- Why do Corvette owners love their cars, even though so many hate Corvettes?
Here are the top 5 surprising reasons I've found after owning mine, and chatting with hundreds of other owners with Corvette addictions!
This video covers ALL owner age groups and Chevrolet Corvette generations (from the 1953 original to the new C8).

CORRECTION: Corvette Racing team started in 1999, not 2000 as stated in the video.
And bonus fact: Dale Earnhardt Sr AND Jr both raced for them in 2001!
That Daytona 24 race was an awesome race for Corvette Racing. They won it outright and Dale Senior was talking about racing at Le Mans since he loved the experience so much. But sadly he died soon after (Feb 21 I think).
@@Stinger430 It's a hell of shame, he was (and still is) my hero.
And I think he had a real shot of winning another Cup championship in 2001, with DEI running strong and his health issues sorted.
Dude just LOVED to race, it would've been epic to see him running Le Mans.
Where did you get your mini Corvette toy model from?? (The one on top of your book shelf) it's exactly what I'm looking for
@@wrongperson7363 It's a 1:18th scale Maisto ZR1 model that I've had since I was a kid! I'm sure you can find them on Ebay or wherever.
True story Dale and Jr (and team) finished 4th in a C5.R in the 24 hours of Daytona and the #2 C5.R won the overall. I have really been debating getting the #3 Corvette Racing livery done up since I bought a yellow C5, but I also want to say somehow me buying the C5 early, 2 months before officially turning 35, made my 21 year old brother buy one less than a week later lol. It's contagious when you buy one.
Also bonus fun fact there was 3 prototypes in the late 70's of putting a factory twin turbo in one, and they actually downed it to a V6 that still made more power than the L84 350. If I remember correctly that development ended as they said they had to stick to v8, and I believe that prototype engine influenced the Buick Grand National.
I love my 87, it’s such a fun car and it’s one of the only classic, beautiful, fast, and daily drivable cars that aren’t insanely expensive.
Well said!
I love everything about my corvette. I can’t Believe all the friends I’ve made all over the world because of a car
It's like a club, and all you gotta do is buy a fun car!
This comment needs more clout. Ive had mine for almost a year and every time im out in it if I see another vette its always a wave or head nod. Its awesome community
I love my 89 C4 drive it every day for the most part of the summer, i still dont understand why the wipers are on the door handle but i love everything about it, ok the cup holders suck but ha ha ha the C4 guys will get that ha ha ha
Thats great! Yeah those early cars have the weirdest wiper placements (they moved them to a normal spot in later cars like mine).
Cup holders still suck tho LOL, I mention that in my "Top 5 Secret C4 Quirks" video.
I just bought a 1988 C4 and I actually don't totally hate the cupholders but they were made for a glass coke bottle, they're too small!
When I was young they said if you own one pickup truck, you will never be without one. True for me. I think after owning a vette,it's the same.
Well said! I love ALL cars, but I'm not certain I'll ever be able to NOT own a Corvette.
It's just the ultimate car, in so many ways!
I've been a fan of Corvettes, since my mom got me my first Hot Wheels Stingray. I piddled away most of my earnings in my youth, and only got serious about buying one recently(I'm soon to be 41); I was finally able to pull the trigger on a 92 quasar blue, with 117k miles, and some minor interior issues.
I cant even express how happy I was when I left the dealer. there's just something about these cars. Cant wait to get the next one!
Congrats on achieving a lifelong dream! I know the feeling (loved Vettes as a kid) and its a good one.
Absolutely love my Corvette C7 Grand Sport with its Manual Transmission.
I've never driven a seven-speed manual before.
Yours is a future collector car for sure, as its one of the very last Corvettes with a true manual.
What the heck is a manual transmission?
@@Hector55Munoz an automotive transmission consisting of a system of interlocking gear wheels and a lever that enables the driver to shift gears manually.
@@RetroCarsForever How barbaric, sounds like too much work.
@@Hector55Munoz LOL, right? What nutters would PREFER such an archaic device?
