U2 was such a powerhouse in the 80’s and 90’s. I love listening to their sound. It’s alright, it’s alright, it’s alright…. I move in mysterious ways. To touch is to heal To hurt is to steal If you want to kiss the sky better learn how to kneel, on your knees boy!
Honestly, I will forever live the Joshua tree sound, but the way he made this guitar sound in here: I would have LOVE to hear him continue in this! This is from another realm.
The 1990s belonged to U2 - this album and the subsequent tour took music into a new post-80s era. It's hard to describe how fresh and new this "sound" was at the time.
Ten (Pearl Jam), Smells Like Teen Spirit (Nirvana) and Achtung Baby (U2) signaled what was to come in 1992 and pretty much the rest of the 1990's. Man, I miss those days...
I grew up as a metal kid in the 90s but that album(Achtung baby) and this song in particular was played in my house all the time by the BF of my mom, he was a great guy with great tastes in music. If you’re a guy, and you don’t feel U2’s music in your head, your heart and your balls...you might be dead. U2 were the biggest band in the world at the point Achtung Baby came out. They could have released another Joshua Tree, or a hybrid of JT, Unforgettable Fire and R&H, and it would have sold MILLIONS. But they took a chance. They reinvented themselves. They branches out, and took risks. That takes major cajones. That’s the sign of a great band not content to sit on their asses. The Beatles had that quality. Queen had it, too. U2 is a worthy successor. Now who will pick up that torch and run with it?

The word "mysterious" looms large for me - simply because I love music that has an air of mystery, of mysticism, drama, epic-sounding. almost a quasi-spiritual feel. U2 has that in abundance, you hear it in many of their songs. Led Zeppelin had that in a huge way in "Kashmir", for example. Alanis Morrisette had it with "Uninvited", Beck had it with "Wave", John Lennon with "Number 9 Dream", even Adam Lambert's rework of "Ring Of Fire". But U2 is probably the most prolific in that regard, with several songs that strongly evoke all of those elements. Even quieter stuff like "All I Want Is You", and "One", have strong elements of these characteristics. I don't know how they do it - but I'm really glad they do it.

Amazing what Sednaoui pulled off with some mylar sheets, a film camera, and a great editor. I remember back when pure talent was all that mattered. Just love how the last shot holds on Bono singing as the distortion gets more chaotic with the bongos.
" If you wanna kiss the sky better learn how to kneel" - pray - All those who go down to the dust will bow before Him, Even he who cannot keep his soul alive. Psalm 22:29
I remember how much of a hit this song was back in the early 1990s - its what made U2 so great. They were able to adapt themselves to the 1990s without compromising their unique character and sound. Didn't get swept away by all the wind stirred up by grunge, etc. Unfortunately, that was not the case with another great band - INXS.
The video was shot over two days in Morocco in October 1991. Exact dates have not been identified. The area used for shooting much of the city footage is in and around the Tanners Quarter or Suuq Dabbaghin.
I'll never forget seeing them play this live a few years back. Will Sasso walked up to me, tears running down his face, and handed me a bottle of Tremana for World People's Day.
I remember when I was three or four I was swinging on my swing set singing this song. It's funny how so much can change in your life, including your personality, but music never changes, only its interpretation changes.
U2 is my oldest love in music. Bono's voice, Edge's great sound and guitar playing and the solid and original spine of the band with Larry and Adam who are always forgotten... Just one of the best bands still active that never changed a band member and that was never afraid to take chances. I would love your input on our cover of U2's Ordinary Love. Maybe we succeeded, maybe not, we let you be the judge if you have two or three minutes to spare and a thumb up or down to add, come listen and judge us here :-) : ua-cam.com/video/yiUkR6YUNgU/v-deo.html
I enjoy so few U2 songs. This is a brilliant exception. All their music is very rudimentary, even the Edge's playing on this song. They never developed as musicians, just changed producers, and rode Bono's abundant charisma. Whatever works, right? But not for me.
