Yes, and we all understand the deal with rich old men and young women, but it’s also a part of our patriarchal society.
Male athletes get to act badly, and female athletes have to stay calm, again part of the patriarchy.
The bar scene isn’t just a bachelor party, and the main point of the lyrics in that section are about how men can get angry, or many other emotional reactions, and that’s ok, while women, especially women in public or leadership roles, may not.

Someone suggested that Taylor is wearing fries because she was referring to being “salty” and Katie was a hamburger because they had a “beef”. But ultimately the burger and fries can go well together. 🤷♀️🤣. Lover is not my favorite album of hers, but I did go to a Taylor swift embroidery party and chose “you need to calm down” as my design for the night.

The Miss Americana documentary has a brief segment where they were recording the 'Me!' song and Taylor happily explains that she wants the video to be like what's in her head all the time: cats, rainbows, unicorns, etc. Nailed it!
I lol’d at your reaction to the “hey kids, spelling is fun!” lyrics hahaha. A lot of people reacted negatively to the line which was why it was removed from the song, but I personally found it funny and silly lol.

You need to remember that lover came after reputation. Rep was dark and moody and lover is light. Taylor jokes saying she was on better mood. The first single was ME! with Easter egg about the new album. We didn't knew the name yet and ME! was the only singled release then she release you need to calm down then lover and the man was last. In the lover house Taylor shows are her different albums as rooms and she also uses in the the eras tour. Like debut is green , fearless is upside down (her breakout album , everything changed, red album she wears a yellow dress. 1989 is a fishbowl. She came super famous. Speak now is the purple room and the pink room is lover. The fans later figured folklore and evermore is the stairs. Midnights is the sky and stars
This album problem is the single choices at the time it had no #1 song and it considered kinda of flop but with the years cruel summer reached #1 without being a single and 5 years now it one of the most streamed album ever and its still top 10 on the billboard for recent albums despite being out in 2019
I agree. It's a great album with poor publicity choises, also the fact it came out almost half a year behind the pandemic didn't help.

I feel like the hall of hands giving "high fives" is more so metaphorical, in that often men get praised left and right, sometimes just for existing, where as women are not, unless it's related to physical features and misogynistic comments that often imply that women have certain roles that only they should be doing (IE personal assistant, secretary, receptionist, etc.). And when a woman is successful in the workplace (particularly one in which men usually are), they are often questioned as to what they did to get there because they couldn't have possibly just put in the work and actually earned it on their own.
The hamburgare is Katy Perry (who Taylor earlier had beef with) and Taylor (French fries) owns that she was a bit salty. And Katy was dressed up as a burger in one of her music videos. Bad blood is about the Katy Taylor feud

Do you see why Lover had a bit of a divisive start when the first taste we got of it was that trippy Lisa Frank MV after we were used to Rep?? We were waiting for the video to premiere and this absolutely insane and campy "spelling is fun" song came on and no one was expecting it.
Tho she did end up adopting that kitten and that was adorable.
Snake to butterflies means the end of reputation era (which was represented by snakes and darkness) to Lover era (the cute mood)
You should try reuploading the lover album reaction in a month or so, I heard somewhere that after a new Taylor album comes out the copyright claims on all her albums gets stricter for a couple months and then get relaxed again.

I! The music video of Me! and song were necessary for Taylor as a transition from Reputation and Lover. She needed the song to change the perspective of the darkness and how negative her life was on Reputation. Taylor brought the colors back to her life, she was in love and her reputation was recovering. Also, I don't understand why the song is so hated when songs and videos like California Girls, Barbie World and others are so accepted and practically serve the same purpose. They are the same. I don't think this is Lover's best song or even of her career, but that's okay. It's funny, charming and brilliant. If it had been the second or third single it would have been different. In my opinion, the era could have started with Cruel Summer and ended with Daylight.
i wish she had made death by a thousand cuts a single. made cruel summer the lead single. I like Me and i LOVE the music video for it. But i think as a lead single it put too much pressure on it etc. If the Lover music video came first? imagine.

Katy Perry was the burger. The burger/fries theory I have is: Taylor and Katy had 'beef' at one point, Taylor was 'salty'... but they've made up. And I think the word you were looking for was "kitch" -- that cheesy, colorful, retro 50s/60s kind of styling.

I can’t help but be bothered by how he missed the point of the man mv by always bringing up how women also do the stuffs being called out in the mv. It doesn’t have to be a competition of who’s worse tho, it’s about bringing light to how this kind of behavior is normalized in men but are antagonized in women, and that’s in no way justifying those actions. Exaggerated as it may be, that’s the reality of some men. But eh maybe I’m just nitpicking
The montage of their lives at the first 10min brings so much emotion without even a dialogue.
The part where he realized that ellie kept filling the adventure book also made me emotional. Even the most mundane things can be our own greatest adventure.

Watching these videos again except for ME! made me realize there is a lot of yellow and red. Lover is usually pink and blue. Her wearing a yellow dress in the red room is the only room where she doesnt match the room color or album vibe. YNTCD red curtain and red in her hair. Even he said there is a lot of red in these video. Yacht girls in The Man wore yellow bikinis. Were they easter eggs that Fearless & Red would be the first rerecordings? Im a 2021 swiftie so i was wondering what the long time swifities thought back then. Its definitely obvious that Fearless backwards on The Man wall was but we know now The Man wall shows the rerecords in the shape of an infinity sign

34:00 it breaks my heart that people see it that way. i’m sure in some cases it’s true, but in a lot it’s not. i’m 22 and my partner is 50. he’s not my sugar daddy, he’s not loaded, he doesn’t buy me designer bags, and I don’t want him to. i’m with him because I love him and we have very similar interests and he makes me genuinely happy. I was 21 when we met, and I definitely wasn’t groomed lol (I intentionally sought him out already knowing his age). i’m well aware that our age gap is a taboo, but I wish people would get to know us before making assumptions.
I want to add to the smashing face onto cake topic that cakes have decorative stuff that could get into the eyes and even worse, sticks to keep all the cakes on top of each other when you get the tall ones. You don’t want to become widow for impaling your new husband/wife with the cake in the worse case, or having them blind or something…

“Spelling is Fun” is the opposite of an ad-lib, so a “subtract-lib” maybe? People made fun of it so she took it out.
Honestly, I loved it. She loves words. I picture her as a kid making games out of being a good speller. Her love of words is directly relevant to her being such a good song writer. I wish people hadn’t made fun of it so hard.

Oh man, The Man reaction is hard to watch. Anyone have a link to a good book breaking down misogyny for Jim? 😂. It drives me crazy when people take a systemic problem and minimize it by comparing it to their personal experiences. The video is displaying generalities in an exaggerated specific example to make a point in a few seconds vs. the huge amount of time to fully explain it. Any women watching the man understands exactly what each scene represents because we have all lived it to some degree.
