MacBook pro - Problems 👍
#TechIconPlus
Menubar menus don't go into under the notch, its the menu bar icons that go underneath. Which is somewhat solved by using bartender or dozer. (Tbh apple should have it builtin like windows has done for ages).
👍
You said gigabits per second first . 940gps… you could download all the internet in a day 😅
Hi Max, I am suffering one problem with window sever. When I try to watch a movie on full screen, the window sever is unexpectedly high on GPU (>100%) and Ram. The internet says it might be the adobe flash issues, so the temporary fix is reboot your mac. Do you know any other solutions for this problem?
1. ProMotion refresh rate is not fully optimized
2. slower wifi speeds
3. notch can get in the way in certain non-optimized apps
4. apps that don't have native Apple silicon support
5. display blooming from mini-LED
6. viewing angles are worse than previous Macbook pro generation
7. memory leak
8. M1 Max 14" will have thermal throttling
9. not great gaming support
10. mic sounds dull when there is background noise
The shot of the 16” precariously balanced on the ledge gave me anxiety.
Yeah me too that was crazy. I remember seeing that in a previous video they did.
Yeah, an angry bird could have flown into it, knocking off onto who knows what below - OUCH!! There goes lotsa $$$. 😬
@@williamsquires3070 Or just a little stronger wind. 😳
LOL, me too
Lol word. For the price you pay for these, I’d be treating it with more care than my girlfriend.
The problem with menu items/icons being hidden by the notch was on MacOS Monterey 12.0, and was fixed on 12.0.1. The update was already available on launch, so probably only a few reviewers with review units were able to see it. This is not a problem anymore.
@Aziz Rahman As I mentioned, it doesn't exist anymore, and customers already received their Macs with the last working version installed. So in practice, they never experienced it. That's why you're not seeing lots of complaints about it on the internet.
I read an article stating the memory leak may be related to changing the cursor to non-default settings. I changed my cursor and the next day my laptop shut down during a GoToMeeting call. I changed it back and I haven't had any more issues.
Ditto with an M1 Mini: I started seeing memory leaks when I customized the cursor; they went away as soon as I reverted to the default b&w cursor.
I was only getting 5-6 hours of battery life in Firefox, just watching a UA-cam video in a single tab. Switched to Safari and the battery life more than doubled, so about what was expected. Has anyone else noticed anything similar or is that just me?
Yes. Firefox and chrome are battery hogs on this thing.
Firefox has a problem with videos, even Twitch streams. Hopefully fix comming soon, otherwise keep UA-cam and videos to Safari for now:/
@@nofreebeer Yeah I knew Chrome was a battery hog but was surprised that Firefox seems to be even worse. Oh well, Safari is a fine browser I suppose.
Switch to brave
It’s a shame developers are tasked with writing flashy features instead of focusing on performance and efficiency.
It would absolutely amazing, if you would test out external monitor combinations including those with 4K @144Hz (Gigabyte M32U or LG 27GN950-B) with the new MacBook Pros to see if they can achieve these framerates. (?) Scaling and UI performance as indicators for performance would be enough for my needs, but I think many people are getting stuck with that question! Greetings from Germany!
I experienced this memory leak first hand. I returned my m1 pro 16" because of it today. It was very slow, froze multiple times making me hard reset with the power button. The RAM was almost always maxed out for no apparent reason. Hope Apple make a fix for this soon.
@ً Yeah they fixed it a few months ago mate. Got another one but 14 inch this time and it works perfectly.
I have been using my MacBook for over a month now and I love the screen. I don't notice blooming unless I am really looking for it. The only two problems that have bothered me is the refresh rate in safari and, most of all, the RAM leak (it is very bad when using FaceTime, causing my call to crash once)
I’ve come across a few issues with my 14” M1 Max as well and these 2 come to mind.
1. Issues unlocking with the apple watch. Never happened with the intel version.
2. Safari feeling ‘buggy’ throughout. Turning private relay off helped a lot btw.
Has anyone had these issues? I just think that for a device so expensive, these issues are just unacceptable!
