Making a Bound Edge Seam 1911 Holster with Milled Leather Liner ASMR Leathercraft

- In this leather working video I make a 1911 leather cross draw holster with geometric stamp tooling and edge binding. Some may call this a turned edge or a French binding. But since it's a separate piece of leather from the lining it doesn't really qualify as a French binding. I've also switched to using a milled leather for my linings so I can glue and work on them 'flat' instead of having to roll them as in previous videos. I highly recommend this!
Stamps I used on this holster (purchased at ProLeatherCarvers):
SOZO LX2 Geometrics Diamond Lined Pattern Stamp
Barry King - #2 Barker / Veiner Stamp
When I was a kid, in the early 1950s, my mom had a friend, Helen Corwin, who was a leather maker. Helen made everything from gloves and boots to belts, chaps, saddles, bridles, etc. if it was made of leather, she made it. Her trademark was “Corwin Maker.” She worked out of her living room and the house smelled so good!
What an outstanding build and a pure pleasure to watch. Thank you for showing how you create these masterpieces!
Gorgeous
That is a savage piece of leather work right there. I tip my hat to your skill.
As a fledgling leatherworker (Hobbyist) your channel is absolutely perfect. Thank you and keep up the great videos.
You sure made the box stitching at the end look easy. And the secret to bound edges: fine motor skills and patience. Very nicely done.
Another great video! Beautiful holster!Thank you, I’m a huge fan of your work. It is good to see I’m not the only one making holsters on Memorial weekend. Thanks from Oklahoma!
There’s something very relaxing about watching this whole process. 😌
Horrifically overdone, you can’t profit at that detail level
Some things arent about profit, and some people pay for detail
Being a woodworker for years, I had no idea about the effort and skills. I want one for my own. This was beautiful!
Beautiful holster!!! Always fun to watch a master craftsman in their field of expertise.
Phenomenal craftsmanship!! Wasnt expecting the last few steps you did, the glue on the thread is genius! Hand stitching, applying the thinner leather for the edge and the end cap (muzzle end), excellent job!
BEAUTIFUL. It's what a respected 1911 deserves. Thanks for sharing.
A true artist, and a very fine piece of working art.

Un trabajo impecable, no me canso de ver cómo transforma pedazos de cuero en obras de arte, (caviar).
I was captivated watching you creating this work of art, AWESOME! The intense patience and ability you have makes me hungry to learn more about this trade. You are a MASTER at this.
Great video. Thanks. Lost count of how many times the music repeated , BUT at least it was not 'in you're face'.
Fake! It's all CGI and clever editing! No one is THAT talented, so it has to be fake! lol
its a pity you dont make patterns for them they would sell out straight away fab holster
Have always been amazed at leather craft. The tooling and methods are amazing. Your skill is amazing. Great holster and great job. Your customers get what they are paying for...
Thank you very much!
I love finely crafted leather products for my knives and handguns. Watching the vid I think you probably don't charge enough! Just outstanding to say the least. stay safe
That's ok. I don't have a cell phone so I can't text, lol. Scam is on them.
MAGNIFICENT WORK, do you make a Cross-Draw for the 1911? @Road Agent Leather
music is annoying, no need for any music......maybe intro only
Mamoste , Min hûnerê te gelekî eciband .Tu her hebî❤
Not made in CCP land. I hope for whomever this was made is worthy of it. I believe it takes a person with a clear conscience to produce workmanship of this quality.
Thank you for posting.
Hi, nice learning curve, woul like to know which shade of antique finish have you used to get that look thanks for the video ,good luck
It's Fiebings dark brown antique paste.
i am old enough to remember in school we had a SHOP class, leather work, made chisels plastic laminating, great stuff. Today, UFF DA
What a beautiful addition to a timeless machine!!!

Nice job I like it. thank you
That is nice, and it’s almost therapeutic to watch you work!
Excellent craftsmanship. After watching your toe plug tutorial I tried it. I will be doing toe plugs from now on.
I am going to have to get a 1911 just to put in one his gorgeous holsters.

Nothing like watching a master in his craft. I hope you'll pass down your skills to a few apprentices. Very much liked and subscribed. Thank you!
It’s nice to see an artisan like yourself making something beautiful the proper way. That holster will be around for centuries. (With enough neatsfoot…;)
Your hands have magic in them. A gift from God.
Only once I thought oh no( with the banding). It really turned out beautiful!
I LOVE your format. Shut up and throw down. I learned in the first 2 minutes what some guys blab about for ten.
Thank you for sharing your method!
Artisan to high degree could have excelled at surgery if so desired wow!!

