@@paulsmith9192 he changed his mind less than 12 hours later. Joel feels unworthy of taking Ellie any further, he comes around by dawn realizing this is his redemption for Sarah.
@Coda Boggs took me time to realize that.I thought he was leaving Ellie with tommy after the, fireflys. But,I just wish they showed more affection for each other. Like a father and daughter type.even in game, they hid their feelings
No, she didn't. Maybe of no fault of her own. Perhaps she was directed to do so in the manner that she did idk. However, I know that the game did that scene with more emotional and subtle nuances. I like this show quite a lot but it hasn't been flawless like people are implying
It was so nice to see Joel breakdown confessing how broken he is and how he has failed so much. It feels so real and genuine then you can't help but feel the emotion in ellie's frustration too. I think ellie's line in the game is so powerful that there was no way they wouldn't include it and the fear in her voice is spot on. Kudos to Ashley Johnson for adding the profanity to make it more impactful and emotional. It may seem so out of place from a writer's perspective but it makes it feel real because life isn't scripted and sometimes we say things that don't necessarily fit when were upset. Also though it wasn't mentioned but I can't help but feel joel's line about stealing a horse and riding away was poking fun back at the game because that's what ellie did. Obviously there were other easter eggs like the rabbits, bow and arrow, the deer hanging and the fence they went through to get to tommy's. There were so many references back to the game, its crazy.
I really wish I could have enjoyed this episode the way everyone else is. This is one of those properties that I love so much and want to love everything but I just really did not like this episode. Like intensely did not like it. And it really bums me out.
when they introduced ellie to shimmer.. why did i want to tear up LMFAO. i feel like the show is almost just all the unseen moments from the game in a way, possibly seeing dina(?) , ellie being introduced to shimmer 🥺
Graham Greene and Elaine Miles as Marlon and Florence were such a treat to watch, and a lovely way to open this episode! Though their scene was only so long, they speak volumes about Indigenous kinship and ways of living and do so with such chemistry. From Florence's offering of soup, to Marlon's "howaah," and "holeh," I found myself in an Aunties living room, catching her and Uncle exchanging knowing glances and snickers through my eyelashes. I like to think us Indigenous People would be thriving, similar to this in an apocalyptic world. In this scene, we see through Indigenous ways of life that we have been here long before, and we will be here long after. "Hide? Came here before you were born, sonny." Florence and Marlon's cabin in the woods, their traditional clothing, beaded earrings, hunting practices, laughter and softness and resilience; always here, through time immemorial. (also; it was v accurate of ellie to steal from them on their way out, and then claim, "they dont know anything." lol!) This felt like a breath of fresh air, as an Indigenous person myself, to just see good, accurate representation. And to see how easy it could be!!! It's crazy to think in this day and age I'm still crying over seeing people like me on screen lol
The Joel and Ellie confrontation is one of the moments that had to be done right. And I think they pulled it off. The scene is basically the same as the game, and the actors believably portray the proper emotions and dynamic that needed to be conveyed in this scene. And of course this scene was supported by the amazing handling of Joel and Ellie’s relationship throughout the show. Especially with Pedro’s beautiful monologue to Tommy earlier in the episode. Emotional action is such a good way of defining this episode. Also Marlon and Florence were amazing. Florence must be protected at all costs. That woman was great 😂
Yes, emotional action is a lot more interesting than physical action, and this episode was filled with emotional action, so glad Neil and Craig understand the best way to showcase these characters in this story!
I convinced my father to start watching this show and he has no prior knowledge of the game, but he's loving the show. He was looking up the second game and realized Joel wasn't on the cover, so he figured Joel would probably die. When he watched this episode, he called me, upset and angry, because he "thought Joel would at least make it to season two!" and he was so mad because he got so attached to Joel, saw so much of himself in him and understood him so well, and he was HEARTBROKEN because he thought Joel died at the end. As a daughter, I haven't been more thrilled.
If they kill off Joel like they do in the second game, I won’t keep watching. I’m so emotionally attached to him. Even more now with Pedro’s portrayal and it being live-action. It will shatter my heart if it happens that way…
@@ravens_tale I'm the same way. He'll probably die at the end of the premiere of season 2, so I'm thinking I'll watch the first 90% of that episode, then stop, and maybe carry on with season 2 and just never watch the scene...
