When Jesus Warns You, It's Best To Pay Attention: The Mark Series Pt 28 (

- The problem here is that Jesus’ warning is a puzzle. But, looking at the passage in context it’s not that hard to see what it’s about. We’ll cover the meaning of “the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod”. We’ll also find out why Jesus healed a blind man in two stages and how it relates to the disciples understanding of Jesus. This is a verse by verse study of Mark 8:13-26 and it is part of a larger verse by verse study through Mark, available here • The Gospel of Mark Ser...

Please pray for me that I come to understand and receive salvation in Christ Jesus
Amen. I will. God bless you.....
Have you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior? I have prayed for you. 12-22-21
Calvinism is nonsense; if you want to call on Jesus, pray to him right now.
@Tatersalad19Cars just in case you still seek salvation, I'm praying. I pray not for understanding but for faith that He is real, waiting for you to open the door as He knocks. Jesus wants to dinner with you. Amen.
All you have to do is repent and ask Jesus now
About the "men as trees" incident. My father is a medical doctor and this part was very convincing to him. Apparently this has to do with how the brain interprets the signals it receives from the eyes. People who have never seen before who suddenly gain use of their eyes would see structures but not know how to interpret them. It seems unlikely that people in the first century would have known this and that makes the account very probable.
Thank you for adding another dimension to this teaching!
Exactly!
There is a video on youtube of people being able to see for the first time after surgery, and they were unable to recognize an orb, pyramid and cube without picking them up.
I don't think Jesus 'failed' to heal completely. It was Jesus giving the man 'full healing', and then 'downloading' the understanding and comprehension the man needed to use his new sight.
So, fix the body, then give him years worth of experience to understand what he looked at.
This was really cool to find out! Thanks for posting it!
This ministry is a huge blessing.
It has spirit
Thank God that we're able to find this person with the help of the internet and listen to him spread God's word.
So thankful I found this. This guy knows his stuff very well. Even better "his stuff" seems to always line up biblically when he let's us know that what's he's saying is an opinion, he almost always tells us that.
I love your teaching. I would like to add something to the story of Herod. He was half Jewish that’s why John the Baptist rebuked him for marrying his brother’s wife while his brother is still alive. Also, Herod liked John a lot knowing that he is a prophet and didn’t want to kill him but because he feared what the people would say about him instead of fearing God. Herod, therefore, feared men and not God. That’s the leaven Jesus was talking about.
Yay I found another great pastor. Great teaching I can appreciate. Nice to see real men of God teaching 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾❤️
Wow you are so gifted and amazing at explaining the scriptures, you're like a living study bible! I love your channel, God bless you and thank you !
Very good. Hearing this I'm reminded how God's word is in real life language not cryptic language. God wants us to think and seek and with His help we will find and appreciate the journey of learning, and knowing Him more. Vessels indeed, not just doing things for God. Surrendered. Thanks Mike, B. 📖 ⛪
Mike, your studies are very good. I love how you stick to Scripture; you measure everything against God's word, and you seem to have such a good grasp of it. Thanks. Very informative.
Thank you Mike Winger for this awesome message. Just what I needed to hear. God bless!
Thank you Pr Mike Winger for your bible study videos which opens us our hearts to ponder more on the Word of God! God Bless your Ministry! ✝️👏🙌👍
Hey, I have a bridge I can sell you real cheap. But it's in China, they don't build bridges much in the USA anymore.

Good Morning "in the name of our Lord" Jesus Christ.
from Vancouver Island Canada.
Brother I'm grateful to have been led to your channel. I trust so few"leaders" but I feel you are truly serving.
Thank you, Mike, I always learn from your messages.
Hey Mike. Thank you for this. It was really like a truth knife of the Spirit when you said some of us have been told what to do and still haven't done it and are like children in a struggle with their parents. I am in that right now. God has informed me and I am struggling with doing what He told me to do. He is with me. I have to calm my fears with that belief. No matter how it ends, Your with me even then. I am not above judgement. In fact judgement begins with the house of the Lord and the Father chastens every son whom He receives other wise you are illegitamite and not sons. The ones who had the steadfast house was the doer of the Word and not the hearers only. The thing is I have been a very good hearer, but not such a great doer of the Word. That is really scary. I know all the "right" answers as I grew up with a strong theological influence and regular church attendance. I can put on a good show. But I don't want to look good I want to be good. I want to know Jesus and really become like Him not pretend to know Him. Everything I know will not save me but what I do with what I know. I have received the rebuke from James 1 by a Holy Spirit prayer insight to be careful to be a doer of the Word and be effective not a forgetful hearer and thank God they had the boldness to say it to me. I could continue acting but I don't want anything fake in my life. I don't want to be self deceived. I cannot allow my life to continue going in this direction. Help Jesus. I need God's grace to change. Just believe. Take a step of faith and act on it. I know I am talking to myself here, but I needed a space to build myself up in my most Holy faith. Thank you for that. Pray I have the boldness I ought to have and grow and learn endurance and obedience. With wisdom. Thank you.