I bought 1987 Corvette this year..I have a good time in it. Legend lives On! !
Congrats!
Had my 87 for 10 years still love it
@@ronhatch6853 Great to hear!
I too have an 1996 Lt-4 Collector Edition. Love it and can't imagine trading it off. Despite squeeks, rattling, and poor plastic interior pieces, I enjoy the seating position and it's surprisingly comfortable on long drives. Despite being a push-rod 350 with only "330" HP the noise it makes and the acceleration is fantastic! My Vette is completely original and unmodified. I just replace wear and tear items and do maintenance. It really is just gas her up and drive. I pay only a ¼ of the insurance compared to my Grand Caravan. Late C4 Corvettes are the best $ / performance at the moment. I believe very soon used prices are going to inflate and hopefully the C5 will become the new bargain.
Agreed with everything you say! Thanks for watching.
i absolutely love my 81 Corvette! it's an awesome daily driver, and I think everyone should drive one at. least once in their life, they are special for a reason!
Wow, I NEVER hear about people daily driving C3s anymore!
@@RetroCarsForever yeah, it's fun, drives sorta like a modern car, it's smooth, and I love it!
96 LT1 C4 (just hit 80k) 🥰🥰🥰 it's fun to drive,It handles like no other(glued to the road).it always gets head turns. People let you onto traffic with a corvette.
This was so good I had to watch it again!
Haha thanks! Quite a compliment if someone watches a UA-cam video TWICE!
I have very early memories of my Dad's corvette. It was weird that it was a 2-seater from the 70's, but I remember hiding in a little cubby hole between the seats.
~Trav
Thats pretty cool! Your dad had the generation of Corvette that came out right before mine.
2 words - Stylin and flyin !
Basically my number 3 and 4 on my list!
Yeah I'm 69. Back in the day I had a GTO. I tell young people that and usually I get a blank stare. Three years ago I bought a Corvette. Even children know what it is and love it! 1988 C4 convertible, by the way. LOVE IT!!!
Thanks! Kinda sad that people dont know what a GTO is anymore, but hey, at least they all know Vettes.
Great story, love it 🇺🇸👍
Style, handling and performance!!!! Most fun I’ve ever had driving in my life. My C4 is a blast. Torch red! I do get compliments often.
Glad to hear!
This is a great video. Keep up the good work. You are going to be big...
Thank you, appreciated!
Great content dude! You pretty much listed all the reasons why I’m Corvette Crazy haha
Thanks, glad I made a list that others agree with!
Totally can relate to this, having had many friends in the Vette community! There is definitely a sense of 'family' that comes with buying one!
Cant wait to go to any Corvette shows once this pandemic is over!
Very High Quality Videos.... Great job....👍
Thanks so much!
You covered it. I love the way I feel when I get looks and comments from total strangers.
Thanks! Same here.
ESPECIALLY love using the pop up headlights around kids who have never seen such a thing...Blows their minds!
Nailed it! Another thing I can think about is their high potential, the sbc/ls platforms are known to make big power easily, the car already looks like a rocket and you can quite easily make it go as fast!
This video was on point!!!🏁
Thank you!
Oh wow, I just noticed that the VHS owner's manual you have is in Grand Sport colors! That's so much more fancy than the ones for the earlier years, wow. Nice!
Great eye! Yes, that's the 1996 VHS owners tape that came with my car. That and the brochure cover had Grand Sport colors.
Hey Brad, met you today while you were washing your beautiful Vette, nice UA-cam channel , good job
see you up on the crest !! Craig
Aw yeah thanks Craig! Great meeting you today as well. Hope your C8 arrives just as you hoped and sooner rather than later!
As previously mentioned in other videos...unbelievably underestimated performance, especially in the 90's. Granted, I grew up with a C3 in my parents garage so the nostalgia will always be there, but the C4 was the car in the poster on my wall growing up. Another great video by the way. ;)
Thanks Jason!
Same here, the C4 was THE iconic sports car of my childhood.
Only the Countach (a car worth many times more) was as iconic to kids in the 80s/90s!