What a beautiful detail about Craig's daughter singing that amazing cover of Never Let Me Down Again. Combined with Bella's acting and that incredible wide shot of Ellie begging Joel to wake up, it's yet another perfect ending to another perfect episode. Would very much love to hear the full version of Jessica's cover if at all possible! Great podcast again, guys! Equally as excited to hear these as I am to watch every new episode.
@@Hatake0217 So Craig being proud of his daughter and asking her to show off her talent in a show he's making is a bad thing? My dude, why can't you just let a positive response be just that? A positive response. Sure, nepotism is indeed a real thing in today's society, but this was a nice wholesome story that LITERALLY hurts nobody. And if you're thinking "What about other female singers trying to find their shot?", we've had the likes of Agnes Obel, Lotte Kestner, even Linda Ronstadt, all of which are up-and-coming, underrated or legacy female singers involved in the season so far. It's just in this instance, Craig knew his real-life daughter (who already has an established following on Spotify so it's not like he just picked her for the sake of "I'm famous and I can make her famous by using her for my show") could absolutely nail an emotional cover of Depeche Mode for an emotional scene involving his, as he calls Bella, 'adopted daughter'. And he was absolutely right, it's a beautiful cover and fits the scene perfectly. Simples.
The fact that you guys are actually bothering to be considerate of how women would take care of themselves during everyday life, let alone in the apocolyspe, is absolutely brilliant, and amazing to see. Thank you for taking the time, and making the conscious effort to portray the realistic issues we would have. I have wondered for years how women prior to modern times dealt with menstruation, because it’s dang inconvenient now, in a developed country, I can’t imagine how it is for women without access to modern period products, running water, and toilet facilities. I know that many girls in Africa simply don’t go to school while on their periods, because they have no way to deal with it there. So thank you🌟
Realistic issues? All the leaders in the show are female for some reason. It’s a blatant agenda pushing. Nothing to do with reality. You do know that if the society collapses females would probably be doing the same roles they do in modern Afghanistan or Africa?
Mighty thin ice is certainly iconic, when I met Troy at a convention I recorded him saying the line but with my name instead of Ellie’s. The context is NOT the same as “Don’t say another word”, cause as Troy said that is a plead, whereas “mighty thin ice” was a threat. Pedro’s Joel in general has been much warmer and caring to Ellie, making her growing attachment feel more believable/earned, a perfect example being how Troy’s Joel reacted to Ellie saving him compared to Pedro’s reaction. All the nods of respect Pedro gives to Ellie like when she says Tess’s death wasn’t her fault, or when she took 2nd watch, are subtle but important moments that Troy’s Joel would not have given her, and would’ve just scolded her on for challenging him. These feel like changes that were brought about not just cause of Pedro but because of Neil seeing where he can improve the storytelling as well, cause they were flaws that were always there. Pedro’s Joel also goes the extra mile with his concern for her having trauma over killing, dressing animals, seeing skeletons, etc. and he took more time explaining things to her like how the outbreak started.
I think my favorite part of this episode was a line that was not in the game during Ellie's confrontation with Joel: "Do you give a s*** about me or not?" -Ellie "Of course I do." -Joel He says is almost without thinking, and this shows how close these two have become and deep down, he really wants her to know that he cares about her.
When Joel had his panic attacks I knew what it was. I have them too. It is horrible it feels like your hart stops and also goes way to fast. I felt so much for him in this episode. He is an amazing real character. And pedro is incredible!!!
Had those two a couple of times many years ago and it was terrifying until I learned what they were. First time I was sitting at home playing video game. To this day I have absolutely no clue on what triggered it. It wasn't even a violent game.
I really love how they are portraying Joel in the show. It has VERY similar vibes to one of my favorite westerns of all time - The Unforgiven. In that movie you see an aging Outlaw, William Munny, struggling with being as notorious as he was in his younger years. He has a younger outlaw riding with him that had this mythology in his mind about Munny. But seeing him in reality, it bursts that bubble. Until the end... when something happens to someone he cares greatly about -- THEN the William Munny of legend is awakened and it is intense. Knowing where this story is headed, I feel a similar build up to that of The Unforgiven.