Yh I had the same issue with safari on M1 pro 14 inch 2021 - speed was slow on safari
So did you manage to solve this issue yet? I’m thinking of exchanging for same model but different laptop 💻
@@stellagyan6593 The safari issue is resolved but the apple watch unlock issue comes and goes unfortunately. It’s quite unstable.
@@Yaas90 Awwww ok 😢
so how did u fix the safari issue
None of these issues matter to me because I’m upgrading from a 2012 iMac which has worse WiFi and all the apps I use are compatible. Plus the other issues aren’t that big of a deal for me, I don’t game on my Mac and the viewing angle and blooming issue I can deal with
Me too. I have a 2013 13 inch Macbook Pro. I am upgrading to the 2021 16 inch Macbook Pro.
I’m still using a 2010 iMac 😅 trying to decide between these two and the Air. Pricing matters but so does future-proofing.
I upgraded from an imac late 2012 as well and I can confirm that for us these issues do not affect the excellent experience these machines provide. The only thing I miss is the size of the screen despite the 14" even not being as small as I thought. Next I'll have to invest in an external monitor but it will always be a decrease in quality relative to the 14" mini led.
Same but coming from a 2012 lenovo laptop lol
coming from the 2020 macbook air, the screen is significantly larger despite only being a little bit physically bigger
they definitely should have just not put a camera in there at all so we can have a full size screen
This seems unacceptable for the price paid.
‼️❗️‼️
I watch movies on my M1 iPad Pro with the same screen technology. I see blooming but I consider it a reasonable trade off for the deeper blacks. I love not seeing the black bars when watching a Movie.
My iMAC 24 keeps rebooting (kernel panic) after sleep (but not always) with external Rocket Sabrent drive. Unable to solve this problem. Haven't tested this issue on M1PRO 14inch yet but I would be interested to hear if others are having issues. Thanks for all the great reviews !
I am currently unable to get my 16” M1X to recognize by 96TB TB2 GSpeed Studio XL. G-Tech says it’s an Apple prob, not sure what the problem is tho. The Array works perfectly fine on my older iMac and MBP.
Also, did he say he doesn’t have a TV at his house?
He might not have space. Obviously he can afford because he has such a good laptop
notch definitely is an issue on my 14" MacBook Pro which I only use travelling but already noticed that menu bar items don't show. So many apps have them now Adobe, MotionVX, Alfred, iStats so the missing real estate makes a big difference. I also noticed that when copying files from one external HD to another (i often do for video back up purposes, the MacBook even if on power will hard eject all HD and will go to sleep in the middle of the copying process when your screen goes to sleep. very bad. The screen going to sleep should not stop all background processes and eject your HD's
To clarify something on the number 4 problems, in the minute 4:12 . The audio Plugins you show up on the screen (most of them) Works perfectly fine with Rosetta 2, As a music producer myself, I use some plugins of Ik multimedia, Slate Digital, Arturia, etc. Many don't have native apple silicon support but they work fine on the m1 chip running in rosetta 2.
Is true that the Audio industry is slower to make the transition in general, but almost all the big audio software companies will make the update by 2022.
I recently got the new 16” MacBook Pro. I haven’t used it much yet, but I did watch a movie on it from Apple TV+ and I was surprised that the volume doesn’t go up much. I love the sound coming out of it. It sounds amazing, but it needs to get louder. I’m my opinion
If you want an immersive movie watching experience, get an OLED. In particular a Sony A90J, A95K, or A95L with a good speaker setup, or sound bar. Who watches movies on their laptop?
@@jamesestrada82 those who take their laptops while traveling.
@@juspain1I’m sorry, I was only teasing. My wife and I used to watch movies on my Pro all the time while we were in bed, as it was easier for her to see the screen up close. Seriously though, the Sony OLED’s are wicked good if you’re into movies 👍🏼
My 16" Max model is currently being repaired, suspecting a hardware issue. Display doesn't work properly after sleep wake, just shows very dim and blurry image. Apple online support wasn't able to help so now I'm waiting for deeper inspection
Ran into the memory leak on day one editing a few photos in Lightroom. Super bummed after all the hype (and $) but glad to see I’m not the only one. Apple needs to fix this quick or they’ll be processing a lot of returns.
will these M1 machines look that good when alder lake laptops come out next quarter? As is with no upgrade ability I don’t want get a lower model to try it out but find the M1 Max too expensive. I wish they still supported eGPUs and upgradable SSDs.
