I think the reason why Mariah doesn't like this song because it wasn't inherently a product of mariah's artistic mind. She was actually given this song, and she just added some new things to the songs. I think that's a testament to Mariah's authenticity as a musician, because she doesn't feel connected and genuine singing a song that she know she didnt write that's why she prefers to write her own songs. A true queen.

Still to this day never understood why this wasn't a massive hit, especially in America and attached to a film too. Around the early 2010s Mariah released a few singles which sadly made no impact on the major charts but I feel are some of her best work starting with Triumphant then Infinity, the brilliant Art Of Letting Go and then Almost Home. Love this video too. The dramatic black and white, Mariah looking fabulous.
It was buried deep into the credits of the movie. I mean Disney booked THE Mariah Carey for a song... and then didn't use it as the main song for the movie. I still hold a grudge to this day.

Yes! I often wonder why some of her great songs barely go anywhere. Then they complain when she collaborates with rappers, which don't get me wrong I love those songs too! I love all her albums! All the albums are amazing in their own special way! Love all the remixes! She really knows what songs to remix them with like Heartbreaker/ If you should ever be lonely. She will always be my favorite female singer!
The TONE of the note on "AL-most" at 3:21 when she glides up to the E5, is what makes her voice so beautiful to me. Yes lots of singers can sing that E5, but the way it sounds - the reminded me so much of Daydream, that elastic nature of her voice where it sounds so fragile yet strong at the same time is perfect.

I think what makes mariah’s high notes in most of her songs sound so beautiful is the way she puts emotions into them. I really can’t explain it. She can exude a certain emotion in a note. Radio mostly ignored it. It wasn't even a full-on ignore. It got light radio play meaning they tried it out with listeners and it didn't compete well. It ranked on adult contemporary and R&B radio but stuck to the lower end of the charts. Critically it was slammed for sounding dated, generic and that she didn't seem fully engaged. Not much of a chance for a nomination with those reactions.