Great video!!! Somes up my reasons for loving my 3 Corvettes. C3, C4 C5!!
Thanks for watching. Sounds like you have an epic fleet of Corvettes!
Loved the video and love my 93 C4. Vette❤️Life
Thanks!
I also have a 93 ruby red convertible with low mileage and love it
This channel deserves more subscribers, nice video.
Thanks, appreciate it!
Yeah. Great reasons. Mine is just, at the age of 12 I saw a brand new one in 1986, and it was like a religious awakening. I'm not a "car guy" as such, but my 1988 white targa Corvette is my true love and passion. I don't care about the horsepower or the flaws, it's just the only car I have ever desired. Fulfillment. 💙
That's awesome to hear! I had a similar experience in the early 90s, there was a "Corvette Day" at a local Chevy dealership that was like a Corvette show...New and old Corvettes and even a few concepts from the past! Got to sit in a C4 and it was like a lightning bolt hit my young self. Knew I had to own one some day.
It's a great feeling! Glad you found yours.
@@RetroCarsForever my experience was at a agricultural fair. Amongst the the huge tractors and prize winning bulls there was a car dealer displaying his TVR and the Corvette. Exotic cars weren't exactly common in Finland those days and it was just so unexpected to me. Like a lightning strike, really.
Feels a little stupid to have such a strong emotional reaction to a car. 🤔😳😂 But, hey, I was 12 and couldn't shake it off... 🤷♂️😉
@@kalleinc Thats about how old I was, so I get it!
awesome video, im a corvette specialist since 1992
Thank you!
Great video.
I can relate to everything you said.👍
Thank ya!
We love your content! Just picked up a nice 96 LT4 with 37k I am in love!
Thanks so much! Pretty similar to my car it sounds, and I've really enjoyed mine. Have fun!
I pretty much love them from the racing. Then owning my own i learned much more and love them even more.
Yeah, I didn't know too much about Corvette history until I got mine, and then bought a few books and "uncovered" the vast wealth of cool history with the brand. That was a surprising reason why I loved owning one, and found others did too (that's why I put it number 1!)
I totally agree with you 👍. New subber. 1999 c5 Corvette owner. Absolutely love it.
Thanks! Glad you like your C5 (I'm love to get a C5 or C6 next).
Another great video... kept it up
Many thanks!
I own a C4 corvette and one of the reasons why I love my car is the driving experience plus the ones you mentioned in the video. By the way, nice channel, congratulations !
Thanks, and glad you enjoy the driving experience as much I do!
Nice job, I think you get it! As I heard one time "if you park your car and begin to walk away and you don't stop turn around and look at your car, you've got the wrong car". With a Corvette, you know you've got the right one. I've got 3 of 'em and I'm always looking for another and I love looking at them all! And Corvette even has programs that let you actually build the engine for you car and also one that lets you walk alongside your car when it's being assembled, what other car lets you do that. Probably the best Corvette experience I've ever had. Here's my engine build: ua-cam.com/video/JB3dlu6RRY4/v-deo.html
Thank you, agreed!
And wow didnt know they offered that production line experience as an option. If I was buying a new one I would DEFINITELY spring for that, very cool.
@@RetroCarsForever Here's a cool finish to that the PBC engine build experience which is $5K option RPO PBC and the Buyers Tour is $2.5K. Here's how it turned out, I ordered Carbon Ceramic Brakes on my Z06, but the factory ran out of steel rotors so they offered a $5K rebate on anyone buing the CCB option. so my engine build was covered. Then they offered a owner loyalty rebate of $2K if you already owned a Corvette which I did a 1964 Coupe. Then I had a GM Credit Card which rewarded me $568, so basically my 4 days in the GM factory building my engine and walking alongside my car was fee!
@@mjdart54 Wow, great deal!
well done! Thanks for a cool video
Thank you, and thanks for watchin!
I am dying watching your videos, because I cannot wait to be able to drive a c4 corvette. I just love every aspect of this car and I am so excited to join the community. Although it is a bit early for me considering it will be my first car at 16. So I have a LOT to learn.
