Think you so much for your video!! I live in Texas and last year we had that horrible freeze that lasted 7-9 days below freezing with no electricity. I was the only house on our street that had a generator. I own the Preditor 8750 generator and it handled my all electric home with no problem. Only thing was it went through a lot of gas and all the gas stations close to me also had no power to turn the gas pumps on. We had stored enough gas to last us all but one day so we were one of the lucky ones. I bought the same carburetor you just demonstrated in case a freeze happened again and the gas pumps freeze again I have the choice of propane if needed. They had plenty of propane tanks available that week and this duel fuel carburetor would have helped alot. I have the carburetor but was dreading putting it on because I didn't know if the propane part needed special adjusting and I didn't want to messed it up. Now that I have seen your video I have full confidence I can do it.👌👍
Bought this converter and easy to install......works great for propane. For natural gas had to get larger hose with reducer a few inches from regulator. No drilling g into frame Ike other conversion kits
Thanks for posting! I was reading up on the generator I bought three weeks ago for the last hurricane and never needed it. After researching some reviews on it, I read about a LP conversion. I had no idea!. I was disappointed when I bought this generator and it was gas only but it’s all Harbor freight had during the last hurricane run. Thanks so much once again! I’ll keep the generator and put the new carb on!
I just finished my installation of the Propane Kit you used on my Predator 9000 and I run into a problem with the gas tank vent to the airbox interfering with the carb regulator. My airbox is plastic and I figure it is different from your metal air box, Instead of sending it back and taking a chance on another one not working I decided to modify the plastic box so it no longer interfered with the regulator. I will fiberglass the part I removed and paint it and it will look like the original. The generator started right up and seemed to run just fine. I wonder if the kit will support the Predator 9000 at 100% but right now it starts and runs great, thanks for your video.
We used to put a light coat of wheel bearing grease on the carb gaskets to make them re usable and still be able to seal without them sticking to one side or the other.
Nice video. I purchased the exact same generator in January. I purchased the same carburetor as well to run on ng. My only issue is it appears that the air filter box has been modified since you posted this video. The vent line for the gas tank comes into the back of the filter box instead of the side like on yours. Well, this prevents the air filter box from going back on as the regulator on the carburetor is right where the vent comes into the box. I think I will drill a hole in the side of the box for this vent line and hopefully that will allow the box to go on as it should
The primary regulator coming off the tank should be set to 11 inches of water column and be able to handle at least 80,000 BTUs or more depending on the wattage size of the generator. Also curious if you are able to adjust the air fuel mixture at the carburetor? This a HIPA carb? If these are preset then I would be concerned about the engine not having the proper mix. Running to Rich on propane makes the engine run hotter. It's the opposite of liquid gasoline which if you burn rich the engine runs cooler, and lean is hotter.
Dude because of you I was able to do this flawlessly. I haven’t been able to run it because I don’t have a line yet but I do have a couple questions. 1. When using propane do you still open the gas valve? Do you still turn the choke handle at all or is the prime button/valve you’re pressing act as the choke/prime for propane? 2. If I prefer to use gas does that propane nipple have to be covered/sealed? When you disconnect your propane and run gasoline what do you do with the open propane nipple on there? I don’t really understand carburetors but I’ve got the gas company coming out tomorrow to put a propane hookup at the regulator coming into my home so I have the option to run propane from our 1000 gallon tank instead of gas just want to understand how to toggle back and forth with both applications. Thank you again for such a great guide!
1:40 That is so that you can drain the gas from the float bowl. 8:08 That is the purge button. If you shut off the propane feed then you have to purge the air after turning on the propane. If you do not turn off the propane supply then you don't have to purge. Think about it. The permanent generators, like Generac that are propane-fueled, don't need to be purged because the propane is always on.
Thanks for the video. I just got my carb in (exactly like yours) and was glad to be able to see an installation. The instructions are poor at best. I ordered mine from V Power Equipment. They have different carbs depending on the size of your generator. They do cost more but come with a properly sized propane regulator and gaskets.
When you first started it it was flooding out because the pressure was to high. Is there no regulator on the carb kit? If nit I would be worried about running it to lean and burning up the motor.
@@Ungovernable74 was trying to figure it out myself, found it and figured I'd share. seems a 5/8 hose has a 3/8 inner diameter as well. So I ordered this one....www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NO1O6ZC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
