- Marilyn performs "I Dreamed a Dream" from Les Misérables. This clip is from a live concert special for PBS' SRO series. A HUGE THANK YOU to Jerry in Brooklyn for sending this McCoo-fan a copy. It's so great to hear Marilyn's full-voiced range and color behind songs like this one. Hope all you McCoo fans enjoy it... Hope to get a few more of these posted soon.
I've been listening to Marilyn McCoo, forever {it seems}, and I love different voices, of all sorts of genres. I honestly believe she could sing anything as good or better than any other singer in history. This lady can just flat out own any song she wants.
Bill Davis, you struck it rich with Marilyn..:)
Probably our greatest American singer of all time in my opinion! There's nothing this woman can't sing with as strong a voice as she had decades ago!!
+Bruce Baldwin I agree Bruce. What a gorgeous and talented woman.
So much beauty, class and talent. Its a pity Marilyn is not on TV in one way or another. Would love to see her in a movie or series. Maybe hosting her own show. I can only dream.
one of the best singers of any era
She's a great singer, and her beautiful face tells the story with such sensitivity; what a talent!
Marilyn McCoo has one of the best voices, she’s great. She can deliver a song and make it her own.
Oozing class, talent and beauty. I adore the woman.
Me too
So overlooked...One of America's greatest female vocalists.
One of my first crushes when I was a younger boy. Always loved the voice on this gorgeous lady.
i love this lady so gorgeous
She does this song better than anyone else! Beautiful, MMc.
What a sensational voice.....there are no limits to the type of music that Marilyn could Master!
Gorgeous lady, elegant and sophisticated. Brings tears to my eyes.
Fabulous and breathtaking !!! As a singer and trained both in Opera and pop.......... this performance is a blend! I want to pay to be trained by her at any price!! The song speaks to me on so many levels. I have an Autistic teen and sometimes need to cry! I have heard this about 10 times and each time it brings me to tears LOL a good thing !
Love love Marilyn. The best. She's as beautiful as her voice.
She has a voice of an angel.
Amazing performance by the always incredible Marilyn McCoo; a truly gifted vocalist.
I have always loved Marilyn McCoo !
Beautiful woman, beautiful voice
Wow ! Great performance by Marilyn !
I'm speechless...
one of the most beautiful and classiest women in american music. another stick-out performance for this great artist.
She is so very wonderful!
Marilyn is one class act whata pure voice
You, Are So RIGHT Here !!.Marilyn IS AND ALWAYS WILL BE AN AMAZING talent, no matter who tries to Stand tall....Love , PEACE & MORE Music ...
I could watch her sing all day and I could listen to her sing all week and never get bored. She is such a powerhouse I think she should get more recognition as one of the great vocalists of our time Glenn Augustyn
Marilyn has such a beautiful voice!
always magnificent!
Marilyn is an elegant singer with immense control and a wide range. She was better than so many of her contemporaries and deserevd much greater success as a solo artist.
Wow! this is amazing
One of the best version of this song. Really great!
Thank you. Never heard this before. What a wonder
Peerless. Flawless. She is theatrical perfection.
I watch this at least once a week and I am still in awe of this beautiful talented lady.
Wonderful, as usual for Marilyn McCoo; a beautiful, graceful, emotive performance. It was mostly faithful to the version from the stage show, and the changes were appropriate and not jarring.
Also, I notice that she did not audibly tank up on a big breath before that long climb on the word "shaaaaaaaaaaaame," unlike most singers. There are a few tricks to make a breath last all the way through a long phrase, and sound supported, but she sounded natural, strong and impressive. Great performance.
FABULOUS!!!❤❤❤
Don't know if everybody realises, but Marylin was over 60 years ol in this clip, is she absolutely gorgeous or what?
Always a class act, and what a voice!
Everything Marilyn sings is done with exceptional beauty, grace and quality. She is a true professional and amazing talent! Imagine if she had of walked out on BGT and delivered this.
She does a great job of it. I had never seen her sing such a theatrical number before.
I genuinely love this girl
Thank you for posting.
as a long time PBS fan, i can't believe i am just now seeing this performance. thank you for sharing - very much appreciated - from one M.McC fan to another.
Susan Broyle does a great job singing this song .. The difference with Marilyn is that she not only sings it she makes U FEEL it .. Thats what makes a GREAT performer & artist ..
It's Marilyn; impossible to not love it. :)
The world should see this performance! Nothing gets better!1
WOW! She blew me away! Fantastic!
What an awesome version..... I had a dream! of hearing Marilyn's amazing voice on a song like this . :D Lovely!!!!
Wow, what a nice surprise to find Marilyn singing such a great song...amazing!!