Well, I thank God for you Mike. You have helped me beyond belief.
Humility IS reality! The reality is _always_ "humble" enough to support humility!
This is the falicy of the Roman Catholic Church...elevating a one Christian over another. All Christians in Jesus' eyes equally valuable. Amen. Thank you Jesus. I have learned something valuable today. Whoever humbles himself will be honored and whoever humbles himself will be exalted. This is why we do NOT need a POPE or a PASTOR--but the Holy Spirit to guide us. :)
I haven't finished the video yet, but what was the fallacy of the Roman Catholic Church? We hold that every Christian is equally valuable, but there are certain positions or offices that we have to respect.
In the same comment you showed a part of the reason why we need a Pope (and/or a pastor). People from for example two different denominations claim they are guided by the Holy Spirit, but they arrived at two different conclusions. Whom are we going to trust? The Spirit of God is not three author of confusion and btw, the Holy Spirit does lead His Church.
The most famous example of Pope having authority is Matthew 16 where Jesus as the King gives Peter the position of the "prime minister" which originates from the Old Testament. Jesus told Peter to feed His sheep and gave the Church authority (when a brother doesn't listen to you tell him to the Church, to bind and loose... )
If Catholicism were true would you become a Catholic?
You (Catholics) need a Pope, when God gave Christians the Holy Spirit in Jesus' absence. This is the whole point of the Reformation to get back to reading the Bible--rather than following a Pope. Roman Catholics cherry pick which Popes' writings they accept. My point is this: when a prophet/Pope teaches--ALL of what they say/prophesize must be true, not just some--otherwise the message does not come from God. This separates one who has God's ear from one that does NOT. God is not the author of confusion.
@@redit5332 Pope is not a prophet and is certantly not perfect. When Pope speaks ex cathedra (from official position) publicly on matters of faith and morals then it's binding for all Catholics to believe. Pope can privately believe and say whatever he wants and we are not obligaded to believe it. So we are not cherry picking.
Tell me, what Bible did the early Christians use? The collection of books we call the Bible was compiled much later. For the first few decades there was no written New Testament and there was no clear canon of the Old Testament although it's reasonable to assume that Jesus and the apostles used LXX or Septuagint.
God is not the author of confusion. That's why I invite you to think about Roman Catholicism or at least learn what we believe and if it's the will of God, to join His Church whose roots can be traced to Jesus and His apostles, has continuity of the faith and moral stances.
Reformation as in reforms of three Church was a good idea, but what Luther did was not a reformation, but de facto a revolution.
You haven't answered my question. Would you become a Roman Catholic if Roman Catholicism were true?
The whole POINT of being a Christian is to FOLLOW the HOLY SPIRIT. This is WHY God (a title) gave Christians a comforter in Jesus' absense following His ascension to heaven.
Christians are NOT to quaral over theology, we are to follow the Holy Spirit--not a POPE or a PASTOR but to gather people into His flock.
To answer your question, "If Catholism were true, would I become a Catholic? My answer would be "No" because the Roman Catholic church has too much baggage, and by baggage I mean hypocracy in it's past and present. The Diocese is no different than the Pharisees and the Sadducees.
Jesus did not give Peter the headship of PRIME MInister. ALL apostles are equal. Peter was called the rock for his FAITH, but was not a good theologian because apostle Paul had to reign him in MANY times because of his misinterpretation of what Jesus said (theology). The apostle Paul was a far better theologan than Peter. This is WHY Christ gave Christians the Holy Spirit. If a Christian is following the Holy Spirit what he says and does is ALL truth or he is NOT following the Holy Spirit but is a charlatan.
@@redit5332umm Catholics are led by the Holy Spirit.
In fact Paul says in 1st Corinthians that we should be of one though which I understood to mean have the same faith. If it doesn't mean that, Ephesians 4 says one faith, one baptism.
The Holy Spirit inspired the New Testament writters who wrote about the Pope and the bishops so you are self-defeating yourself.
Maybe you didn't understand me. I asked "if it were true", so we imagine it is true no matter if it actually is. I didn't ask why aren't you.