A memory leak is my most concern on this M1 pro. hope the new update is really fixed...
Reverting a customized cursor to the default solved the problem for me. YMMV.
I started having memory leakage after upgrading to 12.1… super annoying and p*ssed about it
One thing you didn't mention is the abysmal response times on the display. While it's a superb display the motion performance from many users have reported it to be so poor in comparison to other OLED displays out there.
Thought for a second i need to rethink my decision of getting the 14” base model. But none of the problems seem to be of any importance to me with exception of the blooming maybe. Excited to get my hands on that machine. The update from my old early 2015 MBP is overdue 😅 thanks again for putting so much work in your videos!!!
@SvLkx Y not the blooming.
I have the 16” MB M1 Pro, It’s great!!
@SvLkx Y same! I upgraded from a 2015 MBP too and it's ridiculous how fast this moves even for some laggy apps. It's a mindbend when you start getting used to not to wait anymore for things to load lol
Made the same upgrade. The 2015 was no longer keeping up! So glad I skipped all of the touchbar ones and waited for a proper replacement.
@@RH-nk7eo agreed the touchbar is very unhandy except for emojis 😂 did you get the base 14?
Nice fix! I was waiting for the video to be re-uploaded like 5min after the take down, because of the fast render speeds
Try the 140 watt power supply on the 14 inch to see if it becomes faster.
its not gonna be, 14 inch maxes out at 100
Thanks for these. Also how about laggy Bluetooth when in clamshell mode. And yes, I’ve tried a few fixes. And the SD card slot speed is horrendously slow. Many people talking about that too.
Yes ‼️🔈
I wonder if they were originally going to ship this with FaceId and then had a component supply problem, but was still stuck with the notch. Maybe a reason to wait a year. I’m still wondering if this will really feel better/faster than my 2015 MBP.
I guess blooming will happen with Mini-LED as compared to OLED displays. My biggest gripe is how the OS handles the notch. Not as polished as Apple products usually are, even on 12.0.1. Thankfully, I have not run into the memory leak issue just yet. And yes, the AC Wifi speeds are indeed very disappointing!
Well the blooming is only annoying from the sides and who watches something from above. Just move ur screen into the right position and ur good to go. This is a little exaggerated. I have the 16’ mbp m1max and these are just worst case scenarios
I see you didn't cover the issue of HDR video on UA-cam being disabled for some 14" and 16" M1 MBPs, which when enabled was previously causing systems to crash. Why isn't this being covered? Isn't a kernel panic or the inability to actually use your HDR-capable screen more important than blooming issues?
Ohh that's why it was disabled, thanks for the link.
I had good success with setting the user agent to Windows and get it to work but now I know that until updated, I'll keep in mind that it can crash the whole thing anytime.
The only thing I’ve noticed is the wi-fi feeling slower. I’d love to see an explainer video on it and router recommendations.
My imac had this problem, Was super annoying. Not sure if you've done this already, but I created a new user profile and just moved my stuff over, actually fixed the issue 👍🏼
Is 16GB RAM bad for video editing, RAW color grading and occasional blender renders? If I have a tight budget, would it be worthy to upgrade to 32GB RAM?
Happy Thanksgiving! Thank you for posting. Now I know what to expect when I receive mine next week. Controlling expectations.
Got my custom M1 Max 32 Gig 14 inch. Such a treat of a laptop!
incredible macs ,however ,im in no hurry to get them. most excited about the next macbook air. hopefully app support catches up, bugs ironed out . Newer hardware improved bt and wifi modules
I’ll be getting mine in 2-3 weeks and hoping Monterey will be publicly updated by then or at least a chrome or safari update for the ram leak. With 32GB though I’m not worried as my M1 is leaking and only has 16gb and still just fine. Can’t wait to trade in my M1 13” for my M1 Max 24 core 32GB
I'm very disappointed with my MacBook pro. After a month of waiting, has finally arrived. The first impression Wow... but the case starts to creak all the time when I lean my hands or carry a laptop. It is so irritating that I decided to return it and wait for a new one (minimum 2 weeks). I don't know, maybe the simplest solution was to unscrew it and put it back together. Anyway, in such an expensive laptop, in my opinion it is unacceptable. I had two Dell Precision laptops and such a thing did not happen. Has anyone had the same issu with new MacBook pro?
