I just recently discovered this extraordinary artist. I think I came across a blog post about him and his wife, Wendy, while I was researching artwork on the fae and down a rabbit hole I go. Good Fairies, Bad Fairies was the first book I bought. Lady Cottington’s Pressed Fairy Book next. Now I’m waiting on Goblins to arrive in the mail. His work is such an inspiration.
Ah, yes - Faeries by Brian Froud and Alan Lee. It was this book and one other one that changed the course of my life and started me on my path of life-long interest in everything to do with the good people. Sure there are lots of things that I'm interested in, but my one basic, true interest is fairies. Thanks for the brilliant review, Kate!
That made me chuckle, yes there was snoring, this wasnt a person but my little dog who tends to fall asleep at my feet when I am on the computer. I am sure in the future she will make an appearance on here :)
@@kateharegirlray I had deleted the post where I mentioned hearing snoring in the background. I decided to delete it because I love your book review and I didn't want to give the impression that somebody would think it was so boring that they would fall asleep and start snoring - ha, ha
As an amendment to this review, the first publication of this book was in 1977 and the date of publication i stated was that of the first reprinted copy

Fantastic book, The definitive CLASSIC on all things Faerie.
I also STRONGLY recommend Brian Froud's ''World Of Faerie'' book.

I bought that book 25 years ago. I use to pour myself over it.
I’ve heard in the back of the book are photos of an expedition to Ireland and in the trees are small humanoid creatures, is this true?