According to your standard, you should also leave your church(es) with no more than 503 years of existence with its man made traditions (you keep accusing us, but are in fact the true guilty) like Sola Scriptura and the entire Old Testament prophets. Abraham, hidden the fact that Sarah was his wife. Jacob, fooled his own brother. Moses, the murderer. Aron who made the golden caf. David, another murder and adultorer. Salomon, disobedient to the Lord (many foreign wifes). Elijah, a coward. Women like Rahab and Bath Sheba in Jesus' blood line... Just look at the examples! So God used fallible men in order to show His omnipotence.
Do you think there are no Protestant churches with hypocrites? If there aren't, a church is probably too small to begin with.
If you wouldn't even consider Roman Catholicism it much says about you. Since there is no need of further discussion, should you even reply?
Great lesson! It is a reminder of not becoming like the Pharisees even though I stumble and fall and become on at times!
these online videos are great i learn allot from you explaning things 😁
Thanks for all the work you are doing, this series, as well as the online Q&A etc., have been a huge blessing. Bless you bro.
Thank you so much, what a wonderful ambassador you are for our Lord. This message was so clear and easy to understand. God Bless you!
its very easy for scholars today to be critical of the people/disciples of JESUS' time/era. we have the bible ...sermons ....lessons ...so we know the teachings of our LORD , but to those who were at the orogin time ...this was so incredible .
lets be wise with those around us ,,,who are new to the teachings of scripture .
Remember that the translation of "hypocrite" is "actor". The original audience wasn't thinking "hypocrite" but "actor". This will inform your interpretation. Actors say but do not do. They pretend. Actors put on a show wishing to be seen. Etc.
@Sara Rainey Sure thing. Another tidbit is that ancient actors wore masks to hide themselves and represent a character. "Mask" imagery corresponds with metaphors like the whitewashed sepulcher. There's a lot of rich content here that gets lost with the "hypocrite" transliteration and all the baggage we associate with it.
Ohh now thats interesting! Makes me think abour the whole modern church ceremony, where actors go up the stage/pulpit and viewers/members watch the performance.
Humility IS reality! The reality is _always_ "humble" enough to support humility!
"All the world's a stage"(Shakespeare), and each must play their part, but when the play ends, then the reality comes unto it's own. See through the play to the reality beyond, for here lies the truth, trampled underfoot....
During Yeshua's time on earth there was only one written Torah, and one "oral Torah", but now....
Do the research.
Jesus spoke Aramaic (or Hebrew) and not Greek. The Greek hypotrites was only ever applied in Greek to actors because of acting being not real, and thus 'above judgment,' which - believe me as someone who understands enough Greek to know - means, as in English, in the context Jesus used it, 'hypocrite.'
From an infinite God we *CAN* be ever learning and ever receiving. Amen!
Thanks Mike! It's so good to look at what Jesus is saying and how he is saying it.
We are so blessed by God to have this ministry. And as for going deep into the Word of God and the God of the Word, proverbs 25:2 it is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honor of kings is to search out a matter.” And doesn’t Gods word teach us that we are kings and priests in Christ
He is so likable Because he's such a normal guy ;)
That's one of the things I've realized more re those who are unbelievers. Because of their hardened hearts, they don't really study and therefore miss some very profound truths. But they don't want to know; they don't want it to be true, no matter how much some say they do. Seems that God wants to know just how much effort are you willing to take to find Him and His truth...for "those with eyes to see, ears to hear". And then how willing are you to give up your mistaken human preconceived ideas that you prefer.
Nothing's changed.
The Pharisees and arrogant, hardened, "learned" rabbi types still abound and have multiplied greatly.
Jesus talked in riddles to confuse the "wise". His Word is His treasure and cannot be given to those who approach it with minds like thieves, pretending to extract its truths without giving reverence to the Lord God that owns them. He will give it freely though, to all that humble themselves and ask for it.
He really told a situation that makes a story. It kind of describing situations. He didn't really come out say things. He wanted us to analyze them.
Thank you for your closing prayer/
Thank You Pastor Mike.
Was reading this on the bus this morning 😀
so many good points, Mike. thanks!! i love how you teach too!
God bless and thank you Mike.
Great point about the initial fuzzy vision of the blind man and the lack of clarity of the disciples at that point.
I love how "THE CREATOR'S" SOVEREIGNTY guides us; Keeps us; & speaks to us in "HIS" most BRILLIANT BEAUTIFUL AMAZING LOVING JUST KIND ways... WORSHIP is easy💕💕💕

So smart and awesome to be pointed out in a simple and straightforward way. We our are own worst enemy when it comes to reading the bible sometimes.