As soon as he said he doesn’t have a TV at home I couldn’t hear the rest of what he was saying lol
Havent had a tv in 5 years… i bought the new 16 base - rather spend money on that…
@@TheVikingquest Nothing against anyone who doesn’t own a television. It’s just I have a few in my home and rely on them for certain gatherings like the Super Bowl or watching a show with my fiancé at night on the sofa before bed. I just personally can’t see my lifestyle without one. With that said, I purchased the 16” M1 Max with the 64 GB unified memory and 4 TB of SSD storage. Can’t wait! I do photography and editing/exporting RAW from my D850 can be very time consuming. A couple more weeks to go! 😊
@@stephensenior6825 I like everything you said here. Or you going for the Z9 as well?
@@jtucker473 A man could dream. The Z9 looks absolutely amazing and I probably would’ve put my order in if not for my new baby girl. Financial priorities had to shift a bit lol. Spending almost 6 thousand on the new MacBook Pro was a hard enough trigger to pull. In the meantime, with a few caveats, the D850 will do just fine. I have to say that I am in awe of the new face/eye detection system these new mirrorless systems have. I’ve already had a taste with my Z fc and it blew me away. Perhaps, I’ll be able to get myself one in the not too distant future. 😁
I'm not sure if this is just me or not, but I have the new MacBook Pro 16" M1 Pro, and whenever I shut down the Laptop and charge, the MagSafe keeps blinking on and off and the charging notification just intermittently rings. From what I've read on Apple forums, it appeared to be an OS problem, and that the majority of people who experienced this issue only experienced it after upgrading to Monterey 12.0.01.
I got a lot of spinning wheels in Final Cut now. Even if media is on crazy fast internal drive. Its so bad I just use Resolve now which is super fast and has no issues. I am on 16 inch M1 Max with 32 core GPU, 64GB of Ram and 2 TB SSD
Great vid - I have been experiencing a lot of lag on my 4K tv's using the HDMI and Thunderbolt ports. These same TV's are connected to my PC and running flawlessly - so I know its not the TVs or the cables. I have watched a several videos, and have somewhat improved the issue, but no matter what the issue remains, which makes it impossible to use my tv as a second screen - which i rely on for ADR/Voice Over work for my talent (they watch video on the screen and attempt to align voice over recordings. So basically when I move my mouse, there is a very noticeable delay to actually see the mouse move - which is uncomfortable to the eyes, and makes it impossible to line up quick mouse movement's while navigating software.
Excellent video. Thank you!
I’ve had the 14 inch for a month. The only problem I’ve had is connecting to Wi FI when I’m using my Bluetooth trackpad. That’s been an issue for years. Presumably Apple’s waiting for a really special occasion to fix it. Otherwise, like all myApple products, it’s fantastic.
Great stuff! My 16 inch M1 Max is having a rendering issue while using FCP. It's slower both on playback as well as on timeline. Don't know what to do even Apple customer care did not help?
I found that most of the blooming when watching HDR mostly due to my eyes. When I cover a really bright spot with my finger the blooming is drastically decreased
Yes, blooming can sometimes be an illusion because of either your eyes or the camera lens, I’ve noticed this kind of pseudo-blooming on my OLED screens.
The previous generation MacBook Pro i9 16 inch would run the fans at full speed sounding like a jet engine non stop when two monitors were plugged in. Do these new Apple Silicon MacBook pros have this same problem? You are aware of it as I've seen threads of Max Tech discussing this previously. I'm surprised you have not tested that scenario?
I’d like to know this as well. I’m only hooked up to a single 34” UW, but turn on UA-cam and the fans go wild. I guess it’s a nice heat source for the winters here in Boston :(
@@donvuong28 UA-cam, but in which browser? Safari makes much more efficient use of the processor than does Firefox.
