@@stephenb1367 same engine. Basically a mod for a game developed by the developers of many of the Men of War games, extreamly similar game mechanics, shared assets. What ablut what I said originally didn't you understand?
In my experience. If the RTS need you to micro manage even a singel unit for it to do their intended job then it's fail. One of the example is early aoe4 where they try to make it easy for villager and military unit to manage them even if it's just to add a butten for idel unit
depends on the tanks, the heavy ones move slow, maps are big and pretty much tanks fire across the map easily unlike the previous games. Of course with a light armor you wanna close in and get a higher pen rate if you manage to.
I know it looks fast but I personally think it plays well. Due to the scale of men of war maps, as the US (or soviets or with even some smaller German tanks) at least, with the Stuart variants and even Chaffee, I really feel like I have the mobility as a light tank to move around and use my speed to get to a good flanking position for infantry. No lie though, sometimes it does feel a little jumpy without a doubt, where you’ll click somewhere and make a move order and see them jut forward and make a sharp turn, and it’s a little jarring but it doesn’t happen all that much. I think it’s because the terrain behaves a lot different in this game and it does feel a lot better, most of the time, you can actually “fall” off a small hill or something or a small rock face etc and not have your tank implode or the physics break and it flies up 500m. The PvE and story mode / additional modes are really fun. PvE battalions is a great way to get used to the game and a LOT of fun to play and experiment with different units with players. The enemy AI is really good on normal, in my opinion. Not unable to be outsmarted, or outplayed, but will put up a good fair challenge. I do very much dislike when they have a KV-2 at the absolute back corner of the map and I fire one artillery shell with my brand new howitzer, with sandbags and camouflage nets and all, and it’s instantly destroyed. However, on the same margin, I love flanking through the enemy lines with a scout car or light tank and destroy some of their far back artillery or main guns firing on my lines. Most of the hate towards this game to me comes from Rimmy’s video, and I admit I think they should have been a lot more open about what they were going to implement or not implement feedback wise, as to not disappoint people. It wasn’t “what they wanted” or what we all wanted but I genuinely think it’s refreshing and fun. The models, graphics and sounds are beautifully well done, and the theme is also nice. I wish the unit AI was even just a hair better, but to me this is a penance I am willing to pay. The health bars are such a non-issue, and can be disabled. It works the same way old men of wars did, still penetration, still crew shocking with HE, and any vehicle blows up the same way it did in MoW AS2 if you shot it too much. It’s a high price to pay, but anyone who liked MoWas2 I’d say should try MOW 2, but ensure that if they aren’t certain they’re going to like it that they play under two hours, as to be able to refund it if they really didn’t like it. I personally sat on 119 minutes and unsure if I was gonna actually play and keep it, and wasn’t sure if I liked it as I didn’t really learn all the systems for Battalions yet. I've managed to break through this invisible wall in D-Day mission. Nonetheless I have to admit that a couple of missions almost made me enter low orbit. In Lutich mission your officer tells you to blow up bridges because you're surrounded and outgunned, but the bridges are in fact indestructible for some reason, even the one made of wood. At the end of the mission I had literally 2 infantry men without ammo running for their lives to the edge of the map when finally retreat order was sent.
Call to arms even with all their bugs and lack of polishing in some aspects, it's much superior (in my opinion, of course!), and the devs are making a great job with updates trying to improve the experience.

@SolarNeonFlare You can find a multi-player match in less time in MOW 2 and have the beloved mechanics that MOW 2 doesn't have the graphics still look great but outdated MOW 2 is slightly better, had more factions, was offline, had more maps and units and better ai than MOW 2... Yeah mowas2 is better than MOW 2

Same studio but I doubt any of the original devs work there anymore. It's basically an entirely new studio with 0 Men of War experience. I wanted to give them a little faith after they pulled the mess that was Cold War. But it seems fans are better at making successors than the current staff at the studio. Considering Ostfront is why most people I know own CTA and Ostfront, which has some flaws. Is my favorite of the genre, they seem to want to make a game that you will enjoy. Not something you will buy.
Your feelings of REALLY wanting to like this game because the franchise is one of your favorites of all time and being so disappointed at the new game that you get ANGRY has been me over the past few years. Almost every modern sequel to games I have always loved and still play has been a massive disappointment. Men of War, Homeworld, have ben just the most recent examples. I'm kinda glad I didn't have money to buy them on release so I wouldn't get even more disappointed at having wasted it.
The fan base is fascinating. I mean the die hard defenders. They’ll unironically claim the game is good, and even that it’s better than Gates of Hell. I’d love to know what they’re using to get that high, i fuckin want some lol
Unironically mow2 has better QOL, better overall gameplay mechanics, less bugs and better multiplayer... Than GoH. And better AI. GoH AI is dumb and never shoot on their own on close ennemy.