Thanks Mike for the teaching and the prayer as well. Also want to say what a great video visually it like your in person 👍🏼
as Daniel... now you have assisted me Graciously to maintain full intent to obey GOD; while practically applying the skill & understanding GOD has gifted me😪😔. Humbled beyond words. Ty
My son just listened to the first reading and understood what you were talking about me over here trying to remember everything single explanation
Still Love the mark series in 2020#!
36:00 It is true Abrahams faith is what counted and not something he did. This is a very hard to comprehend ideology because of all doctrines and interpretations out there. His faith was in obedience though. Abraham was made a promise that he had every logical reason to dismiss. Instead, he believed, in faith and obeyed what he was told. The context of this obedience is not even comprehensible to people today. We say ok father, we will listen and then after a couple hard trials or a few years with no noticeable benefits we start questioning. Abraham held on to his faith for decades. Obeying in all ways. He wasnt counted because he did any of those things or because he did a particular thing. He was counted because he kept that belief daily in his actions for a promise that was unseen. We can NOT be justified and counted righteous by what we do, alone (like the jews believed) but we ARE counted by our belief and faith, which is most importantly defined, by our obedience. If we dont obey, we dont really believe hes real. We just hope for an insurance policy. We obey because we do believe hes real and we follow his instructions.
We obey the FATHER in ALL things. Most importantly we love. First the Lord and then each other as ourselves. Love is the most important thing after faith. Faith and love and walking in His will. We learn His will by our personal relationship with HIM. By seeking HIM every day. By opening our hearts and minds to Him in humble gratitude for ALL He has done. We bow in acknowledgement of His absolute sovereignty. We believe in the finished work at the cross where the veil was torn giving us access freely to speak to the Lord
Good summary.
I can not say thank you enough. I have not stuck with a series like this b4. I am enjoying and learning so much. Thanks Mike. Praise God.
Thumbs up for the GBBS!! I watch it too Mike :)
Hey Mike I always thought;
Herod = Herodians = Sadusees
I liked the way you explained the body of Christ. We have 1 head, the Lord Jesus.
I learn so much from your teachings Mike. Thank you!
I thought you made very good points. I especially like how you point out Jesus was doing something different with the healing for his audience.
It seems to me that Jesus selected his audience, in this case narrowing it to mainly his close disciples. For the purpose of teaching.
Thank you Mike for the pearls of wisdom
Thanks for your honesty
Thank you
Good teaching Mike, I understand much better those words in the Bible now. Thank you for all the studying that you do, so to bring us this teaching. I do enjoy studying myself where I need to in my individual circumstances and always have. I have learned from the great teacher, the late Derek Prince. Glad you have a verse by verse manner and you also include themes. You bless my heart and I ask God to continually to bless you and your family.
God Bless
You are an incredible teacher. Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you brother Mike
I love how you teach Mike
Thank You!
Good stuff, Mike. Thanks for another sermon.
Very good teaching. I am so glad that I stumbled on to this.
Thank you Mike. I’m so grateful for you!
Thank you for sharing the insight on the leaven. I hadn't thought about them as two different leaven. I think that because the leaven of the Pharisees is usually explained, but the leaven of Herod is not, I find myself focusing on the correlation between leaven and teachings (especially since in another place He said to do what the Pharisees say, and not what they do), and forget that Herod isn't a teacher.
I'm now starting to wonder if Christ intentionally gave different instructions to the crowd, and different instructions to the disciples on this occasion, and how that affects the interpretation of the rest of His teachings, or whether the disciples still didn't understand what He was saying at that time, especially given the fact that in the context, the Pharisees had not been teaching, but had instead asked for a sign, and He had rebuked them for being unable to discern the times, a similar rebuke to the one He gave the disciples for having a hardened heart, and failing to see and understand.
Could He have been referring to the Pharisees', and Herod's unbelief, or unresponsiveness to obvious signs from God, and yet asking for more signs when He mentioned leaven, or were the disciples given different instructions from the rest of the crowd? The first option ties in well with His teaching to do what the Pharisees say, but not what they do, considering that the Pharisees sat on Moses' seat, and taught the law of Moses. I also notice that one thing in common that both the Pharisees and Herod did was to ask for signs, and in the context, that also just happens to be what the Pharisees were doing.
Thanks, Mike! I'm listening to tons of your talks on UA-cam, I plan to donate to your ministry someday if I can find a good way to give. God bless!
Great video!

