What a beautiful song from a beautiful lady! I just saw a list of the top 20 hits of 1972- this beautiful song was on it! Beautiful Lady, Beautiful voice, and her and Billy have been happily married for over 50 years!!Talented couple!
You're correct. I had them on 8 track. She is beautiful I had a factory 8 track in my 76 Pontiac Grand Le Man's. There was lots of great time growing up in the 70s.
I have probably listened to this song well over 100 times and never ever get tired of it. Marilyn's voice is perfection, and the emotional intensity she infuses into this song is second to none. Stunningly elegant and classy. And timeless.
There never has been a classier woman in pop music than Marilyn McCoo. This song has been over shadowed by the 5th's other hits, but it's one of my favorites.
Marilyn was technically too good for the 5th and pop music in general. If she was born 30 years earlier she would have been an American Standard immortal.
@@Noodleydoo I don't disagree with your opinion one bit, but Marilyn's voice was much better than it needed to be for pop (anybody's), and I'm not picking on modern music (I have several album credits) or The 5th at all. My point is that Marilyn had a voice good enough for much more that pop/rock required.
Marilyn was my babysitter on The Mike Douglas Show when my Aunt was a producer and she took my Mom to see Mikes New Dressing room replacing Jessica Savitches who was dethroned by Mike Douglas as the big star at KYW tv 3 in Philadelphia. Years later i would meet Marilyn again and she remembered and said boy Scotty you have grown. Marilyn in my eyes will always be class and shes going through a hard time now with Billy Davis Jr. Going through cancer. God Bless both Marilyn and Billy
A truly stunning woman: elegant, classy, radiant, beautiful and a fabulous vocalist. Her and Billy Davis, Jr. also have for years modeled a great marriage and deep faith in God in an entertainment industry that often militates against both. Marilyn, you are one of a kind!
Stunning magnificence and delicate vocal skills woven into a heartfelt performance. One of the best female singers in history, greatly underappreciated
She is greatly appreciated! One of the foremost of the lovelies of the 1970s. Was a busy decade for me, so I'm grateful that these performances are available on UA-cam to show me what I missed on the way through. And I very much appreciate Marilyn.
There are a lot of wonderful singers out there, but Marylin McCoo's got to be my all-time favorite. Such a decent, class act as well -- truly an inspiration.
The thing with Marilyn aside from all the things that people usually observe which are great but what puts her a notch above even the very best is she does it just sing the music to demonstrate her talents she truly becomes part of the story and lives within the lyric and that is a quality that only the best of the best possess and she exemplifies that better than any female or male vocalist in history.... just look at the emotional exhaustion at the end of some of her very moving and touching numbers. This can be very draining especially after years and years of Performing the same music you have to really love the music and be devoted to it to still bring that out after 30 or 40 years and that is really what separates her from even the group of the very best and is not lost on any true fan it's easy to overlook that with her because it has always been there and for most people is taken for granted until you hear somebody else try to pull off one of her songs that's why so very few even bother to try...
That is a great observation. I just came from seeing her and Billy in concert. She’s 78 and he’s 83 and they have barely aged. What a beautiful couple.
I was 14 and had already met the 5th Dimension and connected with Marilyn, I was just a child. I loved their music. At 14 I had a secret love, and Marilyn McCoo sang this song, this beautiful song. I forgot about that song till I heard it at 67 and that beautiful voice awaken the memories of a 14yr. Old girl. Thanks Marilyn
Just saw that she recently turned 81!!! What a gorgeous lady with a gorgeous voice! Her and Billy have been happily married for over 50 years!! Talented couple!
Reading this got me emotional. So nostalgia I guess but also just love and respect for this singer. You don't see her caliber or style of singer much anymore
I was 14 when I first heard this on the radio. This, in the middle of the Who, Elton John, Argent, Bowie, Led Zeppelin and my other favorite hard rockers of the day. It stopped me in my tracks. I really felt the story and this remains one of my great memories of jr high. MM is truly incomparable at the top of my list of singers along with Karen Carpenter, Barbra Streisand and Judy Garland. Stunning performance!
I wonder what it feels like to sing like this. It's got to feel amazing. I wish a singer could put into words what it feels like when they sing a song like this. What would it it feel like gliding from one note to another like an eagle. I'm not a singer but when I hear songs like this, I wish I could sing.
This is my favorite song by The 5th Dimension. It took me forever to find it,and now I did. She is a beautiful singer, but why is she so underrated? I prefer her to Whitney, Beyonce and Diana. She is so "down to earth". Thank you and Blessings from Canada 🇨🇦 🙏 ❤
I could listen to this song over and over and not tire of it. Too bad that Marilyn doesn't get the recognition she deserves. If you can get your hands on the book, "Up Up And Away" I highly recommend it. It comes complete with a CD. Love and Prayers from Canada 🇨🇦❤️🇺🇸🙏✝️🌻
Totally awesome woman and vocalist...... I remember listening this and the the 5th dimension from the age of 8 and on...... and im 59 now and still listen to it ritually. Nothing like the older music comparing to the trashy music of today. That was real music and true lyrics.
I've always loved her voice. She does no disappoint here. Interesting that this is a song about a one night stand, and an effort to make it something more...
The fifth dimension sang some magnificent adult marriage songs. One less bell 🔔/ wedding bells / last night/ house for sale/ If I could reach you. Pure gold. Beautifully sung by a beautiful woman.
Simply beautiful, love this song, and keep coming back to hear it again, and again! This is one very classy lady,,, if this song doesn't bring a lump in your throat,,your not human!
What a great song , by a wonderful singer. She is a top female vocalist of All Time. Someone told me Elvis Presley was going to sing this song, Supposedly , he said " This song is perfect, I'm not messing with that one".
This song went Top 10 in November 1972, the last one to even hit the Top Twenty. As such it's forgotten by the public at large, but those of us who are in the know (I was in the fan club!!) know it's a truly unsung gem in their canon.
Incredibly talented and beautiful. A wonderful role model for all young gentle ladies. No one has replaced her, unlikely anyone will. She’s a classic unique lady...
I was stunningly captivated by this song. So touch that I can feel it inside out, but sad to say when Ms. Mc Coo, gets aged she has a hard time in her control affecting the quality of her soulful voice. I've heard several of her recordings in her advance age lately, the passion and emotions still there but not as powerful as before. Maybe all artist is, But Marilyn McCoo, is one on top of my favorite list. How i wish everybody retains its crafts and talents.
MARILYN HAS NEVER GOTTEN THE TRUE ACKNOWLEDGEMENT THAT SHE DESERVES AS A VOCALIST SHE IS BEAUTIFUL INSIDE AND OUT!!👼
Marilyn McCoo was a voice of a generation & as a solo she was a gorgeous vocalist, one of the best!
Amen. Amen. Amen. She is so under-rated.
@@donholmes9461 Not under-rated by me. I just feel sorry for the rest of the 5th Dimension for being overshadowed.
One of the best
Marilyn McCoo is my favorite female singer. My second is Vikki Carr. Both I think are underrated.
What a beautiful song from a beautiful lady! I just saw a list of the top 20 hits of 1972- this beautiful song was on it! Beautiful Lady, Beautiful voice, and her and Billy have been happily married for over 50 years!!Talented couple!
Wow! Beautiful song by one of the most beautiful ladies! Brings tears to my eyes!
Marilyn and a mic. No auto-tune... just a voice used like a Steinway or Stradivarius. Amazing.
You're correct. I had them on 8 track. She is beautiful
I had a factory 8 track in my 76 Pontiac Grand Le Man's. There was lots of great time growing up in the 70s.

