Evan Solomon Hahaha I would totally buy that one.
But who is man enough to wear it in public
Hell yea
Yes
It looks like a giant butter knife
Make a bayonet for the AK.
Dont forget to make it gold
Gregory Mallory He should just buy a big triple point sheet metal bolt, then forge it from there.
A bayonet on an AK pistol... no thanks
Probably not legal but idk I live in ny so fml

We also want lawn mower vlogs back!

@@DOITWITHDAN I love it dude
put some fire bricks at the back of the forge so it stops heat from exiting
Hard to get long pieces in that short of a forge if you block off the back.
@@jmyoung513 for the shorter pieces it will work just fine
Rex good tip
I was actually about you suggest this. thank you for doing for me.
Hey DingleDick, put some safety glasses on. I'm serious dude I got a piece of rebar in my eye after cutting it with a quickie saw, and I had my glasses on! Would hate to see what would happen without them. Had to miss a week of work and go through what may have been the most excruciating pain in my life because of it. Loved the video but safety first!
Use the right PPE
@@datboibruno7141 I know I should have had a face shield on...
John Malovich should of used a long sleeve and gloves when grinding the metal. Would hate to have metal shavings in my hands
Deflated eyeball
@@timothyjohnson4885 I did! Kind of an odd story, cut the rebar, tied it, then poured concrete immediately after it was tied, when the driver turned the mixer on the concrete truck, the air shot one of the shavings underneath my glasses! Sucked at the time but after some steroid eye drops it's all good.
The perfect channel for me, guns, motorcycles, and blacksmithing.

Just in time for Alec Steele to move to the US
Random Guy I was about to comment the same thing
Alec is moving to Montana. Probably not much closer than he was from GA. Lol
Random Guy you lost me at time... explain?
@@sleepy-gamer Do you know the UA-camr Alec Steele? He is a popular British master blade-smith with 1.3 million subscribers. He is currently moving to Montana in America. Really cool guy with great videos, you should check him out.
ua-cam.com/users/alectheblacksmith
Forgot to temper it after the hardening. Unless I missed it.
Don't need to soften it after quenching rebar is kinda mild so it doesn't get brittle enough to warrant tempering.
Anthony Vandyke not always true. I had some rebar that made a punch from I quenched it and dropped and it snapped into several pieces. Also had a knife that the same thing happened
Yes, I’ve been waiting for this ever since you mentioned it. I just want you to know be safe around Crome/ galvanized metals. Both are toxic, so I would highly advise you to use a respirator when forging those metals. Other than that I can’t wait to see more of these videos.
Dan if you read this I hope it makes your day a little better cus your video sure made me feel better. I heard you say that your just some guy with a camera but your really not your a friend and someone I look up to not to give you some pity story to make u feel bad for me but my mom has cancer and its getting pretty bad she's having serious surgery sometime this month and I just wanted to let you know that your videos make my day a little better when I see em Ive been watching your channel for a fat min now and hope on getting a r6 when I turn 18 or whenever i save enough money ;) that's it love ya dude be safe peace
Absolutely go for it dude. The motorcycle builds are always my favorite, this is like a mini scratch for that itch, with the added bonus that you actually enjoy it and aren't stressing about it to hard.
Dan gets into blacksmithing, now you just need to start drifting and urban exploring and this channel is pretty much the only reason I'm on UA-cam!
Do you watch Forged in Fire on History Channel? It a pretty cool show.
Gregory Mallory can be cheesy at times but they make cool stuff!
Gregory Mallory I watch it every Wednesday
i got my appendix removed in february and binge watched forged in fire while i was recovering
My brother in-law won on that show
One Percent Visuals what’s his name?
Dan maybe bring it to MinimalEffort and rebrand the channel? I miss uploads there!
No. Minimal effort should be just that. Minimal effort. Since hes not an VED(uc) guy it was enough for people to get a dan fix. How bout redo hooligan playground since he games on twitch
Okay, the little tiny quite "ting ting tings" while you fast forward through the hammering add a whole lot to the video, I dig those subtle little noises a lot, that's awesome.
Great, now I can spend even more time than I already do watching other people blacksmith on youtube. Thanks a lot Dan.
Called the Chief, he said this is it
You’re Chanel is great I found you on Colin furzes UA-cam comments and started watching keep up the quality content
Great work Dan! The one thing I would recommend is that you fasten down your anvil with a few nails hammered into the wood and then bent around the corners of your anvil. Keep it up!
I love this...keep doing it I’d rather watch you learn and learn from you than watch someone that’s been doing it for years just breeze through it
Gloves off when grinding
^Absolutely, surprised I missed that. Anything thicker than latex is a no go for sure, serious safety hazard, even on a small grinder like that.
@@randomguy3281 why?
@@masteronesolo4615 It's a snag hazard. It's possible for lose fabric, long hair, or anything that is secured to your body, to get caught up in machinery. In this case, his gloves could get snagged by the belt or pinched under it, and could possibly crush or break a finger, on larger machinery it could break and sever limbs. My grandfather actually lost a few fingers to a chipper, glove got caught on a branch and pulled his hand in.
It's okay to wear thin latex / nitrite gloves, because they can rip away with out pulling your hand in
Also, holding the blade with bare skin or thin gloves is better for feeling the heat of the metal. After heat treatment, it is possible to ruin a blade by over heating it on the grinder.