I've not connected two monitors but when playing games like War Thunder this Macbook gets very hot and the fans get loud, only on medium graphics.
@@jpdemer5 I'm using Chrome. I know it's a heavy browser. Since I made this comment, I was really set on the new MBP but now I'm seeing stories about it having issues with external monitors..
@@donvuong28 Can't give any first-hand advice there. I have two 32" HD monitors on my M1 Mini, and it never even gets warm... I had to look up whether or not it actually has a fan, since I've never heard it spin up. My 2020 (Intel i5) MB Air, in contrast, starts whooshing after just a few minutes of UA-cam video - and that's just driving it's own little screen.
Thanks for the video. I have issues using Safari - the internet is so slow using Safari but the message is that its due to the Safari itself. Do you know any workarounds or what is your experiences with internet through Safari?
Yh same issue with safari. For the m1 pro 14 I experienced overheating as well and Bluetooth wouldn’t connect with most devices. And battery life was bad.
Since i unboxed until now, 2-3 weeks in, i never ever noticed the notch or should i say it never came in my way or bothered me
I don't see that blooming issue at all, but I did go in and adjust the screen calibration parameters since I do digital paint. Watching you tube I moved it around as you said and I noticed no difference.
Thanks for this. You guys covered it all.
Thinking about getting a 13” MacBook Pro for editing videos on my DJI is it worth it?
Regarding things hidden behind the notch: if you have multiple desktops, you can use three-finger swiping to reveal everything behind the notch. Sliding just a bit should be enough.
I’m having problems with my MacBook pro 16 charging from shutdown. It’s fine if I just close the lid but when I shut the laptop down and plug in the charger the mag safe blinks orange and just beeps like it’s trying to connect
The easy fix for number one is to use Brave browser, this supports the full 120 hertz. It has all the same features as chrome, plus a built-in ad blocker and security on par with safari. Works great on my 14-inch MacBook pro!
I had the memory leak issue several times, I think its something related to the graphics , I also noticed an annoying popping sound issue , especially when having 2 different sources of audio.
try to reset your Cursor setting back to Default and see if it fix. It worked for me
@@dmt99vn how can i reset my "cursor setting"? where can i find it? i have memory leak and popping sound that are very annoying :(
same here, memory leak and popping sound. are they a software issues?
@@Falto90 Accessibility -> Display -> tab pointer . You see the reset color Cursor and the Cursor size (drag the size to the left)
@@gurugamer8632 to know if your macbook has memory leak, open "Activity Monitor" , then go the "Memory" tab and you will see there a list of all processes, and check if any process is using more memory than usual. If you see at this very same video 7:34 the "Windows Server" process is taking more than 33GB and its constantly increasing, and that process under normal circumstances usually takes up to 500MB.
There is an easy fix for the 60 FPS cap for most apps. you open a Terminal Window and use this command "open -a "Name of app here" --args --disable-gpu-vsync --disable-frame-rate-limit", this will remove the Frame rate limit of the specified app as well as disabling Video Synchronization. The app will open up immediately after running the command or relaunch the app after the command was run.
About the WiFi difference, can you prove the issue is with the MacBook pro's wifi adapter, and not a setting on your router?
The only problem I experienced so far was the beeping while charging so what I did was open the laptop lid then closed it then the beeping stopped.
I’ve noticed the touch pad click doesn’t always work on my pro 14” . I have to restart it to get it working.
I've just got the M1 max 16, ran the GFX Bench and started getting pretty loud coil whine in my opinion. Even before the fans came on, I would prefer to hear the fans than annoying coil whine; any fixes for this?
My 24 iMac on Monterey does not make a backup with Time Machine. When it ending the backup is not completed. Oldest backup: none, latest backup: none. On Big Sur everything is perfect.
Hello sir, my 16inch M1 pro Macbook is slowing down, it's not working, need solution
Wth 😭
The internet speed is very important because MacBook Pro don't have Ethernet cable. This is so depressing.
Another good video Vadim. 👍🏼

I'm planning buy base M1 MacBook air... Or Should I want M2 release?🤔 🙏
Loving my 16” max but they definitely need to update the browser to 120hz
I updated to 12.1 and now I am experiencing major memory leaks.it did not happen on 12.0.. does any one know how to revert back operating systems?
