Making a Custom Leather Thumb Break Holster for a Walther PPK Leathercraft ASMR

  • This was a special request for an outside-the-waistband leather holster with thumb-break retention for a very nice Walther PPK. Not necessarily for concealed carry; think more open-carry. There's a bit of gratuitous footage at the beginning showing me prep my work area and sharping my knives. I created this pattern especially for this video. I also applied Fiebing's Resolene for a glossy finish ... something I don't normally do with my leatherwork, but thought it gave the holster a more classy look ... which definitely fits the PPK. Make sure to subscribe for more leather working / leather craft videos!

    What thickness leather did you use for this holster, and where can I find heavy duty snap fasteners with longer posts such as yours? Wonderful work!

      8-9 oz for the outer shell. Liner is 2-3 milled veg-tan. All from Tandy leather.

    The problem with this is the retention strap goes across the back strap. This impedes a smooth draw. Otherwise your work is awesome thanks for the video

    When you put the groves in what the space apart from the edge and from each other.?

    • @RoadAgentLeather
      @RoadAgentLeather  2 роки тому

      From the edge of the leather I generally put my stitch line the same distance as the thickness of the leather. All other lines/groves have no specific rule. I just place by what I think looks best.

    Excellent design of the snap strap/belt loop! I've done mine like that before but never designed it half as well as you did.
    Very very good design overall and great looking holster to boot! Well done!
    I like the way that type of belt loop design makes the pistol grip hug the body.

      It's a really nice gun. Too bad it's not mine! But to be honest, if a gun can't slide into my jean pocket I generally won't carry it. The PPK is still a little large and heavy for pocket carry.