The cinematography is absolutely beautiful. Those shots along the river and dam were so beautifully done. To know that so much death and horror has occurred over the last twenty years while nature still remains picturesque is so powerful.
As much as I ADORE the "mighty thin ice" line, I immediately understood why they didn't use it. I was still bummed it wasn't used, but Troy's amazing delivery (to me) comes from a place of anger and frustration. Pedro's take on Joel is older and more tired - he's sadder and far more broken. Still adore the new scene and Bella's voice crsck when she pushed Pedro had me in tears. Amazing episode!
Oh man.. if you really think about what Neal said... it really is the best it will ever be with Joel and Ellie in that moment. Never thought of that... because they finally both embrace their father daughter relationship... and Ellie still has that child like innocence in that moment. If you really pay attention to everything to now.. and everything after.. its such a true line.. Never looked at it that way.
I am so freaking thankful for this show, and I feel like nothing I can do will be sufficient to express how much I love this show, and how thankful I am for everyone involved. This show feels like nothing I've ever seen, it's not TV, it's something beyond.

The dialogue in this series is a form of Art. I love the way Maria presented her line, "Not always, at least" right after Tommy said "A bad reputation doesn't always mean we're bad people". The way she looked directly at Joel tells us she knows all about his past.
This podcast always helps articulate the reasons why I love each episode and understand it on a deeper level. It’s such a good companion to the series.
HOW, HOW DOES THIS SHOW KEEP GETTING BETTER EVERY EPISODE?!?! If both Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey are not nominated for best actor and actress at the next awards season WE RAMPAGE!! This was perhaps my most anticipated episode of the season because it has THE SCENE of Joel and Ellie in the bedroom and I wanted to see more of Jackson. But my god, I didn’t think anything could make me cry more than I did in episode 3 with Bill and Frank, and yet they did it! The scenes of Joel clutching his heart and looking up to see a young woman who almost looks like Sarah, and when he was telling Tommy the truth that he believed that he was going to fail Ellie and get her killed. God I was crying so damn hard, and then when we got to THE SCENE in bedroom I was a complete mess.😭😭😭😭
I liked seeing Ellie and Maria’s boxing match of words, haha. I’m glad Ellie didn’t run away either like in the game. I’m pleasantly surprised about the fast pace of each episode in regards to the gameplay’s storyline. It hasn’t lingered or leaned on long action sequences and puts focus on the evolution of these characters in the journey. Really heckin smart. Love it. So excited for the DLC next week!😆Beautiful and devastating🥲
Phenomenal episode and acting from everyone. I love this adaptation so much, however this feels like it needed to be 12 episodes. So much of the bonding is through combat, barely making it through clickers, random enemies, stealthing through buildings etc. I feel like we should’ve had 1 more episode of them traveling and surviving prior to what we got in this episode. Loving this show, I just feel like it’s condensing down their relationship due to the time constraints of only having 9 episodes, while also making their travels feel slightly less dangerous and shorter than it is in the game which in turn heightens the relationship between Joel & Ellie.
To be honest most of that bonding in the game is done through gameplay which is impossible here. Random enemies, sneaking through buildings and picking infected one by one would be unbelievably dull on tv. Although I would’ve loved to see 12 episodes with brand new storylines and characters
@@alejo5267 Not impossible at all. They’ve already proven they can do it and not make it “dull”. I’m not asking for 12 episodes of gameplay.. but this needed one more episode of Joel and Ellie traveling, surviving through tension filled sequences prior to finding Tommy. Build their relationship just a bit more and it would’ve made this episode hit even harder.
@@alejo5267 Because those moments and bonding is in gameplay, then the show needs to flesh out their bond in other ways. In this instance, I think I agree with OP. Maybe they didn’t need to just flash to 3 months ahead. They could’ve inserted a completely original episode of content to compensate for the lack of gameplay bonding you get in the game. This episode hits for me because I’ve played the game, I know what these two have been through. But the show isn’t showing me all of that, it’s telling me.
