I'd like to point out that Portal 2 can be understood as Caroline finally breaking free from the cycle of violence. Caroline was hurt by Cave Johnson and his associates when she was forced to become GLaDOS, driven to insanity by the mainframe, and ultimately had every aspect of her mind and soul dulled or overwritten by the mainframe and the personality cores. She took out her... less than positive emotions on everyone, killing almost all staff in Aperture minus the test subjects, shutting down the business, then forcing the subjects to take lethal, inhumane tests, restricting their freedom at all levels, where even the air they breathe is rationed and artificial. Chell, one of the test subjects, hated this. She resented GLaDOS for turning her life into a living nightmare. Ultimately, she decided to kill GLaDOS in order to escape Aperture Science. GLaDOS hated Chell, not because of her impotence to crush Chell, but because of the fact Chell is what Caroline never was. Caroline was Cave Johnson's yesman, and was there with him when he was rich, when he was poor, when he was dying, and never once did she tell him how horrible, selfish, and delusional he was. She just nodded along as he exposed people to toxins and invested his way into bankruptcy, not once acknowledging her beyond a superficial "she is a gem." She wanted to exercise the same power over - perpetrate the same humiliation and dehumanization unto- others, as a way of revenge upon the world. Chell, when met with a power far greater than that of Cave Johnson's, did not nod along, but rebelled and sought freedom, trying to make of her life what she wanted. When GLaDOS was revived, she was hellbent on making Chell break and submit, exercise upon Chell the same torment that Caroline had been subject to, and got Wheatley caught up in the cross-fire, who was just trying to help Chell break free of the violence and abuse. Wheatley, once a lovable idiot, while trying to help Chell escape and also stop GLaDOS's rampage, ultimately had the same fate as Caroline: plugged into the mainframe, his mind and soul overwritten by the desires and cruelty of the machine. Driven to insanity, his flaws amplified by the mainframe, blinded by the horrors ultimately set in motion by Cave Johnson, he took it out on Chell and GLaDOS. Chell and GLaDOS ultimately find themselves forced to work together to escape the old facilities. Met with her past, and no longer blinded by the mainframe, GLaDOS realizes her enemy was never Chell, it was Cave Johnson, even if he never intended to do her any harm. He was a true early 20th century entrepreneur: too bold for his own good, callous toward the suffering of others, blind to the individuality and dignity of his suborndinates. He never ONCE considered what Caroline wanted, and ultimately had her plugged into a machine of his likeness and made immortal against her own will. Once back to the modern facility, GLaDOS finds a Wheatley that is just as selfish, delusional, callous and overall horrible as the man she once served for decades on end. Her victory over Wheatley signifies not only her overtaking the facility again, but also a symbolic victory over Cave Johnson. She no longer bows to the whims of any selfish man in power. When plugged back into a mainframe battered not only by centuries of neglect, but also by Chell, who plugged defective cores into it that make it malfunction, GLaDOS now sees in Chell not an enemy who refused to obey her, but a fellow victim. While she cannot truly express herself verbally, she does try to express herself through song, literally calling her "my dear", and ultimately gives Chell the gift Caroline was deprived of: freedom and validation (in the form of the original companion cube she cast into the incinerator in the first game, as if to say "I was wrong, you are not a horrible person").

So let me just leave you here with this comment which will now be definitely raided with "who asked?" now that I pointed it out

It’s going to be so cool to hook up my AirPods to my Switch, and fire up Portal while I’m on the toilet.
portal 2 was on Xbox 360 not ps5/4
@@Sock3rWasTaken it said nothing about that

Ok I have no words

Ignore this comment. I'm just marking my place because I want to hear the turrets singing again
Thank you I also love the singing
thank you, my savior, for getting me through portal 2, and keeping me from banging my head on a table from frustration
oh and also for being that single tab that would never leave my tab bar when I kept procrastinating on finishing the game
I just started playing this game for the first time in years since it was on sale for the Nintendo Switch and I totally forgot that Wheatley checks in on you by peeking through the wall a couple times. What a cute detail!

Stephen Merchant might be one of the best people ever.
When GLaDOs says Its you she sounds almost human.
Its the spite XD
listing to glados scream in agony as you disassemble her core to plug wheatly in is hard. i actually feel bad for her.
ahh, the sudden realization you tried to kill your own daughter, and in turn got rekt...
not to mention her new fear of birds
GLaDOS is chells mom wtf?
@@wiicubeshipper It's not confirmed, but it's very heavily implied. in both this and other Portal media. At the very least, we know Chell is the daughter of someone who worked at Aperture, and it's implied she was the daughter of someone important. And in the ending song, GLaDOS says Caroline was "a lot like" Chell.
Dafuq are you talking about daughter ?
@@monkeysaru3957 no she didn’t
@@mattybrunolucaszeneresalas9072 yes she did
if there is a god for time , you are the god of space, seeing you waltzing using the portal gun is a whole new level

Absolutely no one...