@@JackMasternone well, I did the conversion, installed the hose I bought from your link and I can seem to get it started on propane. Gas is fine. I've experimented with different pressures on the dial and I can get it to start. Have you had any luck?
Great job with the detailed instructions. I just ordered the same unit off Amazon to install on my HF Predator 8750. I hope it won’t require the modification of the air filter that many of the reviews mention. Also, I’m sure you’ve figured out that when using LP like you were, when you shut off the engine with the kill switch the way you did you aren’t actually shutting off the propane from the tank. Just an observation that you might make sure you consider for safety reasons. 👌 Again, great video.
Hey Soat Mon, I completed my conversion today but had to do some modifications to the air intake box. I actually have a 2020 model 8750 and Predator switched the location of the air intake hose. The air intake box is actually entirely different than the one on your 9000. The fuel tank air hose is on the side of the 9000 but on the back of my 8750. Long story short I found another video thankfully that actually addressed a work around. Not a huge deal breaker and we are in business! 👌
@@mintytoo if you have the 9000 I believe you will be able to complete the conversion without the modification. I have the 8750 and it required the work around. Don’t fret it either way though. If you have even basic ingenuity skills I’m sure you can figure it out. Keep doing searches until you find what you need. Good luck 👍
I just got the predator 9000 because we lost power on a monday and power may not be restored until saturday. I’m hoping to get this conversion kit soon too since I’m more apt to keep lp than gasoline at home.
Please make sure you watch this video about generator safety ua-cam.com/video/I1jT3ANENvI/v-deo.html everyone really needs to agree with generator safety. I just hope you stay safe and hope you like this video. Thank you. I’m not trying to force you. I just hope you stay safe
I bought this generator yesterday and would love to be able to hook up to my 250 gallon propane tank which only runs our stove., but I would also like the option to use gas as well if needed to run it somewhere else. Did i hear you correctly when tou said this part will allow it to run off propane OR gasoline? Great vid by the way and thanks for the Amazon link. The cheapest one I was able to find so far was $72.00.
It is a nice idea to run on propane but the tank low pressure gauge needs changed to a water manometer for $10. 11” of H2O is 0.4 PSI. Get a good bourdon tube type gauge, PTFE thread sealant or teflon tape if you like that stuff (I never used it) then make accurate adjustments. Push the button is purging air from tank to carb to allow it to run. Running on natural gas is a little more tricky with size, load, speed, require adjustments unless the speed and load are consistent. ASE Master Tech since 1978 - Retired
I installed the same one as you, did you have any trouble with it running a little rough? Like it has a miss, i played with the flow screw. Bottom it out to 4 full turns and no change. Any advice you can give me would be appreciated, thanks.
flow screw is probably for the gasoline, read thru most of this and seems adjusting the gas pressure at the regulator should help. Some here running less than 1 lb pressure
8mm and 10mm nut drivers are needed. Still trying to figure out the hose diameter. For the wire tabs, i used a cabinet flat head to push the bottom in and they came off
Thanks. I did the same but cannot get it past sputter on LPG. I do not have NG out back as of yet. Runs fine on gasoline. What about that orange switch and the one black one (as shown at 0:07) on the bottom of the spring covered tubing at bottom of carb. You didn't mention how those are set. Any advise?
The electrical wire on the bottom of the float bowl is to stop the gasoline from entering the engine after the engine has been turned off. It is not technically needed on propane or natural gas. The tubing with the spring on the outside goes to the float bowl to drain the gasoline when changing over from gasoline to propane or natural gas. At 0:03 I believe is the mixture screw for smooth running. It is in front of his index finger.
The link to the carb indicate that this is for a 4.5-5.5KW generator. Have you been able to test the generator at full load and validate the carb can handle the 9KW?
I was worried about that as well when I bought it but it seems to work fine and appeared to be the exact same carburetor as the original just with the propane port. I figured for the cost why not try it and it worked out.
Again, Great video! Now for the bad news. It does not fit the new model generator. The latest model Predator 9000 has a different air box. The inlet is in a bad spot. I had to loosen the bracket that goes to the new carburetor and leave it dangling so I could rout the air inlet behind it. I still made it work but my carb inlet is dangling so I will have to strap it up with a zip tie or something.
When you run it on gas have you noticed it surging. The factory choke butterfly isnt spring loaded but these propane conversion one are. When I have it running on propane runs great. Switch to gas has a surging to it. Have to run it on half choke to run good. Amazon replaced it because I thought something was wrong but the second does the same thing.

