- The second tier of my top 10 fountain pens of 2023 consists of writing instruments above 300 and under 1000 $ - this is where most of my collection is concentrated with around 45 to 50% consisting of writing instruments in this value tier. All of those Visconti pens and Leonardo ArtDeco 2nd Edition look amazing. Also the story behind the jade has to be one of the wildest pen stories I've heard
Uhhhh I have so many other cool viscontis but it’s so hard to pick what should be my choice for the top 10. That jade made quite a tour in Europe and managed to get home safe in one piece
Ha, $300-$1000? That’s a big boat. So, maybe easier to think up favorites.
You have great taste, Emy. And to see Italian pens totally dominate your favorites in this price bracket is not at all surprising. I really want the Leonardo pen that is your #1.

Yup it’s a big carhegory incrementally bigger than under 300 but it’s better for everyone to stick with 3 tiers with the most crazy insane one coming soon. My collection is centered and deeply rooted around Italian pens - while the bigger monsters are around Japanese Urushi artwork. You have some pretty cool things on the list - first two are very cleverly put there 🖋️👀 good taste my man
I can't wait for more of the Leonardo Dodici models.

I also have a red Montegrappa Extra. I’ve had it since they first came out . I don’t remember the year, but when I bought mine it was under a thousand dollars but still a lot of money in the day! It’s one of my favorites also!
:D if I remember correctly mine was as well unde 1000 - I dont know how much but anyway it was like 850-900 ish, anyway it was a really big purchase back then and i still remember the smile on my face when Stefano opened the wood boxes and ive seen this red jewel - I just said "this comes home with me" :D

Amazing video Emy! I’m relatively new to the pen hobby and I haven’t looked much at pens above €150 so it was nice to discover so many beautiful, exclusive pens that were made for Pen Venture! That Pen Venture exclusive Visconti Homo Sapiens is going on my holy grail list!
I felt that this video was maybe a little bit rushed, as in, made as short as possible so there are no people complaining about a lengthy video. I must say that my attention span for most videos is no longer than 8 minutes or so but the way you passionately talk about your pens and tell the amazing stories behind them, like with the Visconti Homo Sapiens Jade, it really draws me in and I can watch for hours before getting bored!
I read in one of your replies that another video with Ben is planned, which I’m already very excited for! I really enjoyed the previous video you did with 😁 On the topic of Ben and Gravitas, I’m surprised the Kyuseido/Gravitas Kakari was not mentioned in this video😉
Thank you so much :D - please take your time in just going up in value with the pens you collect, one of the things that I must say I would of done different now is to build a collection slower and only go up in value once I establish a good base of entry value/models.
Since I had some pens that didnt make the cut - I wanted to still be reasonable with the timing :D
Ben is for sure coming back on the channel - ether im traveling to him or him here - I have two kakari pens that I still get around to understand the dynamic of this collaboration and to do justice in presenting them online, for sure they'll have their air time soon :D

hmmm - there isnt a mathematical formula, every year I do it different but always is about pens that get used more, get to have a certain way of making me choose to carry them, to ink them and to enjoy having them throughout that specific year.
All of your Visconti and Leonardo collections are amazing, I can feel you that it is very difficult to pick the top 10. I am looking forward to your ink obsession video :)

:D lengthy or not - I cant rush passion and love for these writing instruments that made everything possible :D I wont cave in to do things different unless I personally see a need of that coming from my personal reflection and as a choice of myself. Pilot 845 is a veeeeery solid choice :D + that Demo stones is eye candy and soul food

He loves his Italian pens! Of course they are all beautiful. I wonder if they perform differently, and if any stands out for performance, smoothness, or comfort?
im guilty of that :)) - I think each is unique although it may all look the same to a viewer but for me, each has its own way of sitting in my hand while im writing with it, one is more smooth the other may have a hint of feedback, some are for longer sessions of writing, others are just to show off...
I am very very new to fountain pen , i am minimal guy when it comes to design , so apart from body from leonardo how does nib and feeder land compared to pilot lamy other major pens maker
welcome to the club then :D - italian pens are very different to Japanese pens like pilot and also on European manufacturers like Lamy, there is a looong list of things to discuss but, basically prices are very different vs what the pen offers, this has to do with how many pens each is producing and how they make them in the firs place (pilot can make injection moulded pens in excess of thousands and those come at a lower price compared to a Leonardo pen that is made on a lathe from a solid bar and polished by hand where they make like a few hundreds of them) - and that is just the start, the list can go on and on and on
