I agree with you being worried. Some songs are awesome (Phalanx, the title track, Damocles), the rest is a bunch of songs that wouldn't have been good enough for Shogun, Ascendancy or any of the last two albums. Many of the riffs, the song structure,... Just my opinion...

The drums compliment the intro riff so well. Alex really adds so much to the band.

Very much agreed. I discovered Trivium when Ascendancy came out, so I will always miss Travis to a certain degree; but Alex is a beast behind that kit. His skills are unparalleled; and he always serves the song first. This new album is a true metal monster, well done boys!

I think this is my favorite Trivium album yet...it's just...so good. It has so many great aspects from previous sounds and albums...This album is the result of trying so many different sounds over many years...Being whoever they wanted as a band...and look at what they give us!! I just can't wait for more honestly...hahahaha
Each of the three recent trivium albums is characterized by being a melting pot of their predecessors, but indeed I think this one is the most homogenous and successful effort they've made. The progressiveness and melodies of Shogun and Crusade is there, the riffage and hooks of Ascendancy and In Waves is there, the mix is amazing, detailed and crisp. Indeed, for me, this surpassed Shogun.
Yes. Glad im not the only one who thinks this is the best work they've ever done. To me it blows Shogun out of the water
@@garrettmaynard2666 Yeah I hesitate to put it above Shogun and Ascendancy because there true classics that have stood the test of time... however I had the feeling on my 2nd and 3rd playthrough thinking this may just be there best album. It's definetly a contender
@@nemesis8626 yeah true that man. Ascendancy is still a top notch album in today's time. Always liked it better than Shogun also. Really each album has its own amazing feel to it. One album may sound better than other to one person but if your a trivium fan ya can't deny this is at least a top 3 album for them
@@garrettmaynard2666 Completely right man, Ascendancy every song is a banger it had that raw aggression of Ember but the added melody's. Ascendancy was the first album that got me into the band and shortly after I went to an exclusive gig that was so small you had to win tickets from a radio station an got free beers merch and a band meet with a short 5 song set for Radio 1 Rock show. Good Times. Honestly though I like every album in its own way but ITCOTD I strongly just wanna mosh hard too my favourite song is Crisis of Revelations SO GOOD
Trivium's guys put on this album their death metal influence, and they did it very well

Yeah, these boys gotta make room for other bands! Or maybe the other bands better start working even harder to try and match Trivium. Honestly…I’d rather the other bands try to catch up with our boys.
But if you want a real good band, give Aether Realm a try. They are a melodic death metal band and they have plenty of nice riffs and stuff. Try The Magician.

Man, this whole album feels like the ultimate Trivium experience. Every single album they've released has felt like they've perfected their sound, but the next album takes it to another level. But this one.... I don't know how they'll top this. It's got the best sound from every album from Ascendancy to What the Dead Men Say, and just does everything right. Blown away. 🤘

I actually wasn’t a fan of what the dead men say but I love this album.
That whole section of 2:55 to 3:15 gave me fucking GOOSEBUMPS!!!! THIS album is the perfect example of why I feel in love with this band in the first place!!!

Ok am I the only who thinks they did such an amazing job. Like this is what I was expecting with “what the dead men say” and that’s still a good album but they out did themselves with this one. Great job guys🔥🔥🔥🔥

Ever since shogun came out, it's was my favorite album from trivium. For a while, it felt like they wouldn't top it. And I loved all 5 of the following released. Silence, vengeance, waves, and sin are all amazing metal albums in their own right. In fact, they came close with dead men. That became my close 2nd.
I was like, if they keep doing this, (referring to what they did on WTDMS) I'll be happy. But they didn't do that. They did something a step beyond. This is one of the greatest fucking albums ever. It has all of the best elements of trivium taken to their natural extreme. They went full shogun, with the finesse and tightness of WTDMS. there's sprinkles sprinkles the melodic epiness of silence, the groovy catching of vengeance, the unrelenting rage of ember, the thrash riffing of crusade, the avant gardness of in waves, the in your face-ness of sin, and of course the straight to the pointless of ascendancy. It's all there. Trivium have left nothing behind in their triumphant March forward, but all of their quintessential elements have been fine tuned and turned up to 11.
Alex definitely the best drummer they had sounds so clean I heard he did the whole sin and the sentence album in one take shows what talent he has Trivium so lucky to find him when he could fit in virtually every metal band I'm happy with ffdp replacement for Jeremy but he would have been an amazing fit there

Trivium has gotta be the most consistent metal band in recent memory - continuously growing but also one-upping the previous 10/10 records IMO. Fucking Matt, dudes relearned to do harsh vox like 3 times, AND HE KEEPS GETTING BETTER SOMEHOW. Alex is redic in the pocket on this record. IMO the best metal band in the last 20, 30 years

The album is killer, musically I love it.....lyrically though I feel the choruses are a bit too repetitive. I don't know why the same thing is said over and over again when more effort could be put in. That's my only downside to this album. Not every song has it but there's a couple where I feel the chorus lyrics held the song back. My opinion though....some may agree and some may not.
Definitely dont agree. Not exactly sure what you expect from them at this point. They've literally hit every single base!

@@vernonsalisbury5276 what I mean is we're talking about a guy who writes amazing choruses so when I hear a song where the chorus is....." so we fall into your hands, so we fall into your hands, so we fall into your hands, so we fall into your hands" to me that's boring and I don't think much effort was put into it. I hate pop music because of how repetitive it is so when I hear repetitive choruses in metal naturally I hear something where minimal thought was put into it. Like I said musically this album is a beast and for the most part lyrically it's amazing. The 3 songs I felt let down by and ONLY in the CHORUS may I add were no way back just through ( which has grown on me) fall into your hands ( which is a great song musically and lyrically except the chorus ) and dawn to decadence ( again a great song but the chorus could of been more detailed. Bro I've been listening to trivium since they first came onto the scene so I know very well what Matt's capable of lyrically so repetitive choruses to me just don't do it for me. Like I said, that's my opinion and people will agree and disagree.
@@FrankC-L fall into your arms was the chorus that made me cringe the most. Which sucked because the whole song aside from the chorus is mind blowing. Killer album though aside from a few repetitive choruses, only 3 made me feel that way the rest of the choruses were 🔥

On the other side, there is In waves, which is a beast song, and there for some reason I don't mind that the verse only "iiiiiiiiin waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaves" over and over again :D But yeah, like you said, Fall into your hands should be a bit more creative in terms of lyrics
