    This is genuinely one of the greatest sketches ever written. Just so perfectly poignant and accurate. I also love the several times that people are clearly trying not to break. I love it so much. Pardon me, but I'm confused as to why that is wrong. Isn't "steel chair" perfectly fine to say even though both "steel" and "chair" are nouns? "Steel chair" is short for "chair consisting of steel", just like "electricity gremlin" is short for "gremlin consisting of electricity". Plus earlier on "spider gremlin" is fine but "electricity gremlin" isn't.

    • @nateb4543

      @@sharpshark1158 it's not wrong, it's perfectly correct. It's a hilarious way to describe the movie. Like a late 80's writers room sequal mad libs

    • @Bronzescorpion
      @Bronzescorpion 4 місяці тому +5

      @@sharpshark1158 It wasn't that he was grammatically wrong, it was the fact that he just picked a random noun and stuck it with gremlin, like a child mashing ideas together with no real thought put into it or regards to whether it would be viable.

    • @outofthemadness
      @outofthemadness 4 місяці тому +1

      @@sharpshark1158 I mean, it is grammatically wrong (though not semantically wrong) because there is already an adjective form (electric, or electrical would techincally work too I guess), and you might expect an adult, especially a writer, to know this. Obviously this doesn't really matter in day-to-day conversation but it's still a thing a lot of people would notice. In your other examples, it's either that the noun and adjectival form are the same word (e.g. steel) or the adjectival form is very uncommon (i.e. "arachnoid" is technically correct but you'd sound weird saying it in this context).

    • @TatankaTaylor
      @TatankaTaylor Місяць тому +4

      Not true. Dante didn't want to make the sequel to Gremlins. He felt the original had to be a stand-alone film. But the studio was forcing a sequel w/or without Dante. So he agreed to do the sequel only if he could get away with mocking Hollywood's thirst with sequels. The movie is making fun of how Hollywood will milk a franchise dry. That's why he wanted to make it.

    I'll say this: as utterly ridiculous of a movie G2 is, it wasn't that out of place during the late 80's. Its slapstick tone and ott-ness couldn't have happened at any other time. But nevertheless it stands out by being a genuine original movie. Even a flop has value if it's original, and that's something any creative people could learn from today. I think nowadays people are too afraid of failing or of doing something ridiculous because might make them look bad or different. Take a hint from someone who never let that stop him: Weird Al! Thank you….my husband and father are both writer/producers’ 😂
      The funny thing is I took this joke to be kind of a jab at women which makes it even funnier because the woman comes up with the idea of the female gremlin. Groundbreaking. Don’t jump down my throat I’m a woman. It’s comedy. It’s the 80s. Get over it.😂😂😂😂😂

    As an old person I can confirm that “No backses no penny taxes”- something people actually said (mostly for not giving up a place in line after cutting at the cafeteria- or no giving back something “earned” on the playground from a bet, ie one of those good pencils you get at the library) was a signature key and peele line from the “man up” sketches on mad tv.