As if I'd change anyone's mind about "Mysterious Ways"! I've been reading Bono's memoir and he talks about this song. I'm enjoying the book so far and recommend it to anyone who is a U2 fan.
I didn't like it back then. MTV played the shit out it. so did the radio. I just couldn't get away from it. years later I find myself crawling back to it.
Song is really about religion. Or more specifically belief in God which does not always tie into religion. It's about belief in something (a higher power) that you will never understand. Humans don't have the capacity to understand anything more about a higher power other than there is a higher power. It has a deep meaning about how strong beliefs in something (even something you don't fully understand) have helped people through very tough times in their life. It gives them strength.
From an interview, my understanding is that this song was inspired by his mother. She died and his father refused to talk about her. He did not grieve. It was as if his mother never existed. So, Bono could not really grieve either and was not allowed to say anything about his mother. The song talks about a woman catching the man when he falls, how she sees the man inside the child. To me it is also about love. When I first heard it I thought it was about romantic love, and some people will see it that way. I thought that I would like to be a strong woman like that who saves her man, instead of the other way around. 30 years later I find it was his way of processing her death and finally being able to talk about her, but in a song.
Bono has an amazing voice, to edge's guitar work on this track.. very wow! One of the albums that got me hooked on U2( other than my one friend whos huge on them).
+Jimmy Hendrix Duuude, awesome songs never get old or go out of style or become meaningless/irrelevant/un-relatable. The same musical genius and/or wise lyrics speak to generation after generation without skipping a beat! :)
This song reminds me of my trip to Lincoln, NE in October of 2013. I must've heard this song 10+ times in the local bars. Good memories. And no, that wasn't the first I've known of this song. I was born in '88. It goes waaaaay back.
I remember hearing this towards the end of 91. Best U2 track in my opinion. The belly dancer is hypnotic. Reminds me of visiting Morocco. I will return
Always my favorite U2 song. I love it because it reminds me of the joy and optimism I used to feel when I was younger and I believed that Love would & could heal anything.
It's designed to. These men worship lucifer. They are helping lucifer to try to claim your soul. If you want to know if it's working, ask yourself how well do you know Jesus in person because you are able to meet Him in Spirit at the Mercy Seat. I'm not trying to sound like an arrogant person; I just want to encourage you to know Jesus died so that you could have His eternal life, yet the enemy blinds us to this. We all must seperate ourselves feom worldly things to see better. It's most definitely worth it.
Do not lose faith, children. This music will come back in time. Time is hills and valleys, ups and downs. What comes around goes around. Keep the faith...the poo that is passing for most music now will fade away one day and real artists writing lyrics that make you cry and guitar riffs that bring you to your knees, drummers that make your heart beat along with them, and singers that take you out into the universe will come back.
My estranged but loved brother and I used to blast this in the car and sing along. I miss him.. hopefully 🙏 I’ll see him again soon, this song is incredible ❤️🎶🎸🎙
I usually don't like softer rock bands, but *U2* manages to bring a vaguely *garage band* feel to most of what I have seen from them.... Not to mention that *The Edge* is a top-drawer guitarist!!
Ahh, I remember my college days and my band *Blak Lyt....* *Yes, that was most of our setup on stage, *black lights, white sheets over everything, and a smoke machine + Huge Fan.* I spent almost as much of my time trying to find an interesting guitar sound, *which he definitely has,* as I spent studying!!
For me following U2 since Boy and attending all their tours I can tell you my(Opinion) of the U2 catalog: 1980’s-Boy to Rattle and Hum LOVED ALL OF IT!!! 1990’s-Achtung Baby album and Tour BEST EVER!!! the rest of the 90’s sorry no! 2000’s: All that you can’t leave behind and How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb. The 2010’s to 2024: Songs of Innocence, Songs of Experience (Plus 2017 30 year tour of the Joshua Tree album in its entirety) and Songs of Surrender.