when I first did this, the generator would start up just fine on propane and gas. Now, it wont start on propane. What do you think could be the problem?
I'd love to see it hooked up to natural gas to see how it performs. I use ng on my smaller 3500 watt gen now but thinking of going to a bigger unit. This carb looks to be ideal if it works. Thanks for the Vid. :)
*NOT FOR NATURAL GAS !!!* the link provided takes you to Amazon where product description says LP/CNG conversion kit. Gasoline left in the generator becomes stale and useless, gas tanks accumulate rust and sediment, gasoline may be hard to find in a large power outage.

Thanks a million, man! Quick Question!? So 1 pound of propane burns around the same as 1/2 gallon of gas? Mow much more inefficient is the Predator? I ordered the carb, just worried that it won't fit the new model 9000. The vid is pretty new, so I think it is the same... I'll try it!
When I plug in a three prong extension cord it trips my outlet breaker. When I add a 2 prong reducer it works fine. Any ideas. I wouldn’t think the ground plug would cause it to trip the breakers.
On any conversion set up from gasoline to LP, CNG or natural gas you need to install a solenoid valve in the supply line held open by generator's electrical. Without this, if your generator fails for any reason other than fuel supply, you will have your alternative fuel pouring out of the air box till you notice your generator has stopped working. If you are sleeping or away from the house this could get very expensive/dangerous. Same safety concept as the thermocouple on your hot water heater. If you have no idea what I am talking about, you should find someone locally near you that does.
Isn’t that what the 2 wires he connected was for? I didn’t hear any propane hissing when it shut off. I need to know this because I just bought this generator and about to order this conversion kit.
Yeah sorry. It appears so. Not sure how I missed that. Would make sense they built in a safety, but with stuff from China you never know. Just make sure it’s working properly before you put in service.
@@davidcollins5489 yeah. I got my generator the other day. I was going to order the conversion kit but I don’t think it’ll fit the new ones. The airline to the fuel tank plugs into the back of the breather box instead of the side and the kit would be in the way then. So I gotta figure out what to do now.
@@Shawn-rq4py seems like they are always changing the design. I imagine you can make it work... you just have to be a little creative ( and see what other people are doing on UA-cam ). As for that wiring to carburetor, I did some Google research and realized I was thinking in cheap lawn mower mode where starting and stopping is accomplished by grounding the ignition circuit ( that spring loaded safety lever you have to hold against regular handle when running ). The Predator has a Start/Stop switch which controls a fuel shut off solenoid. It is not really serving the same purpose as when you hook it up to your conversion kit, but probably gets the job done just as well. With the gas tank, if engine fails, gas will not continue to flow as the turning engine is what draws it in. With a natural gas connection, if engine fails the natural gas would not stop. So just be aware of this... if shut-off fails ( stuck open ) running on gas, it is not a big deal... engine stops, gas flow stops. if shut-off fails ( stuck open ) running on natural gas, it can be a big deal... engine stops , natural gas keeps on coming...
The conversion carb you linked indicates it's only good for 4.5-5.5kW. Your generator is nearly 9kW, double their low end estimate. Have you run at full load yet?
I bought the carb listed in your description, and I have the same generator. The installation went fine, and the generator runs fine on the gasoline side, but when I turn on the propane it leaks from somewhere in the carburetor. It's not a slow leak either, it sounds like I forgot to put something in place, but everything looks OK.
it could also be the regulator valve you use on the tank. The first time i did one of these conversions the generator wouldn't stay/start running and it seemed like gas was leaking. I found an adjustable regulator and set it pretty low it started and ran great and didn't leak. These do not need much gas pressure to function(and in my case too much was preventing it from running properly)
Best way to go right there if you’re running on natural gas and/or propane your neighbors ain’t gonna come over and try and borrow gas off of you for their generator during a power outage you can simply tell them I don’t keep gasoline around here cause I don’t run my generator on it. Also one thing I have found we had a power outage in my area some years back that lasted a little over three weeks and you may not be able to afford gasoline every day even if you turn it off for a little while for three weeks straight it will cost you a small fortune another thing I ran into during the outage was at first I drove around the gas stations to get more gas because I only had what was in the generator and I think maybe a gallon or two extra and none of the gas stations in my area could sell gas because the power was out. I had to drive for quite a ways to find some,,,that was not convenient at all,,,,propane last a long time you can buy those 100 pound cylinders and have it set up that way,,,,however you may be better off just a running natural gas,,,your power will be reduced a little bit on propane and natural gas but with a generator that size I believe you’d still be OK.
I hadn't thought about the difficulty of actually getting gas from a station to fill it but now that you point it out, that could be a real problem if the outage was wide spread. Thanks for adding your experience.
Good evening, I really appreciate the video. I have the predator 7000/8750 (63085/63088) generator. I see you posted that it does run on natural gas. I do not have compressed NG at my home. It is regular natural gas from the provider. Will this work or do I need to order something else to convert the tip from CNG to NG.
I think it would work from what others have said but have not tested it myself as I only use propane. Some of the reviews on Amazon said that it worked for them...but on real life experience for me.
Late to the video but I’m curious about the propane consumption. How long does it run under load on a typical propane bbg grill bottle? And if anyone has done any comparisons on cost of the diff fuel types under load???
In your review of this gen, you broke in on gas then converted. Is this an important step? We have the 8750 and have it set up on propane but was used with gas first. But were going to be buying this 9000 to convert, but wonder if we need to break in on gas first?
I don't really know to be honest. I saw multiple people suggest it and it makes since as gasoline has some lubrication in it and I figured that may help the piston seat better and since it comes set up for gas I figured why not break it in that way. Good luck with your generator.