They absolutely could have extended the time spent at the University. They also could have fleshed out those 3 months between KC and Jackson. I am loving the show but I definitely agree that I wish they were doing 12 or 13 episodes
Something they didn’t mentioned is when Ellie is waiting for Tommy to pick her up, you can see in her eyes that she deep inside is waiting for it to be Joel, and when it was indeed Tommy you Can see the disappointment too. I just loved that scene which was different from the game.
The theme was "family". Family present (Tommie), Family past (Sara) and Family Future (Joel + Ellie). God this episode, especially after listening to the Podcast, just brought tears to my eyes. I almost started bawling when I factor in TLOU 2 when Joel dies and there is this enormous cavern in Ellie's heart over his gravesite, mourning her "dad".
The cinematography in this ep was off the scales...scene for scene from the game...especially the bedroom scene! I liked the giraffe poster easter egg in the room.
You know I love Troys interpretation of Joel. And while Pedro borrows some of those traits. Personally I find Pedro's Joel far more nuanced. His monalogue was incredible. Emotively too, it was the first real time I connected to Bella as Ellie. Really good episode.
My favorite episode so far so emotional, and powerful I tear up during Joel, and Ellie's monologue I was so happy to see Jackson, and baby shimmer! I love the reference to part 2. I didn't know how the DLC would be worked in ,but looking forward to next week I really appreciate you Neil you gives something to the gamers every week ,and it makes the show feels that much more special Thank man👏🏾👏🏾.

One of the finest hours of TV I've ever seen the nuances and emotion is phenomenal it left me in tears and moved me so much. Everyone is knocking it out of the park
That cover of the song is hauntingly beautiful... Man, perfect placement and timing. Really cool moment for him too since it's his freakin daughter. Amazing
Great ep and great commentary on the show. I agree with whichever guy who's part of the show said his daughter is a remarkable singer. I absolutely LOVED that slow, haunting cover of Depeche Mode's song at the end of the episode. 80's means trouble. Also the line, "I'm taking a ride with my best friend. I hope he never lets me down again." oooh. And I usually always find covers to be less than the original. Finally, Pedro Pescal, Bella Ramsey, and others attached to the show better win a lot of Emmys! ❤
This whole series was done with love and care. I'm loving every episode so far. Everything was well done. I just hope 9 episode is enough to tell the whole story. I wish there were more, like 10 or 12 total episodes, but I trust Craig and Neil. They have done an amazing job and deserve our trust that they know what they are doing.
I can honestly say that I've tried to hold back tears watching all these episodes thus far and i always fail to do so. I don't recall feeling so much empathy towards fictional characters. This is the most emotional series I've seen in a long time, I've played the game multiple times but i couldn't have foreseen how amazing this show is. Even though fictional, it contains a great deal of realism embedded in every episode. ✌
Once again I am impressed at the set pieces they built for this show. Jackson looks just the same as the game, and the university too. Really well done
The ability these writers have to tap into the most raw parts of us that we often tuck away is incredible. I am so taken by the unapologetically honest commentary on humanity each episode delivers. Hats off to every person involved in bringing this story to life beyond the game.
Episode 6 is definitely my favourite episode of the show. It was great seeing the more emotional side of Joel and there was a lot of very emotional scenes that hit hard for me like Joel reuniting with Tommy and Ellie finding out about Sarah.
I kinda understand why they changed the part where Joel got impaled. It was more realistic than the game, I remember I questioned myself once if Joel's gonna survive that, he was barbequed in the game. But yeah, Joel getting older kinda adds severity to the injury. However, this episode felt kinda rushed, esp on the last part, they got past the antagonists pretty quickly, but at the same time it felt well-paced because we got to see plenty of Jackson and a few cameos from part II. Overall, I really liked the episode.
SPOILERS: Also with it being a show it's not like they'll be going through 2 dozen enemies. It was only like that in the game because you need combat for the gameplay. Felt like we got what we needed out of the University bit so we can have a full episode with Riley and then an episode with the cannibals. Then the final episode in Salt Lake City.