This topic always relates in my mind to col2:8. Being a former calvinist corrected by the Spirit, it also relates to man made traditions like calvinism. Though, it is by no means limited to calvinism, but I think includes all the many man made ways we divide the body with our traditions, rather then following what God said and walking in step with the Spirit.
I think it's related to the subject and what stands out in my mind. Just my thoughts on it.
Nathan , hi I've being seeing Christians debating Calvinist on social media, I didn't know much about Calvinism and their theology.
@@pouseu a good place to learn more is either soteriology101 the website, or there is a Facebook page by the same name. Lots of resources and links there, as well as playing calvinists fir themselves and giving an answer. I hope that helps.
@@pouseu but to learn calvinism directly from calvinists, gotquestions, or monergism , are both good site to learn what they believe. It's at its root the belief in Devine determinism and that God chooses before we are born who will be saved and lost. Its rooted in the 5th century teaching of Augustine. He was the first to bring this veiw into the church, it can only be found amongst the gnostic enemies of the church prior to Augustine.
@@nathanburgett1599 at first I couldn't get my head around it why Christians were debating other Christians and then go find out the difference in the calVinism doctrine. Thats a good site gotquestion. Its good to hear that God has saved you from Calvinism theology.
@@pouseu I understand and agree. I think colossians 2:8 speaks some to this issue. Man made traditions and philosophy are able to take the mind captive. It really is an unessisary division in the body. It's a long and complicated answer to why it happens but it's been around since the beginning of the church. Men creating tradition for various reasons that divide the body.
Soteriology 101 is a good place to get an objective veiw of why it matters. I know first hand the damage these divisions cause. If your just seeking to understand the debate and difference, I recommend those. I think man made traditions is a major problem today. Why men cant follow the Spirit and love each other, is rooted in our carnal immaturity I think.
Anyway I hope that helps. Love you
Thanks

Interesting how mike can literally talk through in proper context about how the pharisees were rebuked for not obeying the fathers law completely and then literally still think that we dont have to be more righteous than those pharisees. ..
@@tomastavlov1168 we got Jesus, they didn't. Instead of following the law of the Torah, we can follow the law of grace.
I'm still learning, and I lack detail. But I was caught up in the Torah movement. Not entirely bad, a lot of good stuff there. A few places in Romans made me sceptical, and now I'm in a weird place where I want to do the law, but know I can't. Righteousness can come from the law of grace, and that is what we all need.
@@haroldfisher7528 not sure what you learned or didnt learn from the "torah movement" but while I have found there to be some discrepancy, as in any body the spirit does sneak in to subvert and pervert. However, the scripture does lean more to the foundation of Torah obedience. The scriptures says stop sinning. They say to obey the fathers law. Messiah did not come with his own words. He came with nothing new. Time and again they refer to learninf the scriptures in the synagogue on the sabbath. Well only the original scriptures existed to learn from. They weren't preaching the "new testament"
Christianity is known for not doing the sabbath yet hebrews says to keep it. Messiah says to keep it multiple times. We are called to be more righteous than the pharisees. They kept most of the law.... should be obvious that we are called to keep it better than they did. He warned of the leaven (as mike completely deacribes in this video) that leaven was ignoring the fathers law for their traditons. What does Christianity do? They've done away with the law and have inherited other traditions.
@@haroldfisher7528 no where does the scripture say you cant keep his instructions.
Everyone before messiah came also knew about him and were waiting for him.
Paul uses a lot of euphemisms and metaphors and ultimately seems to create things that arent real as a waybto explain ideas. Law of grace is an example. Its not really a real thing. Its not actually a law like the law to follow. Grace is simply our second chance to be righteous. It is a gift. It cant be earned.. important, you cant work or do something for it. Nonetheless you have the second chance at righteousness with grace. Second chance at life. You cant continue in sin though. Sin is defined as disobedience. You cant just make up context. The bible interprets itself. It really is simple.
@@haroldfisher7528
Hey brother, as another person said I dont know what your learned or didn't learn regarding living in Torah obedience. I thank God that over the last year and a half I have been on an in depth study of the bible after a in depth study lasting a couple months of church history, both western and eastern Christianity. The blessing God has showered on my family since this journey have been amazing. God even had us move to a different state with no jobs only to then provide everything we needed. It was on my own personal Abraham experience, albeit on a much smaller scale! I say that all to encourage you.
