- It's Ford vs Ferrari vs Mazda vs Nissan at the 1990 IMSA GTO event at Mid-Ohio, and in GTU, it's Dodge and Nissan and Mazda and more for the 250km race around one of sports car's most popular stops on the calendar. The rare appearance of the 600hp Ferrari France F40 is a special treat all by itself.
WHY IS THIS CLASS SO FORGOTTEN ABOUT?? THIS SERIES BROUGHT SOME OF THE MOST AMAZING CARS TO ONE RACE, I LOVE IT.
People just don’t know. Heck an IMSA 300zx did well at Le Mans vs group C cars.
@@andyeighttre Damn it did perform excellent. In the 1994 24 Hours Of Le Mans the Nissan 300ZX made 5th place and was the ninth fastest qualifier! That's very impressive considering it's competition.

Agreed great cars. Interesting The next year The MAZDA 787B 4 rotor would win Le-Mans When do you see a Ferrari F-40 Racing. Whenever I see the Nissan Color Racing Z I think of Paul Newman

Man I’m glad this was posted. I’m here to see that F40 LM get slapped around the track. It sucks that this car was used very little because it had lots of potential.

The cars and the commercials are so nostalgic. Great example of how things have changed so much. Kinda similar to how people try to compare Lebron to Jordan in the NBA. You can't, the rules, training, vitamins and nutrients for health and focus, all that stuff was way different than compared to today. So amazing to see how much things cost as well back then. Shows how much more limits we dealt with and the lack of safety compared to today as well. Love the F40 but it doesn't compare to today's Ferrari's ;).

The war on drugs was an unmitigated disaster but at least it gave us ridiculously funny ads like that

@@cinellixait isn't quite the same though, the stakes aren't as high and all those cars are historic (unless it's like a replica event) so people don't push them as hard as they did back then.
Holy crap I was at this race! Watched it with my Dad and his friend, I was five.
I was there, and when the F40 made the pass on the Nissan, it looked like it came from a mile back. I was watching from the side of the back straight. What a incredible move. Jean-Pierre Jabouille was awesome, and a great guy to meet. This was the only F40 to run Mid-Ohio. Thanks Marshall, my childhood returned.

Cory90 No, Nissan used turbos on their 300ZX too. They said it was the most powerful car in the field. Probably some of the other V6 cars used turbos too. Audi just dominated with quattro.
nevermind it was the fact that the Audi was AWD while i believe every other car was RWD

awd vs rwd comes down to an unfair advantage with the ability to put power down more effectually. Thats is why the car was banned. If it was rwd like the rest it wouldn't have dominated like it did

American made car drivers have always been sore loosers ,almost only imports were winning at the time ,they don't like it..(they hated the Audi quattro era) and that F4O GT team did a great race for a first one on this track.