10/10 Amazing craftsmanship!!
I have been interested in leather working since high school but never really got into it. Lately though I’ve been on the hunt for a new wallet and just can’t seem to find anything I like, so I thought about making my own. Is there a chance you could do a video on what tools and leather you use? Keep up the amazing quality.
For cheap an garment leather I use Hide House in Napa California, excellent customer service an advise
I meant chap not cheap
One of the best holster I've ever seen! I have a 2011 I would love to dress up in a fine tuxedo like this. Great job and work
This boys and girls is why high end custom holsters are costly.
I'm just a amateur, so I can make my own, but I learned more than a few things from this vid.
Thanks for making the vid hoss. Excellent high end holster.

I've looked, and I can't find a web site. Where can I find your holsters online?
Hi! I have an Etsy shop where I sell the stuff I make in my videos. But there's currently no listings.
@@RoadAgentLeather Ok. Thank you.
Beautiful. I’d like to copy it. My father left me his 1911 he carried in WW2. I don’t have a holster for it. Where can I get this pattern.? Thank you
FIRST TIME VIEWER: My father was quite the leather smith. Whenever he worked the leather, he would moisten it with water prior to working it but you don’t. Why is that? BTW, great video. Might just take up Leather Working again.
He was constantly spraying it with water.
Ya, so did my father. Also said leather couldn’t be “worked” after. You have a great talent just as he did. Dad made mom a purse when we were little, and up until she passed is ‘09, that was the only purse she ever had. In fact we put it in with her when she passed. Never showed any signs of wear. Really sorry now that I never learned from him.
OMG, you are a true master of your craft. Absolutely awesome skills. I’m new to leather crafting, during CoVid lockdowns. But having seen this I’m unsure whether to carry on with my new hobby and be inspired by your work or just be realistic, get my coat and leave the party 🤩
Please don't give it up! Just like any skill: you learn from each project. You should see my first holsters . . . absolute garbage.
@@RoadAgentLeather ive been making a few leather things here and there for a few years, and i learned more watching this video than i have in 6 months!
I ABSOLUTELY lov3 me a 1911....and these damn beautiful holsters aren't really helping my addiction
How dare I forget about the Colt Peacemaker.... the name alone guys AM I RIGHT
OMG that was amazing. Like watching a boot maker. So cool.
Classy holster. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching!
Amazing craftsmanship
Excellent workmanship!
AMAZING craftsman
What a master craftsman. Holy Cow!!!!
That is one badass holster. Very nice.
Finally!! Something very impressive on UA-cam... Absolutely beautiful work
Let's say I wanted to contact you about a cross draw for a FN 509.…... 1, is that frame even a possibility? 2, how would I get in touch?
Your work is always exceptional and inspirational to a hobbyist holster maker! Thank you for sharing. What is the diamond stamp you used? It’s super!
That stamp is a "SOZO LX2 Geometrics Diamond Lined Pattern Stamp". Purchased from Pro Leather Carvers
Beautiful just Beautiful
hello Sir. i really enjoyed this video!. being a professional leather worker myself, i found this video to be very informative. i do not make holsters or work with such a thick gauges of leather, but it was interesting for me to watch your work process. (glueing the edging to the side of the holster leather and shaping it before stitching is a brilliant idea!) speaking of work process, i am VERY interested to two tools you used in this video. the stitch groover with interchangeable cutting bits and the small angled rasp file you used to rough up the holster edge before glueing the edging in place. if you could point me in the direction of these tool makers i would be very grateful. lastly, where do you get your leather? specifically, the leather you used for the edging? it looked to be very uniform in texture and supple. i mostly use imported european leather for most of my bags because i can not find a leather source here in the states with similar quality. again, great video and great craftsmanship.
Thanks! Those exact tools are the "craftool pro stitching grover set" and "craftool pro detail rougher," both available from Tandy Leather. However, Weaver Leather Supply sells identical tools if you prefer to buy from them. Almost all my leather comes from Tandy. I live in Fort Worth, Texas where they're headquartered.... so it's kinda hard for me NOT to shop there when I can go into an actual store and pick out my own hides. Curious where you buy your leather? I'm always looking for new sources. The leather I used for the edging is just plain 2oz veg-tan. I wet it so I can mould it around the edge, then let it dry.
@@RoadAgentLeather your comment section is getting spammed with a fake account made to look like it's from you. Just thought you might like to know.
Hello Road Agent I would like to know how to get a basic 1911 pattern like this one with that kind of back belt loop . I have searched everywhere for that kind of pattern and can't find it on the internet. I really like that style of belt look . Thank you oh I love all your videos very relaxing to watch your work .
Very nice work. Wish it was ASMR but could hardly hear over the xylophone. ☹
Amazing craft work. You make it look so easy…but i know better. Hat’s off to you sir…
Love your work do you sell any of them?