No matter if you're a fan or not, this song absolutely kills it every time! Play it at a club or party today and people are dancing....guaranteed.
I fuckin’ hate U2 but this song absolutely JAMS!
And
i've heard some good remixes too
@@mcoon1987 Go easy there Tex!
Great song from a great album.
Dave from Canada
One of my favorite take care brother my mom has been gone for 5 yrs and I miss her every day. God speed 🙏
The greatest use of guitar pedals ever. The Edge clearly used them to the best effect. A classic in every sense!
Clearly you've never heard of Tom Morello...
@@mantism.d.8363 He's awesome but I still prefer this over "Killing in the Name" or "Guerilla Radio". Everyone has their preferences and tastes. 😉
Guitar>Envelope Filter/Auto Wah>Tube Screamer/OD>Delay.
So simple, but so impacting.
Check out 'It Might Get Loud', the documentary Jack White did with The Edge and Jimmy Page. It goes through his meticulous use of guitar effects.
@@MrMooogly Great Doc!
In my opinion, the BEST song that U2 ever did!!
Classic..No More No Less!..It's Alright,It's Alright Allll Riiight!!!
" If you wanna kiss the sky better learn how to kneel" - pray - All those who go down to the dust will bow before Him, Even he who cannot keep his soul alive. Psalm 22:29
U2 at this time was untouchable.
!!💓Edge!!
Joshua Tree is their masterpiece
Unstoppable.
Acthtung baby was their masterpiece
@@georgiasmith64 yes! That riff is the whole reason I came looking for this song! And now I want to go watch it's going to get loud.
I love Adam's bassline!!!! A few notes played in loop, a pause in between... and a wonderful outcome!!!
@2.07 I don't know why but I've always liked th expression on the woman's face
1/1/1992 Remember it here in the states.
Great Lyric--"If you want to kiss the sky--better learn how to kneel"
I'll never forget seeing them play this live a few years back. Will Sasso walked up to me, tears running down his face, and handed me a bottle of Tremana for World People's Day.
If you wanna kiss the sky better learn how too kneel on your knees boy best line 2:38 love u2
Music moves in mysterious ways. Much love to you. It's alright.
I remember when I was three or four I was swinging on my swing set singing this song. It's funny how so much can change in your life, including your personality, but music never changes, only its interpretation changes.
This is one of the rare times you can say a great song was married to a great video.
Definitely this album it’s the Sgt Pepper’s of U2! A masterpiece, no matter when you read this!!!
They have like 10 signature songs that are equal masterpieces.
This song isn’t all right it’s brilliant a masterpiece
Every song U2 makes is gold. Change my mind!
Nobody can!!!
I enjoy so few U2 songs. This is a brilliant exception. All their music is very rudimentary, even the Edge's playing on this song. They never developed as musicians, just changed producers, and rode Bono's abundant charisma. Whatever works, right? But not for me.
I can’t !!
This was very overplayed when it was released. Only 'Pride in the Name of Love' probably gets played more
It's alright. moves in mysterous ways.
Same thing happened to me with Tom Petty Free Falling. Love it now. Then I would scream when I heard it. And not in a good way😁
Lol the longer you don't hear a song the more you love it when you hear it again years later
I fell in love with bass the day I heard this song for the first time. The bass line in this song is just amazing.
cool..
TheMimilija Yeah it is...
TheMimilija qa
TheMimilija YES! ME TOO! THE EDGE KILLS IT ALSO WITH HIS AWESOME BEATS 😎
Love this song one of the best
30 years later I find it was his way of processing her death and finally being able to talk about her, but in a song.
the bass in this song is amazing. love it LOUD.
Probably U2's best song ever! It's alright, alright, alright!
and Bullet the Blue Sky
and Running to Stand Still
in God's country from the Joshua Tree
Cinema
With or Without You. I actually tried to sing that at karaoke once. That's when I realized the range that Bono has...lol. Didn't go so good for me.
