It's funny how time catches up to us. I can remember as a child watching PBS on the weekends seeing Pat on Motorweek. I wasn't even old enough to know what times to catch the show at that age as the scheduling changed all the time. Wish I loved my job as much as he did. Though we're a small group of fans, you've had an impact on all of us. Thank you.
Just learned Pat is no longer with us. A very sad day for this car loving child of the 80's, and everyone else. Thanks so much for all the memories Pat, you will be missed.
I'm happy Pat's knowledge has been preserved. Never thought about testing coolant, especially with a volt meter. I'll have to check the coolant on my old Volvo
Sorry, the volt meter test is bad info. I looked at this a few yrs ago. It turns out a low reading results when the coolant is weak in combination with the meter probe wires you insert. The voltage goes up when the coolant concentration is higher. Try it in a cup, weak and strong, meter must be a digital type (1 Meg-ohm input impedance). Then test in your car, note when the engine is running, a voltage drop in the engine ground cable will make voltage seem higher too, this is due to several amps used on engine mounted items. The 'voltage' in the coolant is weak and generates very little current, set your meter to the milli-amp range and you may see 2-3 micro-amps at best, not enough to cause corrosion on it's own.
Geesh, just found out about Pat's passing this morning....totally shocked, he taped a show just a couple weeks ago....my condolences to Pat's family and the Motorweek family....he'll be surely missed...
I remember being fascinated by MotorWeek as a kid, especially Goss' Garage, even wrote a letter as a kid! Rest in Peace Pat, and I hope these videos here will continue to educate and inspire.
Oh no! Shocked to hear of Pat passing away. His weekly advice over the past 40 years is unparalleled - I once wrote to him and that started a chain of emails we exchanged. Pat, you will be missed. RIP.
Pat Goss's Garage made ownership and maintenance of a vehicle not a chore but something you could be proud to do yourself. Rest in peace, and thank you for so many years of information and straight talk.
Been watching Pat's segments since I was a teen-gearhead. My dad used to watch it with me, frequently; and we'd apply many of Pat's tips to all of our vehicles. I lost my dad in 2020..now Pat's gone, too. The world sucks just a little bit more, today. My deepest condolences to his loved ones.
Rest In Peace, Pat and thank you for everything. I can’t count the number of episodes of Goss’ Garage over the last 40 years that have helped me with my own cars, right down to this very episode, which reminded me it was time to check my coolant and get my car ready for spring. I’ll miss these weekly visits with you at the Garage.
I like many others watched this show as a kid even as the times changed I always found a way to watch Motorweek. Pat Goss will be forever missed. I was always looking forward to his segments to learn something new about car maintenance, as we all have to deal with something on our cars at some point. Pat may be gone but his legacy and knowledge will live on and I hope the Motorweek family have a special tribute in store in his honor.
What a tremendous loss for the Motorweek family and automotive community as a whole. Thank you for all the great memories sir. Your tips and tricks contributed to us all learning and having more reliable vehicles as we commuted. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family and loved ones.
RIP Mr. Goss, you will always be the OG of televised auto repair tips. It will be tough watching MotorWeek without Pat Goss and his unbiased, helpful segments on car care backed by decades of experience. His loss to MotorWeek is akin to 60 Minutes without Andy Rooney 🙏🏽🕊
My sincere condolences to the Goss family. I grew up watching Goss’s Garage and Pat’s timely tips on car maintenance. Pat will sadly be missed by every loyal Motorweek viewer. Sorry that you are gone Pat the staff and viewers of Motorweek will miss you on the best automotive magazine. Rest In Peace Pat
I love Mr. Goss. His voice was very relaxing. I am glad to learn about the ohm meter test. I have been using a cheap refractometer and it has served me well. I'm sure you're tuning up sweet rides in Heaven! 🙏
Pat, was such an excellent man. I appreciate all of his advice he has given through the years thank you. And may he rest in peace. Praying 4 his family & Motor Week family aslo.
Pat Goss always did a great job of explaining technical things in easy to understand language. I've watched MotorWeek since the mid 80s and Pat was very much part of my car culture years. Rest in Peace Pat.
MotorWeek will never be the same, but of course will carry on giving us informative reviews and educational segments. Pat was what, 79 here? Looked great for his age.
We all gotta go sometime.....its one generation after another....some people are irreplaceable, there will be no one like Goss and no one like John when he's gone
Rest in peace, Pat. He was amazing and will go down in history.
I'm so to hear of Pat's passing and all my prayers and sympathy for his family and the Motorweek family. 😞

Rest in Peace pat, you definitely helped me save money and learn
I'm happy Pat's knowledge has been preserved. Never thought about testing coolant, especially with a volt meter. I'll have to check the coolant on my old Volvo
I do that for both of my vehicles, my Nissan pickup and my BMW all the time just to make sure the coolant systems are in optimal performance.
