How long is the storage period before all this service is necessary? Will I need to go through this work if I only store my vehicle during the winter season (i.e. 3-4 months)?
I used to store a Lincoln during the winter months and no you don't have to do all this for 3 to 4 months. I did, however, change my oil and filled the gas tank just for good measure. My other fluids were so well-maintained, I didn't have to flush those anyway.
So I goofed and did not prepare my vehicle, was not planning to leave it so long, but it has ended up sitting in my garage for over 4 years. Is there a comprehensive list of stuff somewhere that I should do before driving it again?
Thanks for making this vid. A question about the "extended period of time". I have a 4-year old SUV, but with only 8,000 highway miles. It sits over 95% of the days. I drive it once in a couple of months. Does my vehicle fall into this category "cars that sit"? Thanks.
LongTimeTTFan Damn, you must be ballin. Do you know how much depreciation you’ve incurred on just driving it once every couple months ? I don’t know what car it is, but I’m assuming that’s at least 10k parked in a depreciating asset. Might as well invest it in a savings account.
Thanks for the advice. I add one can of Gumout Multi-System Tune-Up when I fill up the gas tank. But the gas does have 10% ethanol. I'm going to switch to pure gas next time.
So so sad to learn of Pats passing today. He was such a nice guy and I learned so much about cars from him. He will be greatly missed.
Love the paint job on that truck.
I have 2 cars and this video inspired me to drive my second car more often....
Love ya Goss! Hello from Davenport, Iowa!

Michael Flinn I would reference ChrisFix’s video on cars that have been sitting a long time
You may have to have your gas tank drained and filled with fresh gas and I would recommend changing your oil.
4 years. Likely the seals are shot as well from sitting watch for oil and coolant leaks. Letting a car sit is the single worse thing you can do to it.

As long as you give it a good run once a month it should be OK.

Thanks. Yes, I've been doing that, driving on highway for half an hour trip at least once in a while.

Thanks for the upload! Read the title as "cars that shit" but Honda was nowhere to be found!