I thought I was pretty good at leatherworking, but after watching some of your videos I realize I am not even a rank armature by comparison.
Incredible attention to detail well done . Happy trails
Where can one purchase your holsters?
Thanks for subscribing! Unfortunately I'm unable to take custom orders at the moment.
Nicely done, thanks for sharing!
Very interesting. Your skill in using each tool is inspiring! Now that I'm slowing down I will attempt some of your techniques. I do make straight razor strops and use a brass logo to emboss them. How do you get your work to show a contrasting dark to it? Thanks for the video! PS Dig the music, can't tell if it's Kung Fu music or Spaghetti western, haha!
My question is do you take and gifts? I have an old older Chrome belt buckle reversible the belt was no good but I'd like to send you the fuckle like you could use it. Could you send me your address and I will send it to you.
Beautiful.... how many hours (on average) is invested in a project such as this?
You could be a Neuro surgeon. Sooooo steady!!! Found myself holding my breath when you were trimming the round edge. :)
would like to contact you about a similar piece in blue/black to match my series 70 stainless with blue and black grips
I love your imagination and technique, but would you please tell us what and why you're doing it.
Very nice work. Enjoyed the video.
Шедевр. Очень приятно было смотреть за работой. Истинное удовольствие.
Nice work, I seen a Clever use of Knife the other day, cutting edge up, material on top of a piece of carpet.
That is going to be one happy client.
You've done this before 👍
OMG leather gear for firearms is so natural in my opinion 😍 I love ❤️ good leather gear for my guns.
So nice!
At 11:39 I already took a Xanax hahahah cause I thought that s just impossible to make but it’s a pleasure to watch the video
Well my friend I’ve got to give you a compliment! For it is due ! 👍
And you are most worthy of it, what a beautiful piece of work!
Congratulations on your piece of art ! Good job 👏
You see when I was much younger I too worked the leather and it has truly never left my heart ❤️ !
However I have to many other challenges to deal with in this life to have stayed with it. I will continue to watch you work my friend! Thanks
Thank you very much!

Very nice !
one of the nicest holsters ever. clean and simple, but with great details.
Thanks!
Excellent work! I picked up some great tips. Thanks!
Beautiful. Great craftsmanship
Beautiful cross draw holster. I assume you must sell these? I’d sure like to know how to buy/order one? ❤
Amazing craftsmanship 👍
Question: any reason there is no hammer strap.
PS: you do beautiful work, I've learned allot watching you work! Keep it up!
Thanks! I did punch holes for a simple lanyard-style retention strap (similar to those in my other videos.) I just didn't catch it on video.
how do I go about a commission Springfield RO 4" barrel
That looks easy....anyone could do it after watching one or two youtube videos
make a shoulder holster for a xds 9mm and then sell it or give it away, hint hint lol :)
1-Why didn’t you shape before glueing in lining?
2-what weight was shell, lining, rolled edge pieces of leather?
3-how long was antiquing gel on before you wiped it off?
4-Where do I get the tool at 21:06?
In case nobody has told you…. It’s a dick move to show us how to make a perfect holster knowing we still won’t be able to do it…. So, thanks dick, lol…
Thanks!
1. By "shape" do you mean bending the leather around a dowel like I've done in my previous videos? If so, it's because I'm using milled leather for the lining instead of plain veg-tan. The milled leather doesn't have issues with crinkling when folded.
2.The shell is 9-oz veg-tag. The lining is 2-oz milled veg-tan. The edge piece was veg-tan skived down to around 1-oz ---I did't actually measure this; just needing it "thin" (that's what I'm doing at 11:20)
3.The antique gel is applied then immediately wiped off. Allow to dry.
4. A size #0 edge beveler. Specifically a Tandy Pro brand (but you can also find similar ones on Amazon)
Nice