Thank ya, glad you enjoy the videos!
The C4 community is one of the best I've ever seen.
If you haven't already, check out this video I just released, all about owning a C4 as your first car!

@@RetroCarsForever I watched it last week and I almost switched to getting a mustang. 😅😂
I was born on the same day as the first 53 was exiting the Flint plant!! and not knowing this untill after I bought my first in 1976 ( a 45K miles 70 LT-1) and have been a repeat customer ever since!!!! Great video bud!!!
Wow, that's cool! Thanks for stopping by and the kind words.
I own a 2016 stingray and love it. I agree with your 5 top reasons!
Awesome, great to hear!
Every Corvette owner needs to read the book 'All Corvettes are red'
Awesome insight on how GM handled the design of the C5.
Been meaning to read that one. Although "Corvette From The Inside" does touch on the beginnings of the C5. From what I gather the C5 was a masterstroke in engineering that was a long time coming and therefore a huge step forward from its predecessor (kinda like the C3 and the C4!)
@@RetroCarsForever It's an amazing look inside GM's design studio and shows how bad GM was losing money in the late 80's to the early 90's.. To me, the C5 is a miracle on 4 wheels after reading that book.
@@Gunsforfreedom Gotta check it out then, thanks!
Solid list.
Thank you!
I love Corvettes because they look beautiful.
Those books you got beside you I have. The corvette milestone I've had since I was 13 or so. 32 now haha.
Nice! I actually got that one just weeks after getting my Vette! Really helped me appreciate the history that I go into in this video.
i love everything about my c4. great video!
Thanks!
I wish I could say I love EVERYTHING about my C4 (squeaky cheap plastics, brittle ride, wobbly structure), but I still adore it and the pros FAR outweight the cons.
@@RetroCarsForever but hey, it's the last of the fourth generation, and a Collectors Edition. Great video right here! Personally what I love about my '96 too is it was the best of a thirteen model year run. And the fact that I've owned my first Vette as a teenager.
Gene Ebeling thanks! I do love how I have an “end of the line” car. Would love a 1982 C3 Collector Edition as well someday.
@@RetroCarsForever _When the '82 Collectors Edition was released, it was the most expensive C3 to date. Finding one that's been in bubble wrap for its entire life would be a dream come true for sure._
@@rubyred93chev I dont need bubble wrap but I do like stock, driver condition. And they're out there!
The tri-colored silver/bronze interior is incredible and I gotta have one someday.
I just got my 88 c4 targa in medium metallic blue with the zr1 wheels a month ago. 1 previous owner and garage kept with only 65,000 miles! By far my favorite car and the fastest car ive owned at 26!
Congrats! Sounds like a blast.
my 85 c4 is one of the best price/value car i ever had. i was worried i won’t fit in (i am 6”3) but surprisingly it is also the most comfortable of any cars i ever owned.
Nice! Agreed C4s are pretty comfortable once you get in them.
most practical car for a player like me!
Can't forget about the Corvette wave! I love my C6 'vette!
Yes, good one! I've been happy to find how many Corvette owners participate in that.
I bought my first Corvette ('13 Grand Sport) a month ago. I'm in that primary demographic, too...and should have bought one a LONG time ago!! Loving every minute of driving it. And you're right...a Vette is cool no matter what speed you're driving it!
Congrats! Awesome to hear.
Same here. Only as a base. Maybe a grand sport 2013 in the future. C6 though!
#6 - the Corvette community. Corvette owners love hanging out together and driving together. Corvette clubs are fun!
Good one! I haven’t had a chance to go to any Corvette shows since getting the car a few years ago. But there’s definitely a strong online community at least.
love the c5 corvette toy you got
If its the white thing that's actually a C4 ZR-1 model I've had since I was kid (made my Maisto). But thanks!
Corvette got me into cars in general and grew up when the C4s were being sold new... first Corvette I ever drove was a Red/Black ‘96 LT4.
Dream was to “start” with a C4 and work mg way through the generations.
Last month I bought a 1994 ZR1 and I dont think im working mg way anywhere now! Its here to stay!!!
