What do you think would've happened if the COVID-19 pandemic never existed? Would wrestling be any different than it is now? Would it be better or worse?
Personally i don't think it would be much different from what we have now. In saying that though, if we still got the matches we did between styles and taker was well as cena and the fiend, on top of drew getting his moment infront of the crowd, it would have made the moment more special.
Well no Firefly Fun House,no Boneyard match,no 2 night event and no Tribal Chief/Head of the Table and the same you said in your video and could be have been mixed results for the fans
The one thing I liked the most during the coronavirus was the ThunderDome and the storyline with The Fiend and Alexa Bliss. Let's be honest, if Roman was at Wrestlemania, Braun wouldn't have become the champion and wouldn't be targeted by The Fiend, who wouldn't have gone after Alexa due to her friendship with Braun.
Not to forget about locations for the other WrestleMania’s if 36 took place as is without the pandemic existing. 37 would’ve been in SoFi 38 maybe still would’ve been in AT&T Stadium 39 probably would’ve been in Philadelphia 40 would have a whole different location as is. It’s a lot the pandemic changed with WrestleMania and wrestling overall including to the world.
If the pandemic never happened there's alot of character changes we would most likely never gotten, like cowboy brock, since he would most likely never take that extended break away from WWE after losing to drew, but the biggest one being Roman Reigns becoming the Tribal Chief
I'd like to think if WWE had the possibly started The Tribal Chief character of Roman Reigns after winning the Universal Championship, we would've seen a completely different version of The Bloodline. We may not see the awesome build between him and Jey Uso like what happened in real life, Paul Heyman would not been there (he would've stayed with Brock of course), the vibe would completely be different, and no possibility of Sami Zayn joining in the storyline.
I reckon we would’ve seen the US Title and the IC titles on the line in multi-man matches, maybe featuring the guys from the ‘random’ Mania 36 matches (Aleister Black, Bobby Lashley, Elias & King Corbin)
AEW were workhorses taping 2 months worth of Dynamite matches in one day. But for sure, all wrestlers no matter how good or bad it was deserve the praise for going out there in spite of the circumstances. For many, it would have harked back to early in their careers as they will have done shows with more people working on the show than attending it.
A part of me still wishes that wrestlemania should have been canceled for that year but another big part of me was glad towards most of the positives of the shows. To be honest, i think that the cinematic match concept could have still worked even if it was a crowd.
If Wrestlemania 36 happened in 2020 due to no pandemic, I would have went to my second live Wrestlemania as I bought a ticket for Mania, NXT Takeover, I would have met a lot of wrestlers as I bought meet & greets for WWE Axxess including Drew McIntyre the day after Wrestlemania when I knew he would have the belt with him. I think we would have got Rock vs Roman in 2021 in Los Angeles as Wrestlemania 37 would have went on as I planned the very next year. Now AEW if The Pandemic never existed, that's a lot of what ifs as well.
If I could say what are my top 5 Wrestlemania of all time , this is my list 1. Wrestlemania 17 2. Wrestlemania 36 3. Wrestlemania 35 4. Wrestlemania 31 5. Wrestlemania 26 The main reason why I put Wrestlemania 36 that high , is because first of all, the matches were very good, second ; this wrestlemania gave us everything we hoped that will happen, Drew became WWE champion, Undertaker and AJ Styles put on a match to remember for decades, Smackdown Tag team championship match was awesome etc. And thirdly (and that’s the main reason) , I personally call this specific wrestlemania as the “What If wrestlemania & respect for putting smile on our faces” , in the most hardest time, that we lived, lockdown , COVID-19 , health crisis, panic, and WWE , they said right here why E stands for Entertainment! Watching Wrestlemania 36 , even today, is so weird, but you have a feeling that someone taps on your back , and saying “forget about what’s happening outside for 5 hours combined, and laugh , cry , Get excited, Be mad, do all the emotions, because this is World Wrestling Entertainment!” And of course what would have been the crowds reactions in drew winning the Gold, taker brings back American Badass persona, so… What If? Btw Christian , I can’t join for some reason, can you help me with that please?
@@darkside1million164Roman would still be a nauseating face if the pandemic never happened. Instead, his title reign became stale and boring plus the bloodline imploded.
I still feel bad for Drew McIntyre. By far the biggest moment of his career and it had to happen with no fans and a completely unmotivated Brock Lesnar.
Video suggestion: Addressing all of those comments from people in the IWC that say "Vince is back in creative" whenever something they don't agree with happens Have a good day dude! 👍
It would have also meant that Mania 37 would be in Hollywood at the SoFi stadium, 38 would be at AT&T stadium in Dallas as planned, and Mania 39 this year would have been in Philadelphia, and Mania 40 would be in the UK at Wembley Stadium in London. It would also have meant that when Auska won the Raw Women’s championship because Becky Lynch was pregnant, it would have got a bigger pop and Seth Rollins gouging Rey Mysterio’s eye out would have been met with the same loudness of the booing MJF received when he beat Cody Rhodes before the pandemic was declared.