No doubt you have learned and hopefully understood Matthew 5:17-19. And no doubt, hopefully, the biblical definition of the new covenant has been explained to you. How in that definition God himself claims we will follow his Torah/law.
hopefully what I am about to say isn't a repeat of something you have already been told. But it has always been grace there was never a moment old or new covenant when we had to earn God's grace. Isreal was saved from Egypt, in God's words they were REDEEMED from Egypt. They didn't earn that, it was his grace. And only after they were Redeemed were they given the Torah/laws by which to live as God's set apart and redeemed people. Following the Torah is the response to being saved. It is us being saved by Jesus/Yeshua and him saying now go and sin no more.
Now we know if we stumble and sin we have an Atonement like no other in the blood of Christ!! However for the one who comes to truth to to turn their back and live in the old way of their flesh with no regard for the fathers Torah... well that is a dangerous place to be. Only God knows the heart but why flirt with the line. Paul said do we then sin since we are under Grace and not the curse of the law, HEAVEN FORBID was his response romans 6-7 Paul's shows us why we follow the law/Torah because
Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, so that you obey its desires. And do not offer any parts of it to sin as weapons for unrighteousness. But as those who are alive from the dead, offer yourselves to God, and all the parts of yourselves to God as weapons for righteousness. For sin will not rule over you, because you are not under law but under grace. What then? Should we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Absolutely not! Don’t you know that if you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of that one you obey - either of sin leading to death or of obedience leading to righteousness? But thank God that, although you used to be slaves of sin, you obeyed from the heart that pattern of teaching you were transferred to, and having been liberated from sin, you became enslaved to righteousness.
Romans 6:12-18 HCSB
Honestly the whole chapter including the next one is just Paul waving his arms telling us to keep Torah.
God desires that you live as a living sacrifice, in obedience leading to righteousness!! A righteousness that is only available by the blood of Jesus/Yeshua. Deep in you heart you know and desire to follow his commands. I know the world around us does everything it can to destroy that desire in us! But hold firm to the Teaching/ Torah that God has written in your heart when he circumcised it. Don't be considered with the traditions of man, they are a yoke that is unbearable, leading to division and confusion. But the Yoke of God leads to freedom!! It's still a yoke but it is light and brings us near to God, the way he intended!!
Brother I hope this helps, you and anyone else reading it, may the father bless you all!
I was reminded of the time years ago when I was a bartender in the restaurant attached to a large convention hotel. One of my busiest nights was the one worked during the Baptist preachers' convention. Pastors would furtively come to the bar, throw back a shot, pop a mint and off they'd go. Today I don't tend bar but even then I knew you can't look around, you have to look up.
I wonder if Jesus ever got so frustrated with everyone, that He went off by Himself, secretly turned water into wine, and enjoyed Himself a nice little buzz.
Natasha Mudford In a word, no!

Why do you think that? There is plenty about Jesus that is not written in the scriptures. Perhaps when we get to heaven, you and I can get together and go ask Him.
I wouldn't be surprised if He said something like, "Wine? Of course not! I needed something much stronger than that! I made margaritas using top shelf tequila!" ...then start singing the Tequila song and dancing like PeeWee Herman.
I bet He has a lovely sense of humor.
While the Bible definitely says he in the heavens laughs, psalm 2, and it does say Christ marveled at peoples lack of faith and Christ was sorrowful at times, I know that according to Gods word when Christ needed to be strengthened he didn’t go for a shot or snort of alcohol but rather when going off by himself it was to pray and spend time with our Heavenly Father and angels were sent to strengthen him. To assume alcohol is what Christ would reach for is to sell him short of who he is and what he had and has access to. But I do know where you’re coming from and at one time I might have agreed with you but as it’s said. The more you know.”

Well, I don't think anyone can definitively know, and it seems rather arrogant of all who present themselves so assuredly to know the answer to my ponderance. Don't you ponder any such things yourself?!? What is wrong with you people? There's not a thing wrong with a little wine, or a large Margarita. Even God condoned "hard drink" in the Old Testament. You guys make Jesus out to be so completely somber and stiff.
Excellent word, Mike.
so much treasure here🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
"Our fear is directly related to how much respect we have for that person". I completely agree, Mike. In direct reference to the giving of the TEN Commandments 👉NINE of which you keep👈 the Most High said this: *_Deuteronomy _**_5:29_**_ NKJV Oh, that they had such a heart in them that they would fear Me and always keep all My commandments, that it might be well with them and with their children forever!_*
I love this verse. Thank you! I had just quoted Rev 22:14 to one of the many Christians trying to tell others not to keep the Commandments. 14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. God bless!
.....what do you mean ? Nine of which you keep? Does this mean Mike does not keep Sabbath?.....oh .....boy I hope not....but I think you are right.