The differences are very remarkable because in the series there is no need for gameplay or action for the player… This was a nice and perfect way to made this arc, without the expendable action
@@pauljjeppson6530 Yeah, we got a lot of action and drama last episode so it's kinda nice to rest for a bit. I wonder if they will mix Ellie taking care of Joel and Ellie/Riley flashback like they did in the Left Behind DLC.
Yeah there’s no way Joel on the show would have survived falling off a building and getting impaled. They mention his age and his mind being troubled. He wouldn’t survive. But the way the show had him injured makes it more believable that he can bounce back from it.
Pacing hasn’t been good since the first half of the first episode. It’s only gotten worse tbh, I know this was one of the few gripes critics had with the show, and it’s definitely noticeable. They really should have stretched it to 12 episodes or something and lingered more in certain scenes, certain areas..slow down the dialogue, etc. Now obviously episode 3 had its own pace going most of the time. But as far as the main story, I’m also not a fan of the flashbacks that are actually flashes, like another one of Sarah this episode. It was unnecessary and amateur, Joel seeing the girl from behind that looked like her was already more than enough.
Amazing episode. Well performed, well executed, amazing acting from all invovled. Really well made CGI. For me this is the best episode so far. Made me tear up several times.
i love hearing craig mazin talk about characters and their hidden motives. it opens up a whole new world about the story that makes it much more interesting. the drama and the relationship between characters is what makes this show so phenomenal and this podcast opens up a whole new world about them.
This episode moved the series from good to rather great in my eyes. Joel seeing Tommy again broke my heart and I didn’t expect it at all. And Joel overall feels like a different version of the character in the best way possible; seeing how he’s starting to fear not being able to protect Ellie. If his story was a beat by beat reenactment of the game’s story, even if done wonderfully, it’d be worse for it. I love how it’s changed and it allows me to feel for him in different and new ways. Such smart work!! :) It’s awesome
The scene where Joel and Ellie meet Maria and her crew on the horses, I feel is a nod to when Joel tells Abby his name in part II and they ride together to Abby’s base..
@@StarRain6 and why would he after living in a giant settlement who meets tons of people that are either coming and going from Jackson or people they find and help on patrols? Joel telling someone his name was never an actual issue.

@@paulsmith9192 And yeah, he discards her. The plan was to find and/or save Tommy, and then to find out where the firefly lab is from Tommy and go there, Joel bringing Ellie to Marlene. Not having constant panic attacks and projecting his daughter onto her- ellie senses and then figures out his aggressively aggrieved fatherhood projection and it drives a wedge between them during the episode. Their interval of reconciliation isn’t perfect in the game either (university)
@@paulsmith9192 she’s happy because they “reconcile,” he doesn’t discard her. He can’t. He thinks she’s dependent on him like a daughter, when they’ve really been interdependent at best and codependent at worst

17:40 the clothing and hair style... I instantly thought it was Dina who was staring at Ellie! However I completely forgot that we never got to see Jackson from the inside in the first game.

You know, watching the show and listening to the podcast later from the sources works especially this day in age. It's not about opinions and fanfare but more of a deeper look into this world 🌎. Fantastic!
As someone who has watched Jasmila's previous work you could feel that it was her. Most Bosnian directors love doing those quiet landscape shots as a contrast to the war and chaos in the movie (which Bosnian directors, unfortunately, have mastered by now)
I am so torn because I love the show, but I feel like there are these odd choices that keep it from being a 10/10 for me. Like audiences have already shown that they are okay watching over an hour long episode, so why are we rushing through the university scene and rushing Joel's injury? Feels like a huge miss not to build tension by having a couple infected in the university or a fight scene between people to really build up the tension culminating in Joel's injury. I didn't really feel sad or shocked when that moment happened because it was so sudden.
Graham Greene and Elaine Miles are an addition to the cast that makes it enjoyable Graham has been in many things especially the appearances on the Red Green Show among other films and TV shows and Elaine Miles best known from Northern Exposure.
this show is absolutely amazing! even if i knew nothing about the games i find it to be just a great ride.this is a master class in how a adaptation of a game to movie/tv show should be, honoring the source material while adding its own ideas or flashing out ideas that couldnt be done in the game. i know there will be those that criticize the changes and tear the show apart for ruining things, but i also know there will be plenty of people praising the changes, not that the game is bad, but just being able to tell the same story in a different way. I especially like how troy baker has ben very positive about Pedro pascal's portrayal of joel its ok to be protective of something you love, but its even better to share that love with another person who also loves that character. great job so far keep up the great work! will there be a season 2? 3?4?