Soat Mon, Thanks for this video. I noticed the carb in the Amazon link says it's for an Output: 4.5-5.5KW generator. That's only half the output of the 9000. Have you had any issues with your generator not running correctly? Did the 1 lb of pressure seem sufficient? Can a motor be run too lean on propane and cause damage? I had a propane line run from my large propane tank for a Generac whole house generator but I've read some bad reviews and it's way more expensive! The 9000 is on sale now so I'm going to pull the trigger. I had no idea that I could find a conversion to LP for the Predator, especially so cheap. Thanks again.
Yeah I was worried about the size of the carb as well but as I read the reviews on it others had used it for the 8750 generator so I gave it a try. Works great, as I said in the video I think it's the exact same carb with a propane jet. I don't know of any damage that a lack of propane would cause, just low power if you are not delivering enough but I have not had that issue. Good luck on yours, I hope it works well for you!
* I bought a variable presure regulator and run it less than one pound. Once the engine is running the regulator can be adjusted -- if too lean or rich the motor runs rough. * There is a valve at the bottom of the regulator to drain the GASOLINE float bowl. GREAT as GAS gums and corrodes the carburetor, and I will NEVER run gasoline again. * LP gas BURNS CLEAN, combusts with a little less force, so the engine should last MUCH LONGER.
Charles Clever thanks for the info. I still haven’t even started my generator. I’ve decided to put it out by my shop instead of by my house. I can back feed from there and the generator will be far enough away so I should barely hear it. Trying to finish up the electrical and plumbing now.
I was concerned about that too but the carb and throat sizes are identical so it shouldn’t affect the aspiration at all. I’m sure there are adjustments if needed. Great vid, thanks.
How about some kind of update , how has it been running, have you had any issues, does it use a lot of propane compared to gas, what do you like what would you have done different. Thank you for the information I'm about to do the samething and I'm trying to figure out if I want to go this way or with a true tri-fuel conversion $36 vs $179. I would like to go the $36 way if it works thanks for any information you can provide...
Unfortunately I don't have a lot of information to help you. I use it as a backup generator and haven't needed it since I set it up other than testing it a couple of times. I would definitely do it again. The carburetor I put on is identical to the one I took off except for the propane part. They look like they are made by the same factory. Good luck with yours!
Hello I’m in Florida I have the 8750 model number 63086 and Iam needing a new carburetor will this conversion be capable with that unit we are about to get a hurricane this coming week and come to find out my carburetor isn’t working
Lost power yesterday and couldn't start due to gummed up carb! I think I'm going to do this conversion! Any average runtime estimates on a 5gal tank at 1/2 load or so?
That was my thought and why I didn't order it. I went with a tri-fuel kit, which cost much more. I know I will be getting the full wattage output of the generator. What someone needs to do is test the RPM's, hertz and wattage output under load. I suspect the wattage output will be less.
Should have asked you in the first comment....What are the wires for going to the carburetor for. What is their purpose? Have never seen that before on a small engine. And Thank you for the video.
It does do 220v Two 3-Prong, duplex NEMA #5-20 120 V GFCI One 3-Prong, NEMA #L5-30 twistlock 120 V One 4-Prong, NEMA #L14-30 twistlock 120 V / 240 V One DC Outlet 12 VDC The wires on the carburetor are to shut off the fuel if you lose oil pressure. I hadn't seen them on a small engine either.
Very interesting indeed. Will that generator do 220 Volts. Like for a well pump and thank you for the link to the carburetor. Good to get ready for the time when a generator may be needed.
So just want to be sure, a low pressure regulator is what you need. I purchased and installed the carburetor and got the regulator recommended by Amazon. Generator runs on gas but thus far it won't start on propane. Can you make a recommendation as to what I should do?
It has a selector to change from gas to propane. Did you switch it over? If that's not the problem you may need a higher pressure regulator, I was using about 1 pound of pressure.
I have an Onan HP6500 genset and can't get it to fire up. Not much different from your setup. Was wondering how you're setting your choke when starting up: closed, mid-way, or fully open? I'm running about 1 PSI to the carb -- could that little be flooding it?
I don't really know. There are too many variables. Start with the basics to figure it out. You have to have fuel, air and spark. Make sure you have all 3.
Has anyone tried on natural gas feedback says for cng not natural gas from house also another site has carb. For $62 looks the same and they say you need to buy air box for additional 24 that you can drill hole and put hose into it any advice appreciated
I'm running natural gas from my garage hook up to my amazon carb and it runs great, If you get the natural gas/propane carb you don't need to do anything to the air box.
How do you adjust th mixing screws with this carb? I'm running natural gas and it only runs when half choked. It cuts off when choke is completely off. Also, what does the on/off value do on this carb. On mine, it doesn't do anything that I can tell.
I order the carburetor you said to order and Amazon sent me the wrong Carburetor the primer is on the right side it's not the same as you have. The link you gave. Is that the right part number?
I got funky stuff when I clicked the link too. The first time, it showed an entirely different carb. The second time, it shows a carb that looks identical, but it says it is for a smaller generator.