@@CanadianVacations That's exactly what I mean. Mike teaches people that it's up to them as to if they choose to keep the Sabbath. In fact, I have a very short video in which I rebuke Mike about this issue. It's entitled: _*Video 9: "Rebuking Pastor Mike Winger"*_. And, btw, my next video, which should be out soon, is about Romans 14.
@@sourmilkministries9445 Oh sure people can choose if they want to keep Sabbath but then....God can choose too that only those who keep it are His.
@@sourmilkministries9445 I listened to some of your vids, they are very good. You cut through the many lies like I've never heard - even with a bit of humour. You said it: Christianity is based on what pastors say the Bible means and NOT what the Bible means. Exactly....broken records.... lies repeated so often and so loud that they become believed. So we have the choice to keep Sabbath or not? And we have the choice to worship more than one god? We have to choice now to make graven images and worship idols? We have the choice now to use God's name in vain? Well....actually people do have this choice because we are given free will. BUT......there are blessings and curses accordingly. As for me I want to have the blessings and I know keeping (the correct) Sabbath bestows blessings. God bless you! Keep getting in the face of deceivers because the blind complacent sheep are in danger!
The warnings are all around the world, do not wait , turn to Jesus , we are living in the days of sorrows.2 Peter 3:9 (KJV) 9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. Come Lord Jesus!
So many tid bits I got out of this...Thanks Mike!!!
To be humble ❤️
Honestly, listening to this message, I see how terribly I fall short in every single area you describe. And I'm overwhelmed, not seeing how I can conquer any of it. I've given my life to the Lord, but I'm failing in such huge ways. I prayed for transformation, and do so on a semi-regular basis, but still find myself being horribly ungodly and becoming more demonic. I'm losing hope that I could ever reflect God's heart well in my life. Help.
When the pharaoh's wife tried to seduce Joseph he didn't just say "Ohh, uhm, sorry, I can't do that really :(" No, Joseph *ran* away, not even bothering with his cloak.
Jesus said if our right hand causes us to stumble we should cut it off. Not saying you should physically cripple yourself, but that you need to take drastic measures to flee from sin/evil, and it can be painful.
If you find yourself "horribly ungodly" then you should start running like Joseph. Cut a relationship. Uninstall a certain video game. Avoid a dark corner of your city. Block certain websites. Stuff like that.
How are you, brother? We are wretched, and it's why we need Christ. If and when you feel not good enough, it can be a good sign. When we get to the end of ourselves is where we learn to trust God, where we learn to depend in Him, where we learn to walk in faith, and so many other good things. Live one day at a time. Give us an update.
Very impressive young man! You are one of my online pastors that I like to listen to. You are an inspiration to all of us who haven’t gone to a church in years. I pray daily and am aware of my own shortcomings but do try to please God as much as able. God bless you and your fellowship!
You should go to church. Having fellowship with your brothers and sisters in Christ is amazing. Beware though of wolf's in sheep's clothing. Look for a bible believing church. God bless
Gogi Benny I looked around many years ago and saw too much hypocrisy in the churches. Yes, I agree that fellowship with the elect would be great, but the churches have too much politics for me.
@@drjohnschmuttermaier Fellowship with bros and sisters in Christ is a command whether we like it or not.....We are to edify our local body. The issue is you used the words for me.....The point is it is not for me, its for others. God Bless.
@@johndouglas4826 where does it say its a command
@John S, that would be here: "Hebrews 10:24-25
Let’s consider how to provoke one another to love and good works, not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching."
i enjoyed listening to this and found some inspiration. sometimes you talk a little fast and i don't get what you said but it made me back track the video and listen again more carefully.
If you are struggling to understand him because he talks fast, you can go into the settings of the video, press "playback speed," and set it to 0.75x. It will make Mike talk slower. Maybe that could help. :)

Thank you for going deeper than what I am able to read! As a new Christian, I want to just read the Bible. I just can’t. I really appreciate your interpretations. I am very interested in reading a chronological bible. Any suggestions? I only know of one.
I really appreciate your wisdom!!! I needed to hear this because I have so much to learn as a born again Christian. I ask The Lord to forgive me for the leaven I carry with me and to help me cut it out of my life.
Unfortunately, Mike's "wisdom" teaches you that it's acceptable to commit evil, and abominations. This is to say that like virtually all Christian pastors, he incorrectly teaches that you need not keep one of the very TEN Commandments (the Sabbath); as well as that you can eat unclean meats. The Messiah said that we will know false teachers by their fruit...

