This game infuriates me to no end. So close to being perfect, but the physics leave so much to be desired. The fact that it won't simulate a complete turning moment (the cars are always sliding), so you *always* hit the wall; and yet the AI is not affected by wall hits anywhere nearly as badly as it affects the player. It's a shame because the game is so addictive.
I have the exact same feelings about this series. I really love the entire setting, car list, tuning options etc., but I seriously can't stand the AI that cheats the entire time, to the point that you have to challenge them countless times in order to finally win. This game would be a masterpiece if the AI wasn't that unfair and annoying. I can even deal with the handling, which is not that bad in my opinion (if you pay enough attention to the tuning) but the AI is extremely frustrating sometimes. Yet, I have to give it to this game that it is indeed very addictive.
@@FrankUnderwoood The AI has to be this way in this game because the player would destroy them if they were left to their own devices. Just look at Tokyo Extreme Racer Zero, with better physics, and more "fair" AI... Almost every race ended with the AI simply crashing out and handing me a free win. Almost every race in that game, which could have been otherwise challenging or interesting, ended with an AI malfunction. Even the toughest racers in the game, like Speed King and Ice Man, just race them 2 or 3 times, with any reasonably fast car, and they will hand you an easy victory in a completely anti-climatic way.
I found the races in these early games to be an almost universally fair challenge. With no catch-up AI, the advantages and disadvantages the player has to deal with vs the AI are apparent and exploitable. Just tune your car for the road you're on, and even if you can't make the corner in your car (which there are some cars that can corner btw), it won't matter if you've tuned your car to account for this.
Thee is no catch-up AI in this game. Therefore it is a good racing game.

Hahah, excellent x) Awesome seeing some TXR2 playthroughs, this game was one the first game that got me into loving cars, especially the Dreamcast Demo version. Loved the vid!

God, that FD in the intro is sex. But did they straight up rip Video Option footage? Some of it was from the Wangan documentary that's on the disk for Zero, but there were some clips that weren't.
one the best games racing that developed Sega with Dreamcast in quality in shining graphics suprassing some game races.
You can compare this game to TXR Zero on Ps2 and have a tough time deciding which one looks better.
I own the Japanese version of this game (Shutokou Battle 2), and it is a challenge.

In the Japanese version, you customize Japanese plates and not California plates.

HGCentral I just bought TXR3, never played it before or anything But I'm curious because I keep seeing people mention something about the game was quote on quote "unfinished" or something, and to beat it you need to cheat/codes. Is there a bug or certain issue in TXR3 I'm unaware about?
