Love the straight forward style in this video! For the very same reasons you mention the shoe is boring is the same reason I love them; Glycerine and Adrenaline alike. It’s not a shoe I put on for great times. It’s an absolute work horse and yes it’s a bit boring. But if I want squeeze in a bit of overreaching in terms of distance on slow runs, or recovering; then for me the shoe has my back. To me it’s the polar opposite of a tempo shoe. My last pair is on 500 miles and just recently started to show serious wear.
Brooks Ghost 6 was my first running shoe ever, recommended by the running store I had my gait analysis done. I used to love it so I ran for years only in the Ghost all the way from version 6 to version 12. Then it started feeling "boring" as you said and I tried the Hoka Clifton. I don't think I will go back to Brooks unless they go for a serious update.
I wonder how many shop retailers are actually honest with customers who want to buy Brooks shoes and say "this shoe is comfortable and dependable...but there are better more exciting shoes out there which can do more"? I've never had it said to me and bet most others haven't either

Brook’s DNA foam, that many models by them use, feels like a Walmart shoe by Starter. Boring, indeed. Many buy Brooks because they’re not aware of better out there for the same money.
That's a LOT of weight for a nitrogen infused midsole! I mean look at Skechers hyberburst shoes. Admittedly, I've only tried on brooks and I don't remember what model. But for whatever reason, they've never released a shoe that gives me the fizz. You nailed it though, it seems Brooks wearers are Brooks wearers. I think a lot of running shoe stores push Brooks on customers.
I have 2 pairs of the Hyperion Tempo. Amazing shoe. Super comfortable.. Very light and very lively midsole. Also stable and lasts forever.. So Brooks knows how to make a winner..
Brooks may be boring but the reason so many buy them is they work and rarely make major changes in each iteration unlike a lot of brands. who make major changes each year that destroy the feel of the shoe and it stops working for you...reliability over excitement is what most average runners want.

I’ve been in touch with Brooks about serious out of the box issues with outsole traction in the damp/wet on Ghost 14 and apparently the same material is used on the Glycerin 19 but was supposed to be improved in this version. Not everyone experiences as issue maybe because they just happened to have scuffed them up enough or they are more sure footed. When I started running again, I bought a pair of brooks. Why,they were a “safe” purchase. Example if you had a brooks version 1 then by a version 19 as a whole your getting the same shoe. Reliability. Unlike other companies that will have say 8 versions, 5 will be better then good,1 will be terrible, 2 will have issues. I have moved on. but I think Brooks for some, although boring, you as a whole know what you are getting. And although there are better shoes there is also a lot worse.
Fordy Fordy Fordy! The frustration you have with Brooks has been evident for some while (Yep I noticed haha). But thats your journey. I am a slow amateur that puts in around 30 miles a week and go through my fair share of trainers. I have tried Adidas, Mizuno, Asiacs, Hoka, Nike, salmon, new Balance and so on, mixing up purchases so as to keep me a little more interested. But at the end of the day I returned to brooks after an 8 year hiatus just through online reviews and UA-cam etc because they appeared trust worthy which is what I always remembered. Now with this much extra experience under my feet The Adrenaline GTS did everything and more that the other perfectly good shoes did. So here I am having grabbed a pair of Glycerin 20 GTS thinking it's Brooks all the way. My New Balance Prism outsoles are terrible they wear so quickly. My Asiacs Gel Kayano 22 were too soft destroying the reason cushioning is there. So I get to a point where I don't care whether they look the same as something they produced before just so long as my milage is comfortable and the shoe is durable. None of this makes me a Brooks fanboy, I will try something else when the time is right but I'm very disappointed with New Balance despite being attracted to their looks. So there's my thoughts...now if I were quicker and had a more neutral gait perhaps I'd be tempted by the Saucony Endorphin speed 2's. Let it go Fordy let it go 😁

Fordy, your perspectives are meaningful to me. I like the way you don't pull your punches and tells it you perceive it. To show what can be done with an update of a model that has been bland and turn it into something desirable would be the Saucony Ride 15. Brooks needs to follow this model as a demonstration for what can be done to create something exciting.

