Dramatic to say, but you have to imagine that their careers were leading up to such a day in no small way, and the inspiration that gave us such incredible music would have likely gone to waste, or lived forever as a half-written tune in the artist's mind and hands, without all the hard work and practice they put in up to that point.

    When it comes to the Talk-Box, Peter Frampton is the king of using the device. Not only is he the originator, Frampton used it through out many of his songs like “Show Me The Way” and of course “Do You Feel Like We Do?” which appeared on Frampton Comes Alive!

  • @Gulicktheemu
    @Gulicktheemu 4 роки тому +32

    The “Tube”, aka talk box is a very elegant, low tech effect and Frampton owned that effect. Nobody could use it better than he did.
    A speaker is tightly sealed to a box and the only outlet for the sound is through the tube. The performer has a foot pedal that can switch the sound output between the normal amplifier or the talk box. The person then alters the sound from the instrument by the shape of their mouth, including ‘talking’ without using the vocal cords but the instrument sound coming from the tube.
    Frampton did not invent it but he was a virtuoso in its use.

    Back in the day Peter Frampton’s “Frampton Comes Alive” album was the top selling album and was considered the best live album ever produced for decades.

      Same with shows like Bandstand. But you could tell the talent back then. You have to realize that shows like that was before MTV. That's why most of the videos from the 70s and early 80s were basically performance based. By the time MTV got launched, it became more like mini movies. Look at Billie Jean and Thriller, Duran Duran, Madonna and many artists from that era.