When Ellie (doesn't matter the actress) says it, I cry.
No, she didn't. Maybe of no fault of her own. Perhaps she was directed to do so in the manner that she did idk. However, I know that the game did that scene with more emotional and subtle nuances. I like this show quite a lot but it hasn't been flawless like people are implying
I look forward to these podcasts just as much as I look forward to the episodes.
Yeah it's great getting new info and diologue about the game
Same! Love the behind the scenes tidbits
Me too I always come here right after I watch!
Same! It's my go to as soon as those credits roll
They are so good. I too look forward to listening to them every week.
Using duct tape to fix his shoe was another nice subtle nod to the resource collection from the game too. So many Easter eggs!
I really wish I could have enjoyed this episode the way everyone else is. This is one of those properties that I love so much and want to love everything but I just really did not like this episode. Like intensely did not like it. And it really bums me out.

Mazin will be HBO new man for content
He’s such a good actor!!!
(also; it was v accurate of ellie to steal from them on their way out, and then claim, "they dont know anything." lol!)
This felt like a breath of fresh air, as an Indigenous person myself, to just see good, accurate representation. And to see how easy it could be!!! It's crazy to think in this day and age I'm still crying over seeing people like me on screen lol
The way Joel shouts "Tommy" just kills me every time. Pedro knows how to deliver emotional reality.
As a daughter, I haven't been more thrilled.
ohhhh you~! hahaha
OH BOY! I need to know what he would think about the next few episodes, would you mind to update us?
What a beautiful detail about Craig's daughter singing that amazing cover of Never Let Me Down Again. Combined with Bella's acting and that incredible wide shot of Ellie begging Joel to wake up, it's yet another perfect ending to another perfect episode.
Would very much love to hear the full version of Jessica's cover if at all possible!
Great podcast again, guys! Equally as excited to hear these as I am to watch every new episode.
Yeah, apparently nepotism is okay as long as you know it's nepotism.....
I think my favorite part of this episode was a line that was not in the game during Ellie's confrontation with Joel:
"Do you give a s*** about me or not?" -Ellie
"Of course I do." -Joel
He says is almost without thinking, and this shows how close these two have become and deep down, he really wants her to know that he cares about her.
It wasn't even a violent game.
none of the other episodes made me as anxious as i am for episode 7

@khobe Briant Thanks Captain Obvious, also, not everyone has played the game.
@@joshramirez7 true as i have never played the game but iam not mad as he didn't say what happens in episode 7 its all good!
I'm more dreading the David arc. It's heavy topic and it's gonna be even harder to watch live action
You can hear the passion for this project in their voices. It's like drugs for my ears. I love these podcasts as much as I love the show.
The cinematography is absolutely beautiful. Those shots along the river and dam were so beautifully done. To know that so much death and horror has occurred over the last twenty years while nature still remains picturesque is so powerful.
Gorgeous scenery!
The stars in the night sky, the beauty of a night without light pollution - that really got me.
@@JokerLurver the northern lights shimmering was a perfect touch.
Honestly that's kind of a messed up spoiler.
This episode was one of the best so far, very emotional dialogue between characters
I am so freaking thankful for this show, and I feel like nothing I can do will be sufficient to express how much I love this show, and how thankful I am for everyone involved. This show feels like nothing I've ever seen, it's not TV, it's something beyond.
Seeing Dina, there’s a 100% chance we see Abby in S1. Super happy they’re seeding things for part 2 as they couldn’t for the first game because part 2 wasn’t fully planned when they were making the first game!

Man, I was thinking how amazing the cover at the end was. I had no idea that was Craig's daughter! She has an absolutely amazing voice!
Ashley Johnson and Troy Baker deserve an honorary writing credit for the TV show for the performances that informed it so deeply.