I loved the stack heights, cushioning, way foot sat & was / is cradled deep within shoe ( like bucket seats in car cradles & hugs one's body )... I liked J-Frame & recently in past several years they've been extending rear heel on many of their shoes... While the shoes ( road & trail ) felt amazing, plush, good support, stable ( outsole tends to be straight & wide )... The only problem was if used Hokas exclusively for all foot activity for several months I practically always developed Plantar Fascitis... I'm a heel striker & after year of trying to figure out why Hokas would always give me Plantar Fascitis the only item that eventually stood out compared to all other shoes that never caused Plantar Fascitis was the low heel to toe drops, typically 5 to 4 on most of Hokas I own & also tried... Hokas doesn't really make high heel to toe drop, 8, 10 to 12 shoes... I stocked up on & purchased so many Hokas that I'm having to work off inventory periodically, alternating with my other shoes... Bondi, Clifton, Clifton Edge, Rincons, Arahis, Gaviotas, Elevons, Carbon Xs, Machs, Mafates, Stinsons, Challengers, Torrents, Speedgoats,.. So tried New Bslance & Like Those too... Especially 1080v series... But after lots of time ~8 months, money & research; ultimately I discovered that it was Brooks Higher than Typical Heel to Toe drop shoes that worked best for me... I usually by two pairs of same shoes and alternate between shoes every other time go out... I tried Addidas, Saucony, On, etc... None of those would feel great out of box... There's no one brand everyone likes in anything... Some like Fords, Chevys... Some like Toyotas, Hondas, Mazdas... Some like BMWs, Mercedes Same applies to all other car brands, makes & models... This is true! The shoe is good very good actually at what it’s for … just very boring
You didn’t mention the brilliantly updated Saucony Ride 15 as another great shoe in the daily trainer overcrowded market. Had mine delivered this week. 9oz in my size 10 £130 awesome and please do a review of them??
Thanks again and try not to get too down about brooks you can’t win them all 😏
Ian you are a mind reader!! I just filmed today my first impressions and I love them really do!
I have the glycerin 18 and 20. To me they feel very different some for better some for worse.
This is depressing! 😆
But kudos for the honest first impressions. I'm eyeing this initially because of the new compound but I might pass on it now.
There’s nothing bad here just boring but boring can be good!
I have the guide and it is so sweet they have done an amazing job of taking a dull firm waste of time and making it look and feel awesome ... take note brooks
Haven't watched the video yet but I'm guessing, boring, clunky and exactly the same as the glycerine 19. 😂
You sure you not seen it 🤣
Nailed it 😂
Never owned or bought a brooks shoe even with there constant ramming down your neck advertising there the Audi of the running shoe world imo every retailer or running event has a brooks up sell buy policy gait analytics shops always try selling ya a pair don’t like there ethos tbh
What shoes do you like to run in?
@@davidrosenthal5795 fair question
If you've never tried any of their shoes, how do you know you don't like them?
What type of activities requiring atheletic shoes do you like & enjoy participating in?
Walking, Jogging, Running 🏃♂️ , Hiking, Cycling?
What Brands of Shoes Do You Like?
There's no one shoe or shoe manufacturer everyone will like...
I'm just curious what you like?
@@Thankful_n_Grateful I’ve worn and used them on runs never owned or brought any just don’t like them and my opinion won’t change after 10 years I like what I like 👍🏻