Ya know, this is the only UA-camr nowadays, that I find interesting to watch. Always something different with each upload. Love what youre doing keep it up
Dan I am proud for you. Your trying something new and out of your comfort zone. Not many people do that and regret it! In trying my hand and new things and I'm happy with myself even though I'm not perfect at em yet! Love the variety or content
I see your "I watched this while on the toilet." And I raise you with "I watched this in the shower."
How sore is your arm from hammering??
considering it's no nut november I'd say no more than it would be any other month. I'd ask again in december tho
Been watching your content for years now, i got my bike licence and started colecting bikes because of you haha, make whatever content you want man your day ones will always follow
Did anyone else think it was super satisfying to watch the forging process
Need to be wearing glasses for the sanding part, you don't want particles of metal in your eye.
should wear glasses the whole time honestly
@@zackweeder115 yea true.

Dan...God damn!! Bikes, cars, guns, and knives are your forte. You are the MOST American person I watch on UA-cam and holy fuck it makes me so happy to watch your badass videos
Anyone else think he should call the store "Dick Head Knives"?

I hope you get to see this but I’ve been here before you were close to 100,000 subs and it’s crazy to see you here now. You’re an inspiration to many and I hope to meet someday! Stay safe and I hope to watch for years to come
There's something so soothing about watching you beat down that metal fast forwarded
Do more of these!
I’ve been wanting to get into forging knifes and this would be a fun way to follow along and learn right along side you!
This is by far the calmest do it for Dan video I've seen to date. Love the content man!
Hell yea man. I’ve been watching your shit for a little mf time. Ever since I got my first motorcycle when I was 15. I’m 25 now and have been forging for about 3 years. I’m glad your getting into it. Can’t wait to see more of the stuff you make.
I saw Alec starting people out making leaves. Really helps with hammer control and metal manipulation. I hope you have fun
this is awesome! we all want to see more of your personal hobbies Dan. Any content from you is a blast to watch, thank you.
Go Dan Go! We need a cooking with Dan episode using a forged by Dan knife. We'll drink everytime you make a motorcycle reference or mention a "wrap"! Car or food related!
I love the idea of you moving forward with forging. I something I do a lot. I personally find Zna Prdouctions entertaining to watch. He knows what he's talking about. But I loved this video. Hope you keep it up. Love you man.
Dan I’ve been dabbling in blacksmithing recently too! I’m really happy you’re experiencing the same stressful yet very rewarding hobby I’ve come to love ❤️
Hey dan! Big fan! My dad and I both blacksmith some and I recommend trying to keep the blade red hot while hitting it. If you let it cool too much and then strike it, sometimes it will make the metal more brittle. Also put some chains around your anvil to keep the pinging down. Good luck with your adventures!
Love it man. Cant wait to see your journey through blacksmithing
From one Dan to another, I LOVE THIS KINDA STUFF!!!!!!
Proud of you bro. Been watching for some years now, so it's like seeing my big brother prove our parents wrong or something lol.
I love this. I would totally watch more of this type of stuff all the time
Dude this is awesome, I love seeing people get into blacksmithing, it is such a cool medium of art.
I think this is awesome. I’ve been wanting to get into blacksmithing for a little while now and it’s cool to see you starting from the beginning also.
Hell yeah dan. That is really cool! More vids like this would be great. Your span of content is so broad and I love it!
I have to say, that it looks like the worlds biggest butter knife. But for a first project that's quite impressive! Looking forward to seeing more.
Good job on your first knife! If I may, just an idea, weld a stand together for your forge and elevate it. That way you’re not bent over all the time. Also, if you put a stack of fire brick at one end, it will keep your forge temperature at a more constant rate. This will allow your heat cycle times to shorten. Conserving fuel is best.
I’m really happy that you’re starting this I’ve always been curious and find it very interesting