And that is what is sorely lacking on the music of today, barely understandable, shallow lyrics drowned out by the over excessive beats and bass.
Beautiful
Timelessness nothing more said
I totally agree 100%. Marilyn McCoo is so underrated. She has the voice of angel 😇.
I can definitely feel the soul in her voice.
There never has been a classier woman in pop music than Marilyn McCoo. This song has been over shadowed by the 5th's other hits, but it's one of my favorites.
Noodleydoo
I agree with you !
Its a hidden gem. Not even sure it was released as a single in the UK, so it feels like a private pleasure. What a performance here.
Marilyn was technically too good for the 5th and pop music in general. If she was born 30 years earlier she would have been an American Standard immortal.
@@ohger1 I am a big fan of the group and think they were all extremely talented, especially Bill Davis.

This song stops me in my tracks every time. Such a compelling story and Marilyn's performance is stunning!
Beings back memories of not so good love affairs
Brings back
Love's for keeps, Love's lettin' go !!! Love goes on...Forever !!!🙏❤️❤️❤️😇🙏👍
Wow very amazing song the best
Wow, Marilyn is timeless. And this beautiful song is eternal.

Perfectly said
A long forgotten top 10 hit. 5 stars
The audience remembered it

Speechless. This is the pinnacle of popular music.

Very well said 73 now been a fan since 1968 up up and away the great Jimmy Webb
That is a great observation. I just came from seeing her and Billy in concert. She’s 78 and he’s 83 and they have barely aged. What a beautiful couple.
One word. Beautiful!
Raw talent, no smoke and mirrors, she is one of the best USA has. Few are close even 5o years later.

My God. Gorgeous. What a beautiful woman and what a beautiful voice!! Love her.
I've been in love with Marilyn since 1967.

This song still moves me.
I am 72 and have loved her since first discovering The Fifth Dimension in the late 60’s. Beautiful then and the same all these years on
This is my favorite song by The 5th Dimension. It took me forever to find it,and now I did. She is a beautiful singer, but why is she so underrated?
I prefer her to Whitney, Beyonce and Diana. She is so "down to earth".
Thank you and Blessings from Canada 🇨🇦 🙏 ❤
I prefer her because she says; People that pray together, stay together....
She's much better than Beyonce that's for sure
Two years later,I still think the same. Love and Prayers from Canada 🇨🇦❤️🇺🇸🙏🌹

She's one of the best singers ever
The woman is a goddess...end of story.
This song never got the accolades or play most of the other 5th Dimension songs put out but to me this was the best.
This takes me back.
Her voice is nothing short of spectacular…
A Beautiful masterful voice, I never get tired of hearing it.

If Ron Townsend was still alive the 5 of them together again would be a super hit. The time is right for good music and groups now.
My favorite singer of ALL time!
Beautiful song sung by a beautiful lady.
Yes and yes !
Buetiful lady , buetiful song
Great song from a top notch performing group. Growing up they were and still the best
One of the most talented voices ever. Today’s talent hardly compares. I love her.
What a great song , by a wonderful singer. She is a top female vocalist of All Time. Someone told me Elvis Presley was going to sing this song, Supposedly , he said " This song is perfect, I'm not messing with that one".
Has to be one of the most beautiful songs ever written and a magical vocal performance by Marilyn McCoo.
So sad and beautiful song.
love her madly