Here is a reminder about portable generator safety: everyone really needs to see this safety reminder to make sure. This advice is just to make sure that everyone is aware of all the warnings and it’s just to remind people to be careful using portable generators. Generators can be dangerous if not used carefully. Every year, hundreds of people die or get injured when using portable generators due to carbon monoxide poisoning and electrocution. Make sure you are using your generator carefully and keeping others safe as well. There is something very serious that everyone should always be aware of when using generators. Some people do run their generator indoors which is not safe and that increases the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning which can cause death of family and you. Some people run their generator in wet conditions which can electrocute them. Please remember that you should never run your generator indoors. Remember that carbon monoxide is an odorless and colorless gas that you cannot see or smell. Carbon monoxide is a silent killer. Keep that in mind. Make sure your generator is 15-20 feet away from your house and away from doors, windows, and vents. Never use your generator in your porch too. Having a carbon monoxide detector is very important against generator safety. Some people also allow children to go near the portable generator which could pose risks. We need to keep an eye on our children making sure that they are not near the portable generator so they won’t get electrocuted or burned by the generator which is dangerous. A locking enclosure also keeps kids safe. A generator shed might look like a tempting place to explore, or take cover during a game of hide and seek, but a generator is a dangerous piece of equipment that can cause injury. It says on the manual that we should also keep children away at all times from the portable generator to avoid injuries. Please do not allow a child or unqualified people to operate the portable generator. Just because some manuals missed what should be listed doesn’t mean it’s safe to do. Always follow the generator safety rules when using portable generators. Generators pose electrical risks. If you need to use your generator during wet weather, you need a generator tent to protect your generator from getting wet. Don’t let your generator get wet. Keep your generator dry and before using your generator, please make sure your hands and your generator is dry. Do not wear loose clothing when operating the generator. Everything that is said on the generator’s operating manual should not be ignored. Never smoke cigarettes near the generator. Please keep flammable things away from the generator. Never overload your generator too. Your generator can catch fire. Never ever try to plug a generator cord into a wall outlet to avoid back feeding. Back feeding your generator is dangerous. Always turn on your generator first before plugging in appliances and shut off the appliances before turning your generator off. Use a heavy duty cord for your generator and the cord should not be worn out. All the instructions should be followed carefully. Never refuel your generator while it’s running. No this carburetor will use propane/natural gas or gasoline that is what it means by dual fuel. You just turn a valve to choose which one. It's confusing because it says dual fuel and then talks about LPG and CNG but they are counting those two as one option and gasoline as the other. I have used it on gasoline and propane but have not used it on natural gas. Hope that helps!
Thanks for your help. I missed the part when he told about the carb. When you want to go to natural gas what do you do? Sorry for being a bother. Really great video.
*NOT FOR NATURAL GAS !!!* the link provided takes you to Amazon where product description says LP/CNG conversion kit. CNG is Compressed Natural Gas which is not the utility being fed to your house thru a gas line. This is the pressurized version they use in some city buses and truck fleets. You can get a carburetor for household natural gas, but it is not the one shown in this video !
Boy that's a whole lot better than what I've been looking at and way better price! Great video do you think I would have to do anything different to hook up to house LP tank?
My 9000 came with a Fuel jet for higher altitude, I live at 5,500ft, do you know if that same fuel jet would fit this carburetor? Or does this carburetor come with the necessary components to run at a higher elevation? Thanks! Thank you
The fuel jet for high altitude is probably not needed on propane or natural gas. The fine-tuning of the mixture is probably the screw in front of his index finger at 0:03.
I noticed that you are using a 7000 watt generator. The new carberator i think is only good for up to 4000 watts? My generator is also 7000 watts. Just would like to make sure it would work. Any ideas?
It's actually a 9000. I couldn't find a carburetor for a 9000 so I figured why not try it for the price. It appears to be the exact same carburetor just with the propane port and works great. Hope that helps
I did the same conversion based on your video. My question is, I bought a grill propane hose that is 12ft. Do I hack the end screw off to hookup to carb? I have no idea the inner diameter of the bbq grill gas hose....thanks
I don't know the size of the hose you bought but it should be the right size. Can you tell by the size of the fitting on either end of it? Good luck and I'm glad it worked out for you.
@@SoatMon I also bought the grill propane regulator but I'm having trouble getting it to run.. I switch on and prime the propane but it won't run.. Can you help?
Hold primer button for about 3sec. Once I got it started I had to adjust the orange valve that controls the flow for Ng or lp once I did that it worked great
Wish i knew what kind of regulator to buy . I'm unable to get it started and im using a RED top regulator which i think is to much pressure . BTW , I have the same carburator .
If you look at the gauge in the video I am running it on about 1 psi. It's likely that a standard regulator for a BBQ grill would work or get an adjustable one and start at 0 and work your way up. Good luck!
Well I appreciate it brother! Unfortunately I don't use Amazon and only use eBay now so I can't get you your share but if you get an eBay share link up by the end of the day I'll surely use it to get you your cut! Thank you either way!