should start calling you universal Dan , since your learning everything under the rainbow XD , ive always wanted to learn how to forge myself even drawn myself a design of a knife myself. sadly havent had time with the project car. very nice work thus far!
Always wanted to get into blacksmithing and forging. Acid etching would make an awesome flair to knives
I really enjoyed this video!!! Just keep in mind when you harden a blade you make it really hard but it becomes brital. To make it not shatter put it in the oven at 400 degrees in about two hours and make sure you see the straw colour in the metall.
Keep up the great vids!!!
More of this, please! Coincidentally I've started getting into blacksmithing myself, so the more vids the better!
Keep the forging coming man, its awesome!
Heck yeah man. Hope you go far with this. Enjoyed the meet up yesterday too. Always good meeting you and the other guys.
So relaxing to watch. Keep it up man.
I would personally say just keep going with this channel and keep up with the vast variety of videos you produce. I come to youre channel to see everything. Keep it up dude
SUPER cool that you’re getting into this man. I absolutely love knives and especially custom made ones and hope to one day make or have someone make me my own!
that's pretty good for your first. I used to do this back in high school, I started out with a railroad tie. I had a blast making all sorts of crazy shit. Look into aluminum casting I used to cast all sorts of stuff. Hope to see you do more of this in the future.
Really dig this type of stuff Dan! Super cool!
Been waiting for your first video on smithing and i'm not disappointed in the slightest. Great job Dan! Honestly, its a pretty darn good knife for your first rounds, better than my first knife for sure, and I learned from a Blacksmith. Also, since you mentioned the wrench, there is enough material in the end without lobbing it entirely off to make a small hatchet or tomahawk as well. Food for thought! Can't wait to see more videos and I look forward to a new channel if you go that route, definitely a +1 sub from me. Keep it up Dan!
Forge It With Dan... It's always cool seeing you introduce new things to the channel, keeps it fun and it doesn't get monotone. I have so far liked all the new things you got on the channel, except guns tho ( I know I will get hate for saying that, but I just dont fancy guns. But hey, you do you. We all have our own thing ) Keep the content flowin' my dude, have a great one.
Jesus that things sharp. Keep it on one channel dude! Love all the content you're pumping out recently. Don't want your maker channel going to way of Minimal Effort.
I think it's awesome that you're trying something new for the first time, especially when it involves making something -nothing cooler than making something from nothing and having a quality piece to show for it! Keep it up!
I'd watch more of this, its cool to learn about and see your creativity too
Been a fan for a few years now. Really cool to see you expand your content pretty sure we all love it i do. Keep it up dude
That's really cool, I definitely enjoy watching forging so i would watch for sure
I enjoy watching metal forging and glass blowing videos so this is cool
Sounds awesome Dan!
The time lapse was absolutely insane and super satisfying to watch. Glad you’re finally doing this Dan, I’ve been wanting to do this for a while too but I’m a ways away from this. I swear you’re like my twin lol. Keep up the good work!
Also when you shave your hairs, go to the other way in the same direct as the hairs lol
I’m so hyped for knife shit. If you make a second channel for it, call it “Cut it With Dan” or something to that effect.
That's dope. Cable damascus always looks pretty when etched.
Cool stuff, wouldn’t mind seeing more of it!
I gotta say Dan, that was pretty satisfying to watch.
Love it man! Keep learning and living!
Yesss. Keep doing this. It’s is very fun to watch
I love it keep it up i would like to get into this hobby eventually and watching you learn would be great!!!
Good work Dan always coming up with new content ideas and actually going thru with them I've been a sub for a long time and the content keeps me around there is a great variety of things that you have been doing since I started watching. Thank you for the great content I look forward to what's next
This was really enjoyable to watch. Keep up the good work!