ALSO the animation team from the game.
That song choice hit hard, during that last scene. It was really powerful. Craig's daughter did a great job.
More shows need podcasts like these, really to show how much the creators care about them, its great!👍
Really.. really.. really...... loved this episode!! Felt like they definitely nailed it.. emotionally.
But the show isn’t showing me all of that, it’s telling me.
i agree, feels like there’s something missing between their relationship at times. this episode threw a lot at us
They absolutely could have extended the time spent at the University. They also could have fleshed out those 3 months between KC and Jackson. I am loving the show but I definitely agree that I wish they were doing 12 or 13 episodes
Amazing episode after episode. Everyone involved is doin the damn thing. Been a well of emotion every Sunday
Thank you all very much for the game, the show, and this podcast. Thank you a thousand times.
Once again, there are so much Part II in this episode, I love it.
The moment when sound The path, Im crying.
I love listening to this right after the weekly episode. One two punch of pure delight. Thanks!
The cinematography in this ep was off the scales...scene for scene from the game...especially the bedroom scene! I liked the giraffe poster easter egg in the room.
I wish more shows would do this. It brings a whole new level of appreciation for the show.
You know I love Troys interpretation of Joel. And while Pedro borrows some of those traits. Personally I find Pedro's Joel far more nuanced. His monalogue was incredible. Emotively too, it was the first real time I connected to Bella as Ellie. Really good episode.
Perhaps Troy’s performance was the best for the game and Pedro’s was the best for TV?
My favorite episode so far so emotional, and powerful I tear up during Joel, and Ellie's monologue I was so happy to see Jackson, and baby shimmer! I love the reference to part 2. I didn't know how the DLC would be worked in ,but looking forward to next week

Amazing
"I think the honest truth is, if he could be anything or do anything, he would be a Dad raising his daughter".
Oof, that got to me.
Let's go! Love hearing the podcast with Troy and the directors
Fr! Who better to have on an after show than the actor for the main character in the game and druckman himself
Craig you are genius!!!! That version that Jessie adapted is so matched and beautiful…
I love how they introduced Joel talking about failling Ellie just like he failed Sarah, will be a catalyst for the finale
SPOILERS:
Also with it being a show it's not like they'll be going through 2 dozen enemies. It was only like that in the game because you need combat for the gameplay. Felt like we got what we needed out of the University bit so we can have a full episode with Riley and then an episode with the cannibals. Then the final episode in Salt Lake City.
The differences are very remarkable because in the series there is no need for gameplay or action for the player…
This was a nice and perfect way to made this arc, without the expendable action
But as far as the main story,
I’m also not a fan of the flashbacks that are actually flashes, like another one of Sarah this episode.
I also saw this.

Thank you Craig for having your daughter make this version of the DM song. OMG , it is so emotional...
The story about Craig’s daughter forgetting to make a song for the show is one of the funniest and most wholesome things I’ve ever heard.
You know, watching the show and listening to the podcast later from the sources works especially this day in age. It's not about opinions and fanfare but more of a deeper look into this world 🌎. Fantastic!
something I've noticed rewatching this season, every third episode (3, 6 & 9) are the most about Love or showcase Love at its fullest.
Loved the naughty dog yellow with all the firefly symbols guiding them into the science building and up the stairs
Such a cozy Winter episode. Loved the shots overlooking everyhing.
Cinematography is amazing 👏
This was so beautiful I wanna cry
I love the little nods to TLOU 2, & the in between the 1st & 2nd parts. I knew she was Dina!!!!

this show is absolutely amazing! even if i knew nothing about the games i find it to be just a great ride.this is a master class in how a adaptation of a game to movie/tv show should be, honoring the source material while adding its own ideas or flashing out ideas that couldnt be done in the game. i know there will be those that criticize the changes and tear the show apart for ruining things, but i also know there will be plenty of people praising the changes, not that the game is bad, but just being able to tell the same story in a different way. I especially like how troy baker has ben very positive about Pedro pascal's portrayal of joel its ok to be protective of something you love, but its even better to share that love with another person who also loves that character.
great job so far keep up the great work!
will there be a season 2? 3?4?
