Only bested by the LCD-X or Focal Clear/////though these are a little more neutral and have best build quality. Love min in the all-black. Great review
I have yet to try a better headset than the ndh 30's. I have tried alot of different headsets in hifi stores and studios. The ndh 30's beats all ive tried. Exellent for mixing. The most serious headset Ive ever tried. Now I want neumann speakers😂
I also tried these with the ATH-R70x and 650s and my experience of the Neumann's was just about exactly like yours. I liked the 650s as well but didn't work as well with my glasses, and the ATH-R70x were a totally different beast but impressive design I thought.
Love your reviews. A question if you happen to see this: I am looking for headphones to do all my mixing and mastering since I have no space or monitors suitable. I would love these but I am wondering if the VSX ones will be better for my use case. I especially would love to have a good way to monitor bass which I hear works quite well with the VSX. Thanks!
Many thanks, I can’t in good conscience recommend VSX (although slate do offer a free 30 day trial so that’s an option). I find the NDH30s far more neutral even without sonarworks, but I suppose you could look into the Audeze range. I’ve not tried them but everyone raves about them, I mean they should be great for the prices they charge 😅
Awesome, I really appreciate your take on the sound guys rating of these awesome head monitors! I sub! And when I got mines, NDH30, I heard the dodging bullet time scene from the Matrix and My God! ❤👂❤
very neumann-y, I happen to dislike the mids on both their speakers and headphones because of how forward the presentation is compared to the rest of the spectrum, to the point where they risk to become a distraction in certain scenarios. By all means these are very accurate and they are for sure very good monitors but they are not for everyone and if I were to use them I would have to change to another pair to be able to notice annoyances in the higher frequencies.
I stand by it, plus 97.7% thumbs up for this video would suggest otherwise. Anyway it wasn’t an overall criticism of soundguys themselves (I actually like their website) but that their scoring system which I still believe isn’t suitable for the product. These cans are simply not 6.2/10!
I sold mine… they are good but the frequency response changes depending how they sit on your head. The build quality is great also and they are not too heavy. The 1990 are built great but even with SoundID the top end was just too much for me. But it gave great detail in the low and mids that remind you of the HD 600/ 650. LCD X for me was great also but too heavy for me and the tone didn’t work for me even with SoundID. But when I got the MM-500 it was home over. So now I use the HD 600 and the MM-500 exclusively. I’m like you… very sensitive to treble.
true, they do change f response depending on the position on the head but for me it's more fun, like I'm having two pairs of completely different headphones.
Enjoy guys!

Have you tried the Sennheiser 490 Pros? I didn’t like them with the producer pads, but the mixing pads sound pretty good.
@@c-samleystudios1573 No but I want to. Ive heard its supposedly very good
Great review! Thanks. They are good also to play and study guitar or are only for mastering pourpose? Thanks! 👋🏻.
Many thanks, oh yes definitely! I play lots of guitar and these have become my absolute favs 👍🏻

Great review. Hope you will compare them to the DT 1990 Pros in the future.
great review.

Great review! Does it translate well when it comes to electronic / pop music? (asking for mixing and mastering purposes)

Great video. I’m buying these in a month or two. Cheers.

Naming others while rubbishing their reviews doesn’t leave your readers with a good impression of your review.

That was the deciding factor on me getting rid of them because I needed it and wanted more consistency.
Mabye just have them the same way on when using them?
Interesting as the Neumanns and MM-500's have a VERY similar frequency response
