update (if it even does update)
I love the idea of writing to a sign! My mind immediately jumped to having a store setup for a semi-roleplay-focused server and using the write-to function to have a daily specials board.
Gotta say, i absolutly love this Factorio-Like train implementation

one thing you would be able to do with the display link is updating a lectern.
unless I'm mistaken the redstone controller/link (I forgot the name of it) will output different signals depending on the page of a lectern.
this means that you could possibly automate allot of things depending if it turns to the page the item is already written on.
you could automate a crafting setup by having a list of items on particular pages, if all of those pages are on, items are routed to point A.
I know there's a lot of exciting new stuff, but hearing they removed getting rotation from fans I think will throw off a lot of create players and especially create engineers who specializes in compact farms.
I am a little disappointed that they removed the furnace engines at all. I think they could have coexisted.
I can understand that Steam Engines would fit the theme a lot better than the Encased Fan and Furnace Engine would, I'm just not a fan of how they were removed with, as far as I know, no warning whatsoever
Imagine the placards in a station where you have to click on them with your train pass to get to the railway

I mean it was to easy to get infinite power, like you could just make a tree farm/kelp and you would be done basically.
You could possibly do the same with the boilers but it would require more setup especially the water if you would only use create and not other mods.
I do wonder though it we would be able to get a boiler to work somehow in the nether.
The last few versions have convinced me that Create might be my favorite mod now. I did not expect nor particularly want a train system (afterall Railcraft has been around forever) but seeing all of this has definitely changed my mind and I continue to be wholly impressed with this mod.

The command block interaction on display link is for scoreboard objectives using the objectives short (not display) name.
Very good for say a minigame, where you can show teams/players who is in the lead.

@@fietae do you know that from the mod authors themselves? because as far as i see it they might as well try to recreate it for 1.18.2, plenty of the mods are updated. though im sure they won't want to do that since its a lot of work and basically means recreating the pack
@@prod-NC-17 on a reddit post mod authors said they'll fix all the bugs for 0.5 and then take a break. They've also mentioned they have tonns of ideas for the mod that they want to implement. No mention of a new modpack or any updates for c:a&b though.

When I watched that trailer/video from the makers I was very confused because of the rails, but then I realised they changed it and nice! (Because I was first scared it was only visual or something)
I like the Blaze wearing the engineer goggles. It's so adorable
But I do love the trains, overall. Can't wait to do some cool stuff with it
I found that a second way (other than the nixie tubes) to display redstone signal strengths is using a target block, because the board seems to just read the power level of the target block, regardless of if it came from shooting the target block with an arrow or not. This can be useful since target blocks redirect redstone (I'm unsure if nixie tubes do this) and are solid blocks, plus maybe you already happen to have a target block in the right place
Railroads Online has some serious competition now!! But I'm amazed how Mojang turns down extremely talented people who can create and solve problems they can not figure out... like the "bundles" they can't figure it out soo they don't include it in their latest release.. but someone out there figured it out and now its a functioning mod (not part of Mojang).. amazing work on the train tracks :o)
For the coucou clock you need to power it by mechanical force to make it work

If state of the roze quarts lamps is readable, then those can be made into either triggers or 1-of-N keys.
P.S.: Flywheels can be used as mechanical capacitors IRL, so _maybe_ they will do so in Create.

Yeah it takes about 11 seconds for the item tunnel display board to increment by 1, so with 2140 items it's been running for over 6.5 hours!
Man, I fucking adore this mod. I hope the guy making it is getting plenty of generous donations and fueling his passion to keep making updates and additions to the mod. I wonder what other marvelous mods we'll see come out of this dude.