@@TheRingoism There’s no doubt many of the aspects from GOH are superior, zero, it’s just the GUI is microscopic, the ways to play against the AI is very limited and the structure, camouflaging, micro is better to me in MOW2. Though play both routinely.
@@JD-dm1uj That's fine so you prefer a more streamlined experience, or how most would put It arcadey, It's just odd to me for a major game In the franchise to completely change Itself and not for better, barely anyone actually likes this game so I just have to ask, who the hell this game Is actually for.
and honestly when it comes to certain bugs they are so much funnier than gates of hell because of the Arcady nature of this game and so it's very easy and fun to get along whereas gates of hell try to do realism so much that when bugs do happen its more infuriating then fun because we take it so seriously and we are so competitive
To be fair, Troy wasnt a copy of total war arena, Arena ran in the Rome 2 assets, Troy was made using the Warhammer assets, tbh is really not hard to see the difference lol.
More crying, game is good. Another video that just only goes after bad remarks with like 0 neutrality. It's only online for now, it'll be patched with offline mode, you're online now, stop crying about it, most of the whiners on that subject whine online lol, this is one of the worst things to complain about when you obviously have ez access to the internet, in case your net drops, hotspot your phone and connect with the PC. Also for those blinded by nostalgia, Assault Squad 2 was a very arcadish game, go play a multiplayer match, troops are literal sponges and if you don't use the crappy metas you're doomed. Assault Squad 2 was only good due to ROBZ mod and even that with certain settings, artillery made inf useless and after mid game it could get to parts where inf was close to useless. How is repairing a tank hard, you just move your cursor over the tank and the wrench auto appears and you just right click. Even if it was a "deeper" system, play a few matches and you got used to it, it's not something to cry about, I swear people just look to nitpick stuff just to hate something. I've yet to have to wait 5 mins in que, just rejoin the que. The classic mode and the new brigades mode always finds matches within 1 min in EU times. Especially the brigades one which is what I've mostly been playing. This game is tons better than the other ones. Even GOH which I like and still jump on, if someone lags a bit the whole match feels like crap and sluggish, your units have this weird rubberband that makes it awful to direct control in general and nothing worse than having that slugish feel when you got multiple units to send in while getting shot at, that's not an issue here, the occasional stutter will surely be fixed and it beats slow motion games. Tanks pretty much fire across the map, if you play brigades, you'll be micro managing some squads which makes sense that they won't play the game for you, especially to those that whine that tanks don't laser shoot everything that pops on the map. There's COH for those that want the units to be easier to move about. I mean, if I'm doing medium tanks brigade I'll start with a tank and like 6 inf, it ain't that hard to micromanage that at this point, whole point is to diversify the team's roles so you focus on one thing.
Well, you give lots of negative views there. As another player of these games, going back to 'Soldiers: Heroes Of World War II' (and who enjoys this game), I find a lot of it to be unfair. An example would be your ranting over the quality of the AI. I agree that it's kinda shit. But everything must be taken in context, or else it means very little. The AI in ALL these games is shit, including Assault Squad 2, and Gates Of Hell: Ostfront - or didn't you notice? Last time I played GOH, it had me laughing out loud at the dumb AI.

I mean, go play Assault Squad 2 online rn, the ranges are ridiculous, the soldiers are bullet sponges and if you don't use the abusive sand bag spam meta your inf is screwed, it's far from "arcade" compared to the prev titles. GOH is alright, but it had years of patching, Men of war 2 also has added a classic mode, just like in the previous titles, play that.
@@stormy1055 i still wouldn't bother with mowas2 in multiplayer without the robz mod, the low range of units, spongy nature of units, which makes for the sandbag meta to feel like crap if you don't do it, I prefer mow2 or coh over that sry. at least in coh they work as squads with abilities
you know what would help singleplayer MOW ?
If you could stop or slow time and micro that game, because your unit AI is so bad, that this game needs a lot of micro :(((
You can pause and give orders. It's literally the only way any of the games in this series are playable. It boggles my mind that anyone would try to play MoW in real time or multiplayer honestly.
@@jackobrien47 Oh snap you can ? I will have to check that one one day, when I decide to come back. thanks for the tip chief.
@supolik2 from memory i think it's spacebar but you can assign it in controls. Also in this video he complains about not being able to see his troops. I think if you hold tab it highlights them and all interactable items on the screen
@@jackobrien47 yeah it does highlight them, i think that in older games this effect would turn on by default if your troops were obstructed by something
This game's loading is 4 times faster than GoH for me, while GoH is installed on SSD and men of war 2 uses HDD
There was no British or Japanese campaign in Men of War so not less content here.