The old and new Testament are a series of cryptic riddles
An interesting thing I pointed out about the verse in Mark that you mentioned was what the blind man said when he was first opening his eyes after being given sight. He said, “I see men as trees, walking.” Was that just some random thing he said? Was it because his eyes were blurry at first? Or, was it interestingly a reference to something we find throughout scripture? What does the Bible say about Men? It says that the righteous "bear good fruit" and that the wicked "bear evil fruit". Clearly Men do not grow fruit of their bodies. So this is symbolic and metaphorical. Could what the blind man initially saw have been something spiritual that some of us missed? The moment I read that verse it jumped out at me like it had a spiritual meaning. He saw us like trees walking around. A very interesting thing to say, given that men are actually described in kind like trees throughout the Bible.
I thought about that too. I'm not sure if it does have any deeper spiritual meaning. Logically it could just simply be that hes never seen anything before but knew trees were tall. Hes likely sitting low , on the ground. So as his sight came and his brain is reconciling things for the first time, it simply appeared that way. Of course it could be both to, that and a deeper point.
@Weberman Elisheva Elaborate if you would. I don't quite understand what you are talking about. What? Jesus never did these things and he "doesn't exist"? Well considering that plenty of atheists also agree that Jesus existed, and considering there is evidence outside of the Bible that he lived, I don't understand where you're coming from. I can understand people doubting his divinity (though I don't myself), but denying he ever lived? No. There is evidence that he DID live. There were Romans, Jews, and others who wrote about him during the time he was said to be alive and after that.
I didn’t know this new word 🤔😁
Jesus also warned about the ONE LORD riddle that trinitarian can never understand for they rely in their own knowledge.
@Mike Winger Is a reply that I made to I'm just sayin', before his post that starts 'Another question', somewhere in your system waiting for moderation, as I cannot see it anywhere? Please tell me if you don't have it either or if there is a problem with it. Thank you.
Luke 11:41 "But give as alms those things that are within, and behold, everything is clean for you" is related to the "you should've done these without neglecting the others" verse...but idk what it means. Like if anyone can translate that sentiment/reword that sentence, I'd be grateful.
Lord was referring to a cup in a previous cup but he also meant us as a cup or vessel....so if we would give from a pure heart (inside of a cup) everything is clean from inside out.If you keep reading He compares them to nice looking tombs from outside but inside are full of bad stuff...hope that helps and if not let’s try again
@@josipdolic6391 that was the most inviting reply Ive ever received on YT haha. My question pertains to what "gives as alms" means--which I guess means from a pure heart, (2) what "those things that are within" refer to, and (3) what "everything is clean for you" refers to, which I *think means you dont have to wash your hands to remain clean ...but idk
So, He was really talking about the Pharisee's religion and way of life.
If Jesus warned people with a riddle he effectively only warned smart people.
I used to think like that too. But I myself admitted to God that though being raised in church I didn't understand the Bible. He made me a promise that if I would choose to submit my life to him and he gave me a specific task that if I willingly did this it would mean my whole life was now his to direct how he saw fit. I finally did and discovered that he teaches me, a mere babe insights that even pastors and teachers don't know. That's what he promised me he would do and he does. Become Jesus' disciple and he will teach you also the words of life. But apart from Jesus no man can understand the Bible for it all is spiritual and must be spiritually discerned.
@@ghostownaproach I used to think that, too. But I myself admitted to me that because of being raised in church I thought I could hear the voice of God. I was convinced to understand the bible, because God through the Holy Spirit revealed himself to me. That is a position I don't hold anymore. I admitted to me that the voice that I heard was my own.
@@paulschlachter4313 That's good. God wants truth in the inward parts. Don't assume that because you were doing that, that everyone claiming to be taught by the Holy Spirit is also only hearing their own voice. Today if you hear his voice, harden not your heart.
@@ghostownaproach So how then can I distinguish my own thoughts from the voice of God in a reliable way? How can you say with confidence that God made you the promise you stated above?
Exactly. He said He taught in riddles and parables so that some people might not understand.
Probably to reduce the number of souls who would fall due to rejection of His teaching. Like hiding drugs from children so they don't overdose: knowledge increases the gravity of sin, whereas, "if I had not spoken to them, they would not have sin."
Here are my thoughts on the leaven before I listen to this then I'll see how it compares to your thoughts after I post this... I think it has to do with false teachings as well as showing how things aren't always what they appear to be... so if you make two batches of dough, same amount in each batch and one is has a leavening agent and one doesn't... after they are baked the one with the leavening agent is going to look like it is more food when in actuality it is exactly the same amount as the unleavened bread...