We don’t know this for sure but Roman vs Rock may had happened since wreslemania 37 was supposed to b in Hollywood but since the pandemic rescheduled the Hollywood mania we might not get Roman vs Rock anymore
Weather concerns were also why Wrestlemania VII in 1991 had to be relocated from the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum to the Sports Arena right next door...well, that and ticket sales.
If they were any longer, they’d be dragging. I like to think that people who click on something would want the topic to be short, sweet and straight to the point. However there could be some topics that require a longer length
Agree with all the points you made... WrestleMania being turned into a two night event is especially a big positive since pre pandemic they were way too long
If this pandemic never came I could've seen not only WM 36, but Takeover Tampa Bay and NXT UK Takeover: Dublin, the latter of which was set to occur at the end of April that year. I wonder though if this pandemic never happened, would we ever get 2 night WrestleManias, Roman Reigns heel turn, would we see so much other specific things in wrestling?
Then Heel Roman never happened but Drew McIntyre will get his crowd the moment he wins that WWE title. Also Gargano vs Ciampa would've had another 5 star classic at Takeover Tampa.
TBH, it would've been more of the same, except in the Triple Threat Tag Team Ladder Match, everybody is present (Miz had been battlin' a cold & durin' this time, it was best he stayed away for this match), & Roman wins the Universal Championship like he was originally supposed to MUCH earlier, but he still turns heel like he did down the line, but I doubt he becomes the Tribal Chief, a more menacing character maybe?
I think this is a good prediction. In honesty, the pandemic was good for WWE, though. It let them try things they wouldn't have otherwise. For instance, we might not have gotten the tribal chief as you said.
I'd rather live in a world where there's no boring ass Tribal Chief & his arrive, acknowledge me, leave schtick every time he shows up on TV. A 5 hour main card WrestleMania is better than 2 nights of WrestleMania where on both nights the kickoff talks about the night 2 matches. If WrestleMania 36 happened in front of fans would we had still gotten Big Show's impromptu title match?
If the Pandemic Never Happened: - Drew McIntyre would have gotten a major push into stardom defeating Tyson Fury at Summerslam - Rhea Ripley would of lost to Charlotte Flair and since Paul Heyman was building a lot of guys and girls on Raw then, she would have been called up and have feuded with Shayna Baszler - Baszler would of defeated Lynch since Lynch was pregnant soon after and that couldn't of changed anyways. WWE wanted as many eyes as possible on the product that's why Lynch remained champion. - Roman Reigns would have defeaten Goldberg in a 5 minute squash and defended the title against The Dirty Dawgs, Braun Strowman and Elias - Rob Gronkoski would have had a feud with Sami Zayn and Shinsuke Nakamura for the Intercontinental Championship - Drew Gulak and Daniel Bryan may of won the Smackdown Tag Team Championships at Money In The Bank - Rhea Ripley would of replaced Shayna Baszler in MITB and won instead of Asuka - Braun Strowman would of won Money In The Bank replacing Otis who still would of feuded with The Dirty Dawgs - Sonya Deville would of fought against Sasha Banks for the SD Women's Championship And finally, Vince McMahon would have still been creative today, the bloodline would have never existed and many NXT stars would have been forgotten in the midst. So in many ways COVID helped WWE.
Yes, the pandemic era WrestleMania was odd - but we got blessings in disguise with 2 night Manias, cinematic matches and Roman’s eventual return as Tribal Chief
I think they wanted Baszler to win in front of a big crowd for the major heat, plus they could have her kayfabe injure Becky so she could go into maternal leave quietly.
For me WM36 was a PPV to start doubting in wwe's product - The show without any audience felt really bad - Splitting PPV like WrestleMania into two nights felt like a cheap knockoff of NJPW Wrestle Kingdom where NJPW deliver almost every WK show when Wm on the other hand....... - Wasn't the fan of two cinematic matches (Taker vs Styles and by god Cena vs Wyatt) - Since Wm36 it almost feel like one night is great wrestling show when the other night is just "there" for the sake of "tWo BiG fOr oNe NiGhT" - and all of a sudden they began to make weird choices: throwing off people from the roof and giving Otis a briefcase just for the sake of him being over with the fans at the time (MITB) [still waiting for good Mr. MITB since 2015 everyone was mid], calling Orton vs Edge match "the greatest wrestling match ever" like they wanted to prove something (like they can handle pandemic-era but they couldn't), gouging out Rey's eye like why ffs and bland Wyatt Swamp Fight without Universal championship on the line (Extreme Rules) And the final nail in the coffin was Roman's return at SummerSlam - it was so weird to see Wyatt as champion for only 7 Days just to make Roman a champion at the next ppv and then I promised myself that I'll stop watching wwe untill Roman lose championship ....and it turned out really bad huh