Same here, growing up the C4 was THE Corvette of our generation. All the toys/posters/ads were C4s, it's an iconic design.
Congrats on the ZR1, and a later 405hp one to boot! The ultimate C4.
I have a 1978 Vette Silver Anniv model I have owned for over 20 years. I look forward to each and every time I take it out for a drive.
Those are beautiful. Glad to hear it (that’s how I am with mine)
those are awesome! I want one some day, and I love my 81 C3
Great video. Did I see Dale in the C6R?
Thanks, and GREAT EYE!
I had completely forgotten about that little bit of history until I delved into research for this video.
It's actually a C5R, but both Sr AND Jr both drove for the Corvette racing team for the Rolex 24, just weeks before his death.
They finished 4th overall and second in class!

Awesome video! Just one correction: Corvette Racing started in 1999. Keep them videos coming!!!
Thanks...And dang, you are correct! I'll put a pinned comment with that correction. Thanks for pointing that out, I strive for accuracy but somehow missed that one.
@@RetroCarsForever Hey, no problem at all Car Guy. With a history THAT long it's tough to keep everything straight. You're doing a fantastic job! Love your videos!!!

Loved my Vette, it was identical to yours. My only complaint was the people who work on them, were incompetent. The C4 was/is to advanced for the average American car mechanic. It’s also easy to tweak a Vette lifting it wrong. If I ever bought another, I would do all the work myself. This stated, our CE LT4 was otherwise our all time favorite car. You hit the nail on the head with this video.
Thanks! Yes I’ve found I have to be really careful with what mechanic I leave my car with. And I do as much work myself that I possibly can for that reason too.
I'm 63 now and on my 6th Corvette. :)
Nice! Wouldn't mind reaching that goal myself.
love them too man i have 2 and i am getting the C8 ZO6 when it comes out.
Nice! Cant imagine how ridiculous the C8 Z06 is gonna be. Nearly twice the power of my C4!

On my tenth Corvette. A C7 Stingray bought new off the showroom floor. Traded in a C6 60th Anniversary Vette. Everyone of my Corvettes have been fabulous, from my 69 red Stingray T-top years ago, to the one I own today!!! People always ask me, which Corvette did you like the best, and my answer is always the same, the one I own now! The Corvette is truly an American icon, recognizable from any angle, a neck turner, and a wonderful performance car, especially as the years went by. The current mid-engine C8 Corvette is one for the record books!!! For the price of the Ferrari, you can have three C8 Corvettes, and beat the Ferrari on the track! God Bless America!!!
Well said. And wow, 10 Corvettes, and some of the very best they ever made, that's AWESOME!
I dont know if I could ever go without a Corvette in the stable now. I might've gotten the bug as well...
I absolutely love my C4 corvette, best first car ever!
Hell of a first car! Fast and pretty unusual compared to most other vehicles.
my 81 C3 is my first car and I love it as well!!!
Well my dad takes his vette on trips for a couple of reasons. 1 big trunk for a sports car
2 it’s fun on twisting roads
3 hilariously great fuel economy
4 it’s comfortable
5 31.4 mpg at 88mph
Great reasons!
I have a C5 with an LS3 (525 hp) fully caged for the racetrack (road courses) however it (somehow) is still street legal. I love brining it to local car cruises for others to enjoy. The kids love the removable steering wheel and the full cage.
That's awesome! Making young Corvette fans I'm sure.
I’m 20 and have an 87’ it’s been a dream my whole life, I want the new ones too, gotta catch em all
Congrats on getting a Corvette at such a young age! I had to wait quite a bit longer to fulfill mine.