The rest of the problems have been around since MoW, I don't understand if you had fun with MoWAS you should have fun here too ?
Well this sucks, had high hopes for this game.
If they would only listen and change it accordingly it would be a great game …
Same studio but I doubt any of the original devs work there anymore. It's basically an entirely new studio with 0 Men of War experience.
I wanted to give them a little faith after they pulled the mess that was Cold War. But it seems fans are better at making successors than the current staff at the studio. Considering Ostfront is why most people I know own CTA and Ostfront, which has some flaws. Is my favorite of the genre, they seem to want to make a game that you will enjoy. Not something you will buy.
Graviteam...
the game started as a free to play cancelled project. seems like we will have to stay playing assault squad 2 or gates of hell
love to see your review of gates of hell
Ah the algorithm for pathfinding seems shit. They didnt put values for cover or opem terrain but just made terrain passable. Lower complexity
just buy Call to Arms Ostfront. Its better
Hey Ostfront plays like an early 2000 RTS, nice gameplay ideas but damn Company of Heroes 1 feels better / more advanced :°
@@pascalbourelier3463 I prefer Ostfront for its realism
Company of Heroes 1 is a cartoon compared to Osfront. No realism.@@pascalbourelier3463
Why get this over GoH? I'm genuinely interested in answers.
It's been out for a month Didn't they fix anything? 🤔🤔🤔
comp isn't what makes assault squad 2 great, neither is the realism. the land mattress is
The fan base is fascinating.
Tbh the haters train isn't much better - trying to nitpick every single thing. Just watch whole Resonant review, and try not to laugh at his cluelessness.
@@JamesEarlCashGates of Hell was a broken mess on release, but that's conveniently forgotten when people talk about this game. It doesn't mean this game is good, but perhaps it will be in a few years.
@@kloon9699 true
The only people I see that said this game is good are shills or people who are coming from COH3.
The infrantry in this game is complete trash....the infrantry gets wipped out instantly, behind good cover. Its a joke.
I like the game and we had the most fun in co-op
Game shouldn't make you angry. Tell that to Dota 2 players😂
and also want to see your guys better turn on show silhouette omg how do people keep forgetting this it's really not hard to see your guy's
gates of hell ostfront the best game ever...mowas2 played 5912hrs... mow2 never wanted to get the game till now. yet
Its basically the same game but with little to no improvements. The engine is still the same old crap.
I've played it, there's lots of improvements.
@@Sol4rFl4r3 Gates of hell is way better.
@@Greg-jq1co then play that
@@Sol4rFl4r3 I am lol. And I don't have to be online lol. Enjoy lol🤣
@@Greg-jq1co joke's on you, you're online rn and Men of war 2 announced full offline mode in an upcoming patch, who cares if it needs internet for now? Don't be a hypocrite, you're online whenever you're touching the keyboard. Game won't be dead when they drop support, it's far off seeing their previous actual men of war titles and with an announcement of offline mode it's all settled.
You just press escape key to quit the game bro.....
Tank controls are a bit broken, but still you should've completed tutorial on movement and formations. It moves in reverse because you ordered it to move in reverse.
campaign clips, not even gonna bother
Absolute BS take, I own every single game going back to the very first using the GEMS engine. Men of War II is damn good and much better than most of these assholes portray. I own GOH and the entire CTA franchise, sans mods, I’ll take MOWII. There are a lot of haters out there.
Why? Can you explain to me why Men of War 2 Is the best In the series
@@TheRingoism Why can’t you tell us why it isn’t?
@@JD-dm1uj Gameplay Is arcadey and animations are stiff as fuck, tanks zoom around like they're from world of tanks and all blow up completely once they're put out of action like some mobile game, the sound effects and graphics have pushed the series back by 10 years.
Why would anyone prefer this over Gates of Hell.
I think its the first game ive played that doesnt actually have a "Quit" button ingame.
You have to press ESC.
Ive played games for 35 years.
Moron.
I just played men of war as2 again because men of war 2 sucks
Well, you give lots of negative views there. As another player of these games, going back to 'Soldiers: Heroes Of World War II' (and who enjoys this game), I find a lot of it to be unfair. An example would be your ranting over the quality of the AI. I agree that it's kinda shit. But everything must be taken in context, or else it means very little. The AI in ALL these games is shit, including Assault Squad 2, and Gates Of Hell: Ostfront - or didn't you notice? Last time I played GOH, it had me laughing out loud at the dumb AI.
Barbed wire studios are updating the ai to be better in the next update, making them a bit less stupid
No, the AI in this game is severely more retarded and broken than any other game. It's an achievement in fact
