Sara, “The Clear Quran” by Dr. Mustafa Khattab is an easy translation! Each Surah is also broken down to subsections on the different themes within the Surah. It’s been the easiest one for me to follow :)

I think the discussion about disrespect towards Islam was very interesting. I personally don't believe any religion can be disrespected because they are just an abstract set of ideas. People can be disrespected. There is a difference between Islam, which is a religion and Muslims who are the people who follow Islam. Even if someone says something you don't like about a religion you follow it shouldn't matter because you believe that it is true. For example, if you believe the sky is blue and someone laughs at you and says it is red, would you answer them? No, you would not because you are sure they are incorrect and it is not worth your time. This is why I believe currently it is some Muslims who get upset when someone says something about Islam they do not like and members of other older faiths such as Judaism and Christianity are relatively silent. If you look back on the history of those religions they also had periods of time where they reacted aggressively to what was perceived as insults. Over time, people became less sensitive. Just my 2 cents.

Same. I kind of differed with sara towards the ending. More so bc they have a platform and listeners. The idea that you can only take so much until you don't, just isn't it for today's world. You have to put a deaf ear and move on. Otherwise these kinds of thought can also become the reasoning behind so many instances of extremism (of any sort, not just violent), if the perpetrator feels so passionate about something which others do not care for or could even have dismissed at some point, that he feels he has to resort to extremism to guard his thoughts and beliefs. It can apply to any belief under the sun, not just religious.

The translation by MAS Abdel Haleem is really good! Super clear to read and in more of a narrative fashion so it's easy to follow.