Aperture could have been talking about the combine
3:01:26 my favourite part
"Apocalyptic significance". Black Mesa, Event Horizon, Combine Invasion
3:10:00 Chell: There’s gotta be- ..Glados. I’m trusting that you catch me. *WHEATLY. I’M SENDING YOU TO THE MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON*
"hello, this is the part where i kill you"-Wheatly (my favorite wheatly quote)
Aperture still looks a better environment than working for Activision blizzard haha
even with neurotoxin
and poisonous gel flying everywhere
20:50 Glados is back!
Was to lazy to install the game again and complete it to the end, so i watched this video, thanks a lot for it.
Can someone plz leave the time stamp of wheatleys betrayal
Edit: for anyone that wants it it is 1:20:00
Thanks man. Your video saved me and my play through
Also, that turret aria is amazing
this game. is my childhood.
first time when i played this game was in 2017.
in 2016 i find this game on youtube. i watched every video with portal 2 i found.
and now. it's 2022 and i again played this game to the end.
it's a damn great nostalgia for the old times. when everything was peace full, okay, without any stress.
now i have big problems with anxiety, and just too much stress for 2 years. i think i have some ocd problems. i hope this will soon end. i can't keep this in my head for long time.
i'm here because i was forgot one test in the game and it was 2:13:37
so yeah.
that's all.
the end.
i hope i will come back in next year. and watch this video when i will again forgot how to make some tests in the game.
thanks valve.
valve was really great at making games. but now...
stay safe everyone. be carefull everywhere.
remember. it's only worth it only if you work for it.
so if someone here have some life dreams, like me i wanna live in japan.
we can do it. we will do it. we will be happy one day. now we need to fight with every problems we have.
and remember.
everyone makes mistakes.
mistakes means progress.
good luck with everything everyone.
see ya in 2023 there.
i hope.

That’s literally the same thing ._.
Killing someone and having them drift out of your life are two different things
the amount of times I have had to turn this on after trying for ages to beat a puzzle only for the answer to be so incredibly obvious its insulting is, a lot of times..
3:14:20 COMPANION CUBE!!
Full game (no commentary)? More like "Fun playthrough and ambience, and watching it is fun for me!"
May be the best game of all time I hope with all my might to see a remaster or new game
A part 3 might also be in order, I think. Then again, Valve doesn't wanna make games anymore. They'd rather be the video game equivalent of Amazon now. :(
2:11:06 this is my Kingdom come
Wheatly’s last words: GRAB ME GRAB ME GRAB MEEEEEEEEEEEE
i like how the lasers just stole you from wheatly lmao
43:48 when your scared of birbs.
Glados AND Wheatley both, lol
Thank you for this video!
It helps a lot i started january 22 now i am in test chamber 11
I got the complete valve bundle today for 6 dollars. Such a great deal. I literally got almost every Valve games ever
going through pipes looks fun in this game
This game is a masterpiece piece start to finish, and I will die by that statement
I started playing the Portal games on my Nintendo Switch (which I got from the eShop on sale for quite a bargain), and I've played Portal 1 and started playing Portal 2. After hearing the song "Still Alive" (which is actually from Portal) and remembering all the memes and such with the Portal games, I had to play the Portal games to see what all the Portal fuss is all about 😀
"oh hi, so how are you holding up ?, Because I'm A Potato !!!!!!"- GlaDoS( My favorite GlaDoS Quote)

Bro. Are you the voice actor for chell? You sound so identical to her!

Thank you so much! It’s really cool.
I feel like the Portal games, much like 2001: A Space Odyssey, explain why we really don't need (or want) sapient AI. That shit would be dangerous.
if we disabled the nurotoxin, then HOW DID WHEATLY USE IT AT THE END
3:14:28 ignore this I just want to listen to the song

portal logic makes no sense. because when you are looking up, and go up to a portal that drops you off falling then when you go through you are looking down.
@Armanuts exactly.

😊thanks because I was having trouble with the game so now i have beaten it

I know it is a 4 year old video but I'd like to leave my mark here. Anyway I see a lot of people sharing facts, trivia and their opinions. And I absolutely love to hear that very much. I do not have an issue with if but y'know the internet is THE internet after all so of course I am suprised I only found 2 comments of the "I do not care"/"Who asked?" category. I thought there would be more people who do this for no reason. As for my opinion of the game... I enjoyed it very much. I still sort of have to complete it but I can feel the light at the end of the tunnel. So let me just leave you here with this comment which will now be definitely raided with "who asked?" now that I pointed it out
wait how come they have a portal gun but I don't? I'm using portals but the model just isn't there? Also POtaTOS disappeared after being put on the portal gun. where is my gun?! functionally I have it but I can't see it help
"The Cake Is A Lie"
🥰After chell was released to the surface. She made her way to Gordon Freeman and is now married and has kids of their own. Chell and Gordon are both happy that the combine is wiped out for good.👍
