I recommend setting the station name filter to an asterisk, which will then read all the train stations information on the display board.

Found the power user! Hey, can you help me fix my computer? It keeps telling me to press any key to continue, but I can't find it anywhere on the keyboard. Is this a keyboard issue or a bug in the software?
@@iansullivan9738 most keyboards don't come with an "any" key. Pressing F4 while holding Alt will do the same thing.
A couple of points to note;
If you provide a lot of rotational power to a display board (I believe 128 upwards) it'll update instantly, instead of using the flip animation.
Also, you can use glow squid ink to make the text glow.
Nice, I think the flip animation looks cool though
I've always found your tutorials very appealing, mostly cause of the visuals and the way things are laid out. Just the small details can significantly affect the enjoyment of these sorts of videos, even if it's not the primary focus. Keep up the great work man! I've been watching your videos for a few years now ever since the Create mod had that big spike in popularity a while ago.
What a timing! Fabricators of Create just fixed Display Links today for Fabric!
One thing missed in the display link for train station summary, and for train schedules, is they have wildcard/prefix support.
So with your example setup, one could use "Passenger*" to list all info for Passenger North and Passenger South.
You can also use this as the stop in a schedule, so a train will pick one of the stations that's free and route to it.
This is very handy for a station with multiple platforms, as you can:
- Label each one (e.g. Blockville Platform 1, Blockville Platform 2 etc)
- Display a summary per platform (e.g. at the top of the stairs/ on platform about what's due)
- Also display a summary for the entire station (e.g. in the main Atrium)
- Have trains route to whichever is free currently
- Still route trains to specific platforms if so desired.

Do note that this will also take signals into account which you've set to red manually with Redstone. Meaning you can disable stations even if no train is currently occupying them.The trains will then route to other free stations. Also, if no station is free the train will route to the closest one and wait in front of that stations red signal. Meaning your closest station should always allow the train to move to another one when it is waiting in front of it.

If you power a Target Block with redstone, the Display Link will show the power level, like a Nixie Tube, not just when you hit it with a projectile

Very nice tutorial on the display boards. Could you maybe make another tutorial explaining what the 'Train column size', 'Platform column sIze' and 'Station name filter' do and how to use them?
I think I can help with this a bit - the "Train column size" is how much space do you want the train name to occupy on the board, as a percentage. "Platform column size" is useful in combination with the "Station name filter", and it represents how many characters it'll display of the platform name. How to create platforms? Well, you rename the train stations to be similar to eachother - let's say "Main station 1" as platform number one, "Main station 2" for number two and "Main station cargo" for a cargo platform (it should work with letters, yes). Now what you do, is that you set the Display link's "Station name filter" to "Main station *". Now it'll show all 3 platforms, and show either "1", "2" or "cargo" as the platform. It works on schedules too - set your passenger trains to "Main station *" if you don't care where they end up, and specify "Main station cargo" for the cargo trains.

I've updated Create to 0.5 in my own world, and I'm planning on using these boards to have a central board that always shows the last location I was in. Basically, each location has a pressure plate at the entrance which droppers a named paper into an EnderStorage chest. The central board location has a corresponding Ender chest and when anything is in it, it unlocks two hoppers momentarily, pulling the previous paper out of a barrel and the new paper into it, thereby updating the board. (It'd be nice if there was an option for "set hardcoded text upon redstone signal", or some component that could allow that, but meanwhile this paper method works.)
Sure, it makes more sense on a server, but I think it's fun even in a single player world :)

All of your videos our so well put together and I relly like the effort that goes into the backgrounds. Would you ever consider a public create server? Or maybe not even public. You could do something like the EpicSMP where you only invite content creators. I will be excited for whatever you end up doing. Keep up the good work!

these people literally add more content to their mod in each update than the actual minecraft devs
An addition that could be interesting for reading the nixi tubes would be a counter that whenever there is an update to the numbers shown it would add to what was before.

I love the display boards and links, but I hate a couple of things about them. It would be a lot better if the links had an ui similar to train schedules and they were able to do various functions with one link: one link that displays everything about su with only one su gauge. It would also be great to be able to display to various boards with one link. It would work like the schedule: plus button to add functions, and another one to add boards where to display and which lines to use from them

A quick note on the Station Summary:
From my testing does the display link interpret the text (Station name) as Regex, so be careful when your station name uses specific characters line [, ], ( or ) as they will make the link fail to find the station.

Is there any chance you could maybe go in depth with the message board and the train stations and schedules? I tried to mess around a little in my own world to figure it out and this video did help but I'm still confused on how to get the "custom message" step in the train schedule menu to work

If you can't necessarily get a steady supply of Coal for your Steam Engines, Could you use Charcoal as a Substitute to power your Steam Engine? If so, how much speed will you get from your Steam Engine compared to using Coal?
You can build a tree farm to power it, doesn't even have to be a huge one
coal is pretty much the exact same as charcoal, so there won’t be a difference

This was a great video! One thing I'm still confused about is schedule titles. When I try to have them update in a train schedule, it doesn't work.
i always use displays to keep track of my factories stock
For my sawmill i can see how much wood is in the deposit chest, and then i can see how many Birch, Spurce & Oak Stairs, Planks & Slabs i have
all just by glancing at the screens in the front of my factory
The target block thing is going to make scoring for bow mini games _sooooo_ easy

One change i would like to see is be able to use multiple colors on a sing line of text i want to make a stress progress bar that goes from green to red the more stress i use just think it would be a cool little detail

I’m very new to create, just starting to test and build trains and stations. When connecting with display boards and displaying info, i would like to change default texts like “Departure” to my language, PT-BR, but I don’t want a full translation. Is it possible to edit this aspect in the files?
Also, trains in a specific city here have an announcer saying things like “Next station [station name]. It’s very funny and would like to know if there’s any addons to put custom sounds and can be triggered with in-game items

I have a airport and bus system which use trains as “planes and cars” Is it possible to exclude these or better yet, use key words to display stations on certain lines (eg. use south to display all stops with the word south in it)
when i put a content observer at my vault and then a display link on the content observer it displays that in the voult are 0 items in it but i have items. pls help
I didn't see how you link each display link to each board. Obviously you can have several Display Links sending information to multiple Display Boards, in the same area, at the same time. But how does each know where to get/send it's Display information? Is it like the Mechanical Arm, where you link it prior to placing it?

how were you able to place the display link on the station? if i right-click it, it just brings up the station menu, and if i crouch-click on it, the link's pairing to the display board disappears

Is there a way to display larger numbers? I'm trying to display the amount of items in my Applied Energistics system. I have the number, but as far as I can tell there is no way for me to show numbers larger than the redstone cap.
this is amazing is there a config to change the update intervall of the display links or the time by the tunnels how long shoud max came no item to set the hour counter to 0?
They update every time they receive a redstone input, so you can an observer clock to update it constantly
at 17:40 my display boards do not display that, they say "now PASSENGER TRAIN PASSENGER SOUTH" but they don't do "3 m PASSENGER TRAIN PASSENGER SOUTH", like, I get no remaining time for the train to come, anyone has had that problem or know how to fix it? Thank you!

ok so let's say I have 2 tanks both filled with water, but one is holding 50mb and the other is holding 100mb both fluctuate how much they currently hold. Can I have the display board display the added sum of both tanks?