I can't believe this song only has 21mil views!! It's my favorite U2 song!! On your knees boy!😘🤩💞
Bono has an amazing voice, to edge's guitar work on this track.. very wow! One of the albums that got me hooked on U2( other than my one friend whos huge on them).
How does this only have 12 million views!?! Sad...
Old song...young people :(
Pulse2AM It 15.000.000 by now 😘😗😙😚
Because it was released in 1992, and youtube wasn't a thing until the mid to late 2000s, come on man, common sense.
The bass guitarist makes this song what it is.
this song is 25 years old? Holy crap. Still an awesome song though
+Jimmy Hendrix Duuude, awesome songs never get old or go out of style or become meaningless/irrelevant/un-relatable. The same musical genius and/or wise lyrics speak to generation after generation without skipping a beat! :)
+Ani C True and this is why most of the shit bring produced these days is forgotten in a few months while amazing songs like this are still played.
What? That means I'm 106.
no
Whaaaa!!! 52!!!
This song is U2’s absolute peak. The best song they ever made.
These are the...Rock Mysterious Ways of U2!! Generally, awesome pop/alternative rock band with many big anytime hits!...
My favourite U2 song of all time ❤️❤️❤️
This song reminds me of my trip to Lincoln, NE in October of 2013.
Edge married the belly dancer.
The guitar sounds are so amazing on this
M A S T E R P I E C E ❤
A song of such serious class with fantastic lyrics, wonderful production and another brilliant Bono lead vocal.
Baby had something I needed 💙she told me if I wanna kiss the sky I gotta learn how to kneel 💙
2021 still 💯% U2 Awesomeness!
Play it LOUD! 🔊🎶
"Move my spirit teach me..
To move with it, She moves with it
Lift my days, light up my nights"🌙💃
"On your knees boy".......Does anyone doubt more is inevitable? Arguably the best band ever It's genius.
Unprecedented and unparalleled, arguably among U2`s finest.
One of the rare songs where the verse is better than the chorus. Just beautiful.
And I thought I was the only one that thought that.
THIS WAS LIKE THE 4TH SONG FROM THAT ALBUM -
CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?!?!?!?!?
Always my favorite U2 song. I love it because it reminds me of the joy and optimism I used to feel when I was younger and I believed that Love would & could heal anything.
All these years later...and still my favorite U2 song...just makes you Joyful
GUITAR
Mine to.
"If you wanna kiss the Sky, better learn how to kneel, boys, on your knees. She's the way..."
the second best single from the best album ever
What is the best single?
@@heavnnnsent The first single from AB was The fly so MW was the second
ever feeling in the dumps, just tell yourself, "it's alright!" and listen to this song. spirits lifted.
+Sean Gallagher yeah :)
if only it could be that easy
Lift my days, light up my nights!
You bet man!
whatever
This song never gets old and gets stuck in my head for days
Got stuck in my head for years…
It's designed to.
Never gets old
❤❤❤❤❤❤ THIS from the 1st 3 SECONDS, GREAT AND UNIQUE SONG😅😅😅
Heard it on T.V over night git stuck now cnt get uf out of my head so down loaded it now
U2 is such an awesome band. I can say it's my favorite.
Brilliant 90's style song. Achtung baby is by far their best album
Their best song.
It's not even close.
Ahh, I remember my college days and my band *Blak Lyt....*
*Yes, that was most of our setup on stage, *black lights, white sheets over everything, and a smoke machine + Huge Fan.* I spent almost as much of my time trying to find an interesting guitar sound, *which he definitely has,* as I spent studying!!
One of the best songs of U2.I love the guitar tone of the song
Yeeeees!!!
Loving all things Bono thank you for the beautiful music 🙏❤️
My very favorite U2 song! Thanks for uploading it.
The 2010’s to 2024: Songs of Innocence, Songs of Experience (Plus 2017 30 year tour of the Joshua Tree album in its entirety) and Songs of Surrender.
the bass in this song is amazing. love it LOUD.
