Heard them play this song live at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago in August 1970. EVERYONE was on their feet stomping & cheering after they played. OMG! What a reaction! It was over-the-top! I think Savoy Brown may have peaked as a group about at that time. I never heard of them before that night. But they certainly made an indelible impression on me. Boy, were they good and the whole album that this song is on is good too!
Ahhhhh, The Aragon Ballroom! One of the worst venues for sound, but the best venue for the sound that happened there! …and those clouds on the ceiling? I swear they moved!!! 🙀
The sound on this video is very rich and full. Just the way it should be. Thanks. I bought this album when it came out. I was 13 and liked the cover. I never looked back.
I discovered Savoy in the last three years (48 now) and I have found that really nobody knows anything about them, yet they have so many great songs. You can dive for ages into their music portfolio and keep finding great songs.....and I do mean GREAT....total gems. There is a lot I don't like by them b/c I don't generally like standard blues arrangements but Savoy often transcends the rock/blues lines and has a way of dragging a rock-n-roller into their mix and making him or her love the blues/rock hybrid artistry. Sometimes I'm stupefied how they have been overlooked, but hey that's art, right? Talent does not equal recognition.
The new Band was known as Foghat after they reasssembled and started under that name. That may be a little more familar to you. I grew up listening to these guys. I love their music. I'm glad you get to experience their talent and Bluesy Sound. Enjoy!
Kim Simmonds is a very overlooked guitarist, and I can't figure out why. Maybe because he's beyond the head of most people. Just listen to this. Rock, blues and jazz comingled. As great as Hendrix at his height, perhaps better. So was Roy Buchanan, but that's another story...
Its not a competition! At least not among the players. Listeners love to say one is better than another. Doesn't mean a thing. Its all subjective Personally I never click on a Hendrix song, I listen to SB / Simmonds constantly. Just personal preference
Got this album when it came out. I was a sophomore in HS. I'm so impressed with my taste back then! Glad to see there are still people who enjoy this music.
One of my favourites by this band. I'm not a huge fan of Lonesome Dave's vocals. I was always a Chris Youlden fan. Loved his bluesy sound. But Kim Simmonds is so damn good on this album, that ......how can you not love it??
It always amazes me when I see these lists of all time great rock guitarists and the great Kim Simmonds is not mentioned.
Aaaaannndddd, one of my favorite album covers of all time.
Masterpiece album too.🎸
True

The year 🧩 discovered instrument blues, have loved them ever since. Part of my life!
Unsurpassed. Kim Simmonds - deserving of the highest praise.
Thank you, Kim. You will be missed. :(
been a savoy brown fan from waay back. KIM SIMMONDS is a very underated blues guy, but man, he can ROCK IT! dig all his stuff!
Fifty years on, and SB still soothes my soul.
I got to say, that kind of music reminds me Fleetwood mac in early years
yeah you can A/B it with something like Earl Grey which Mac put out the same year I believe and it flows good.
Yes but better more skill blues
Yeah, this cut does have shades of Peter Greene , Fleetwood Mac in it for sure 😊🎶🎵🎶🎵🎸
Sweet!! From one of the best albums EVER produced - song after song...
I agree !
Totally agree. My favorite in fact
Yes!
Simply Primo. Still a singular performance of melodic phrasing. I remember every lick.

The best way to hear Savoy Brown is Live. saw them @ the Fillmore East and the Capitol Theater in Portchester (5 encores that night)
This Song takes me back 50 years ago, when I used to listen to it over and over as a young kid learning guitar ! Time really goes by .
one of my favorite pieces (and performance), throughout the years. Thanks

O-K-A-Y ??? Give CRACK a try !
A very good guitar player, and i like Kim a lot,but to mention him in the same breath as Hendrix and Buchanan is going a bit overboard.

I couldn't agree more on all accounts.
Beautifully crafted guitar solo. Has a beginning, middle and an end.