@@davec6016 You have spammed this reply many times but I contacted the manufacturer and they indicated it will operate just fine on natural gas under 1psi.
I put a similar kit on my champion 3500/4000 generator. The on/off valve on the diaphragm confuses me. I’m not sure what it does.. do you know? I didn’t get any directions.

The most comprehensive tri-fuel conversion for a Predator 9000 generator on UA-cam.
Saved me $$$.Thank you!
Glad it helped you! Thanks for nice comment!!
Now that I have seen your video I have full confidence I can do it.👌👍
That's awesome, glad I could help! I hope it goes well for you!
Bought this converter and easy to install......works great for propane. For natural gas had to get larger hose with reducer a few inches from regulator. No drilling g into frame Ike other conversion kits
Thank you for sharing your experience!
I hope it works well for you!
Sounds like a kindred spirit. Glad you figured it out and got it to work for you. Thanks for letting me know!
We used to put a light coat of wheel bearing grease on the carb gaskets to make them re usable and still be able to seal without them sticking to one side or the other.
That's a great idea!
Thank you for the video.....approx how long will it run on a small tank like that one?
Thank you for taking the time to show this. Much appreciated.
You're welcome!
Wow this is very cool. I don't have a use for a generator but now I want one to convert and keep for a backup!
Thanks!
I think I will drill a hole in the side of the box for this vent line and hopefully that will allow the box to go on as it should
Let me know how it goes!
I would appreciate hearing how it loads on NG . Thanks
I did as I said...worked fine. And runs great on ng. Thanks for the video
So this carb works on natural gas from the house? The Amazon link say gasoline and propane?
Typical corporate control freak move. Glad you got it running. Carb needs a modified airbox sold with it now 😀
The primary regulator coming off the tank should be set to 11 inches of water column and be able to handle at least 80,000 BTUs or more depending on the wattage size of the generator.
I gotta change my carb on my 9000 tomorrow. Thank you so much for making this.
Glad it helped
You shouldn't need the chock on propane. I would cover the nipple when not in use to keep out dirt, bugs etc. Good luck with your install!
Thanks for your input!\
I tested my generator with a lamp not a circular saw. Thanks for the link to the carb.
Glad to help
Thanks for the video. I just got my carb in (exactly like yours) and was glad to be able to see an installation. The instructions are poor at best. I ordered mine from V Power Equipment. They have different carbs depending on the size of your generator. They do cost more but come with a properly sized propane regulator and gaskets.
You're welcome! Glad it helped you, thanks for letting me know.
When you first started it it was flooding out because the pressure was to high. Is there no regulator on the carb kit? If nit I would be worried about running it to lean and burning up the motor.
The link for the kit says it's for a 5.5kwh generator but you're using it on an 8750. Does that negatively impact anything?
It hasn't and the two carburetors look identical except for the propane port.
@@JackMasternone brilliant, my man. Thank you.

Yes you will always need to shut off the propane at the source. Let me know how the conversion goes.
@@trinityacreshomestead4147 which video did you find to address the newer 2020 predator 9000? What modifications were required? Thanks
@@mintytoo if you have the 9000 I believe you will be able to complete the conversion without the modification. I have the 8750 and it required the work around. Don’t fret it either way though.
Yes, once converted it will run on either one.
It will run on propane (LPG), natural gas (NG), or gasoline.

How about natural gas?
I installed the same one as you, did you have any trouble with it running a little rough? Like it has a miss, i played with the flow screw. Bottom it out to 4 full turns and no change. Any advice you can give me would be appreciated, thanks.
flow screw is probably for the gasoline, read thru most of this and seems adjusting the gas pressure at the regulator should help. Some here running less than 1 lb pressure
Thanks for the video. Will you let us know which pressure regulator you are using from your propane tank?
It's just a standard pressure regulator like you would use for a BBQ grill.
8mm and 10mm nut drivers are needed.
Still trying to figure out the hose diameter.
For the wire tabs, i used a cabinet flat head to push the bottom in and they came off
Does it turn the gas off if the generator stops? Or will it keep leaking gas out?
Thanks for the update of the video. I'm in Nigeria, how much, can this carburetor cost me to have it.
That’s a great video if I ever buy this generator I will try and get the same carburetor myself very helpful
Thanks!
Dustin S I bought a big Champion generator at Rural King instead it’s dual fuel already set up out of the 📦 box
Is the gas jetting the same?

when I first did this, the generator would start up just fine on propane and gas. Now, it wont start on propane. What do you think could be the problem?
Ever figure it out? Might be the regulator.
CNG is Compressed Natural Gas which is not the utility being fed to your house thru a gas line. This is the pressurized version they use in some city buses and truck fleets. You can get a carburetor for household natural gas, but it is not the one shown in this video !

