A love song serenade couldn't be better. I love Geoff following Kathy with his eyes. This song was written during WW2 and a soldier going off to war hoping she will wait for him and the only loss will be time. So beautiful. Makes me miss the love of my life. I think I'll dedicate this one to my Steve. He said he'd find all the cool places and take me to see them all when it was my turn.
Us ladies have been nagging him for a love song for quite a while and boy did we get one. I LOVE the looks he gives Kathy off camera. *swoon* There isn't a genre he can't do, and you'll find with the next VoicePlay song there isn't anything the group can't do either.
Oh, girl, if you really wanna swoon he should do a cover of Josh Turner’s Your Man. I’m guessing the bass singer community did this song to death some years back, but Geoff’s rendition would be brilliant, and OMG swoons!
Loved your reaction to this purely romantic song from Geoff. He and Kathy were the only ones there while they were filming, and I love watching him glancing over toward her while he's singing. So sweet!
Continuing the tradition started in Way Down, from left to right, the Geoff clones are Goff (mid-range), Jeff (high.second lead), and Jeoph, low), To put this song into more context, this was written in 1944, sung by the Mills Brothers, and was meant to be a soldier writing to his sweetheart. Also, in the original edit, the trio stays, looking at the empty piano and nodding/smiling gently, after Geoff is led off into the black and white world. He likened the singing to a "grizzly bear lullaby."
One thing that really stood out to me here is the layering of the background singers physically, giving them depth and making it appear more so that the three are all there together. Notice how middle Geoff is blocked partially by left and right Geoff.
I'm glad to know you're feeling better. Still, keep taking care of yourself and don't overdo it. It's a lovely new room decoration you have there. I'm looking forward to see how it evolves. Geoff, well, he's outstanding. Nails it every time. Great video.
Yes! Jen is back!! I like that he’s not editing out the breaths, so this sounds like we’re hearing this live-very clubby sound. (This is not my brilliant observation-I heard it from another reactor. I apologize for forgetting who, but excellent point.) Anyway, great reaction, and can’t wait until you’re better!
I was looking forward to this one! While a Geoff cover typically has things we have come to expect, this one stood out to me as being quite different. Yes, there were times when back up Geoffs sounded familiar like the one you mentioned, which made me think of Big Bad John, maybe? But, there were more moments that were totally unique to this cover, I thought. So glad you are feeling better, but please continue to rest, take care of yourself and stay hydrated! It's better to rest voluntarily than to have your body go on strike. Trust me, I know. 😉 It will be fun to watch your "setup" evolve as you decorate with things that have meaning for you. ❤
Happy to hear you are feeling better. Please get plenty of rest before you tackle VoicePlay’s new release on the 13th. I predict that will be a marathon for any reactor doing an analysis and I’m so looking forward to hearing your opinions.
Geoff said no one ever asked him to do this one, it was one he wanted to do. The man is just amazing!! Glad you are better/getting better! Get your strength built up for Voiceplay's next one. Just sayin'!
Loved this one, as a bass singer I truly appreciate when I hear all chest voice vocals from bass’s. No tricks or sub- harmonics. This was really good and a wonderful loving touch from the beginning and at the end. Hope you continue to improve! God bless! Low bass Kenneth. Note, recently thanks to my voice teacher I hit a G0 in chest. Note below piano! Been a long road back after heart surgery!
Great reaction. Glad you are somewhat feeling better. On a tangent...I have been a life-long athlete and coach. I never thought about the fact that as athletes we are encouraged to constantly hydrate...as do singers. Makes sense because we are both using our bodies to optimal performance. Very interesting.
Hey, Jen! I hope this video coming out means you're feeling better! Everybody's getting sick with all this crazy weather so please take care of yourself. Still, I'm happy to see your reaction to this. I love this one from Geoff. It's so pretty and soothing. I love the way it sounds in his voice. That guy can really pull off anything!
Hi Jennifer. I am glad you're feeling better. Praying for a full speedy recovery for you. You are one of if not my favorite reactors. So glad to have you back but take it slow, don't overdo. Your beautiful voice depends on it. I especially love it when you get so sassy & animated when you sing.
@@JenniferGlatzhofer would you please, please do a reaction video of Voice Plays...One Minute Musical (Miley Cyrus ) ? The music & lyrics are by Geoff Castallucci & it is hilarious. Also Voice Plays...One Minute Musical ( Light Bulb ) music & lyrics by Eli? They are both fantastic. They are both short & can both be done at one sitting. You will love them.
Jennifer! First off, you got your nails done! Nice! 😊 Secondly, glad you're feeling better and good to see you staying hydrated! Ha, you react to a Geoff song when you're a bit blocked so you can try to hit those low notes! Making lemonade out of lemons! 😁 And boy does he hit some here! Very nice jazzy piece by Geoff. Oh and love the background Jen! I've seen that Netherlands map on the internet! And love the hand drawn pic ... someone really did capture you didn't they? Great analysis and reaction as always Jennifer. 😊
Thumbs up for your comments on self-care 👍 I had to learn that the hard way after developing a chronic illness and you are absolutely right. To me this song feels like the sonic equivalent of a big, warm hug. I read that Geoff was aiming for "Grizzly bear singing a lullaby" and that is a good description, I think. And for something completely different, my first suggestion for the new year: Blind Guardian: Bard's Song and Valhalla (ua-cam.com/video/i-IcX_bccFc/v-deo.html) two very different songs in one video, lot pf potential to analyse Hansi's voice and nice energy from the crowd.
Since you are still a little under the weather this is a great one to start out with, not a lot of vocal acrobatics just great singing, also on one of his posts on Facebook Geoff did write that this was "A lullaby for the end of the year." which I find very fitting for what he did with this song.
Love your reaction as always, Jen. I'm in great need of advice. I lost my voice a number of years ago due to bronchitis, and was hoarse for about a month, when my voice returned, only my chest voice returned. I can no longer access my head voice, the closest I can come is a chest dominant mix, and even then, my voice has a tendency to cut out or sound raspy. This really bums me out because I used to have a pretty nice falsetto, and now it's just gone. When I try to reach up to access my head voice, all I feel is straining and discomfort. I'm not sure what to do, if I should get with a professional voice coach to retrain that part of my voice? Most of my singing background comes from choir and theater chorus roles. I've done some solo and duet stuff, but have been very gun shy since I lost my voice. My chest voice is still great, very deep, I can access some subharmonics, nothing close to Geoff, but I'm working on it. I guess over the last few years, I have just tried to work with what I have. Is my head voice gone forever? I know you are very busy, and I'm sure you probably won't respond to this, but if anyone reading this also has some advice, I'm open to it, I want my voice back! Thank you, Jen, you are amazing, keep up the good work!
Hiya! Thank you for sharing and i’m sorry to hear what you’ve been through and that your voice hasn’t returned to how it was. Your voice has been through a lot. I would start working with SOVT exercises to build up the strength in your vocal folds as you begin to thin out and increase pitch. Grab a straw, pop it into a glass filled with a bit of water, and blow bubbles. Going up and down your range. Your strength will slowly come back, baby steps 😊
