I really appreciate you posted this video, I'm now "woking" all Layla songs, this song is one of my favourite. You did a great job!!! Greetings from Argentina.
Thanks for the comment, it's good to hear someone found it useful! What did you make of the slide? Do you reckon Allman used one in the solo, or am I dreaming....
Hi, thanks for the kind words. You know you’re the second person who has asked after that backing this week….and dang it all, I must have binned the logic project after upload. Cannot find it. So sorry about that. Does seem a pity cause getting the backing to sound decent took a little work! If it turns up I’ll msg you 😅
Yeah I kind of doubt it too - but you never know. If Bobby Whitlock was to cameo, then you might get lucky after bell bottom blues! Man, how good would that be! Enjoy the gig.
I'm new to elec and thrilled that you provided instruction for this favorite of mine. Could you clarify for me, it appears this is standard tuning. Is the entire piece done in this tuning or is some of it done on a second guitar to another tuning? Appreciated.
Yes it's in standard. Clapton's guitar is in an open tuning. If you check the description of the video I linked to video where Bobby Whitlock talked about the song and tuning. I never looked into the tuning of the second guitar that much and took Bobby's word for it. It what I used when making the backing - very satisfying to play that part!
Hi Stefano, as I mentioned I'm unsure whether the slide was used but after a couple of hundred listens I felt it wasn't possible without it, anyway no big deal 😆 Why do you think Clapton played it?
@@JeremyJames_studio Hi Jeremy, I've been playing guitar since 1978 because of Clapton. I'm sure this solo is by Eric and not by Duane for both the sound and the phrasing. Anyway congratulations to you, nice hand, great touch.
@@slowhand6565 Hi Stefano, well that’s interesting - you’re the first person I’ve heard say that Clapton played the solo. Nothing could be surer in my mind than the fact that Duane is playing the solo, not least of which is the sound of his les paul (I trust you’ll agree the solo is on a les paul) but mostly the licks which are textbook duane. Also the studio charts of the sessions that came with the 20th anni layla box set, had Duane as playing the solo which seems kind of definitive to me. The use of slide I’m unsure about though, as most everybody thinks he was in standard without a slide for a change - with clapton playing the slide part for a change. So I may be wrong on the slide question, I just feel that the slide got me a bit closer to the solo - but in all likelihood I just wasn’t good enough to play it properly without 😅 Anyway, I think we’ll have to agree to disagree on this one my friend, and just enjoy the music which is what really matters after all!
If you'd like the TAB for this solo, feel free to download directly from here: www.jeremys.studio/lessons-tab

Really great man, love this solo - thank you!
Cheers Gareth - I'm basically working through my favourites. Making a video forces me to do a fairly decent job!
Thanks. Very interesting.
Welcome 🙏
Very good lesson Jeremy! BTW, that s a nice bavking track you re using. Is it possible to add it to the downloads?

@@JeremyJames_studio Thanks!
I’m going to see Eric next month so hope he plays this but doubt it

@@JeremyJames_studio thanks so much. I missed the part where he's speaking, if you cqn believe that:)
@@Mark-mq3se Well Bobby does like a chat!! Never seen that tuning before but when you hit the chorus it's like the sun coming out! Love it.
Very Nice!! Do you play "I looked away"?
You bet! Great track, but I think there's other videos that go through that. Correct me if I'm wrong.
@@JeremyJames_studio I would love to see a lesson for that song. I haven’t seen any on UA-cam..
Great job but the solo is by Clapton and without slide.

Standard tuning?
Yep sure is.