It'll be a while before the 'slow' wifi connection is a problem for me considering the actual speed hitting my router never betters 30mbps.
Nice review.. I was on the verge of pulling the trigger but, at $3500 for a 16” I expected more! From a 3D animation perspective, Apple has always lagged behind since I started 30yr ago! Thx
Hrm. Hard disagree here.
Hello ! What are you using for cpu and memory usage in menu bar ?
5:44 I'm not seeing any of that with my 14" MacBook Pro. Viewing angles are fine.
i got some problem with my macbook m1 pro 16", when i logging in, the screen are blinking.it happens after i use in 4 days. nobody talk abt this..do you have any idea?
I wonder if there is a way to get the 14” GPU to full speed with an Unix switch addressed in Terminal.
@@RunForPeace-hk1cu That is a fair response. It is very clear from testing that the 14” is throttling for the purpose of extending battery life (and not due to thermal issues). But, on Windows computers, you get a completely different profile when you are unplugged, versus plugged in. And, on AMD computers, there is a setting to fully use the GPU (as it is throttled, perhaps for some of the same reasons).
Look I do not know if there is a Unix command to get the GPU on the 14” MBP to go all out. But, Terminal gives you a whole lot of power in a Unix system, and I have every reason to believe that someone will find a command to unleash the full power of the GPU. The battery life issue would be a trade off but, for some workflows, especially those where one is plugged in, this may be acceptable.
Why did you balance a 16" MBP on the ledge of a balcony?
In your unsupported plugins for audio production, you listed some that are now fully supported such IK Multimedia, Steven Slate Digital, Audio Damage, etc… I believe that’s an old list.
Can you please check if your 16“ Macbooks charge when turned off and closed? Mine doesn’t and I have heard other people talking about having the same issue with theirs.... I didn’t return it while I could because I thought it’s a software problem all of them have and that it will soon be fixed via a software update.... Apparently it’s a hardware problem tho that is present in some of the earlier models...
Then it's faulty, take it back and then them to fix it, i.e replace the machine.
@@affieuk Sadly can’t get a new one cuz it’s outside the 14 day return period :/ but I can get it fixed or get a replacement one from genius bar (which will be a renewed one...)
The only problem I have encountered with my 16" MBP base model is the laptop not recognizing my LG 32UN880 monitor. I have to either unplug the USB C cable and plug back in to the laptop or turn the monitor off and on again. Then it works fine. I have also found the WIFI to be faster than my 13" M1 MBP.
My model got some coating signs :( any recommendations?
Nice work guys.
Not sure if anyone noticed this one but I had chrome installed and it said a process called 'WindowServer' was using 120% of my CPU capacity. This wasn't an issue on my 2016 13' macbook pro. I uninstalled but hopefully that issue gets fixed in the future as I usually use it as a backup.
For those of us doing software development, can you cover if there is native IDE support? For example, are IntelliJ, Eclipse, VScode, Webstorm etc supporting M1 natively?
I think VS code supports it, not sure about the others. Visual studio 2019 for mac has been a bit difficult and I tried to use Parallels but that seems useless.
On the hardware side I have keyboard marks on the screen which I cannot wipe off.
@@adama-k2710 Gotcha. Good to know. Thanks for the reply!
Crap! I use IntelliJ a lot. Getting an MBP next week….now not sure.

@@danniarrezafirdausy2538 Great! Went with 32GB/1TB MBPRO and it’s perfect. RAM usage hovers around 17GB with IntelliJ, EMacs, Safari open. Hopefully the SSD is not used much as there’s RAM!
That notch is the biggest freakish design ever made in a Laptop. People will look back at it and say how people didn't mind that shite?!
Is there anyway to force 120hz all the time?
I feel like i want to buy the 13 inch M1 while i still can, well specd so i can hold on to it for a few years. The overall design was much better imo as well as portability.
My m1pro 16 inch mbp (3 months old) just developed a buzzing sound in the bass left speaker just sent it in for repair. There are Apple threads talking about it it’s a hardware issue and i really hope it’s easily fixed definitively. Some people have had it recur several times after getting replacement macbooks.