@@RetroCarsForever thank you, appreciate it, Ik how lucky I am, got rid of my first car, and got the vette for a good deal actually lol
Great video. Corvettes are loved because..they have the best name of any sports car..Corvette Stingray...in all the generations of sports cars throughout its entirety..no other sports car is as good looking as the Corvette..hands down. From the gorgeous C1, the superb C2, Curvy C3, futuristic C4, Classic C5, and C6 to the unbelievable C7 and now C8 supercar. The C4 sledgehammer Corvette was the worlds fastest at 254mph in 1988..The Corvette has trounced the porsche 911 ( base car) over the generations..and leaves it for dead for looks. The Chevy small block V8 engine has to be the worlds best sports car engine, it's so torque, tuneable and robust. By the way your 1996 is gorgeous. Also the worlds best looking sports car..the 1963 coupe, 1967 coupe or 1969 coupe..take your pick..all beautiful.
Thanks, and couldn't agree more. "Corvette" is a FANTASTIC name for a car. Obviously "Stingray" is great too, but even the letter/number designations sound cool (ZR1, Z06, etc).
And I dont think they've made an ugly Corvette yet, pretty amazing after nearly 70 years!
@@RetroCarsForever Hey thanks I totally agree. Your vlog was very entertaining and so upbeat and professional. When I was about 14 or 15 years old I saw a yellow C3 Corvette in a magazine and have been in love with them ever since. Being British we don't see too many. I absolutely adore your C4..what I'd do to be able to own one like that..wow!!! It still looks superb today. Well one day..but I'm no spring chicken now ..haaaa.regards from England.

Bought my first corvette a month ago.. 1994 in mint condition, I got to roll it over the 100k mile mark. I’m 19.
My windows are tinted, it’s always fun to get the “wave” from other vette owners (that are usually older guys) and then roll down my windows to reveal some kid, watch their face change with confusion, and then wave back before driving off.
Lol. Even I get looks from bystanders, they’re just not used to someone younger driving a Vette.
And thanks for keeping the wave alive!
My dad has a corvette and i grew up with it and since then i love them and really want to drive ours. The corvette is from 1995 and has the black rose metalic paint i know nothing more about it sadly but what i know its the best expirience to just sit in one
Cool! Well I have several other videos on this channel that can tell ya more about these weird but wonderful machines. Hope you get to drive it someday soon!
I currently own a C2 which I’ve owned since I was 18. A C3 as a daily driver and a C7 Z06!!! All of them are manuals. I’m kinda disappointed the C8 won’t have a manual but I’m still saving up for a C8 Z06.
Havent driven a C8 but with 0-60 in under 3 seconds a true manual with a clutch would only slow it down. But yeah, as far as pure driving involvement goes, give me a stick any day.
@@RetroCarsForever right it will most definitely be faster and I’ve never driven a duel clutch transmission so I’m good with not having a manual. I just wish they would hurry up and get the Z06 out cause I gotta wait to buy used one.
My fav Vette is the C4 ZR1 and my pick would be a 1994-1995 model year :)
Me too! If you haven’t already make sure to catch my Special Editions video-

I fell in love with corvette at the age of 14, when most kids had the alpine Lamborghini posters on their walls I had corvette posters. Life kept getting in they way of me buying one until last year when I finally bought my c7 at the age of 53. It was totally worth the wait!
Congrats!
Bucket list car for me as well, as a kid I adored both Lambos AND Corvettes.
Still cant afford a Lambo but thrilled with my Vette!
I know what you mean. My father and Uncle had vettes when I was growing up. I have have mostly C3s but I just bought a 1966 Convertible. My son also bought a 1974 Coupe. It is definitely a family thing.
Nice content
Thank you! More coming soon.
When I was 10 years old, I dreamt that I had a Corvette. Buying one 35 years later was truly a dream come true for me.
Right there with you. There was an amazing Corvette print ad in like 1994 that said something to the effect of "When you were a child, you made yourself a promise."
My inner child is always excited to see a Corvette in my garage!
For me it was an 87 -55 years later-I caught the "Vette Virus" building a model of the new'59-when I was around 10.
I love corvette I remember the first time I saw one in Mexico was a c4 orange color very rare and has alarm system when you got close to the car the alarm started talk and say please stay away from the car lol that’s was around 97-98 when that happened
I love those old school "talking" alarms!