Thanks for quick response...
But I'm also curious about:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I used to be Nike Exclusively...
For many, many years...
Then went all out with Hokas...
Road & Trail...
I loved the stack heights, cushioning, way foot sat & was / is cradled deep within shoe ( like bucket seats in car cradles & hugs one's body )...
I liked J-Frame & recently in past several years they've been extending rear heel on many of their shoes...
While the shoes ( road & trail ) felt amazing, plush, good support, stable ( outsole tends to be straight & wide )... The only problem was if used Hokas exclusively for all foot activity for several months I practically always developed Plantar Fascitis...
I'm a heel striker & after year of trying to figure out why Hokas would always give me Plantar Fascitis the only item that eventually stood out compared to all other shoes that never caused Plantar Fascitis was the low heel to toe drops, typically 5 to 4 on most of Hokas I own & also tried... Hokas doesn't really make high heel to toe drop, 8, 10 to 12 shoes...
I stocked up on & purchased so many Hokas that I'm having to work off inventory periodically, alternating with my other shoes...
Bondi, Clifton, Clifton Edge, Rincons, Arahis, Gaviotas, Elevons, Carbon Xs, Machs, Mafates, Stinsons, Challengers, Torrents, Speedgoats,..
So tried New Bslance & Like Those too... Especially 1080v series...
But after lots of time ~8 months, money & research; ultimately I discovered that it was Brooks Higher than Typical Heel to Toe drop shoes that worked best for me...
I usually by two pairs of same shoes and alternate between shoes every other time go out...
I tried Addidas, Saucony, On, etc...
None of those would feel great out of box...
There's no one brand everyone likes in anything...
Some like Fords, Chevys...
Some like Toyotas, Hondas, Mazdas...
Some like BMWs, Mercedes
Same applies to all other car brands, makes & models...
My point is I'm cool with fact Brooks aren't for you...
Just curious what you do like...
I learn from other people's experiences & opinions...
Glycerins are amazing shoes. They're the most comfortable shoes around. I can run 35+ km in them and feel great the next day. Why is the look so important? And why do we want our running shoes too look like yeezys?? Alphaflys are the platypus of running shoes.
they are very 1985 and heavy. have covered nearly 500 miles 8n my 19's and are looking for a new long easy run shoe.
I'm really enjoying the Endorphin Speed 2's but want to complement them with an easy run shoe too. never tried Puma so will look into that, would the Saucony Ride 15's be an alternative too?
Happy to receive any suggestions. looking for comfort but with some assistance I.e not a brick in feel and weight.
thanks in advance
Those rides are meant to be great but can be a little firm. What about the new balance 1080 v12?
They should just keep putting out the Aurora-BL at a lower price. They took that shoe and just made it more heavy here...
Yep
Chris, you forget there are five classes of shoes
1 race
2 tempo
3 long run
4 daily
5 DAD SHOE
#springierbrick = DAD SHOE
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Thanks for the video Chris always good and very informative, btw I prefer your old video, standing and sound better, right now to close to camera 😁
New camera in the house and we are playing with sound and lighting
If it ain’t broken…. I guess their sales volumes are good enough not to worry about it.
Yep like I said there’s nothing bad here just boring but boring can be good!
These or the 1080 v12v?
1080v12
They need a total overhaul of all their models imo, that heel collar needs to be changed into a flare and their shoes fit needs to be adjusted.
Tots agree
Honestly, they would gain so much by replacing their design team. Brooks are simply awful looking to a degree that it is barely subjective. I do own a pair, but I hate how they look. Like you said, I just can't get exited about using them.
Yeah 100%
The question is weight and This is the X of This and more tênis
If someone really want the nitrogen midsole maybe got the maxroad 5...lighter and cheaper
100%
Doing alright Fordy, hope you're doing alright too.
Seems like I'm one of the 2 billion people. :/
And there’s nothing wrong with being part of those
Looks like a brick. Feels like a brick… just a springier brick.🤦🏻♂️🤣😂 Maybe Brooks need to change their “oo” into “ii” then? Great video.🔥😂🤣
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Brooks and Mizuno 🥱😴😴
There’s nothing bad here just boring but boring can be good!
Great tênis
Another negative review. I feel like you only actually enjoy like 3 shoes.
I’m just being honest I know it’s hard to find on UA-cam
@@FordyRuns …being honest and being negative are two different things. Lots of ShoeTubers are honest without being harsh.