I think this was from the late 80's or early 90's. Marilyn was born in 1943...so she would have been in her mid to late 40's. NOW she's in her late 60's (and looks great!!)
Such a fantastic performance!
damn damn damn!!! she is still so beautiful!!!! and in voice
One of the few singers with the performance range to be able to actually sing the song.
Lovely Marilyn. Very well done.
well done also very pleasant on the eyes
Great show!!
A true treasure!
great version
@fergonuria, the same thing happened to me tonight. I've been basically listening to her all my life but today really discovered her. I'm going from video to video of her. She's so beautiful and her voice is from heaven. I can't get enough. This is one of my favorite parts of this song. What talent. 2:13.
Awesome!
I think I remember her singing this at some pageant .. Was done beautifully then too ...
I believe your correct at the end of your comment. but this is a showcase to show Marilyn's amazing vocal ability! I also don't believe He would have left when Autumn came if it was such a classy and beautiful lady as Marilyn Mccoo he spent his Summer with!
From Aquarius ….Fifth Dimension….she is absolutely fantastic
She A Beautiful Singer Ever
Enjoy? yes, I think you can safely say that and thanks to you and Jerry for those 4+ beautiful minutes of listening [pleasure.j
Love her
I Love her
Yes!
Impressive
Greatness
GRAN INTERPRETACIÓN
Yeaa. Thank you. I wonder what year this was?
OO this is amazing both Marilyn's And Susan Boyle's version too
DAMN!
Marilyn can out sing anyone!
marilyn does a great job on "warrior for the lord" and I notice it hasn't had but only a few hundreds views....so check it out as well everyone!
this is a recording sent to me, courtesy of another UA-cam'r who likes Marilyn McCoo. I don't know of any other broadcasts of Marilyn singing this song, but she must have had it in her act for a number of years... do you have any recordings of MM to post?
@celticdollface Hi there. Sorry but this is incorrect. I have this concert...it was from around 1990/91....so that would put Ms. Marilyn in her late 40s in this clip.
Oh Billy was or wearer is a lucky dude. Married to a gorgeous lady that can sing the phone book and make it sound good.
Whether
Easier on the eyes and ears than that Scottish girl.
@kcphonics Maybe, but Marilyn can sing anything wonderfully. Ruthie could never!
do anyone know what vocal range she is? im thinking atlo or mezzo
Marilyn had a three-octave range in her prime--so she's floating around from alto to soprano. Had you heard her live back then, you'd have been amazed at how beautiful her voice was.
Interesting, the first time I heard this song was when Marilyn hosted Solid Gold. That version was better because she didn't rush it like she seemed to do this version. Anyway I have always been a big fan.
No one out sings Marilyn, including Susan Boyle!
Way to low a register to give this song any impact. But, it's Marilyn McCoo and she can do no wrong. Brava!
marilyn sang "saving all my love for you" years before Whitney did, interesting to note.....marilyns version sounded more like doris day.
What year?
she' pretty well retired. She sang with the 5th Dimention in the 60's and on Solid Gold in the 80's. She can sing anything better than anyone in my opinion! On Solid Gold she sang all the hits of the day and ussually better than the original artist.
A SECRET so sneaky for Susan Boyle uses to make us cry. Just watch 140 Tubarc - Susan Boyle Secret Code for Weeping. Give me a feedback if you were smart enough to get it . . ..
Beautifully done. I hate the musical arrangement. It was so weak and wimpy. Marilyn's voice could have stood up to a stronger arrangement with no problem.
Friend2FriendnMA I agree. The syncopated piano spoiled the music....
susan boyle
ruthie henshall FTW
This puts Susan Boyle to shame - just my opinion. SUSAN WHO?!?! (Sammy Davis' version of this on the 1989 MDA Telethon is the only one that is on par / surpasses this.)
randy graff
Marilyn is too skinny here. She has great jazz hands.
gayzertube...ICAM.
God, that piano made it sound like a number from Cabaret. I was expecting the kit kat girls to come out screaming any moment. Awful.
Am I the only one that thinks this version kind of...misses the point. This is a really interesting beat, but its way too animated for the mood of the song. In any case, she has a great voice and the last 10 seconds were perfect.
ruthie henshall does this better
She did a good job on the song. Not great but good. One problem I have is not with her voice but with her outfit. Singing the song from Les Mis of a woman out in the world before turning to prostitution and death, done in sequins and stiletto's? NO! Takes so much away, Also, percussion was much to loud. Had it been played simply, it could have been so much more effectively. She has voice for it, but too fact and too loud a percussion and outift to die for, literally. Too bad.