I would be lying if I said I didn't love watching people admire it driving past them. "Vanity, baby. My favorite sin." :)
Awesome! I love Ferrari's too but I always felt Corvettes were friendly, more accessible, and easier to fix/repair...After all at the end of the day, they're still a Chevrolet!
Purchased a 2019 Stingray, Black/Black Interior/Black Wheels for my retirement car and Birthday 70th. But before you question this, I still have a 1972 that I purchased in 1973 when I was 25 yrs old still own to this day. Also purchased a 1979 when I was 31 yrs old but sold it after I acquired the 2019. I grew up with corvettes, I my be older but still enjoy them to this day.
That's awesome to hear! Sounds like you've had at least one Corvette for most of your life.
My dream Vette... Is... C6 ZR13zr... Unique machine... To me was n still the last real vette from heart...
I would love one of those two. Beautifully bonkers Corvette, and I think the "see through" hood is terrific.
You have a beautiful car. Hands down.
Thanks so much! I agree.
Still love my '94 6sp Polo Green Coupe. Love it except for the inherent torsional twist due to the targa set-up. C4's were originally intended to be T tops to maintain structural rigidity.
Exactly right! Definitely feel the shakiness of the structure with the targa off. I've just kinda gotten used to it...Doesn't seem THAT bad until you drive a modern car!
😎👍 nice editing and production value.
you do it yourself or have an editing wizard? 🎥📺
(also, good list. solid Corvette info)
also thanks for putting context to the mid/late 70’s Corvette models performance. (or lack thereof).
signed, former late C3 owner
Thanks! I do it all (editor by trade)
Practical Car Guy nice. good stuff! ✨📺✨
I know a few editors. Awful, awful people. but you seem okay!
😉 😎
@@chazwazzum Thanks, I think? LOL
i love my 90s with manual transmission, in germany a c4 is very seldom seen and that is a good thing😎
Love mine too! I bet a C4 really turns heads in Germany.
1. Loud vroom.
2. Loud vroom.
3. Loud vroom.
4. Curves and vroom.
5. Speed vroom.
LOL I'm also down with this list.
You are just so right with all of your points, I couldn’t agree more :D Even though I am not really fitting in the normal demographic group of corvettes owners with only being 21 years old.😅
I know a few folks in their 20s who own Corvettes lately, almost like a mini youth movement.
C4s in particular have gotten cheap enough to be possible hot cars for younger people, and I love seeing it!
I'm just a kid and I'm gonna get my first vette next year
I was raised in the Detroit area during the 70's, all kinds of cool cars. My older 2nd cousin had a 63 split window I just fell in love with as a kid. I now own a C5, it's just fun as hell to drive for a great price.
C5s are awesome cars, might want to upgrade to one someday.
And the split window 63 is an all time classic! My all time favorite American car design.
I love my 1994 convertible corvette because it gives me corvette privilege
Thanks to Corvette team, who felt threatened by Fiero, whined to have GM kill Fiero. The Fiero actually kicked Corvette's ass on the track with V8 installed in mid 80's. If you look at '88 Fiero's suspension system, it's pretty advanced for the time. It took Corvette until C8 to catch up with Fiero's suspension system. Jeez!
Fiero development began a bit past the halfway point of C3 production... So, in all fairness, that is the 'Vette generation that one would think Fiero might come closest to, fundamentally. But no. Fiero is/was fundamentally light years ahead of the C3 when one examines the frame, or the basic platform of each car. The C3 frame looks like it could have come from a puck up truck aside from the independent rear suspension. In fact... from what I could see, Chevy never got even close to the same level of fundamental chassis design that the Fiero spaceframe started out with up to and including the C7. I think everyone has seen spyshots of the C8 spaceframe and have marvelled at the similarity in basic design to the Fiero Spaceframe.
So... all in all... Obviously the Corvette has always been more than capable of outperforming Fiero since day one nearly forty years ago simply by virtue of much greater HP, and all else that can come with that, not to mention bigger brakes, etc, etc, etc. Fair enough... Give the Chevy folks their due both then and now; Corvette is and has been a Hell of a car!