I’ve been experiencing memory leak. I have 16 GB and I’ll get a message saying I have less than 3GB available. All I do is edit photos.
I personally don't find the problems you mentioned relevant. But I found a bug which occurs when I try to AirDrop files or photos from my iPads to my MacBook Pro 16 M1 Pro. The macbook doesnt show up on airdrop at all and when I turn both wifi and bluetooth off and on again it shows up for a short amount of time and then isn't reachable anymore. when I try to send from my MacBook sometimes the ipad dont show up at all and sometimes they show up and I can click them but nothing happens. any tips from you guys?
That’s really weird, it’s the kind of issue I used to have when AirDrop was first introduced
@@thebuddercweeper I just chatted with the support and turns out the problem was McAfee's antivirus firewall
@@Ben-st5si That’s really weird but not totally unexpected, antivirus software messes with a whole load of things so I don’t usually install them on macOS.
@@thebuddercweeper ok thank you. I just deactivated the firewall and use the built-in one
what application do you use for the gpu/cpu icon in the menu bar?
the BIGGEST problem is miniled lag. can't switch from black to white fast enough and you see this blue color in between. very very annoying

I found out about this yesterday, have you experienced this yourself. It's a real concern.
@@affieuk yes it's real. i bought one, then returned it to get a second one, still had the same issue. I even went to an apple store and the ones for display had the issue too :(
@@terrryyy6714 That's a shame. What does it affect? I'm a devops engineer, so spend most of my time working with infra and automation. Outside of that I also use my machine for media consumptions and study, so note taking, etc.
What is the external display refresh rate? It looks like it is only 60hz.
i do notice the blooming slightly..
problems not mentioned.
1) waking laptop when connected to external monitor and laptop is closed. total disaster, does not work on hdmi or dp.
2) location of camera and screen opening point with thin bezels = skin oil on camera. i noticed it even in your videos. something has changed with these screens because it is really hard to get off.
3) finger oil on keys gets transferred to screen after closing lid.
natural oils, not chicken grease.
My only annoyance I've continuously experienced is during full screen for Chrome when the top menu bar goes away. All good, happy that it does that disappearing act. But when I go to switch a tab and go just a little too high, MacOS thinks I want the top menu bar and brings it back, pushing the tab selection down to accommodate for the notch. However, it does like a double spacing and leaves a gap between the end of the notch and the tabs. It's minor but an annoyance I keep experiencing since it takes a few seconds to revert back and hide.
it is either that or a smaller screen, always a trade off
Please share your thoughts on the microphone issue. I always noticed it in your comparison videos. Comparison videos of M1 air vs M1 Pro and older intel models. I will use them to record audio for UA-cam videos, so you guys got any thing to say?
i'm just curious. how did you install windows on m1?
You can get high refresh rate scrolling if you connect a mac to a standard high refresh rate screen without pro motion
Vadim, Edge chromium for m1 is faster than chrome, uses both less ram and cpu annd has dynamic refresh rate to 120 HZ, ma
it's not a surprise that all software are not M1 compatible, I totally expected this. it's been only a year; it's not as simple for a complex pro creative software or plug in as it is for a text editor or something. Plus M1 macs are still a niche market; you can't expect every software company to drop everything to develop a native version as fast as possible (specially since most of them still made sure it works through rosetta). I use pro audio apps and my daw (ableton) will be native probably in the next few weeks (already in beta); as well as some of the plug ins I use; some are already are; and some have an ETA for Q2 2022 or later and for some other they will never be ported (luckily there is still a way to open them in a native DAW). The audio world moves slowly, always has. Although for a lot of situations there won't be noticeable differences.
Good list but for my application you’re out past the 6th decimal place of concern. The 14” MBP is more than adequate for my needs.
With a 2x2 Wifi6 AP you could probably get about 600mbps at best (I know cause I have a U6-lite and I get 530Mbps at 2x2 80mhz), looks like you are on a AC 3x3 AP connection you your Iphone, looks totally normal to me for a real world wifi setup. connect a TB Ethernet apapter for high bandwidth connection for a nas etc