Fantastic fob for converting it to propane.
Cheers 🍻
Thanks!
Was unaware how simple that was.
Now I need to understand the benefits.
The benefit to me is that I can run it off of my propane tank that will run it for days.
Gasoline left in the generator becomes stale and useless, gas tanks accumulate rust and sediment, gasoline may be hard to find in a large power outage.
Good Job and interesting video. Your videos make me feel much more confident about doing all my jobs around the house...You are a very skilled guy!

How to build up in diesel engine like Yanmar or kubota for this covrter kits?
Thanks a million, man! Quick Question!? So 1 pound of propane burns around the same as 1/2 gallon of gas? Mow much more inefficient is the Predator? I ordered the carb, just worried that it won't fit the new model 9000. The vid is pretty new, so I think it is the same... I'll try it!
Sorry I don't know the answer to your question. Good luck with the new carb, I bet it will fit
@@davidcollins5489 gotcha. Makes sense
Sorry , I am late to your video, Great job, Gene looks identical to my Champion, so it is definatley gettingan upgrade now.
Awesome. I hope it goes well for you!
The conversion carb you linked indicates it's only good for 4.5-5.5kW. Your generator is nearly 9kW, double their low end estimate. Have you run at full load yet?
Generator safety ua-cam.com/video/I1jT3ANENvI/v-deo.html
I bought the carb listed in your description, and I have the same generator. The installation went fine, and the generator runs fine on the gasoline side, but when I turn on the propane it leaks from somewhere in the carburetor. It's not a slow leak either, it sounds like I forgot to put something in place, but everything looks OK.
Not sure what that could be, it sounds like something is stuck open. Maybe you got a defective one? Hope it works out for you.
it could also be the regulator valve you use on the tank.
What a real good video, thank you for posting. How has it held up so far. I have the same generator and love it
Friend…this video is awesome and I am ordering the carb as week speak. Are you still having good luck with the setup?
Yes we are
Good evening, I really appreciate the video.
Amazon states it's for 4-1/2 to 5-1/2 KW generators, I see yours is 8700/9000. I would think it's not getting enough flow.

Great vid, thanks.
how long does that run on a grill size propane tank?
PERFECT Instructions dude
Thanks Gary!
It'll work
YOU RULE!
Thanks!
I have a craftsman 5200 generator without the wires on the bottom of the carburetor will you conversion kit work without the wires installed?
It's not my kit, I just bought it off Amazon. Sorry I don't know if it would work for your application.
Lost power yesterday and couldn't start due to gummed up carb! I think I'm going to do this conversion! Any average runtime estimates on a 5gal tank at 1/2 load or so?
Sorry no. I run it off the tank that feeds my house and I don't notice the difference .
The new carburetor is rated for a 4.5kw to 5.5kw generator. Isn't this too small for a 7-9kw unit?
You would think but it works. The one I put on was identical to the one I took off except for the propane part.
That was my thought and why I didn't order it. I went with a tri-fuel kit, which cost much more. I know I will be getting the full wattage output of the generator. What someone needs to do is test the RPM's, hertz and wattage output under load. I suspect the wattage output will be less.
Would this conversion be the same on the predator inversion generator?
Should have asked you in the first comment....What are the wires for going to the carburetor for. What is their purpose? Have never seen that before on a small engine. And Thank you for the video.
It does do 220v
Two 3-Prong, duplex NEMA #5-20 120 V GFCI
One 3-Prong, NEMA #L5-30 twistlock 120 V
One 4-Prong, NEMA #L14-30 twistlock 120 V / 240 V
One DC Outlet 12 VDC
The wires on the carburetor are to shut off the fuel if you lose oil pressure. I hadn't seen them on a small engine either.
Wondering if this will work for the 9500 inverter generator? Item 57080.
I looked up the link you posted and according to what I read it's for a 4.5-5.5KW is this the one you used for the 9000 Watt?
That's the one I have been using.
Very interesting indeed. Will that generator do 220 Volts. Like for a well pump and thank you for the link to the carburetor. Good to get ready for the time when a generator may be needed.
Glenn Felpel yes it will you will need a L 14 twist lock plug and flexible 10/3 wire the twist lock plug on that generator will do 220 @ 30 amps
Thank you - I wanted to use if for our well pump and the 30 amps will be just fine. Thanks again. William
Thank you! You made this so easy for me!
You're welcome Katie! Glad I could help!
@@SoatMon got it resolved. Still had the choke on for some reason. Once I opened it up the generator hummed like a kitten.
Awesome! It's amazing how many times it just something simple. :)
@@SoatMon You don't use a choke for natural gas or propane.
Has anyone tried on natural gas feedback says for cng not natural gas from house also another site has carb. For $62 looks the same and they say you
need to buy air box for additional 24 that you can drill hole and put hose into it any advice appreciated
I'm running natural gas from my garage hook up to my amazon carb and it runs great,
If you get the natural gas/propane carb you don't need to do anything to the air box.
Does this work for the the 8750 inverter generator also?
Is it work....on 8750 ?
Good videos really helped me out with my generator setup👍
Glad I could help. Thanks for letting me know!
So how is this a tri-fuel setup if all you can do is gasoline or propane? What about NG?
Thanks for this guide... But, my dual carburetor only works with propane, it's working on gasoline.
any idea how long a normal 20 lb propane tank would last? Probably use propane tanks until connected to the house gas
5hours
I have a propane only generator and wanted gas to be an option so I picked one of these up.