But.... Chevy had every reason to be scared to death of Fiero back in the day and here is why:
Many of us... a bunch of rank amateurs... have taken the basic platform of many a Fiero and damned near turned it into a supercar with nothing more than simple bolt-on mods and upgrades. Heck... almost everything we do and use comes right out of GM's very own parts bins. Now.... If a bunch of amatures and several clever entrepreneurs over the years can pull this off, just think what a corporation full of seasoned engineers could have done with it over the course of a decade or two! And, just based on what I observed at the Corvette museum, I believe the Fiero spaceframe had at LEAST a three or four generation lifespan to it, not counting any special HP model upgrades or even a switch to aluminum!
Yeah.... Chevy had every reason to fear what an F2 Fiero and beyond would have meant to Corvette regarding sales competition.... What I saw at their own museum last week just screamed that loud and clear!
I have a C4 1996 corvette and I love it.Was given it as a Valentine's gift by my husband in 96.It is Sebring Silver and I now have 82 thousands miles on it I am 78 years old and when I drive it I feel like a spring chicken when I take the hard top off I always turn heads when I drive it awesome!!
@@ednaslayton4723 So? Your point???
Fieros always turn heads too, even at car shows over C8. Ha Because people couldn't believe that Pontiac already did that nearly 40 years ago.
02:28 - Official car of the Apollo astronauts?! WHAT?!?!?!? Do Corvette's run on rocket fuel?
Yep, OFFICIAL! The coolest cars for the coolest dudes on (and off) the planet!
The lunar rover is actually a stripped down corvette.
I am looking forward to buying a corvette c4 of the earlier years with the 4+3. Why?
-Innovation
-80s Technology
-80s Razorblade Styling
-Actually beating most of the more expensive cars that are even here in Germany more expensive today compared to a C4.
Drivable, complete, nice C4 Vettes with an Automatic before the Facelift start around 13.000-15.000€ (That's 16.000 US Dollars)
4+3 Vettes are so rare that I can barely make an estimate. But later 6spd Vettes are around 18.000-25.000€ depending on mileage and stuff...
I will definetely look on import prices...
Best of luck with your search! I made a C4 Buyers Guide here that might help you with more info if you havent seen it already...

The thing about the looks of the corvette is (even though I think it is the best looking car overall throughout it's generations) there are a few that aren't as universally liked. A lot of people don't like the looks of the C4. I do, but I don't like the C5. Regardless, even with the C5 it has a certain presence about it's design with the unmistakable corvette long hood and wide body that just demand respect. I am 21 and saving up for (hopefully) a C6, if not then a C4.
Styling is incredibly subjective. I agree that the C5 isnt as attractive to my eye as the C4 or C6, C5 looks a little doughy and big by comparison. But I still think they're good looking cars and wouldn't mind owning one of them next!
It’s so weird… I used to HATE Corvettes! Honestly, thought that were extremely ugly looking - especially the C4 … but now, I find myself shopping for a C4 or C5! Don’t know what happened to me?!This channel definitely had a big influence too
I'm glad I can help you see these as "cool"! I feel ya...Maybe we're just getting older??
They “lit the light in” lol not going to lie, when I get bored of my Vette all I have to do is take the targa off and it’s like a new car to me again.
I know EXACTLY what you mean! It's a great feature that most other sports cars just dont have.
Number 6 = The Name .
No intricate nomenclatures, just one word full of prestige.
- what car you own?
- A Corvette

Well said! What an awesome name too. I read an article about the guy who named it, came from the nimble navy warships, which also fits.
@@RetroCarsForever it fits, yeah ...
I love my c4 corvette easily the funnest and most enjoyable car I've ever owned. Looking to buy a newer model to add to my collection. Any suggestions?
I've personally always loved the C5 and C6s as well (wont be surprised if I buy one of those at some point in the future).
C7s and C8s have a LOT more depreciation to go, so the C5 and C6s are great values if you want a great deal on a Corvette that's a lot easier to live with than the C4 (if, perhaps, lacking in the C4's vintage charms).
