  • This is my third Paludarium build. May 2020 my interest peaked in this hobby when my daughters were interested in the wild frogs calling at night. Fire Bellied Toads seemed like the best addition to our animal family. Little did I know they are difficult to find, but luckily we got 2 babes and 2 tadpoles. They are currently in a 10 gallon paludarium and are thriving.
    Knowing they would eventually need a bigger home I started to gather supplies. This build took about 2 weeks. I plan to let the plants acclimate for a month or so before adding the frogs.
    Huge shout out to Tanner @SerpaDesign His videos taught me everything I know. I know this video isn’t as put together as his, but I attempted to document and explain as much as I could.

    Beautiful build. That piece of driftwood fits perfectly, and I love how you ran the water feature underneath it. For weeks I've been searching for the perfect driftwood stump for my build, might end up making anartificial one.

    I am honestly so inspired now and cannot wait to start my paludarium! I have a long 75 gallon tank I plan to house fire bellied toads in. Before watching your video I was hopping from one video to the next just trying to find some inspiration on a good set up but everything just seemed too intimidating (and expensive, especially due to the amount of space I have in the tank :/ ). I am not a very creative person and I don't have the best imagination but your breakdown of the process and creativity have really got me excited to give this a try. Thank you so much for the video!

    I’m working with the exo terra background too and I’m wondering why you added expanding foam over the top of it instead of just applying silicone directly on the exo terra foam. Does it not stick or was this just your preference?

    • @lesliehirsch9324
      @lesliehirsch9324  2 роки тому

      Great question. It was just my preference plus I wanted to carve some detail and put some pots into the background.

    • @lesliehirsch9324

      Hey! The filter is a little pump covered by a flat piece of slate. I remove the slate and pull it out. Fairly easy, but I would have made the filter area bigger. Thanks for the comment.

    I have that same terrarium but mine is only 12 inches tall, do you think that's big enough for a few fire belly's?

    • @lesliehirsch9324
      @lesliehirsch9324  3 роки тому +1

      Hello, it is big enough but not tall enough in my opinion. I have seen people keep fire belly’s in lower tanks, but mine like to climb. That being said if you have a shallower water portion it may work. I would use a filter for smaller amounts of water though. Hope that helps! Good luck on your build.