How do you adjust th mixing screws with this carb? I'm running natural gas and it only runs when half choked. It cuts off when choke is completely off. Also, what does the on/off value do on this carb. On mine, it doesn't do anything that I can tell.
Sorry I don't know how to adjust it. I think the valve turns off the gasoline.
@@SoatMon Natural gas would be a different orifice size (I believe much smaller)
If I use this with Natual Gas from the house will I need an additional regulator or can I run it right in?
Just make sure the carburetor says it will work with natural gas and you should be good!
It can cause fire if fuel spills while your generator is hot. You should turn off your generator and let it cool off before refueling it. Having a fire extinguisher next to the generator is also important. This is only a reminder for everyone’s safety of using generators. Make sure your generator is properly grounded. Don't you need a filter in the propane line just before the carburetor to avoid contamination from the supply line?

WHATS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WHAT YOU DID AND A CONVERSION KIT THAT IS A $179.00 ..SEEMS LIKE THIS IS MUCH CHEAPER AND EASIER, I WILL HAVE TO CUT MY FRAME WITH CONVERSION..KINDA CONFUSED NOW..
I don't know the actual difference because I haven't used the more expensive kit. All I know is that this one works.
i am unable to find a propane hose that will fit it like what u have. do i cut the end off and clamp it like urs or what size fitting will go on there

So essentially if you want to ever use gas again you would have to remove the carburetor and put the stock one on then?
No this carburetor will use propane/natural gas or gasoline that is what it means by dual fuel. You just turn a valve to choose which one. It's confusing because it says dual fuel and then talks about LPG and CNG but they are counting those two as one option and gasoline as the other. I have used it on gasoline and propane but have not used it on natural gas. Hope that helps!
Thanks for your help. I missed the part when he told about the carb. When you want to go to natural gas what do you do? Sorry for being a bother. Really great video.
If you tap into your house supply, nothing extra is needed
*NOT FOR NATURAL GAS !!!* the link provided takes you to Amazon where product description says LP/CNG conversion kit. CNG is Compressed Natural Gas which is not the utility being fed to your house thru a gas line. This is the pressurized version they use in some city buses and truck fleets. You can get a carburetor for household natural gas, but it is not the one shown in this video !
Everyone really needs to watch this video about generator safety ua-cam.com/video/I1jT3ANENvI/v-deo.html
Boy that's a whole lot better than what I've been looking at and way better price! Great video do you think I would have to do anything different to hook up to house LP tank?
I use it with my home LP tank. You should just need to run a line to it.
Thanks, got it on order!
My 9000 came with a Fuel jet for higher altitude, I live at 5,500ft, do you know if that same fuel jet would fit this carburetor? Or does this carburetor come with the necessary components to run at a higher elevation?
Thanks!
Thank you
I don't remember it coming with an extra jet.
@@SoatMon
Thank you
The fuel jet for high altitude is probably not needed on propane or natural gas. The fine-tuning of the mixture is probably the screw in front of his index finger at 0:03.

Thanks
Awesome thank you
You bet!
Will this carb work on the predator 9000?
BTW great video, thanks
I noticed that you are using a 7000 watt generator. The new carberator i think is only good for up to 4000 watts? My generator is also 7000 watts. Just would like to make sure it would work. Any ideas?
It's actually a 9000. I couldn't find a carburetor for a 9000 so I figured why not try it for the price. It appears to be the exact same carburetor just with the propane port and works great. Hope that helps
Will this carb work with the new predator 6500? How long is the runtime on a 20lb propane tank? Thanks in advance.
Sorry I don't really know, if it will mount up it should work. I would order it and see if it fits if not just send it back.
Why can't I use the normal carburetor that comes with the generator with a propane gas?
have you ran this on natural gas? do you happen to know if it will need that secondary regulator for natural gas? thanks
House natural gas is regulated at the meter, so you won't need another regulator. . Propane you'll need a definitely need a regulator for

I put a similar kit on my champion 3500/4000 generator. The on/off valve on the diaphragm confuses me. I’m not sure what it does.. do you know? I didn’t get any directions.
After you shut off the fuel you can drain the carburetor with that valve in the on position and then put it back to off to run propane.

Sounds like it is running a bit fast.
